This podcast is based off my experiences in travel and meeting other individuals along the way. However, conversations are not limited to these subjects. If there is one thing I've learned from the many people I have met while traveling, it is that we all have something to contribute to life and to…
Today I just give a brief synopsis of what is going on in the stock market world right now. I am no guru on how things work and occasionally buy stock in hope to make money and better my future. What we are seeing is unprecedented andhas not been seen since the economic crash of 2008. If you are wondering why the world is in stirs at the moment and the internet is pissed off, give this short episode a very quick listen. To my brothers and sisters in the market with your $gme $amc $nok and other stocks tied up, HOLD THE LINE! $WSB
I know I say this every episode but man, I don't think I have been this excited to post, ever. My conversation with @abe_ramirez_(Instagram handle) was one of the most exciting and inspirational chats I have had in a very long time. As you will come to find out listening to the episode, you'll hear the story of how this wild idea transpires and the stories that go along with the photos on his Instagram. Cycling from Central America down to the southernmost tip of South America, Abe tells his story of trial and error, hilarity, and growth with me. I am blown away by this guy and will most definitely be sitting down with him again in the future because one session is simply not enough. I hope you want to hear more too. Please don't forget to subscribe to the podcast using your favorite app..
This week I sit down with an old friend from our grade school through high school days, Shane LemMon. We catch up and reminisce about how things were between us growing up and how so much has changed since then. My friend Shane, @bassthumbsfishing on Instagram, gives me a bit of insight on his life of now being a husband and father has changed him and how the loss of his dearest friend drove him to chase his fishing dreams. I missed this guy and after a little chatting, it seems that although lots in our lives has changed, our friendship is still there. Enjoy!
This week, I sit down with another person who has been so kind and patient in working to schedule a sit down with me for the podcast. As you'll come to hear, Kyle Craft is a construction worker by day and Trophy Truck driving badass on the weekends. Not only does Kyle pilot his father's teams truck but he also navigates for the very well known BJ Baldwin in his spare time. He goes into detail on how he got into the racing space and the awesome things that go down while trying their best to take the #1 podium spot at every event. As the title states, this podcast goes over my recent experience with covid and how it has done a number on me the last 2 weeks. By that I mean it's been more of a nuisance than anything. I am fortunate to have the health of a greek god and have not experienced worse symptoms than those I have had the past 2 weeks. All joking aside, however, it's not been fun, being cooped up at home a majority of the time and I am excited to be out of the woods and on to greener pastures as I move into the final weeks of my first semester at SDSU with winter break around the corner.
This episode was pleasant to record and sit down with an old friend from high school, Tyler Schuch. Tyler lives in Southern California and is based out of Orange County. He captains and manages a privately owned 90+ foot yacht out of Newport Beach where he has been the last 9 or so years. In that time, he's taken some skill from his time spent in the coast guard and applied it to be a boat engineer in some capacity only to end up quite literally "steer the ship." A job he never really intended to do. I hope you enjoy this episode and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the backbay.
A quick life update. I've been just as busy, if not busier than pre-covid times.. ahhh remember the good old days before then? This is just a way for me to get back into the swing of things. I've been wanting to get back to chatting with people. I miss the interaction and time spent sitting across from another human with a mic and letting things flow, so I am trying to get back to that ASAP. I have some things lined up if I can make it happen. Hope you are doing well and staying safe. Check back soon for new episodes!
If you're still here, then you'll want to listen to this episode. With COVID-19 keeping everyone locked up and me working so much lately, it has been hard to get together with preplanned episodes. However, the timing worked out with Ron and we made some podcast magic happen earlier this week. Ron has been in the automotive industry his entire career and been in love with cars since he was a child. As a recommendation from my good friend Anthony Daye, I was told this guy has lived an interesting life and had run ins with some even more interesting people. Ron's story of growing up in Atlanta and eventually making his way to Los Angeles is one heck of a ride, pun intended, and you wont want to miss it. Take a listen as we chat about his passion for cars and how it has been his life's work to be in and or around the smell of raw fuel at any given time.
Seems the world is in a bit of a standstill at the moment. That being the case, I update the podcast with what is going on in my life at the moment. Lack of physical contact with friends has me losing my mind a bit, but school and work have kept me sane. That is, for now at least. With only a few more weeks left at junior college before I transfer to SDSU to finish my degree in Business, I give a heads up on life on why its taken me so long to get to this point in my college career. Hope you are all doing well and enjoy.
Let the title state that I am in fact not dead yet. I know I have been amiss and with this episode I prove that good ol' me is still trekking along just fine, albeit in the shadows a bit. Between a 15 unit semester, a full time job, and a crap ton of anxiety mixed in with a slight side of depression at times, I think I'd say I'm doing alright. That being said, I give my thoughts on the state of the world at this current moment and how we got here. I hope this episode serves as a small buffer between your sanity and what lies beyond your front door and hope to both serve and tickle that muscle between those listening devices so perfectly strapped to the side of your head. Thanks for listening,Neeks
I have been waiting a very long time to find the right time to sit down with Dylan, my guest for this episode. He embodies the spirit of adventure and as you will hear, has a high tolerance for what the world will throw at him on the road. Back in mid 2019, Dylan participated in the Monkey Run Peru, 2019. An event put on by the crazy for adventure people over @: https://www.theadventurists.com/ where people pay them to put them through travel hell. All in good fun of course. What I heard from Dylan during our two hour chat was more than enough to get me excited enough to consider something of this nature in the future. I really hope you enjoy this episode and will consider subscribing for more awesome stuff in the future.
In this weeks episode I sit down with Dan Fresh. He's an all around cool dude whom I was introduced to by another friend. After learning about his life in motorsports and how his love and passion for going fast turned into part of his work, I asked if he would sit down with me and give me some background on how he got to where he is in life. I hope you enjoy the episode and please don't forget to subscribe for more in the future. Share it with a friend if you think they might like it too!
This episode I sat down with a long time friend and giver of solid advice, Anthony Daye. With a friendship that started over the internet some years ago, myself, Anthony, and a group of other car nuts have maintained close relations throughout the years. Anthony has always been one to give unsolicited advice when he saw fit and I've always done my best to listen. In addition to being an employment lawyer where he defends people from anything work related, he's also a father and former Division 1 athlete who once played for the University of Southern California on a full Athletic scholarship. In this hour and a half chat Anthony dishes out his thoughts on obtaining a degree, playing football, and making money off companies that aren't in line with the law. Enjoy!
For those of you returning, you may remember one of my best friends, Colby from an earlier episode. Colby and I both have been very busy with our jobs and other things in life that we don't have the opportunity to catch up as often as we'd like to. The other day however, after a quick chat on the phone, we both found the time to get together with one another and talk about how life has been treating us. With no clear topics in mind, Colby and I set of on every topic that came to mind fluidly. I hope you enjoy the chat! Happy Holidays!
I thought a more thorough chat on this topic was extremely overdue. In this episode, I open up about how credit cards can be useful in the right way and beneficial to you if you travel or are going to make a large purchase or multiple purchases in a short amount of time. Some people may be confused as to why I'm chatting about this again but I've had a lot of people ask me how I make cards work so well for me, so here it goes. Enjoy1
Another quick, but more in depth tell of what I have had going on these past few weeks. From flying to NYC for a wedding, to a road trip through the southwest, and visiting the beautiful green hills of the Irish countryside, my life has been a little bit hectic. I've done all this while also maintaining a full course load in school too, which, if that says anything.. means you can balance having a life outside of work too. You just have to make it happen! Thanks for listening, and share this podcast with a friend that you think might like a listen.
This episode is one that is near and dear to my heart. My cousin Joaquin and I have a peculiar relationship as we are very much cousins, but ones that did not really know one another for a majority of our lives. After meeting around the ages of 8 and 10 years old, we would not really come into contact with one another for another 12 years or so. This was followed by a blooming friendship that I am without a doubt, so thankful for. My cousin and I talk about our interesting story and give mention to our time in Iceland. A story that we can't wait to tell when we get the 4 of us whom set out on that adventure, together again. Thanks for listening.
I sit down with a friend from high school, Aeryk, who is now the head brewer for Black Plague Brewing down in Oceanside. We chat about his journey from simple to complex home brewing and his eventual climb to leading Black Plague to some medals within the industry. In this episode, you'll hear how a turning down money at a well paying job is sometimes worth the leap to do something you love. Check out behind the scenes brewing with Aeryk by following him on instagram @heeg.brews.If you are ever in the San Diego area, make sure to stop by Black Plague Brewing in Oceanside and give them a follow on instagram @blackplaguebrewing
I sit down with my old buddy Reuben this week and chat about our dealings in the past with tough times and our experiences in dealing with that. The two of us go very far back and share a lot of similar interests. From photography to a love for the outdoors, Reuben and I are two people who have an affinity for finding balance in life.
This week I sit down with my roommate and long time friend Christian(IG: @christian.osmaro). A young and hungry individual whom I've had the pleasure knowing for a few years now. Christian embodies the idea of always working to create a better self and earlier this year, challenged himself to do exactly that. In this episode, you'll hear him talk about his experience in going through the motions as a young man and not just failing, but overcoming with grit and determination to be better than the person he was the day before. His ideas on how to always try to be the best version of yourself is what I find to enticing and what I feel you, as listeners, can pull away from this episode to consider doing for yourselves. Thanks for listening
Episode #12 is a dive into my past dealings with mental health. The subject, to me, has always seemed like a grey area for conversation. Millions of people around the world deal with depression, anxiety, and a wide range of other mental health issues that seems to have come to light lately. However, I feel as if this is still a touchy or taboo subject at times and thought it would be worth giving a glimpse into my history of dealing with the death of a close family member and finding alternative ways to go about finding peace within myself and other aspects of my life. You will hear the story of loss and my experience with Psilocybin, the active compound found in psychoactive mushrooms. I explain my reasoning for both considering and choosing to go through with this option, as my trust in the medical field and the rampant failure that SSRI's have had for many patients. This podcast in no way is promoting the use of substances that are controlled. It is merely an insight into my journey in overcoming heavy loss and finding a path through it that did not involve a potentially hazardous prescription to SSRI's. ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! Please, If you are having mental health issues or thinking of hurting yourself speak to someone at following number 1(800) 273-8255 (U.S.)
Josh is a friend from my travels that I had the pleasure of befriending earlier this year in January. In the one evening I spent with my cousin in a Hostel down in San Diego, Josh stuck out to me with his stories of adventure. Inspiring, hilarious, and downright scary at points, I knew Josh had something to offer to my audience. Hailing from Toronto, Josh spends his free time traveling the world. When I met him earlier this year, he was playing volleyball competitively up and down the beaches of Southern California and just bouncing from city to city, sometimes sleeping in his car. His adventurous lifestyle is what I loved about the guy and when he told me about his battle with heart issues his whole life, I was blown away. Living with only 2 functioning chambers in heart (a normal heart has 4) he has never let that slow him down. His mindset of "I'd rather die on my feet" has kept him pushing through life with amazing stories to tell along the way.
Hello and welcome back if you've been here before. If it is your first time hearing the podcast, please consider staying a while and listening to the other great guests and solo episodes I have on hand. This week I bring on Ms. Mary Wayne (IG: @marywayne1) who is no rookie when it comes to adventuring. Coming up on retirement, Mary has a knack for making tough things look simple and the conditioning to get her through some of the worlds coolest treks. She lets nothing get in her way. With 2 marathons under her belt in the last 5 years she took on the 500 mile long Camino de Santiago; A pilgrimage which stretches from the border of Spain and France, and ends at the western coast of Spain during the Summer of 2018. She added to that by completing another trek from Southern Portugal to Spain just a few weeks ago and only seems to be picking up steam. Mary goes into the details of her early life as the child of parents whom were missionaries in Japan and never living in her home country of Australia and how she found her way to the States. This episode is for everyone and anyone who likes travel stories and gives great insight on how to keep pushing those comfort zones in your life and the limits we can sometimes set on ourselves. I hope you enjoy and share with a friend that might pull something away from this episode.Thank you and as always, Keep Seeking the Stoke.-Neeks
Hello and thank you for checking out this weeks episode with my good friend Karen. I've known this wonderful human for years and thought she would be awesome to have on the podcast to talk about some of her experiences traveling alone and then with family in Europe as well. Karen talks about growing up in a large family with a small income and how she opted for a trip to Europe over a party for her Quinceanera when she turned 18. Not actually thinking much of it, the opportunity randomly presents itself as Karen's mom has a contact in Spain and asks her if she'd like to take a few weeks to leave home alone and visit a place so far from home. What Karen find is a love for adventure, some good friends, and a few things to look out for along the way. This episode is inspiring for those who may be on the fence about traveling alone, male or female, and looking for a bit of insight that I maybe wasn't able to give in some of my previous episodes. Again, thank you for checking in this week. If this is your first time here, consider staying a while and checking out some of the other episodes I have waiting for your listening pleasure. You are sure to pull something of value from them that may help you in seeking your stoke. If you are a returning listener, you are loved beyond measure. Make sure to share this show with your friends and family, and please tag me in it if you do so. Thanks and as always, keep Seeking the Stoke. -Neeks
Thank you for those that have returned for this weeks episode and welcome to all the new listeners! Please consider subscribing for future weekly episodes and listen to some of the past ones if you have some time.. You might just find you like it here a bit. This week, I have my good friend and artist James (Jim) Wharf on to talk about his career as a tattoo and visual Artist. Based out of Elizabeth Street Tattoo in Riverside, California; Jim has been slinging ink the past 18 years in a plethora of fashions. Not held back by the idea of conforming to a "style" he has been open throughout his time in his career to taking on new challenges in the field of body ink. During the episode, Jim and I crack a few beers and talk about his time growing up outside of Reno, Nevada, where he was raised and how an injury while skating in his youth led him to seek out other options for income. Already being fairly interested in the idea of artwork from a young age, Jim naturally progressed in Art School to then meeting Brian Foster who took him under his wing as an apprentice at what was then Inkaholics in Moreno Valley. Now, 18 years into a passionate career, Jim lets his creativity roam free on canvas, paper, and the bodies of individuals that are lucky enough to have an idea he can make a reality. I hope you enjoy this conversation with what started out as a consultation and has now turned into a full fledged bromance. Thank you for tuning in and again, if you liked the episode, please subscribe for more guuud stuff to come.. OH.. and always, continue Seeking the Stoke-Neeks
This week's episode I invite an old friend and business entrepreneur, Nick Psomas on to the show to talk about the inception of Peak Suspension company and how it has grown so much in the last year. Nick opens up about how the idea of the company became a thing and even chats about the hardships of life years prior and overcoming rough times. I know that I got way more out of this conversation than I ever expected and hope that you do too. Please check out Nick's Endeavor with Peak Suspension on Instagram by looking up @peaksuspension and giving him a follow for more rad stuff to come in the future!
This weeks episode is round 2 of the Europe trip that I took back in February and March of earlier this year. In just over an hour I talk about my experience in getting to Amsterdam from Spain and getting a steal of a deal for 2 nights in a Hostel in Downtown Amsterdam. I make new friends with a random girl from Instagram via my little brother, go out for a night of drinking with my bunkmates, and watch a Canadian woman have to be practically carried home after taking Magic Truffles and drinking too much. I give some good knowledge on how to get to the city from the airport and also how to see the Anne Frank house museum if thats your thing as well. If this is your first time here, welcome and please consider subscribing to future episodes as I have already had some great guests with more to come here in the near future. If you are a returning listener, thank you from BOTTOM.OF.MY. HEART! I really do appreciate you all that turn to my podcast for a little time in your day, whether that is at your desk during work, a roadtrip, or on your commute home. It is most definitely appreciated. Please, if this podcast was entertaining in even the smallest part, consider sharing it with a friend, coworker, roommate, adventure friend, who you think may find it entertaining or benefit from listening. Thank you again, and take care!
Hey, thanks for being here and listening to the podcast. The feedback has been amazing and I am so appreciative of everyone thats been contacting me. I'm really trying to bring all you listeners value with future guests in the way of having something to take away and apply to your everyday lives. That being said, with today's episode, I decided to mix things up with one of my best friends and tell you the story of my first ever roadtrip as an "adult". At 19 years old, and our buddy Steven being 18, we hit the road with 3G service and the idea of making it to Vancouver, BC and back home in 10 days in one piece. I'd like to think we did so, even if we feel like we just barely made it home. Please enjoy this conversation with my good bud, Colby
This episode is a great one! I welcome my first guest and long time friend Steven on to the show to talk business and coffee.. well for Steven they are one in the same but it is a really good chat with a dude that is so passionate for his craft and a long one at that for those long commutes or cardio sessions. Thank you to everyone that is still listening and checking back on the weekly. I really look forward to bringing you some amazing interviews here in the future. Thank you and please consider sharing this episode with friends if you liked it and rating it in the apple podcast app!
This episode is a dive into what, to date, has been one of the greatest adventures I'd ever been on. Prior to my solo trip to Europe, the only trip I'd done by myself was a 4 day trip to the PNW, where I flew into Portland, stayed at a hostel, and rented a car to get around. That story will come later, but it was the trip I needed to see if I had the courage to leave to a place so far from home by myself and make the most of it. This episode goes into how that trip transpired, and the first part(first few days) of that trip through Spain. Thanks for listening if you are here. If you liked the episode, please hit the share button on the iTunes app and give the podcast a rating. I'm going to be doing my best to stick to a schedule of uploading every week and hope to have you back here. Stay tuned for more to come! Thanks!
This episode dives right into who I am as an individual, my reason for the things that I find to be worth enjoying in life, and how I manage to do that financially. I am not a financial guru or advisor so I, in no way can teach you how to make millions and live a debt free life, but I can give some insight as to how I look at money now and utilize it as a tool to chase my passions and live the life that I want to live.
Just a short intro to who it is that I, Neeko Solis, am and what this podcast will be about. I hope that you stick around for the episodes to come as I have some great guests that will join me in future episodes. I feel you can learn from, laugh at, and enjoy what I hope is to be a really enjoyable form of free entertainment. If you like what you hear, please share the show with your friends as this is a one-man wrecking crew and I hope to reach as many people as possible. Let's do this! Welcome, and thank you!
