Scott and Alex debated a few times wether to carry on, but it was always a forgone conclusion that we would. The aqua and orange runs deep. So here's the first episode of our new season, 8 years into it. Alex has taken a positive approach in honor of his son, who most of you know we lost last year. Scott is as jaded as ever with the Dolphins management, so it promises to be a season with come conflict. We will always celebrate wins. In this episode, the two talk about the draft. Alex, for the most part, loves what we did. Scott thinks Grier got some players, but once again missed out on stars, as well as numbers. Which picks? Which players? Listen in to hear from the guys who've seen it all. 

Scott and Alex strive to give you an honest evaluation of the Miami Dolphins every week in the regular season, with episodes in the offseason around Free Agency, changes in management, the draft, and training camp - pre season... This episode marks the end of their 7th season of the podcast. With a fair warning, both men are angry. They regularly strive to balance out negativity with positive aspects of the team, even after a loss, but always tell it like they see it. A lifetime of experience and a long familiarity with each other makes them a good listen, usually. Both feel that their favorite team is mis-managed at every level. Their hope was for the owner to realize that as fans, we want a championship, and that the management in place both at the GM position, as well as the head coaching position, lack the skills and experience to achieve that, Our hope was the Ross would realize it, and make changes so that even he may live to see a competitive, winning team. Our GM has made this the oldest team in the league, strapped by financially burdensome contracts to underperforming players, and critical weaknesses at key positions. Why Stephen Ross issued his statement is beyond our understanding, and has taken away the hope of fans who dig deeper, understand football, and truly care about winning. Mr Ross is a brilliant businessman, but every football decision he has ever made since taking ownership of our team has been bad. The sales of season tickets in October ensure that sellouts continue, he he can laugh all the way to the bank. Losing to the Jets adds insult to injury. The behavior of some players elevates our frustration (Hill). Alex and Scott discuss all this, and wether it is worth our time and expense to continue this podcast in 2025. 

In this Bonus episode, Mike Olivia of Dolphinstalk joins Alex and Scott to talk about his Dec 18 article Why Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel Will Not Be Fired. As we approach the final game of the Dolphins 2024 season, Alex and Scott are looking for hope from Stephen Ross, and if you've listened to our previous couple of podcasts, you'll know we want pretty much the opposite of what Mike's article states. To be fair, Mike wants the same, but makes his case for why he believes it. This is a high energy debate that covers a lot. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but the three men just roll past that mark and don't slow down. If you haven't listened to many episodes this year, this bonus episode is the ONE. 

Tua's absense in the Browns game came as a suprise to us, and Huntley, even with a slow start, upped his game for the win. Scott and Alex talk about the game, but are more focused on the future. The primary topics are more on Grier, the Pro Bowl / all pro selections and the whiffs that would have made us a Superbowl contender, instead of a perpetual mediocre team. The Jets are a train wreck and we predict what will happen in this game, regardless of wether it's Tua or Huntley behind center. Will the Dolphins make the playoffs this year??? One cool thing makes some fun recommendations in SoCal, and on an upcoming new podcast.

The Dolphins gave us all a win on Sunday against the 49ers, despite the tough pick from these two. Sometimes it's great to be wrong. One of our brights spots of the year sealed the deal with his best run of the year, and we celebrate it. What else did we pull out of the game in Miami? Let's spend some time talking about Tyreek Hill. How will the Phins fare in freezing cold Cleveland? Scott has a strong recommendation to close things out in One Cool Thing.

Alex and Scott connect virtually to record an episode late in the week. Because some time has passed since the Texans loss, they don't spend a lot of time talking about the game, but don't leave out the obvious flaws that caused it, and take a few moments to appreciate the players who excelled. They discuss the upcoming 49ers game, and make their predictions on it. Most importantly, they discuss what they would say to our owner, Mr. Ross, if given the opportunity. What would the Two Old Dolphins encourage him to change in order to give us all hope on winning a championship? They ran out of time for our "one cool thing" segment, but promise after the Holiday we will resume it.

Alex and Scott connect virtually to record this episode on a Wednesday. The OT win over the Jets was a stresser and the Dolphins D could do little against a QB that hasn't had a 300 yard day in years, so they are concerned. Jonnu Smith is our hero again and Tua earned this one. Jet's game talk is well mixed in with the challenge the Dolphins have next: The Texans. These two think it's going to be a hard road to travel to earn a win in Houston, and explain why. One cool thing has an announcement from Alex and some meandering recommendation on another wine region on the opposite side of the country from Scott. 

Alex and Scott head into the studio the day after Thanksgiving to talk football. We hear it, we read it, we've talked about it. The Dolphins can't beat winning teams. The Dolphins can't win in big games. The Dolphins rarely win on national TV. The Dolphins can't win in the cold. With the recent exception of beating the Rams on the road on Monday night, they are all true. They will remain true until McDaniel and Tua and this team can prove otherwise. In the last podcast, we talked about the Green Bay game being the perfect opportunity to dispel it all. Not only did this team fail, but they were never really in the game.  Tragic. The Jets are up next, and the Jets are a broken awful team. Listen in for the analysis, the Jets prediction, and one cool thing. Maybe a swear word or two in this one.

Scott and Alex get into the studio on a Victory Monday and celebrate the butt kicking Miami gave to the Patriots. Clearly, the Dolphins are back on track, at least beating up on the bad teams. Lot's of player performances to highlight and positive commentary on coaching too! Now comes the real test. Can McDaniel scheme and play call a win, at night in the cold on national TV against a good team? This is the hurdle he needs to overcome to move past his national narrative. Restaurants are in our one cool thing this week.

First, let us apologize for the Audio quality in this episode. Scott it traveling and forgot to bring some of his equipment. Secondly, as if we had some responsibility for it, let us apologize for the dismal performance of the team we love. They are hard to love. Alex and Scott go as far as to refer to memes in this episode. Alex's kicks off with his one cool thing and Scott finishes with his, so there are positive bookends to this one, at least for some people, It's no surprise that the GM and Coach remain on the "firing line" for us, but we work hard to find new ways to approach it. 10 points is not good enough to beat anyone. 

Are Scott and Alex happy that the Dolphins beat the Patriots? Of course they are, they're Dolphins fans. Do either of them think it means anything? Alex does, with caveats. Scott, well... listen in to find out. More analysis in this episode than in the last few. Scott shares most of his notes as they are written, from the first half of the game. Both fly off into tangential conversations, but all fit the themes, messages, and topics of the podcast. There are some positive nuggets sprinkled on top. Hang on to the end for "One cool thing" from each host.

Alex and Scott head back into the studio "the day after" the last Dolphins Debacle against the lowly Titans. They discuss elements of the game, the performance of the units and players, the coaching, and the construction of the team which might be the most disappointing in Dolphins history. The sarcasm flows, and might produce some laughter. At the least, it should be thought provoking. Do the Dolphins have any chance to go into New England and beat the Patriots? Coaching, and even more so, the GM of the team receives the brunt of their focus. What will happen in Seattle this weekend? The Dolphins are broken, and patience is expiring. In our second "lost" episode, Alex, Scott and Alejandro discuss the 2024 draft. Jando does some of his best analysis around the draft and it really shows here. Alex gets a little salty over Chop Robinson and our disagreements are all in fun. You'll hear Jando's sarcasm come out in response to his dad. It's such a joy to hear his voice one more time, and remember everything about the person behind it. I hope you listen and get some of that from it too.

It's early March and the Dolphins are still the second worst over the cap team. There's a lot of tap dancing to be done with money, players, and contracts in the next few days. We aren't ready to share what we want in terms of players at picks yet, but we have an overall philosophy which rarely aligns with the Dolphins GM. Are the Dolphins in trouble? Our Dolphins fell short in the AFC East "championship game" with the Bills on the final game of the regular season, at home, in front of a half-hostile crowd. This podcast goes deep into what happened and suggests who owns the blame for the loss, if you want to cast aspersions. It might not be who you think it is. It's a long episode, but full of thought and passion. Injuries? Of course, but... Scott and Alex ague about a few things, including opinions about our HC. Now that the Dolphins have crapped away a 3 game lead in the east, they have to go to Kansas City for a wild card game. Do they have a chance?  Scott has a fun pick for this week's MVP. Both have a very strongly worded message for the NFL. This is a clean episode up until the last minute. If you are sensitive to foul language, the fist hour is good, and the last minute is laced with an explicative, matching McDaniel's frequent verbiage, you might say, but not at him.

The Miami Dolphins defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve in a nailbiter on the foot of Jason Sanders. Then, the Dolphins travelled to Baltimore on New Years Eve. To say it wasn't pretty would be an understatement. Before Dolfan Nation throws the baby out with the bathwater, consider all the national narratives... swallow them like new years eve hors d'oeuvres and crap them out the next day along with a bit of a hangover. The Dolphins are a good team. They aren't far from being a great team. Listen in to this podcast for the silver/teal lining. It's 2024, and Alex has a message for you all. Alex and Scott are joined by Andy Korge for this episode. In preparation for a future push to bring on more remote guests, we used a new tool for this recording, so please bear with us for some minor audio issues.The Titans loss was a surprise to everyone. Alex made a list of mistakes made in the game, any one of which would have changed the final score. Some are on players, some are on coaches, (and we didn't address officiating) but all need to be fixed to make this team a contender. There are some players on the roster who could have an impact, but are currently unused. Why? Injuries have hurt the Dolphins, and Grier has work to do to find more contributors and depth. The Jets are coming to town, and suddenly this doesn't look like the lock it should be. What do these three predict?

A few minutes have passed since the game in Washington DC, but there are some fun things to look back on. AVG, Hill, Tua, Achane... Where are the less obvious points of the Phins dominant performance? It's December, and our Dolphins are the #1 seed, will they hold? What are they going to do to the Titans this week? Alex and Scott hit the studio on a Saturday to capture fresh thoughts on the Jets game. Just like the week before, there was a lot to like in the game, and some concerns too. First and foremost, this is a stomping of the hated Jets, so they celebrate that. The loss of Phillips is a sobering elephant in the room. Why does Scott mention Ted Lasso? Who shows class and who doesn't? What about the trade deadline that just passed? What did the young buck see with his younger eyes in that Pats game? Why is Scott pissed at Twitter / X ? What is the key to the game against the Chiefs (unfortunately no surprises here). Grit your teeth in anticipation for seeing a non-footballer every five minutes. Alex and Scott are in the studio on an angry Monday to talk about the Eagles game. Final score Dolphins 28, Eagles 24 - at least that SHOULD have been the score, if not for the refs, who acted like the mafia paid them off. Listen to our take on this. Instead the Dolphins head home with more injuries, a loss, and a game that fits the narrative of all the national sports media who hate Tua and our team. Some good things worthy of mentioning. Some other reasons, aside from the refs, that the Dolphins lost. There's a lot to talk about here. Alex and Scott felt the blow Buffalo dealt like any of you, all the way in SoCal. They recorded this episode with a message: It's not over. This is not the end. Amidst the drubbing, concerns about the play of the offensive line, and defense that had no answers to anything, there are still bright spots. Most of the numbers (except for the scoreboard) tell a different story? A certain linebacker that these two nicknamed after a band, well, how did he do in the loss? Where did the line really fail (you probably all know this) and just how bad was it? Why were there no answers from the mastermind DC? Listen in, there's good with the bad, and there's reasonable hope. Especially for the coming games. 

The Dolphins, for the first time in franchise history, put up a 70 burger on the Donkeys. Alex and Scott don't usually mock opponents, but the Donks clearly quit and deserve a little derision. Payton too. Amidst all the scoring, and some delicious turnovers, there's a lot to talk about.  Fans can feel on top of the world, because right now, the Dolphins are. The two old gurus celebrate with you for most of this episode, but aren't blind to a couple of glaring mistakes that could haunt this team when we face a real opponent, like next week in Buffalo. Scott and Alex made the trip to SoFi for the Dolphins Chargers shootout. The crowd made it sound like a home game. The offense was unleashed. The Two Old Dolfans start a new season with a short episode as a prelude to the draft. In the past, they have discussed "gems" and "their guy" for future draft consideration, but not dug into the draft as deeply as some of the offline conversations are and have been over the years. A few years ago, they flirted with "live draft coverage" in their one and only way too long youtube episode. This year, it's Alex, Scott, and young Jando throwing out their "guys" that they want, within range or reasonable trade up/down with the limited picks Miami has. They wanted to capture, in perpetuity, the names of the players they have highlighted as studs and contributors for THIS MIAMI TEAM here and now. They've been better than Grier and company in the draft (at least for the first few rounds) nearly every year, prior to and at the "pick" time, so don't discount them. Check out the young men they are looking at and cross your fingers.

A rainy Monday morning. Two dudes with some years on them. A rare Miami Dolphins playoff game to discuss. Proud that our team fought so hard. Disappointed that so many mistakes were made. A game that could have been won. Miami showed that despite all the challenges, they belonged in the NFL playoffs, despite FOX's housewife snub. It's early Monday Morning in a brand new 2023 and all Dolfans are dealing with the latest disappointment, now out of control of their own playoff destiny. Alex and Scott "have" to talk about this game, and what we "know" about these 2022 Miami Dolphins. Tune in for some tidbits on the game, the general state of the team, the quarterback situation, the coaching situation, the general management / front office, and more. What historical precedent is there? A unique look at other teams coaching and penalties and where the Dolphins fit in this season. Do the Dolphins have a good chance to beat the Jets at home this Sunday? Will they?

Two Old Dolfans did a quick turnaround (quick for them at any rate) to address the Tua QB/Injury/Health/effect issue that had not been announced when they recorded the "slide" episode Monday morning. In essence, what does this injury mean? How does it effect Tua the man? How does it affect the team? What should the front office be doing? What does it mean for this year? What does it mean for the future? Will we see Tua again this year? Will we EVER see him play in a Dolphins Uni again? Should we? Join them for 30 minutes on this - a "bonus" episode this week, because it IS that important.

Can we have a laugh to alleviate the Christmas turd our Dolphins left on the field? Does our quarterback care about losing (see post game press conference)? Alex and I got together with a non-alcohol related Christmas hangover and reviewed the Jekyll and Hyde Packers game. Tua. We have to talk about him, there's a firestorm around him now. McDaniel. His rookie coach questionable choices and clear weaknesses and areas to improve. As old Dolphins fans, we have a long legacy of poor performances in the month of December and we talk about this and take a few moments to talk about some Social Media comments. Crappy time to dedicate an episode to Wilkins, but a promise is a promise and he should have been in the Pro Bowl.

The Two Old Dolfans both had unusual "views" of the game Saturday, and despite the oddity, have no shortage of observations and educated opinions.Regardless of the "No Asterisks" McD press conference comment, a lot of positive can be taken from this particular L (as opposed to the previous). Both Scott and Alex feel strongly about what we will see this Sunday, and about the longer term direction of the team. Listen in to their conversation and agree or disagree.

There was nothing funny about the Dolphins showing in Los Angeles, but we can put a funny title on it. Let's talk about the troubling signs. San Francisco gave the Dolphins a lesson, and the Miami coaching staff appeared to have learned nothing from it. So, now the Two Old Dolfans have to dig into the details, with angry face on. The answers are somewhat obvious. Coaching, scheme and playcalling - those things we were excited about so frequently this season with our rookie coach and his staff - well, we have a lot to say about it.  The Dolphins are heading to Buffalo trailing the Bills now - do they have a chance in the cold and snow, other than "any given Saturday?".

This week's episode brings more insight, commentary, and a couple of laughs to deal with the loss. Our eyes are looking ahead to Buffalo, but can't overlook the Chargers. It's a must win to have a shot at taking the division. How will the Dolphins do?

The Texans, one of the NFL's worst, showed us all what we can look like as a championship caliber team.  For a half. But despite domination on both sides of the ball, there are still improvements to be made, and concerns. The second half really showed us the lack of depth Miami's line suffers from. Alex and Scott talk about all this, AND, the exciting matchup in San Francisco coming this weekend.

The Miami Dolphins finally had a game where the fans could relax and enjoy for more than half of it (especially the old ones who don't want stress).
