Chat_UP is Unofficial Partner's AI series created in collaboration with TFG Labs. The brief: cut through the AI firehose, work out what matters, and bring it back to the business of sport. Three stories this week.Story One — Google I/O 2026Google used its developer conference to reposition from "a search company that does AI" to an AI infrastructure company. Headlines: Gemini 3.5, Gemini Omni (real-time processing) and Gemini Spark, a proactive always-on agent that brings agents to search. Plus "Ask YouTube" — pulling answers out of videos rather than watching them. Why it matters for sport: if fans send agents to fetch scores and highlights rather than searching themselves, the SEO-built internet shifts under everyone's feet. It raises hard questions for the sponsorship measurement economy (it's an agent engaging, not a fan) and for anyone building on someone else's land — Google can devote a team to your idea and eat your company. Andy's takeaway: get your house in order, own and structure your own data so you can switch foundation models at will.Story Two — The End of the AI Subsidy Era?A cluster of cost stories: Microsoft cancelled internal Claude Code licenses over token-based billing, Uber reportedly burned through its 2026 AI budget in four months, and US AI software prices jumped 20–37% in six months. Is the bill finally landing? Why it matters: SaaS-era seat pricing is breaking down as agentic systems do the work of many. The in-housing dream — replacing agencies with "two smart people and a model" — looks shakier once you absorb the price volatility the vendor used to carry. For low-margin, high-volume businesses (betting being the obvious one), a few percentage points on cost-per-inference is existential, not a line-item. Andy's counter: much of this can run locally on open-source models, and Chinese models are catching up fast at a tenth of the price.Story Three — Bryson DeChambeau & the Athlete CreatorThe golfer-turned-YouTuber, in contract talks with LIV, is a proxy for the athlete-creator question. He's been on the AI train for years — using and then leading an eight-figure acquisition of AI coaching start-up Sportsbox AI.Why it matters: the collapse of production cost liberates the wannabe Brysons, but the real change is top-line — launching clothing lines, apps and realistic content without occupying an athlete's training time. The deeper thread is disintermediation: leagues being routed around by their own star athletes, and the old rights-holder puzzle of making space for personalities while selling exclusive TV deals.About the co-hostAndy Shora leads TFG Labs. His background is QuantumBlack, McKinsey and BCG Gamma — a wealth of experience from outside sport, brought to bear on the sector.About TFG LabsTFG Labs is the innovation engine of TFG (formerly 21st Group), a business evolving from data-and-insights into an "augmented intelligence" company serving sports organisations. Labs was set up to get ahead of AI and build practical agentic systems that solve real problems in sport — deliberately not chasing the hype cycle.Got questions or voice notes? Fresh off a 56 point drubbing in Barossa, Sparrow and Needles are back!! Some say they're fickle fancasters — others just busy professionals...Regardless, they love to spend time with Nordic Viking Warriors and Playful Killer Whales discussing all things Orange Army, so it's a PREMIUM full house episode this week: Sparrow, Needles, Ragnar Lothbrok and Orca. Generally talking over each other, sometimes making coherent points. Always unfiltered.So...., we got some troops back and all of a sudden we're brilliant at football and a delight to watch. Funny that. Turns out Stormy is quite good, as is Cadman. In fact, if there was a drug that administered the same dopamine hit as watching Callaghan break out of the centre square and land a perfectly weighted kick into the outstretched mittens of Cadman, we'd all be addicts. Better than Meth.Speaking of which, GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY IS A FARCE.... according to avid fan Brett, who writes in to share his thoughts on changing our name. We all generally disagree, but love the input nonetheless — keep it coming Brett and Scotty. On to the Massive Game this week — the Battle Of The Bridge (always was, always will be), LFG!!! Tough one. Crowd will have specks of orange in the sea of red, just how we like it at the SCG. Hopefully we see the return to form of TFG (who showed glimpes last week) for another Brett Kirk medal. (Thank F*K Luke Parker is lone gone...)Enjoy the Friday Night Lights at the SCG, good luck if you're there looking for love, and remember: Never Surrender.----To get in contact, drop an email, comment on Spotify or message on X.We love reviews or ratings.Email: thesquinterspodcast@gmail.comYouTube: NeverSurrenderByTheSquintersX: The SquintersInstagram: gws_squintersFB: thesquintersTikTok: the.squinters

Allianz Trade's 2026 Risk Barometer identifies the 10 most pressing concerns faced by corporates for the year ahead, encompassing the views of 3,338 risk management experts, spanning 97 countries and territories. AI's jump from eighth to second place in the Barometer rankings in just one year draws attention to the possibility of dark horses when it comes to risk. For Murrow, concentration is one of these dark horses.
In this episode, Lawrence and Alainta unpack the age-old belief that more money automatically means a better life. Is the “greener grass” we're chasing actually fulfillment—or just a bigger paycheck? The exclusion of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) from finance isn't driven by mere moral neglect, but by systemic infrastructural constraints - amplified by incomplete data. In a recent episode of Trade Finance Global's (TFG) podcast series, Trade Finance Talks, Silvia Andreoletti, Senior Reporter at TFG, sat down with Adel Meer, Manager of SME Finance, Solutions & Impact, at the World Bank Group (WBG).

You responded on the #backtalk channel of the Discord. 0:29:00 Growing as a Family with Board Games We started The Family Gamers Podcast when we had three kids, age 7 and under. Back then, we were really just playing with the oldest and trying to find ways to include the preschooler. We started playing very simple games with our oldest when she was probably 3 years old. We did play some CandyLand, but we mostly played simple “family” games rather than kids’ games. We were often trying to rule-shift or play games that were very simple (like Zombie Dice, which we mention back in episode 1!), in part because our oldest started reading at a very young age. So we didn’t need games that avoided reading. She also really enjoyed the adult attention she got from doing “adult” things. And then our middle child got old enough to want to join in the games. Unfortunately, we discovered many “family games” don’t work well with multiple children when at least one can’t read yet. That is when we first realized that when gaming with very young children, games need to be short, with very simple decisions, no reading, and limited symbols & counting. We were barely aware of HABA games and other games geared towards very young children, but we learned! (Episode 36) Teaming Up: Playing with Multiple Children We also would “team up” a parent with a kid. The job of the parent was to present and explain the available decisions, without forcing the kid into any specific option. We recommend using house rules or variants, as long as everyone agrees how to play! It’s OK if small children just want to use the game pieces to play “let’s pretend”. If that bothers other children playing (or you as the parent), you need to clarify this with the kid – it’s not right or wrong, just have a plan for how to handle it. Maybe it means finishing this game and coming back later to play with the kid-generated rules. “You want to say ‘yes’ as much as possible.” – Andrew As the kids got a little older, we noticed that our younger children were trying to emulate their older sibling(s). (This is still an issue with teenagers, by the way.) This made it even more important to emphasize being a gracious winner and avoid being a sore loser. But it also means that you have to find ways to include the younger sibling(s) even as the older children want to graduate away from “kids games”. We looked for ways to handicap games, but also looked for games that would play to our younger children’s strengths, so they would not ALWAYS lose. It’s Different Now In 2026, we would recommend BoardGamesForAllAges.com. Tom has created “B-mods” which are handicapping rules to allow players of different levels to really be able to play TOGETHER. The structure encourages kids to keep leveling up, with fewer and fewer handicaps. We are also now in a phase of life where board gaming as a family looks very different: our kids are all in middle & high school now. And their interactions with games are different. It’s no longer about leveling the playing field, it’s about honoring the ways that each of them want to interact with board gaming. Our oldest loves conventions, but it’s not about playing games; it’s about being with people. Our middle child loves playing and teaching games and will try almost anything, anytime. Our youngest needs a theme that really grabs him. Now that they are older, their gaming is no longer driven by their ability. Now it’s all about their interests and their free time. It’s OK if board gaming is not the best choice for your family activities right now! 1:00:10 New Backtalk Question People train their whole lives and put it all on display in their specific sport once every four years at the Olympics and we all marvel at it. In the second episode of Future of Trade, Trade Finance Global and Standard Chartered explore why digital trade adoption continues to lag behind innovation. TFG's Mark Abrams speaks with Samuel Mathew, Managing Director and Global Head of Documentary Trade at Standard Chartered, on the difference between digitisation and true digitalisation, the interoperability challenges holding paperless trade back, and the role of legacy infrastructure. The episode also examines the foundations needed for AI in trade finance, the growing relevance of digital assets and tokenisation, and why regulatory progress remains necessary but insufficient for digital trade to scale.
As 2025 comes to a close, the TFG crew sits down for an honest, introspective conversation about growth, lessons learned, and the moments that shaped them over the past year. Through shared reflections and personal insights, they look inward at how they've evolved—individually and together—while setting intentions for the road ahead.
