Joshua was born and raised in Moreno Valley, CA. His life holds stories and lessons that some will find relatable and far too familiar. Josh was saved in prison and devoted his life to Christ, but after his release, found himself navigating disappointment in church institutions. Joshua shares wisdom that everyone can learn from. He has faced loss and hardship, yet found hope in the midst of the wild ride. His music shares about the transformation and calling he has found in Christ, and also the familial community he has found in HOG MOB Ministries. Neighbor's Table Podcast aims to facilitate restorative conversation around the realities of criminal justice and mass incarceration. Our prayer is that the church in America would know how to enter into these conversations, and that movement would start with listening to our neighbors. Something powerful happens when people listen to one another. We hope that love of neighbor leads to advocacy for those that society overlooks. We offer a full day Liminal Learning experience that walks through the history of the criminal justice system, juxtaposed to the restorative justice model of Jesus. Get an insider's peek into the glamorous yet complex world of film production in a conversation with film producer Darren Moorman on The Debrief Podcast with Matthew Stephen Brown. Darren's entry into the film industry wasn't just a professional move; it was a journey to align his faith-inspired stories with the awe-inspiring spectacle of film. Though shrouded with numerous trials like the writer's strike that slowed the industry to a massive financial slog, he has not been deterred. Darren, whose dedication to storytelling and steadfast faith have propelled his success in Hollywood, embraces these obstacles, demonstrating that bravery embodies not only survival but truly living.Questions we answer on this episode from our listeners:1. Janet from Yucaipa, CA. Should Christians watch horror movies?2. RJ from Bullhead City, Arizona. In Hollywood you hear stories of people selling their souls to Satan. Is this a physical contract you sign with a demon or is selling your soul more of you just living an ungodly lifestyle and choosing that life over Jesus or does nobody know? I love your sermons and I love the podcast! Thank you!!!3. Mark from Moreno Valley, CA. I went and saw the movie Oppenheimer the second day it opened, not knowing of the sex scenes. In a recent article from Denison Forum, it was stated that this movie, because of these scenes, caused millions of Americans to commit Adultery based on Matthew 5:28. I remember thinking when these scenes were shown, "why did they have to put this in the movie"? Just wondering what Pastor Matt's opinion is on this?4. Kimberly from Phelan, CA. I've been having a difficult time answering this question: "Is it sinful to support nudity or to see nudity.” It has been so normalized in today's society and it personally bothers me, but with some of my Christian friends it's normal to see. I understand that it doesn't say nudity is a sin in the Bible. However, I also think the action leading up to the nudity or the purpose behind it can make it sinful. An example would be viewing a scene in a movie where a woman is topless, taking a shower, topless in a bar, or a nude man in a random scene, etc. I believe that nudity is a sin if it does not have a godly purpose behind it, which is hardly ever seen in movies or tv shows. Like when God told Isaiah to preach in his nakedness to the people, that is okay because God commanded him to. Can you see people naked and it not be sexual on a screen or off?5. Anonymous from Loma Linda, CA. Is pedophilia as prevalent as the (typically conservative) media is making it seem in Hollywood?

In this episode, we talk about something very important - bullying. Yes, it is a very popular topic, but it can be a scary thing to talk about as your child gets older and especially if he or she has special needs. It is a parents worst nightmare to find out that your child has been a victim of bullying, especially if it cost them their life. I was reading the news the other day and saw that one family in my local area had received a $27 million settlement in a lawsuit over bullying death of a 13-year-old Moreno Valley, Ca student. This case has made national headlines because the child was not protected by the school district. Although this family was able to get financial restitution for what happened, no one can ever put a dollar amount on your child's life. As parents, we need to be equipped with knowledge that will ensure our children are not victims of bullying and that we know what steps to take if bullying is suspected.Resources Mentioned in This Episode: https://abc7.com/diego-stolz-settlement-27-million-moreno-valley/13778068/www.commonsensemedia.orgwww.pacer.org/bullying/resources/parentswww.stopbullying.gov*EMAIL LIST*Click here to join my email list for more free content to help you on your parenting journey!or go to strongermindsstrongeryouth.com/jointhelist*REACH OUT & SHARE*Email me your stories to share with others parents just like you @ jessika@strongermindsstrongeryouth.com *CONNECT WITH ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA!!!* & *TAG ME IN YOUR STORIES!!!*#jessikashields or @strongermindsstrongeryouthGet Social to Stay Connected!!!FB: @StrongerMindsStrongerYouthInstagram: @StrongerMindsStrongerYouthLinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/jessikashieldsTo access more Podcast resources, visit strongermindsstrongeryouth.comThank you for listening!

SB 14 will include human trafficking of a minor within the definition of a serious felony, enhancing the punishment for felonies pursuant to existing sentencing provisions commonly known as the Three Strikes Law. ASHTON KUTCHER STEPS DOWN AS BOARD CHAIR OF THORN: Ashton resigned as Chairman of the Board of Thorn along with his wife Mila Kunis. This was the result of outrage over the couples support for Danny Masterson, their friend, who was convicted of raping two women. Certainly, we understand the issue especially for victims of violent sex crimes since Million Kids has spent the last 15 years in prevention and intervention related to all sex crimes. However, Million Kids wants to recognize the incredible contribution that Thorn has made over the past few years in supporting the development of technologies like Spotlight and generously sharing that technology with law enforcement across the nation. Because of their commitment to funding of this technology, thousands of young people around the world have been identified as victims or potential victims of online sex crimes. This technology has allowed law enforcement to quickly locate potential pedophiles and provide the information that helps sex crimes investigations to be successful in an expedient manner in getting the bad guy off the street and help bring critical assistance to victims. We are grateful for the contribution Ashton and Mila have made. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/million-kids/support

In partnership with the National Building Museum, AIP Podcast hosts a series of deep dive conversations from the Intersections series. This is a re-broadcast of a conversation with Demar Matthews. Founder of OffTop Design, Matthews will open the season with a presentation that addresses how architecture amplifies or silences perspectives and narratives and question if and how buildings, streets and landscapes serve to affirm identity and define community. Matthews' practice investigates the power of architecture as a cultural signifier and vehicle of traditions, values and identity. In this episode, we explore the question,“What if Black neighborhoods were defined by the beauty of the architecture that represents Black culture?” In Fall 2022, the National Building Museum is bringing together leading Black voices in design, art, and architecture for INTERSECTIONS, a series of dynamic discussions about culture, equity and representation through the lens of design. Launching September 16th and running through December 14th, Intersections engages nationally recognized Black architects, designers and artists in conversations focused on social justice in the built environment. Through interactive lectures and hands-on workshops, this series is designed to provoke new thinking, spark conversation, enlighten and empower. Born in Moreno Valley, California, Demar received his Bachelor's from HBCU Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and completed his Master of Architecture at Woodbury University where he was awarded the Graduate Thesis Prize for his project Black Architecture: Unearth-ing the Black Aesthetic. His introduction to the field was through his article ‘A Black Architecture Education Experience'. Demar believes architecture and good design should not only be for the privileged. Every community deserves to be proud of the built environment around them, and the built environment around them should be based on the cultures of the people who live there; regardless of income, race, and gender.
