Happy Holiday from Scott and Alex of the Two Old Dolfans Podcast. We hope this time brings you peace and joy. The Dolphins gave us all a win on Sunday against the 49ers, despite the tough pick from these two. Sometimes it's great to be wrong. One of our brights spots of the year sealed the deal with his best run of the year, and we celebrate it. What else did we pull out of the game in Miami? Let's spend some time talking about Tyreek Hill. How will the Phins fare in freezing cold Cleveland? Scott has a strong recommendation to close things out in One Cool Thing.
Josh Ritter is a successful and celebrated songwriter, and I feel convinced after my conversation with him that his songwriting is so good, in part, because he does not particularly care about being successful or celebrated. As he once wrote in “Snow is gone”, “I'm singing for the love of it / Have mercy on the man who sings to be adored”. I loved talking to him. REGARDING THE VIDEO VERSION OF THE SHOW: You'll notice that I've released this episode in both audio and video format. I assumed that it would not publish on podcatchers that don't support video, but it has. If you're using overcast (or a similar podcatcher) and would like the video version, just look for the show on YouTube, it's easiest to find the video there. If you're sticking with audio, switch over to the audio version of this episode, it has slightly more content. :) M7 Intro (0:00) This episode is sponsored by sponsors: (0:35) Opening Interview with Josh: (2:40) Song #1: (22:30) Song #2: (38:20) One Cool Thing: (1:01:40) Farewell and Links: (1:05:06) Links! Alex and Scott head back into the studio "the day after" the last Dolphins Debacle against the lowly Titans. They discuss elements of the game, the performance of the units and players, the coaching, and the construction of the team which might be the most disappointing in Dolphins history. The sarcasm flows, and might produce some laughter. At the least, it should be thought provoking. Do the Dolphins have any chance to go into New England and beat the Patriots? One thing that will remain positive all season... hang on for the One Cool Thing segment at the end of the podcast.
Lizzie No brings her whole bold, beautiful self to this episode, speaking openly about her process as an artist, life, love, liberation and more. M7 and Lizzie tear up on a few occasions. Fans of the banjo! Fans of punk and folk and poetry! Fans of awesome, brilliant women! (I should have all of you at this point). Happy New Year! We're finally back and we've added a new feature. If you're a regular listener, you may recall that each week we have a feature called “One Cool Thing” where we highlight our week. Todd still will be sharing his weekly adventures in digital marketing, but we've tweaked mine a bit because I honestly rarely leave my house.Starting this week we've added a history component to the show wherein I pick an old newspaper story about Delmarva and Todd and I get to experience the Eastern Shore as it was. The good ol' days, if you will. We kick off with an account of the Delmarva Chicken Festival from 1971. The year is critical because, to my absolute shock, women still didn't have first names in the 1970s according to the Baltimore Sun.The winners of the chicken cooking contest that year were:Mrs. Thomas H. Young, Mrs. Ronald Powell, Mrs. Thomas W. Piantek and Mrs. John Petrelli.I guess if they wanted names they wouldn't have gotten married. For instance, Miss Beverly Green of Princess Anne (who was named Delmarva Poultry Princess) and Miss Kimberly Ann Phillips (who was named Little Miss Delmarva Poultry Princess), had their first names consigned to history because they didn't yet have the burden of a husband.By the way, if you know Kimberly Ann Phillips, tell her we said, “Hello.” If you are Kimberly Ann Phillips, “Hello!”Other early 70s novelties include Frank Perdue discussing his plans to sell chickens under his own name and “cookbook author” James A. Beard commenting on his experience as a judge. If you remember anything about this festival (which ended in 2014 probably as a result of women having first names) please share them below. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit daydrinkingondelmarva.substack.com

In this weeks episode of Live From the Vault we discuss the importance of embracing change. If there's one thing 2020 has taught us, it's that we must expect the unexpected. However, the fear of change can paralyze us, and create even larger issues than the unforeseen circumstances that are affecting our business. Contemplating this dilemma, host Chad Coleman encountered the work of Harvard Professor, Author and Change Expert, Rosabeth Moss Kanter. Specifically her essay Ten Reasons People Resist Change, DeAndre and Chad discuss this work with their patented keep-it-real candor. Chad also shares his methodology for deciding what changes are right to implement within your company. One Cool Thing:Have you ever been frustrated trying to find something specific on a particular website? On-site search tools are often poorly made and don't help you find what you're looking for, so in this week's One Cool Thing, Chad shares how you can use the power of Google to find anything on a particular website.
