We've been here before, that is to say it's November and Everton are in turmoil.Bill 'Jack Frost meets Harvey Dent' Kenwright seems up for the challenge of saving the club from Peter Johnson's wreckage, but he'll have to wait another three months to see an Everton goal at the Street end, natch. It's not just low scoring though, it's also fast kicking, mainly by Olivier Dacourt and Marco Materazzi on opposition players' shins. There's apologies for John Hartson and Gary Pallister, as well as a lifetime of gratitude to Kevin Joseph Campbell, who makes his debut in April and finishes in May as the team's top scorer.Remember, SOBs: Bad Everton good anything else. Les and Dave discuss whether David Moyes' habit of choosing his most "trusted" players is damaging team performances and results, before asking whether the manager needs time to build a squad as he has done previously at Everton and, more recently and more successfully, at West Ham.A look at his West Ham record feels very familiar to this version of Everton:2017–18: 13th place (first spell, took over in November and kept them up)2019–20: 16th place (returned mid-season, again stabilised them)2020–21: 6th place (record 65 points, qualified for Europa League).2021–22: 7th place (back‑to‑back top‑seven finishes, Europa League semi‑finals).2022–23: 14th place (struggled in league but won Europa Conference League).2023–24: 9th place (top half again in his final season in charge). We then look ahead to two important games against Newcastle and West Ham. Will Moyes be forced to utilise his squad more? Is defeat against Burnley unthinkable, even if Everton get a result at Newcastle?Let us know your thoughts... Learn more about your ad choices. Les and Dave reflect on half a season into life at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and something doesn't feel right. The atmosphere's flat, results aren't clicking, and more fans than ever are saying "it just doesn't feel like Everton anymore."In this episode, we dive deep into the science behind why moving grounds affects club identity - and whether the Hill Dickinson naming rights deal has made things worse. Walter Smith has turned down the mighty Sheffield Wednesday to see if he can win nine league titles in a row with Everton. It would help if the team could score a goal at Goodison before the end of November. In contrast to the summer of 1997 a flurry of exotic signings arrive, but the big transfer news of the season is a seismic departure orchestrated in secret by the nefarious food hamper magnate Peter Johnson. The co-hosts start secondary school, where Kev's bunking off early in his first week to make the coach to Notts Forest, while Liam's meeting Richard Dunne and charming his fellow first years with his student council campaign.Three left-footed centre halves, Walter? What approach to Everton take in the transfer window after being dumped out of the FA Cup? And what will that mean for Barry and Beto? The fourth-kit fiasco is also slammed - well, at least by two of us - and we moan about VAR after the latest shambles in the League Cup.

With Paddy still absent - last spotted in a Noosa drinking spot - Matt is joined by the Liverpool Echo's Everton correspondent Joe Thomas this week. We assess where the defeat to Sunderland leaves the team. Keep powder dry for the summer? Or chips in in the transfer market in the race for a European place? What could have been a memorable week of football that saw Everton move up the table and progress in the FA Cup has turned out to be a disaster. On the pitch, the team looks devoid of ideas and players lack confidence, and the manager is once again dampening expectations. Off the pitch, some fans are struggling to adapt to the new surroundings, and the club released a navy and pink that will only be synonymous with another early FA Cup exit. The timing of the (let's face it, needless) fourth kit couldn't have been worse, given comments from Tom Beahon, co-founder of Castore, who last week said: "We live in a capitalist society [not entirely true], if people couldn't afford it, those prices wouldn't be charged." Les and Dave go in on all that and those horrific penalties. We'd love to know your thoughts on it all. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

LISTEN IN FULL: https://tinyurl.com/3pcatfae Matt, Mick and Rob are back to get plenty off their chest after the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers. We look at the struggles at home lately and what the actual aims should be for the rest of the season.

Everton toiled to a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Les, Ian and Steve react at the stadium, while Dave and Matt have their say on a tough night for the Blues.

The Everton rollercoaster continues! Giulia Bould joins Matt on the podcast this week with Paddy in Australia. Unfortunately they have a challenging afternoon to reflect on. What went so wrong against Brentford in the 4-2 defeat? And why have Everton already suffered three heavy defeats at Hill Dickinson Stadium against mid table teams? We also look at the transfer window. What are Everton expecting? What do they need? And how do you cover them?

Les and Dave pick through another woeful home defeat for Everton. Once again, Moyes has needlessly changed a winning team, and it's seen Everton slump to a third heavy defeat at home to mid-table opposition. Is it down to the manager? Should he be doing better against teams around Everton, even with limited resources? And can he put it right ahead of a huge week of league and cup games? Learn more about your ad choices. After a brief chat about Burnley and the latest Everton penalty controversy, Matt and Paddy take stock after a busy year and ahead of a busy month. How active will Everton be in January? How active should they be in January? And how much progress has the club made over the last 12 months?

Laura and Connor share their thoughts from Turf Moor after a 0-0 draw with Burnley, before Matt and Dave delve into what went wrong. Why is the attack stalling at the moment? And why weren't the Blues awarded a penalty for handball?

Matt and Paddy look at the future of Dwight McNeil after his return to the starting XI on Saturday night. There are reports that Sean Dyche is keen to sign the out-of-favour winger, but can Everton afford to let him or go? Or is there no way they can turn down a decent offer? Harrison Armstrong's future could be impacted by any approach. David Moyes seems to be softening in his stance on a potential recall in January. We start the show with an anniversary though. It's been a year since the Friedkin Group took full control of the Blues. What has gone well and what could be better from their first year?

Matt and Dave take a look back at the 1-0 loss to Arsenal at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Why were the Blues so poor in attack? Should Everton have had a penalty after Saliba's foul on Barry? Should Dibling start at Burnley?
