QUOTES FOR REFLECTION“Waiting is not a waste.”~Mark Vroegop (author Dark Clouds, Deep Mercies, pastor, president of TGC)“In the waiting, in the searchingIn the healing, in the hurtingLike a blessing buried in the broken piecesEvery minute, every momentWhere I've been or where I'm goingEven when I didn't know itOr couldn't see itThere was Jesus.”~Zach Williams (Southern Rock artist), feat. Dolly Parton “Waters never part, until our feet get wet.”~Petra (Christian Rock group) “Life doesn't discriminateBetween the sinners and the saints. It takes and it takes and it takesAnd we keep living anyway. We rise and we fall and we break. And we make our mistakes. And if there's a reason I'm still aliveWhen so many have died,Then I'm willing toWait for it,Wait for it."~Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr in Lin Manuel-Miranda's Hamilton “The waiting is the hardest part.”~Tom Petty (Rock artist, 1950-2017) SERMON PASSAGEJoshua 3:1-3, 3:9-4:3 (NIV)Joshua 3 1 Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. 2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it….” 9 Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. 10 This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. 11 See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into the Jordan ahead of you. 12 Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.” 14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.Joshua 4 1 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, 2 “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.”

Are you struggling to reconcile a good God with a hard life? Hosts Dave and Ann Wilson sit down with Mark Vroegop, author of "Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy" to explore the vital biblical practice of lament. Mark reveals how lament, though prevalent in Scripture (making up one-third of the Psalms!), is often missing from modern Christian life. Drawing from his own profound experiences with loss, he explains how lament provides a faith-filled language for expressing grief, pain, and doubt directly to God, preventing despair and even the deconstruction of faith. Shine!LDS AND MEDIUM PODCAST BACKGROUND:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. Please join me on this journey, let´s make a community of strong spiritual LDS, or whatever religion you belong to, and all work together to make this world a better place. If you like what I do, then you can find me here:https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. In this message from 1 Corinthians 6, Pastor Dorrell challenges believers to consider how their conduct—especially in conflict—reflects on the gospel. Drawing from Paul's rebuke of the Corinthian church for taking disputes before unbelievers, the sermon calls Christians to prioritize humility, unity, and grace within the body of Christ. With powerful reminders about the cost of petty division and the high calling of our testimony, listeners are urged to walk worthy of the name of Christ, even when it means suffering wrong or choosing peace over vindication.Eastland is a Place to Belong Eastland Baptist Church is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. God invites us to bring our complaints before Him—not in a spirit of rebellion but in faith. The psalmist shows us how lament is not about grumbling but about bringing our pain to the only One who can truly act. Text: Psalm 10 Speaker: Aaron Patton

Reports continues to surface about former President Biden's decline, both physically and mentally, before he ended his run for re-election. Americans will remember the infamous debate last June that sparked questions about then-President Biden, and weeks later he dropped out of the race. Now, tell-all books and articles continue to emerge with direct stories from Biden insiders who openly acknowledge Biden's frailty that they kept under wraps from the public. Democratic strategist and 2024 Biden campaign surrogate Kevin Walling joins the Rundown to discuss the fallout from those Biden decline stories now reaching America at large. Apple has lost nearly $800 billion in market value since the emergence of President Trump's trade war. The decline is largely attributed to the tariffs imposed on China, which have exposed the vulnerability of Apple's reliance on China for cheap manufacturing. Apple pledged to move 25% of their manufacturing to India, but is this U.S. tech titan already too dependent on the Chinese Communist Party? Patrick McGee, author of Apple in China: The Capture of the World's Greatest Company, joins the podcast to explain the origins of Apple placing its manufacturing in China, and he details how and why Apple's manufacturing center became effectively stuck in China. Plus, commentary by Brian Kilmeade, Host of One Nation with Brian Kilmeade and The Brian Kilmeade Show. Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

“ It may not be until the new heavens and the new earth, but we're eventually going to know that God had goodness that was behind the dark clouds of our lives.” So says Mark Vroegop, newly appointed president of The Gospel Coalition (TGC) and author of Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy, during his conversation with Russell Moore. Moore and Vroegop talk about the ways TGC has evolved since its founding through leaders such as Tim Keller and Don Carson. They talk about the nature of belief, how trust in Jesus alters our understanding of who we are, and navigating seasons of doubt. Their conversation covers ministry partnerships, vocational decision making, and the importance of deep friendships. Moore and Vroegop consider what the Psalms have to say about seasons of doubt and grief, the relationship between character and gifting, and trust in the goodness of God. But what if you could argue back? Inspired by Hannah Kerr's “Fear Not,” we learn the powerful truth that God's presence isn't just near—it's active, bringing comfort, consolation, and even delight amid chaos. Did you know that way back in 2021 we played a ton of For the King and never really found the right time to sit down and record an episode about it? Of course you didn't know that - we didn't release an episode! But it's true and it doesn't matter at all anymore because the 112th episode of Saves Together is here and it's all about the sequel! Tune in now to hear about our experience playing co-op in For the King II. Also, back on episode 86 we talked about fleshing out our "chaos x stakes" intensity factor as it's own episode.. but in this episode it kind of just.. happened organically... So now the Saves Together Chaos x Control quadrant graph chart is official and you can hear all about it in this very episode. Hey friends, welcome back to Purpose Beyond Motherhood! We're so glad you're here for an honest conversation about grief, lament, and how God meets us in our hardest moments.Today, we sit down with our friend, Clayr Simnacher, who shares her journey through loss, sorrow, and the practice of lament. Clayr, a counseling psychology professor, opens up about compound grief and navigating uncertainty. Even as a counselor, she has found herself at times asking the same raw question so many of us have: God, do you see me?Clayr walks us through the biblical practice of lament—how it allows us to bring our deepest pain before God, trusting that He is near even when we don't see the end of the story. She reminds us that grief isn't weakness or punishment, but an invitation to draw closer to Him.One quick note: Clayr references Psalm 13 but actually quotes from Psalm 22— This moment is a powerful reminder that even when we feel abandoned, we can bring our raw emotions before God—just as David did.We pray this episode meets you where you are. If you're walking through grief, infertility, or loss, know this—you are not alone, and your pain is not unseen.Episode Highlights: The pit of grief. The concept of Holy lament. You are not alone.Links Mentioned in Episode/Find More on Purpose Beyond Motherhood and Clayr:Twelve 12 Ministries WebsiteIG Handle: @twelve12ministriesFacebook: @twelve12ministriesEmail: info@twelve12ministries.org Visit the Twelve 12 Ministries ShopConnect with Clayr: Clayr.simnacher@bhcarroll.edu Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy by Mark VroegopThis show has been produced by Adkins Media Co.
