Throughout this sermon series on Abide, we talked extensively about why we need to abide and how we can abide in Jesus. Yet, one thing we haven't covered yet is the goal and purpose of our abiding. To answer that question, we will go back to where this series started and unpack Jesus' words in John 15 where He identifies Himself as the vine and us as the branches.
A sermon for Easter 6, May 25, 2025. John 14:23-29 Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. "I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, `I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe."

When was the last time you considered the depth of God's love and patience? In the book of John, Jesus speaks to His disciples and describes how God expresses an abiding love that draws us in and also keeps us in Him. It also enables us to love others as we settle into his love. In this message, Don Flynn shares how his relationship with his dog teaches him the depth of Christ's abiding love for us.

YOUR BIRTH, GOD’S WAY - Christian Pregnancy, Natural Birth, Postpartum, Breastfeeding Help
SHOW NOTES The placenta is an amazing organ that God creates in us at the beginning of a new pregnancy and gets rid of immediately after the baby is born. It is the lifeline for the baby and performs a plethora of functions to support the baby's life while in utero. Today we're going to talk about how the placenta forms, what the placenta does, and how to best manage the delivery of the placenta after birth. The medical model thinks that everything about birth needs to be managed because they consider it an inherently dangerous process, but God shows us very differently. In this episode we'll dig in to the beauty of the placenta. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef shows that we can be confident that God has provided for all our needs—just as He did for Paul.If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 8: LISTEN NOW
Spiritual stability is the burden of most, if not all, the writers of the New Testament; they plead with us to stand firm, hold fast, and contend for the faith. In 1 Thessalonians 3:8, Paul explains, “For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.” When God's people have the joy of the Lord, they stand firm in faith—they live abundantly, tasting even today the promises of heaven. Likewise, if we want to live in spiritual stability, we must take care to maintain our joy. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef draws out four ways to maintain joy from Paul's letter to the Philippian church. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 7: LISTEN NOW
The moment you are born again by the Spirit of God, you are a new creation in Christ with an inescapable desire for spiritual growth. It's a desire God calls every Christian to pursue because there is no end to knowing and becoming like Christ. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef digs into Philippians to show how we grow spiritually. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 5: LISTEN NOW
Have you ever played the comparison game? The rules are simple: Look at what other people have or do, and then desire those things or accomplishments for yourself. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef reveals that the source of contentment is understanding who we are in Christ. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 8: LISTEN NOW
In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef challenges us to examine our priorities to discover the source of impatience. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 4: LISTEN NOW
Our society is riddled with discontentment. Why? Because our culture tells us we are the center of our lives—that everything should be ordered around whatever whims and delights emerge from our hearts. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef calls us to contentment in Christ, our joy. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 4: LISTEN NOW
“For the joy set before him, he endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2). What joy compelled the Son of God to suffer crucifixion? What joy compelled the divine King of the universe to leave His heavenly throne, enter our brokenness as a poor man with nowhere to lay His head, and, though sinless, suffer mockery, scorn, beating, humiliation, and death? In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef shows that humility brings joy. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 3: LISTEN NOW
The enemies of Christ would like us to believe that obedience is too great a burden. But nothing could be further from the Truth. Rather, it is sin that burdens. Sin eclipses joy and divides our hearts, homes, and churches. But when we acknowledge, confess, and reject sin, when we repent and submit to the easy yoke of Jesus (see Matthew 11:28-30), our joy is restored. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef reveals that it is sin that enslaves. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef's sermon It's Contagious . . . Pass It On!, Part 3: LISTEN NOW

John 15:1–17 | Jesus repeatedly tells His disciples to abide in Him. Today, Jesus continually invites us to abide in Him. But how do we practically abide? What does an abiding walk with Christ look like? What does an abiding walk with Christ produce? These are questions we dive into this week as we seek to grow at loving God and loving others. The key element to this love is that we would abide in Christ.

This is a devotional taken from "Daily Devotions from the Psalms" written by Rev. John A. Heys, and published by the Reformed Book Outlet in Hudsonville, Michigan. Rev. Heys studied in the Protestant Reformed Seminary under the instruction of Herman Hoeksema and George M. Ophoff. He was ordained to the ministry of the Word, and installed as pastor, in Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Walker, Michigan in 1941. He served consecutively, and under the blessing of God effectively, three other Protestant Reformed churches, till his emeritation in 1980. In his 'retirement' he continued to be of service to the churches, and evidence of which is this set of daily devotions, one for each day of the year, published originally some 25 years ago by the Men's Society of Hudsonville (MI) Protestant Reformed Church, and reprinted here for the spiritual benefit of readers old and new. Scripture passages quoted by Rev. Heys are from the King James Version of the Bible, and the versification of the Psalms to which he refers are from the 1912 edition of the Psalter. May these brief meditations of Rev. Heys serve for the edification of the reader, as they also deepen his appreciation for the psalms-those "immortal songs of the Holy Spirit, those matchless hymns of the Bible which...with their measured language of religious feeling and devotion will abide until the end" (preface to the 1912 Psalter). Decisions are about change. To make effective decisions, you need to understand how change works. Change can happen at different levels, from small improvements to big paradigm shifts. Change happens at different speeds, too - some changes are immediate while others take longer to manifest. There are different types of changes, too. Some changes are pre-determined by what will bring joy, pleasure, or happiness. Other changes are more mindful decisions. And some changes are pivotal decisions that should be made with a well-oiled system in place to avoid bias. Michael Moon and Steven Gans are working on a project called "Decisions Zen”, which is a book about how to make better decisions faster, easier, and with less stress. Michael Moon is an author, speaker, and advisor who helps entrepreneurs and executives create disruptive innovation and transformational change. He is the author of Firebrands: Building Brand Loyalty in the Internet Age and Gratitude Protocols: Practical Habits of Solitude, Gratitude, and Abiding Love. Moon is a thought leader in the areas of transmedia branding, customer engagement, and personal growth. He has worked with some of the world's largest brands, including Adobe, Apple, Boeing, Disney, Gap, Nokia, and Warner Bros. Moon's work reflects his belief that we all have the potential to create positive change in our lives and in the world. Dr Steven Gans is the founder and former chairman of the London Institute for Management Studies. He was previously a Professor and Supervisor at Antioch University in California. He is the author of Just Listening: Ethics and Therapy by Steven Gans and Leon Redler. He is an expert in the field of Active / Reflective listening. He is also a facilitator and mentor and has worked with many different people in many different capacities. He is known for his dedication, enthusiasm, and ability to always see the positive in any situation. He is a great listener and motivator and is someone who genuinely cares about helping others. He is an absolute treasure and anyone would be lucky to have him in their life.

This passage is so beautiful...I'm learning to comprehend the deep love of God. Jesus is inviting us into himself and if we abide in his person we will produce good fruit and find satisfaction for our souls.John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
