TRT: 3:14 LINKS MENTIONED: http://www.ChristineBlosdale.com Welcome back to the Micro Podcast on Podcasting I'm your host, Christine Blosdale, your motivational multimedia coach. I teach people how to create their own podcast and podcast, which is the video version of their podcast for. And social media platforms. And before I get started, I just wanted to give a big shout out to the United Kingdom, the UK, whom has made the micro podcast on podcasting number 36 in the How To category on Apple Podcasts! Thank you so much, United Kingdom. I'll keep trying to impress you as much as I can with these episodes. So thank you again. For your wonderful support and for listening to the Micro podcast on podcasting today we're gonna talk about one of the most popular questions that I get asked when I'm training someone to create their own podcast. And that is, With so many podcasts available, is it worth my time actually creating my own podcast? To put it simply, yes, it's worth it. If you're a coach or a consultant, or you have a product or a service that you wanna offer the world, one of the best ways to market your business is through a podcast. Now, I say that with a bit of a warning. You do not wanna make your podcast very salesy and all about you and your business. No, no. You want to make sure that your. Inspires, motivates, educates, entertains. If you have the ability to do any of those things, educate, inspire, motivate, entertain. If you have the ability to do that, then you have the ability to give your audience something that they need. And it doesn't matter if there's a gazillion podcast out there. You are unique and this, I have to drive home the point all the time with my coaching clients. You are unique. and only you possess the skillset and the gifts. You have, maybe you're an expert at time management and you have the ability to give people tips and tricks on how they can better manage their time and maybe have a healthy work family balance. If that's your skillset, then you need to create a podcast and help people do that again. There might be other podcasts that deal with time management, but there's only one you. There's only one you, and you have a unique perspective on life, on business, on philosophy, whatever. It is the topic that you want to talk about on your show. You have a very unique perspective, and that's why when I'm coaching my clients, I make sure that they tune in to what that uniqueness is and that. Get that across in their podcast show. So don't worry about how many other podcasts there are. Focus on yours, make it the best it can be, and make it a true representative of who you are. I have a long format podcast out of the box with Christine, the podcast for Conscious Entrepreneurs, and I also have a short form or a micro podcast, which is the micro podcast on podcast. In each of those shows, I make sure that I create the best content that I can. That's what you do in life in general, right? You wanna make sure that you do your best, and trust me, the right people will hear it. And if you're doing the video version of the podcast, the right people will see it. Well, if that's a question you've had on your mind, I hope I answered it. If you wanna reach out to me for any of your podcasting questions, you can do so by going to ChristineBlosdale.com. That's ChristineBlosdale.com. Don't worry about the spelling. I'll have a link in the show notes and just drop me a line. Let me know how I can help you in your podcast journey. #podcast #podcastingforbeginners

PODCASTS ARE NOT JUST ABOUT AUDIO ANYMORE! Even though it requires a little bit more work, we are reaching a phase with video podcasting that is super exciting. While much of the work we do is delivered via audio formats such as an MP3 on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, etc. the popularity of podcasts in a video format is taking off like crazy. Personally, I love this aspect of modern day podcasting! And when you discover the possibilities, I think you'll love it too. Videos delivered via YouTube and Facebook can be very powerful and can reach a lot of people. YouTube alone has the potential to bring you millions of new listeners (and viewers) and allows you to reach a whole new audience you might never have been able to reach before. And that is something to get excited about! For more tips on Podcasting or to schedule a consultation with me for Coaching visit http://www.ChristineBlosdale.com

PODCASTING TIP: KEEP IT SIMPLE! One of the biggest obstacles newbie casters need to conquer is the sheer overwhelm that can happen when first starting out. It's understandable since there's a lot to consider as we prepare to launch a podcast. Genre. Theme. Show Format. Logo and Artwork. Show Length. Live or Pre-Taped. Solo or Co-Hosted. Recording and Editing Software. And the list can go on and on and on. That's why I coach my clients on the importance of KEEPING IT SIMPLE. Especially in the beginning. If you have too many things to worry about chances are you will freeze in fear and overwhelm and you won't follow thru with getting that podcast out into the world. And the world needs you - and your podcast - right now! So who makes a great podcast host? Well, you of course! You can be a stay at home mom who knows how to feed a family of four with healthy foods on $10 a day. You can be someone who was recently divorced and you had to navigate the legal minefield that can be a part of living "happily ever after" after the marriage is over, and now you can inspire others that are going through that same process. Maybe you're in a long distance relationship and you and your partner have developed wonderful ways at coping with the distance while remaining madly in love. MUSIC CALMS THE SAVAGE BEAST! In this episode we are diving into how to find that perfect piece of music to open your Podcast with. Some call it theme music, others call it opening music. Whatever you want to call it - this is an important step in the process of creating your Podcast. Matching the perfect tune to your show is like finding your soul mate. It can seem elusive at times but when you find the exact right fit - you will know it. Be careful not to have something too jarring or overly modulated as you don't want to scare away listeners. The type of music you choose is up to you and it should reflect not only your show's genre or theme but you as a host as well. That said, here is a great resource I use when choosing my theme music. It's called SHUTTERSTOCK https://shutterstock.7eer.net/c/1273442/42912/1305 You can pick from thousands of possibilities for your theme music at Shutterstock - and their artists make world-class music so that you can make world-class podcasts and videos. You can just purchase the rights to use one song or with an unlimited subscription, you can download everything you need. They also have a world class image and video library as well. Once again that link to grab your perfect theme music is https://shutterstock.7eer.net/c/1273442/42912/1305 If you'd like more Podcasting tips or want to work with me one-on-one check out my website at http://www.ChristineBlosdale.com and drop me an email at OutOfTheBoxWithChristine@gmail.com #podcast #podcasting #howtocreateapodcast
YES, SIZE MATTERS. This is one of the first questions I get asked from my clients. "How long should my podcast show be?" "Everyone else is an hour so should I do an hour too?" "How on Earth am I ever going to be able to handle doing an hour show each and every week?" The good news is you are not bound to any set length when creating a Podcast. In fact it's YOUR podcast show you can have it run at any length. But there are a few things to take into consideration - and on today's show we talk about your options. Enjoy! WHAT'S IN A NAME? EVERYTHING When making the decision on what to call your podcast show, please take your time. Choosing a name or show title is very important and should not be rushed. Once you have something that looks and feels right, do yourself a favor and do multiple searches on the internet and Apple Podcasts. You would be amazed at how many times people pick the exact same name as someone else. While you may think that the name you've chosen is original and is perfect for you, chances are someone else has claimed it already. If you do not do a proper and thorough search, trust me, you will regret it later. Imagine how you will feel after you've invested all this time and money setting up your podcast, just to discover that someone else has the exact same name. And what if it's really really bad and it's getting horrific reviews? Your show will be virtually tied to something that is not so positive, but you could also be infringing on someone else's trademarked name. It's just not worth it! So please do your research. So you've decided to take the plunge into the marvelous world of Podcasting. Congratulations! Podcasting is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million active podcasts with more than 30 million episodes in over 100 different languages. To say that podcasting is enjoying an explosive surge in popularity is indeed an understatement. If you are considering entering this amazing world, the best news for you is this... it is growing every single day. In other words, millions upon millions of people all around the globe are actively looking for new podcast shows - and one of those new shows could be yours! But before you turn one of your bedrooms into a home studio, invest thousands of dollars in equipment and jump headfirst on to the bandwagon, there are a few things you need to seriously consider. One of the biggest issues facing newbie casters is the amount of time that is required to successfully produce a series of episodes. Do you have enough time to dedicate to this brand new and exciting endeavor? If you do, then you need to ask yourself one more important question. THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ASK YOURSELF One of the most important questions I ask all of my students and clients is this... "Why do you want your own Podcast show?" This may seem like a silly question, but it is so vitally important to answer before beginning and it's the one question that is so often overlooked. Everybody has a different answer. Some will want a podcast show because they've got something very important they feel they need to share with the world. Some will want to promote a particular brand or business. Both are equally valid reasons. But there should always be a passion around your desire to create a podcast. Your audience will feel it when you speak and when it resonates with them it is pure GOLD! Podcasting can certainly enhance any business or industry if done right. If you're a real estate agent, a coach or consultant, a healer, speaker, teacher, doctor, etc. literally any profession or industry can have a special place in the podcasting world. But please do take a moment right now to dive into your own personal reasons for wanting to take on this lifestyle - because it definitely is a lifestyle - and it can take up a large amount of your time. Think of creating your podcast like getting a brand new puppy. You need to feed it, walk it, make sure it is healthy - and of course love it. And as with any new puppy you bring into your family, you need to spend a lot of quality time with them. It's the same when creating a new podcast show. Because the most successful podcasts are produced with a level of consistency and an attention to quality that trumps quantity every time. Yes, developing and creating a new podcast can give you an enormous amount of satisfaction and pride - and it can be wonderfully fun at times. But it can also be extremely time consuming and frustrating - especially when learning new technology. If you don't start with the basics, it can feel very overwhelming. So the reasons why you want to create your own show should outweigh any of the time commitments and possible learning curve-balls thrown at you. I hope you enjoy EPISODE 1 of THE MICRO PODCAST ON PODCASTING.
