Fresh off a portfolio review at a local college, I'm breaking down the biggest and most common mistakes photographers make when trying to showcase their work—and why these mistakes might be standing between you and your next client. In this episode, I cover: • Mistake #1: Overloading your portfolio with too many images • Mistake #2: Showcasing work you don't actually want to shoot • Mistake #3: Not showing enough of the work you do want to be hired for And then we get into the biggest mistake of all: relying solely on your portfolio as your entire marketing strategy. Because in today's world, having a great portfolio is essential—but it's not enough on its own. We'll talk about what you should be doing beyond the portfolio to get in front of the right clients, build authority, and consistently generate work. Connect with me:

Bad Bunny, the global music superstar known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has just set the music world abuzz with a wave of fresh news and high-profile achievements. In the biggest headlines of the week, Bad Bunny announced his highly anticipated sixth studio album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” which translates to “I Should Have Taken More Photos.” NME and The Lagos Review reveal it's scheduled for release on January 5, 2025, and signals a shift to a more introspective, deeply personal direction for the Puerto Rican icon. The announcement came via a cinematic video teaser featuring revered Puerto Rican filmmaker Jacobo Morales. In the teaser, Morales shares a poignant exchange with an animated character named Concho about cherishing life's fleeting moments and capturing those memories—a theme that's expected to resonate throughout the upcoming album.Listeners already have a taste of what's to come: Bad Bunny dropped a surprise holiday single, “Pitorro de Coco,” inspired by a beloved Puerto Rican rum drink. This track channels the raw emotion of heartbreak during the holiday season and is being hailed as another example of his gift for storytelling and emotional depth. Critics and fans alike note how Bad Bunny continues to reinvent himself creatively, moving from the bold sounds of his last record, “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana,” to an even more vulnerable and reflective musical style.Beyond his musical projects, Bad Bunny has been shining bright on the live circuit. His “Most Wanted Tour” recently ranked seventh among the world's highest-grossing tours in 2024, pulling in over $210 million and confirming his status as one of the most in-demand performers on the planet. Social media is still buzzing with clips and reactions from his latest concerts, with listeners praising the spectacular production and heartfelt performances. In pop culture news, Bad Bunny made a surprising cameo in the trailer for Adam Sandler's “Happy Gilmore 2,” demonstrating his growing influence and crossover appeal in the entertainment world. This appearance sparked a flurry of memes and social posts, adding to a week in which Bad Bunny's public profile climbed yet another level.Perhaps the crowning moment of the week came at the 2026 Latin Grammy Awards. As reported by WPLG Local 10, Bad Bunny absolutely dominated the ceremony, taking home the coveted Album of the Year award as well as both Urban Music Album and Song Awards. He also delivered a crowd-thrilling performance, cementing his artistic legacy and solidifying his place as one of the most influential Latin artists of his generation. The ceremony marked a night of celebration and major milestones, not just for Bad Bunny, but for the broader Latin music community, with Karol G and Alejandro Sanz also among the night's big winners.Listeners are flocking to social media platforms to celebrate Bad Bunny's victories and eagerly speculate about his next creative moves. The online energy is palpable, with fans dissecting his latest releases, teasing potential collaborations, and creating viral moments around his every announcement. While details about the full album track list and possible tour updates remain tightly under wraps, anticipation is building to a fever pitch as January draws nearer.Thank you for tuning in to this update on all things Bad Bunny. 188. Showcasing Your Success In this episode of the Visibility Factor podcast discusses the importance of visibility and effective communication in leadership. She emphasizes that individuals do not need to change who they are but rather how they communicate their achievements. The conversation explores strategies for authentic communication, the significance of storytelling, and the need to connect personal achievements to organizational values. Barber encourages listeners to embrace discomfort in self-promotion and highlights the role of authenticity in building trust and influence within teams.   takeaways You don't have to change who you are, just your words. Communication needs to be intentional and mindful. Many people sell themselves short and don't recognize their value. Sharing your journey builds trust and visibility. Authentic communication is about being real, not perfect. Focus on impact, not just outcomes when sharing achievements. Stories make accomplishments relatable and memorable. Connect achievements to company values for deeper resonance. Leaders who communicate authentically create learning environments. Your voice matters, and your work is important.   Pre-Order Link for Your Journey to Visibility Workbook   Thank you for listening to The Visibility Factor Podcast!    Check out my website to order my book and view the  videos/resources for The Visibility Factor book.   As always, I encourage you to reach out! “My name has become a horror to all those who want slavery,” declared Jean‑Jacques Dessalines as he announced the independence of Haiti, the most radical nation‑state during the Age of Revolution and the first country ever to permanently outlaw slavery. Enslaved for the first thirty years of his life, Dessalines (c. 1758–1806) joined the revolution that abolished slavery within the French colony. Then he became a general in the colonial army of the new French Republic. When it was discovered that France once again supported slavery, Dessalines declared war on his former allies. Fighting under the slogan “Liberty or Death,” his army forced the French to evacuate in late 1803. At the start of the new year, Dessalines declared independence from France and became the leader of a free Haiti.A hero to Haitians for centuries, Dessalines is portrayed abroad as barbarous and violent. Yet this caricature derives not from facts—as Dr. Julia Gaffield demonstrates with extensive new research—but from the fears of contemporary enslavers. Showcasing the man behind the myths, Dr. Gaffield reveals Dessalines's deep suffering, warm friendships, and unwavering commitment to destroying slavery, racism, and colonialism, and his bold insistence on his people's right to liberty and equality. Our guest is: Dr. Julia Gaffield, who is associate professor of history at William & Mary. She is the author of Haitian Connections in the Atlantic World: Recognition after Revolution; and of I Have Avenged America: Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Haiti's Fight for Freedom (Yale UP, 2025). She lives in Williamsburg, VA.
