Moritz Seider got his revenge on the scoreboard - not for a lack of rough stuff against the Boston Bruins. Tune in as we begin by recapping the Detroit Red Wings taking down Swayman and the Bruins in a Hockeytown rematch of last game, including: James van Riemsdyk turning back the clock, stellar performances from Moritz Seider, Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin, Emmitt Finnie, & others, Ben Chiarot continuing to be a force, John Gibson's struggles, Simon Edvinsson mixing it up as Nikita Zadorov and Mark Kastelic earned misconducts, & more as Todd McLellan's squad responded (4:50). After that and a conversation about John Gibson's continued performance issues, we take a look at the schedule ahead, Moritz Seider potentially earning Norris votes, Raymond's point streak, Patrick Kane's record, & more (19:00). Next, we break down what we've heard on the Quinn Hughes front as the Vancouver Canucks superstar continues to be the subject of trade rumors surrounding the Detroit Red Wings (and New Jersey Devils): has Steve Yzerman expressed interest? Would Danielson, Kasper, Sandin-Pellikka, Edvinsson, Bear, Brandsegg-Nygard, or others have to be included? Would he extend with the Red Wings? (31:25) Next, concern in Italy as the Olympic arena is behind (and small), & what the options are for the NHL, NHLPA, IIHF, & IOC (43:30), as well as updates on Dmitri Buchelnikov & Max Plante as we peek into the Hockeytown pipeline (51:05). A lively, irreverent romp through the history of the codpiece – that flamboyant flap of cloth that began as a modesty patch and ended up as the Renaissance's most outrageous brag. From its humble medieval origins to its glorious, padded, jewel-encrusted heyday under Henry VIII, the piece traces how the codpiece became both fashion and farce, weapon and wink. Stuffed with anecdotes, double entendres, and a dash of scandal, it explores how this unlikely garment strutted its way through art, politics, and amour before quietly retreating from the stage. A story of swagger, status, and sheer nerve – proof that in Tudor England, size really did matter.
Let's explore the psychology, energy, and symbolism of bed size — and how it might be quietly shaping your connection, your intimacy, and your sleep. As board gamers, we are obsessed with size. We love sharing shelfies to show off the size of our giant board game collection. Board games that come in a giant box that could double up as a garage for a small car are appealing to us. We love giant miniatures that we could use for weight training. War games that come with thousands of chits and other little tokens are standard. So, this article obsesses over how much table space some board games require and if we should start to record this as a new statistic alongside player count, age range, game length and complexity.Read the full topic discussion article here: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2025/09/30/size-matters-board-games-table-space-requirements-topic-discussion/Useful LinksWingspan review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2019/03/16/wingspan/Scythe review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2019/01/19/scythe/Love Letter review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2021/01/23/love-letter-saturday-review/Mint Tin Mini Skulduggery review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2019/03/09/mint-tin-mini-skulduggery/MusicIntro Music: Bomber (Sting) by Riot (https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/)Royalty Free Music: https://www.bensound.comLicense code: Z75OXZPTAKFN0XOAArtist: : Yunior ArronteMusic: https://www.bensound.comLicense code: MLKYBCTAF9OAUSTXArtist: : Nick PetrovSupportIf you want to support this podcast financially, please check out the links below:Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/TabletopGamesBlogPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/tabletopgamesblogWebsite: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/support/(Photo by Anne Nygård on Unsplash)

Some objects are built with purpose. Others are built with ego, ambition…and a total disregard for scale. In this gargantuan episode, Shane and Duncan dive deep into the most colossal creations humans have ever unleashed on land, sea, and sky. Prepare to meet the Seawise Giant, a ship so long it could cast shade on a city block. Marvel at Bagger 293, the German earth-eater that looks like it escaped from a kaiju movie. And brace yourself for the Dongfang wind turbine, whose blades are longer than a football field. These are mega-monuments to human excess—massive, magnificent, and maybe just a little bit ridiculous. ~ Support the show by becoming a Midnight Minion, Menace, or Maniac, and unlock exclusive bonus content over at PATREON ~ Chat with fellow insomniacs and vote on episode topics via DISCORD ~ Join the Midnight Masses! Every piercing starts out with a little risk. The risks of our every day piercings can be reduced through education and experience, but what about when we're trying something new or trendy? Lola and Ryan discuss the risks that may come with rare piercings, piercing trends, or just experimentation and creativity. Celebrity finger piercings, Austin bar piercings (I didn't know what that was either its ok), and kitten fangs. Where is the line between risk and harm, and how close do we get as professional piercers? We also discuss our recent trip to Poland for a conference, and our future teaching plans. Time is running out to watch Lola Slider's "Size Matters: jewellery sizing theory" webinar at www.patreon.com/ryanpba. Watch it before the end of September 2025 or you'll miss out. You can also check out Ryan's new video about Austin Bar piercings, and much more on demand.
Episode 38 of the Bourbon & Banter podcast - Size Matters - is here, and Bob and Pops are finally back after a 19-month break—just in time for Bourbon Heritage Month. We're talking all things 30 Days of Bourbon Challenge, dropping hot takes with our new Whiskey Hot Wash segment, and unleashing the Sniff Team for some undercover whiskey sleuthing. Of course, it wouldn't be Bourbon & Banter without a little ranting. This time, we're calling out the sorry state of today's single barrels and the money-grab mentality taking over the industry. Spoiler: quality still matters more than hype. So grab a pour, settle in, and listen at barrel strength. It's unapologetic, unfiltered, and just what you've been missing. Have comments or questions? Drop us a line at podcast@bourbonbanter.com. Cheers!

Pastor Taylor Shippy - 1 Samuel 17:1-58You've probably heard the story before—David vs. Goliath. But what if the story isn't really about David or Goliath at all? What if it's not just an underdog story, but a story about a God who's bigger than of our giants—and a reminder that we never face them alone.

If you tuned in hoping for crisp conclusions on fund performance, you may have left empty-handed.But if what you came for was a razor-sharp, high-stakes debate on the mechanics of venture economics—then this was your moment. Fourteen minutes of fierce dialogue at the EUVC Summit, and not a second wasted. Here's how it went:“If you're drawing any conclusions from those data sets... be my friend. But we won't do that.”Why? Because the data is still messy. Still underpowered. And when you're modeling venture returns—especially for emerging managers—it's more art than science. But oh, did we try. This fast-paced exchange brought clarity (and fire) to a few of venture's most misunderstood dynamics:Why the $20B outcome is the new benchmark for greatnessHow fund size maps to percentile outcomesThe hard math behind Seed-to-Series A attritionWhy early-stage investing remains low-probability but high-upsideAnd the eternal debate: do emerging managers truly outperform, or just dominate a distorted sample?"If you're really needing data to prove that model—it does not exist.”We'll get back to that.

It doesn't take much mass, just a fleck of paint, to punch a hole into a satellite or an intercontinental ballistic missile. This week's guest thinks the technology for an AI-controlled space-based kill vehicle, that is also small and lean enough to make room for the fuel needed for speed, is close at hand if the Department of Defense wishes to seize it. Laura Winter speaks with Arno Ledebuhr, a physicist, who worked on the Strategic Defense Initiative's space-based ballistic missile defense system Brilliant Pebbles, at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, under Lowell Wood and Edward Teller.
Humans are social creatures; we live in family groups, socialise with friends, and work with colleagues both in person and online. Yet, how many friends do you really have? Evolutionary psychologist Professor Robin Dunbar says it won't be more than 150. Proposed in the 1990s, ‘Dunbar's number' puts a limit on the number of stable relationships humans can maintain at any given time, and his ‘social brain hypothesis' suggests that brain size is directly related to social group size in mammals. In short, the bigger the group, the bigger the brain. In this interview with our sister publication, Research Outreach, we find out how Dunbar's education moved from philosophy to psychology and how his research moved from primates to people, as well as why size matters when it comes to social groups and evolution.Read more in Research Outreach
