    Kacie Haberlin, from our 2018 grad class comes back to Delview to talk about her pandemic crocheting hobby that became a small business with a large social media following (@haberlinshobbies) of tens of thousands of people who are inspired every day by her work. She tells us about how she got started and the ups and downs of running a side business while she begins a career as a dental hygienist. Kacie also talks about her battle with Crohn's disease. It's an inspiring and illuminating conversation with an amazing person. Mr. Yuill co-hosts and lends his wisdom to this episode.

    Dayanara Sinclair, Class of 2017, visits us in the podcast studio a couple of weeks after giving an inspiring talk to Media Arts students in Mr. Choy's class about her journey from Disney dream to reality as she is now a 3D animator on the Disney Jr. show, “Alice's Wonderland Bakery”. We talk about how hard work and persistence paid off even though she had to take her coursework online during the pandemic. Dayanara went from working and managing a popular Disney Store to animating for a Disney show. We talk about her creative process and the collaboration that takes place on an animation team as well as some of our favourite animated films and shows.

    From the first sketch we saw coming from Han, we knew she was talented. Over the five years she's been at Delview, she's participated in many Fine Arts Nights, and has produced posters, logos, book covers, social media art, and plenty of whiteboard masterpieces that were painful to erase. She has been practicing for a long time and hopes to continue creating and sharing her art in some form or another into the future. In this episode, we talk about Han's life, art, and the future of art. We also discuss the advent of AI and what that means for artists. Kassie Lind co-hosts this one. We are at Episode 50!!! We've had almost 8 great years so far and hope for many more to come. The students, staff, and other guests are what make this show - there is an endless supply of people we are able to interview, each with their own stories and talents to share.     We love when alumni come back! Tiana Gordon, who graduated from Delview in 2015, returns to talk about her experiences as an interior designer and production designer. She has worked on numerous short films, commercials, and feature films including, “It's A Wonderful Knife” (feat. Jane Widdop, Justin Long, Joel McHale) - in theatres this Christmas, “Cold Copy” - at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC (feat. Jacob Tremblay), and Anthony Shim's award-winning film, “Riceboy Sleeps”. We chat about the process of designing a set, the film business, and how she worked towards something she's always wanted to do since she was a little kid. I taught Akari web design and programming at the beginning of the pandemic as she was just trying to get adjusted to life in Canada. It still astounds me how much grit she has to have navigated that difficult time especially having just left her home and family almost 8000 km away in Tokyo to study in a country where she had to make new friends and learn a new language. They discuss their experiences growing up in Germany and about what surprised them when they arrived in Canada for the first time. Both Marten from Hamburg and Nele from a town near Frankfurt have been wonderful additions to our school and throughout the interview I was impressed by how well-adjusted they were for young people from a country 8000 kilometres away and also how well both of them have been able to understand and speak English. We talk about her experiences with her team helping out in Africa and South America and looking forward to a future playing pro soccer in Europe and applying her marketing skills to help charitable organizations.
