B. Dylan Hollis is a social media personality and New York Times bestselling author who has tasked himself with baking and tasting unusual recipes from bygone years. Born and raised on the island of Bermuda, he later attended college at the University of Wyoming to further a career as a jazz pianist and arranger. He stumbled into both baking and social media fame at once in 2020, when quarantine boredom led him to film an investigation of an old cookbook he had collected from an estate sale. Hundreds of recipes later, Dylan now entertains millions across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram with his unique style and fast jokes. Dylan Joins Google to discuss his book, “Baking Across America: A Vintage Recipe Road Trip.” The book is a cross-country culinary journey, as Dylan ventures through the culture capitals of America to savor the very best bakes the nation has to offer. His retro recipes span the decades from the 1900s to the 2000s, and feature famous – and forgotten – desserts from every state. Buckle up for a summer series through four powerful stories in Scripture! From compassion on the Road to Jericho, to resilience on the Road to Calvary, discovery on the Road to Emmaus, and transformation on the Road to Damascus, these journeys remind us what it means to follow Jesus. Each week, we'll journey through core elements of discipleship: spending time with Jesus, learning from Him, and becoming more like Him.For the first week of our series, we'll dive into a story that shows that knowing the right thing and doing the right thing are two different things. The story of the ambushed traveler rescued by a good Samaritan on the Road to Jericho reminds us that love is inconvenient, and offers a great road map for how the way of Jesus is radically counter-cultural.

Some journeys are measured not in miles but in memories created along the way. When I invited my middle daughter Zoe Jane to accompany me on a cross-country drive to Indiana, neither of us fully understood the adventure that awaited. What began as a practical mission to collect my late father's belongings from storage transformed into a 4,500-mile expedition through America's heartland – one that would test my driving endurance while strengthening our father-daughter bond. The road stretched endlessly before us as we traversed Montana (surprisingly vast), South Dakota (unexpectedly beautiful), Iowa, Illinois, and finally Indiana. Though we spent barely twelve hours at our destination, the journey itself became the story. Zoe Jane, my resident foodie, selected our brewery stops along the way, including an unforgettable converted church in Peoria with what might be the most beautiful bathrooms I've ever encountered. Between her phone time in the back seat and our shared meals at carefully chosen eateries, we found moments of connection that make parenting worthwhile.Among the journey's treasures were the albums/records among other things we collected from storage – physical artifacts connecting generations as Zoe surprised me by selecting John Lennon and Yoko Ono recordings. Our pilgrimage to the Field of Dreams in Iowa carried special significance, representing both my father and my wife's father's love for baseball and the deeper father-son relationships the site symbolizes. As Zoe prepares for her high school swimming career and I ready myself to return to coaching this fall, this road trip stands as a milestone in our relationship – proof that sometimes the longest journeys yield the most meaningful connections. Join us for more adventures as the Miles and Mountains podcast continues exploring both the physical landscapes we traverse and the emotional terrain we navigate together.Shout out: ZoeyJane Ag-Gear Store https://www.aggearstore.com/Use Code: Milesmountains For 15% Off Alter Ego Ambassador: https://alteregorunning.com/Miles & Mountains Promo Code: Milesmountainsyr3Raising Awareness:Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW)Mental Health Send us a text

When Sarah Kendzior packs up her family for a road trip across America, she makes sure her kids keep their eyes wide open. She wants them to see this country's wonders and its flaws. Her new memoir, “The Last American Road Trip,” recounts the dozens of drives they've taken since 2016. They leave their home in Missouri and crisscross the country, even as earth-shaking events remake it. Along the way, she disentangles venerated American ideals from the mythology of American exceptionalism. She gapes in wonder at the majesty of the national parks and celebrates the forethought that created them — while acknowledging the threat facing them today. Even the great St. Louis Gateway Arch in her hometown represents both “a triumph and a tragedy,” she writes. It's “a gateway and a memorial, a monolith with no practical purpose that looks dramatically different depending on where you stand.” Kendzior joins host Kerri Miller to take us all on a road trip across America. Grab your favorite snacks, buckle your seatbelt and come along. Guest: Sarah Kendzior is a journalist and best-selling author. Talked about how being Reformed is relevant to, well, everything, including the flash flood in Texas recently. Then we discussed David Allen's new book, what it says about me, and how it uses scholarly sources. Sorry it wasn't broadcast live, as I thought it was! We will try to fix things for next time!

Two years ago, Eva packed up her life in Portland, left a breakup in the rearview mirror, and hit the open road to start over in Austin, Texas… solo. What followed was an epic road trip, equal parts grief, healing, awe, and badassery. In this reissued episode, Eva shares the behind-the-scenes of that transitional season—one where everything was falling apart, and somehow also coming together better than she ever could've planned. It's summer. People are road-tripping. Maybe you're also in a season of upheaval. Maybe you're grieving, starting over, or wondering if it's possible for life to get better than you imagined.
