Onimusha Warlords was a very early PS2 title that many refer to as just 'Resident Evil, but Samurai and Demons'. However, CAPCOM's Demon Slaying Feudal Japan era epic series is so much more than that, and this game was the start of something truly special.. A Video Game Time Capsule: The Complete History of Video Games, presented by MRIXRT @reallycool
The early 2000s, spanning from 2000 to 2003, were a whirlwind of change and innovation for the video game industry. In 2000, a culmination of creativity met technology, with Sony's PlayStation taking center stage and the indie scene gaining prominence. Video games started gaining a foothold as a recognized art form, while Sega gracefully exited the console market to make way for new players. 2001 saw a surge in console wars with the debut of the GameCube and Xbox, while storytelling in games reached cinematic proportions. By 2002, the allure of sequels reigned supreme, with franchises opting for familiarity, and the end of an era for Rare as Microsoft acquired it. The year 2003 then marked significant mergers, with giants like Square and Enix joining forces and Valve launching Steam. Video games officially became a mainstream industry, drawing in significant investments and changing the face of game development. As the lines between art, entertainment, and business blurred, the early 2000s set the stage for the future of gaming.Featured Games:The Sims, Diablo II, Deus Ex, Thief II: The Metal Age, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Phantasy Star Online, Shenmue, Halo: Combat Evolved, Grand Theft Auto III, Oni, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Final Fantasy X, ICO, Onimusha: Warlords, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Metroid Prime, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Call of Duty, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Freedom Fighters, and Viewtiful Joe. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★ (00:00) - Episode 6 (00:06) - 2000 (21:54) - 2001 (46:35) - 2002 (59:37) - 2003 Thanks to our monthly supporters FS Tabreez Siddique Mynx Mopman43 Ritsu William Kage Studio Devil Dallay_g Razu John H The Golden Bolt MykonosFan ErbBetaPatched Vornak Killer Space Serra Mr. Lindsay Autocharth History With Kayleigh Benjamin Steele Nick Makris minimme
Resident Evil with Samurai....well kinda. Onimusha Warlords, a failed project that got delayed and finally released on the PlayStation 2. Set in feudal Japan, this title has you taking on hordes of the monster of hell to save the princess. I had never played this before before Jake Macauley brought it to me. Is it any good though, let's find out!!!
My thoughts on Onimusha: Warlords. I was told it was Resident Evil with swords, but that does very little to describe about how fun this samurai tale was. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/deleted-saves/support

In this episode of Attack the Backlog, Marc hacks and slashes their way through the monsters and demons of Onimusha: Warlords, an action-adventure game that kind of feels like Resident Evil with samurai, swords, and monsters, minus the horror. Onimusha: Warlords originally came out PlayStation 2 on March 13th, 2001 before making its way to Xbox a year later and eventually hitting PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on January 15th, 2019 in the form of a remaster. Anyway, something-something frustrating and undulating, cheers and enjoy the show. Anyway, that's it and that's all folks. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on 2001's Devil May Cry, an action beat-'em-up from Capcom. We situate the game in its time and talk about its evolution from the Resident Evil series with its action. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: First four missions Issues covered: gaming in 2001, the origins of the title as Resident Evil 4 and making it into a new franchise, leaning into the tone, the beginning of the Clover legacy, distilling down to God of War, camera changes, we riff on the ranks, evolving the camera from Resident Evil, branching off the controls, dealing with the stick when moving from screen to screen, the Capcom 5, many takes on Dante's Inferno, "Devil May Care," dripping with style, style *is* substance, a game that wants you to dive in and get good, switching to be more aggressive to fight the first boss, where you can run from the return of that boss, the presentation of easy mode, learning to read a hard game, trying different third-person cameras at this time, facing difficulty and having to figure it out, change in game tastes in the last two decades: repetition vs continuing spectacle, physical limitations, grinding for consumables and the store, how does scoring work, taking a weird detour into watery skulls, how this series evolved to present day and greater generosity, procedurally generated emails, Diablo's shrines, the strategy of allowing a shared copy of the game actually driving sales, virality, generosity driving sales, hacks and cheats and the difficulty of preventing them. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Capcom, Jedi Starfighter, Ico, Grand Theft Auto III, Anachronox, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil (series), Halo: Combat Evolved, Metal Gear Solid 2, Max Payne, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Diablo, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Onimusha: Warlords, Nintendo GameCube, Super Smash Bros. You are the... Jumpmaster?! We talk about the sudden and successful release of Apex Legends. Mark gets a crash course on what exactly a Battle Pass is, while Dave and Dan sing Respawn and EA's praises. Afterwards, we talk about a game that doesn't require a Battle Pass - Onimusha: Warlords! Since being remastered for the modern era, we explore how well this supernatural Samurai action game has aged. To top things off, Mark and Dave face off in a Battle Royale themed Red Herring Challenge! Only one of them can survive this Tastemaker. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dinosaur-machines/message
Spill vi snakker om i episode 12: Apex Legends, Tales of Vesperia, Age of Empires II, Toki, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy , Wally Bear and the NO!

While Jon has made it his mission to overtake Adam in Steep challenges, Adam is determined to take back the ones he lost. The news of the week starts with a bummer for fans of a popular Nintendo franchise, and features other news items from Halo, new Nindies, and the closure of a longstanding gaming Youtube channel. Folge direkt herunterladen

Merry Christmas! Here is some podcasting greatness as a gift from us to you! You were tired of unwrapping Commodore 64s and Xbox Live 500 point cards anyways. A light news week this close to the holidays, but we cover all the important stuff. Sonic the Hedgehog has an all new silver screen look, and there’s something a little off about it. Nintendo has sold a ton of copies of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and the rest of the industry is doing just fine as well. We pour over NPD sales figures and speculate a bit on holiday trends. Finally, celebrity dancers are sorta upset that their moves are being sold in Fortnite without proper compensation. Are they right or wrong? We discuss. In games played, Richard unlocks more characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and shows some coworkers “Ain’t no party like a Mario Party” in Super Mario Party for Switch. Michael dives head first into Xbox Game Pass and gives us impressions of the X-Com-like Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, and his new addiction, Strange Brigade. He also tries out mobile game Florence and has a different view on it than Richard. Lastly the import title Onimusha: Warlords remaster is out on Switch, and he and Cesar share early thoughts of the improved controls. Cesar sells the guys on several new Switch titles like the Kunio Kun Collection. He’s been playing the game quite a bit while on the go, and if you’re a fan of River City Ransom, this title is for you. He’s also been warring his way through Tiny Metal, and it seems like it will scratch that Advance Wars itch. We've upped our production values thanks to some new equipment and the talented artists at freesound.org. We go West, ARGonauts! We welcome back Twitch streamer and Seattleite Justin Brunelle to talk about all the games and events we're excited for during the jam-packed PAX West weekend. There's plenty to unpack including street fighting, demon slaying, and... goosing? Also, John Madden somehow gets mixed into all this. You'll just have to listen to find out! Before we gush about PAX West, we start the news on a somber note with the Jacksonville Madden tournament shooting that rocked the gaming community. That's followed by the reveal of Streets of Rage 4 and Onimusha: Warlords, then Pokemon becoming the highest grossing media franchise ever. We wind things down with Haunted Halloween '86 coming to Xbox One followed by a trailer for a Chrono Trigger sequel we don't deserve. Oh, the heartbreak! The Stage of History this week welcomes beat 'em up classic Streets of Rage 2 and cyberpunk RPG Shadowrun. Robert then unleashes his symbiote with Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage in Obscura. Don't forget to grab our game codes, then stick with us for another round of Random Select! Who could Robert be this time? See you at PAX West! Onimusha is back, so let's talk about our dream remakes. Dave wants the turn-based tactics of Shining Force to make a comeback, and Brendan is angry that Capcom have said nothing about Dino Crisis. There are other suggestions. A remake of Croc made by From Software? Why not. Gone Home redesigned from the ground up by Ubisoft? Uh, no thanks.
