For the next instalment of the Local Selection, we're pleased to welcome Sligo-born, Manchester-based DJ, producer and promoter Nestor to the series. The 297th edition shows an insight into Jack's taste that has formed over the years. Featuring a strong selection of electro, UK techno and acid house. This week's Local Selection comes courtesy of Nestor. Initially rooted in Sligo before making the move to Manchester in 2022 to pursue music, he has had some glaring success in that time as an artist and promoter of Lace. From spinning in a wealth of Manchester's venues such as The White Hotel, Hidden, Stage & Radio, DBA and The Progress Centre, as well as picking up gigs in Leeds and Liverpool. Nestor has also had the opportunity to throw parties in the city alongside his partner Adam Hunter, and in doing so has welcomed a wealth of formidable artists to their party. Some of which include Bas Mooy, Peder Mannerfelt, Anabel Arroyo, Kerrie, Sunil Sharpe and many more artists over the last number of years. In doing so, they have acted as a beacon to platform Irish talent. Showcasing genuine effort to platform talented Irish artists and fostering collaboration among two of Ireland's most reputable parties, Encrypted and Hidden Love, further strengthening the links between Irish and UK-based parties. As a DJ and producer, Nestor demonstrates his versatility often, playing a broad spectrum of genres across his sets, ranging from high-energy, gritty techno to feel-good house, alongside some of the biggest names in the underground scene. In 2024, Nestor released his debut EP titled ‘Movement', which featured on RTE Pulse, SWU.FM and Crop Radio. In addition, Nestor also performs under his Paragon alias alongside long-time collaborator Louie. More recently, Nestor progressed significantly with the release of his debut album ‘The Ramblings of a Sligo Man which explores field recordings, electro-acoustic composition and experimental sound design, followed by his second album Digital Methods', as well as multiple releases on various labels and an appearance on the iconic Rinse FM. This recording is a fine display of the range in taste that Nestor possesses. The mix allows the listener to experience Nestor's progression over the course of the hour. Building the energy and intensity as he slides through a variety of genres and moods that touch on the journey-like aspect of mixes that many DJs try to execute, but so few do – a real reward for your ears. Trade shows are one of the biggest line items in a building products marketing budget, but too many manufacturers treat their booths like product showrooms instead of experiences. On this episode of Smarter Building Materials Marketing, Beth talks with Shaun Jennings, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at FastenMaster, about what it actually takes to make a trade show booth work. They cover how to choose the right shows, why product demonstrations outperform displays, how to staff a booth for real conversations, and why the best trade show marketing happens after everyone goes home.

The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Year of Women Farmers. All the more reason, then, to pay tribute to them on International Women's Day on 8 March. In the collective imagination, farming in the European Union is still too often considered the preserve of men. These prejudices are obstacles for women who want to start a farm or innovate in agriculture, but beyond that, they can discourage many women from even getting started in farming in the first place. So – how can we change attitudes and ensure that women have the same opportunities as men in European agriculture? In the 67th episode of the Food for Europe podcast, we take you to Germany and Lithuania to meet two female farmers with very different profiles: Mara Walz, a winegrower who is taking over the family vineyard, and Ina Grecka, a civil engineer from the city who converted to farming. Professors Sally Shortall from Newcastle University and Maura Farrell from the University of Galway discuss the structural causes of gender inequality in rural areas, suggest ways to redress the balance and talk about the unique nature of female innovation in agriculture. Finally, Elena Schubert, Equality Coordinator for DG AGRI, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, takes stock of the situation of women in European agriculture today. She discusses the policy framework put in place by the EU to promote gender equality in the sector and talks about the ‘Women in Farming platform' recently launched by DG AGRI, a forum for sharing experiences and networking to promote women in agriculture and inspire younger generations.
Laughter is so important. Laughter is medicine. Laughter is the shortest distance between two people, one of the best gifts we've ever been given. I've been doing stand-up for 15 years. So, I've seen all different kinds of laughers. There's the inside laugher, they don't make any noise, they're always just like. Insecure touchy laughers, they always need reassurance. They always, "Did you see that?" Like, "Yeah, I heard that. We're at the same show." Oh, the snorter, my favorite, you know. It's like such a compliment when you get a snort except you feel bad for their spouse. You're like dang, you're like every morning, "Honey," I'm like, "Oh my God." I was born and raised in Burbank, California, right here over the mountain and I'm the last of five kids. Two older brothers, two older sisters. They're all two years apart and I'm the fifth. I'm 10 years apart. So, I'm an accident, pretty obvious. You know, so when I was a kid, I asked my dad, you know, "Papa, am I an accident?"小时候我会问爸爸,“我是个意外吗?”And he said, "There are no accidents in God's Kingdom, only regret." My dad disciplined us. You guys know, you know, some of you guys, "It hurts me more than it hurts you." My dad was the pastor of a huge church. So, being a preacher's kid, you're not allowed to listen to the radio, watch, you know, certain kinds of TV. So, the first time my friend let me listen to Eddie Murphy Delirious on tape, and he's cursing and he's just making everybody laugh, I was like, "Wait, what is this?" You have to stick to the guidelines. But comedians always said what people are thinking but were afraid to say. A lot of times I was the only Asian amongst a lot of white kids. I was really skinny. They called me Chopsticks, Indiana Bones, Chicken Legs. You know, like I was the skinniest kid, like, you could just tie a string around me and I would just fly away like a kite. I was so skinny, I was bullied. Always made to feel inferior, even though they weren't even doing it on purpose. That's how I started doing comedy because I could take away the power of that, them making fun of me, by being funny. I have kids. My last name is Kim. I really wanted my son to be a leader, so I was going to name him Martin Luther Kim. My second choice was Abraham Linkim, but we don't want to put pressure, so we named him Lion. He's the Lion Kim. Lion Kim。I have the best parents and the best older brothers and sisters ever. I've had so many conversations with friends who've had just so many bad family situations, like most. My dad was worried but I'm always going to be thankful because he came to one comedy show and then he died suddenly after. So, I'm always gonna have that memory of him. He came. And you know, when you do talk about your ethnicity a lot, a lot of comedians, a lot of comments that like, "See, it's all they do, they talk about", you know. But just because a lot of them, they don't understand what it's like to be the only one of a different color in the room. They have never felt that. When I walked onto the stage, I used to get butterflies, but I have performed for so long now, I don't feel that anymore. But it's the best rush and by far, making people laugh and helping them forget about their problems is the best drug.

David Klein, a longtime healthcare innovator and Founder and CEO of Click Therapeutics, is a pioneer in the field of prescription digital therapeutics, PDT, which are defined as software as medicine. Click has received FDA authorization for an app to treat depression and migraine and had a successful piviotal trial for an app treating negative symptoms of schizophrenia. These digital therapeutics are designed to fill significant gaps in current care and there are opportunities to combine software with drugs and biometric data from wearables to determine personalized treatment plans. David explains, "Click's approach towards digital therapeutics is, I would say, probably the most rigorous from a clinical evidence perspective in the industry. So we really take a drug-like clinical approach to these programs where we discover and then validate these programs in multiple randomized control trials, all culminating usually in a pivotal trial. And on top of that, you'll often see in some other areas of the world or even in this country, to some degree, folks might say randomized control trial, but they're really using standard of care as the control or wait list control, and so on and so forth. We actually test our interventions against sham active control, so against other apps that control for time on task, expectation of benefit, and so on and so forth." "Just a few months ago, we announced with Behringer Ingelheim, our partner in schizophrenia, that we hit our primary endpoint in our pivotal trial for our app that's designed to be a treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia. So, the holy grail, in serious mental illness altogether, but certainly in schizophrenia, is trying to mitigate negative symptoms of schizophrenia. This is such a huge patient issue and frankly an economic issue that none of the drugs have been successful at actually hitting it. So that's a unique one because we showed that an app can actually effectively and safely treat a disease that even a drug can't." #ClickTherapeutics #DigitalTherapeutics #DigitalHealth #FDA #MedicalDevices #SoftwareAsMedicine #HealthTech #Innovation #Migraine #Depression #Schizophrenia #PrescriptionApps #PDT #PrescriptionDigitalTherapeutics #ClinicalTrials #HealthcareInnovation clicktherapeutics.com Download the transcript here

Stéphanie welcomes Kathrine Lee to discuss, through the film "Still Hope," the harsh realities of human trafficking, the hope that is possible beyond it, and the life-changing freedom that comes from knowing Christ.Hope, identity, and healing are possible, no matter the darkness. Forgiveness is a courageous, ongoing act that transforms not only survivors of trafficking but anyone struggling with pain. By embracing story, community, and action, each of us can help bring healing and God's light into the darkest places—starting with ourselves. Our brains remember narratives far more vividly than mere facts. The movie “Still Hope” stands apart from other films on human trafficking by showcasing not only the darkness but also the healing journey that survivors undertake. The film's narrative is survivor-informed—real experiences, heartbreak, and ultimately, hope are at its core. This careful storytelling invites viewers not just to witness, but to empathize and reflect on their own lives.A central theme in both the movie and Kathrine Lee's work is the biblical truth that one's true identity cannot be stolen—even by the evil of trafficking. The movie's protagonist, Hope, has her name changed by her trafficker. Yet, she emerges, still Hope. Kathrine Lee shares a moving insight from a survivor: “They can take so much from me, but they cannot take my name.” This empowers survivors to remember who they are as beloved children of God, with purpose and the possibility of transformation.Healing from trauma, especially such profound exploitation, is a long-term process. Pure Hope Foundation practices a trauma-informed approach, honoring each survivor's choices and pace. Some survivors advised on the film, lending authenticity to its scenes, while others prefer not to revisit those memories at all—a choice fully respected by Kathrine Lee and her team.Forgiveness is the critical theme. The journey is neither easy nor immediate. Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting, nor does it diminish the need for justice. Instead, it's about releasing the hold of pain and reclaiming freedom and light. As Kathrine Lee teaches, "Forgiveness equals freedom,” and is a process of aligning our lived reality with the truth of who God says we are.Trafficking injures people through an evil community, and it is in healthy, supportive community that true healing takes place. Pure Hope Foundation offers a space where survivors develop life skills, work experience, and a sense of belonging. The film also shows how healing encompasses the families of survivors, teaching everyone about boundaries, safe relationships, and grace.Awareness is not enough. Action is required—whether through supporting films like "Still Hope," volunteering, donating, or simply living out love and advocacy in everyday life. Worship and prayer also play an essential role, as these spiritual disciplines open our hearts to both healing and purpose.Let's take our place and bring hope to a hurting world.Three Important Questions to ponder after this conversation:· How did the narrative form of "Still Hope" shift your understanding of human trafficking?· In what ways do you resonate with the theme of identity that cannot be taken from you?· Where in your life might forgiveness—of yourself or others—bring greater freedom?MORE ABOUT THE MOVIE “STILL HOPE”Hope, a teenager from a tight-knit community, finds herself in danger when the person she believes to be a new friend proves unsafe. Taken from all she knows, Hope is forced into sex trafficking and stripped of her identity. After finding freedom from her captors, Hope discovers that survival is only the first step. Inspired by true stories, Hope's journey is a powerful illustration of the courage it takes to walk the complex path of recovery.“Unlike other films, this story isn't just about the rescue piece but also about redemption, resilience and walking alongside survivors on their journey to healing,” said Kathrine Lee, co-founder and CEO of Pure Hope Foundation. Pure Hope is a nonprofit organization mobilizing action against the sex trafficking industry and played a pivotal role in the real-life stories behind the film. “It highlights the bravery of women and men who have endured sex trafficking and the courageous work of recovery. That's why this film is so important.”Showcasing the aid of individuals and organizations who stand shoulder to shoulder with these warriors, viewers of Still Hope will be encouraged to join arms with advocates in the fight against trafficking.“Your voice and your support matters,” said Natalie Grant, cofounder of Hope for Justice, nine-time GRAMMY® nominee and supporter of Still Hope. “I want to encourage viewers to join this important and courageous work of healing—not just for each individual impacted by sex trafficking but for the dedicated advocates guiding those who are ready to receive support.”More at https://stillhopemovie.com/ MORE ABOUT PURE HOPE FOUNDATION WITH KATHRINE LEEKathrine Lee is the co-founder of Pure Hope Foundation, a second-stage program that restores survivors and aids in ending the demand for sex trafficking. They offer stabilized survivors continued healing, personal development, extended educational support and vocational skills to help them acquire skills that will allow for healthy, independent lives. The activities in Hope Home include trauma-informed restoration programming. Examples of programming include multidisciplinary therapies, nutritional education, GED pursuit, College Prep, educational assistance, financial literacy/education, Bible study and application, etc.More at https://purehopefoundation.com/ Support us on Gospel Spice, PayPal and Venmo!

In this week's episode of Next in Media, I sat down with Ian Trombetta, SVP of Social Influencer and Content Marketing for the NFL. We dove deep into how the league is winning the creator economy by building long-term partnerships with rising stars like Kai Cenat, Sketch, and Mr. Beast. Ian shared how his team identifies talent before they blow up, creating authentic relationships that benefit both the creators and the NFL's global reach. What struck me most was how the NFL isn't just throwing money at big names - they're investing in momentum and cultural relevance, finding creators who genuinely connect with the next generation of fans.Ian also walked me through the challenges of scaling this strategy globally, the lessons learned from his time at Red Bull and Activision, and what it takes to work with YouTube on their first-ever NFL broadcast. We discussed the NFL's massive Super Bowl creator activation - with over 150 creators on the ground in San Francisco - and how they're using everything from cooking competitions to fashion shows to showcase the culture around the game. Ian's philosophy is clear: let creators be themselves, provide them with massive value and exposure, and the authentic engagement will follow. It's a masterclass in modern brand building._________________________________________________________________Key Highlights:
