Arsenal's financial results are in — and the numbers tell a story. In Episode 174, we break down the club's 2025 revenue surge, Champions League impact, sponsorship growth and wage structure, asking what it really means for Arsenal's trajectory. Is this sustainable growth? How does the new financial model affect future transfer windows? And with PSR gone and a new system incoming, what does the summer actually look like?We also debate the controversial 3.9% ticket price rise and the introduction of the A+ category for Champions League knockout games. With merchandise flying off the shelves and revenues climbing, is this smart business — or bad faith? Where should the balance sit between global growth and protecting match-going fans? From there, attention turns to Europe. The Champions League draw looms, with Arsenal facing either Atalanta or Bayer Leverkusen. We react to a chaotic knockout night, assess the possible paths ahead, and discuss what really matters at this stage of the competition — league phase fatigue or knockout mentality?Part two shifts to football matters on the pitch. We analyse squad dynamics ahead of Chelsea:– The left wing debate and whether Saka moves wide again– Ødegaard's role and match sharpness– Hincapié vs Calafiori at left-back– Defensive structure and late-game control– What Chelsea might change after recent stumblesIs this a statement opportunity? Or a potential banana skin?Plus, this week's Who Am I? takes us through one of the strangest transfers in Arsenal history — a story involving QPR, Palace, Spurs, Chelsea… and even NFL Europe.Financial growth. Southampton were left frustrated once again as a dominant display yielded just a point in a 1–1 draw with Charlton at St Mary's. Despite 72% possession, 28 shots and nine corners, Saints couldn't turn control into three points. Ross Stewart's excellent header gave Saints the lead, but defensive lapses and disruptive substitutions allowed Nathan Jones' side back into it.We analyse the missed chances, the impact of the substitutions, Flynn Downes' fire and whether criticism of Finn Azaz and Tom Fellows is fair. With seven games unbeaten but slipping to 11th in a congested table, how damaging could this result prove?Attention quickly turns to QPR on Tuesday night. Level on points with Saints and arriving in solid away form, it's another big test in a crucial week. We preview the match, discuss selection dilemmas and share our score predictions. There's also discussion on Saints' FA fine following the Pompey clash, Fulham away in the FA Cup, and the latest on our Benali on Tour fundraiser for the Saints Foundation. On this week's episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, we're joined by one of the Premier League's original centre-forward royalty… Les Ferdinand. Before the goal compilations, before the Sky Sports montages, before strikers were measured by pressing data and heat maps, there was “Sir Les”. QPR icon. Newcastle hero. The man leading the line when the Premier League still felt brand new. A proper No.9. Power, presence, goals everywhere he went. If you grew up in the 90s, you knew exactly what Les Ferdinand meant. He joins Pete, Sids and Chris to talk about the journey from West London non-league graft to becoming one of the most feared forwards in the country. There's the unbelievable story of starting out as a goalkeeper, the Turkey move that changed his mentality forever, and the sliding doors moment with Manchester United that could have rewritten football history. We get into loyalty, ambition, dressing room politics and the brutal advice from Ray Wilkins that stuck with him for life. It's honest, funny, reflective and packed with the kind of insight only someone who's lived it can give. We've split our conversation Les into two parts, and after we transition out of the nostalgia fuelled Part 1, things immediately descend into remote chaos. We build up to Macclesfield's FA Cup tie and what it could mean for the pod, update the leaderboard as the pressure ramps up, and dive into this week's Paddy Power predictions with a North London Derby thrown into the mix. There's a live package opened on air that nobody fully understands, some technical mishaps, a bit of shouting about scores, and the sort of disorder that only seems to happen when we're not all in the same room.Part 2 with Les drops next week. West Ham have finally get back to winning ways against QPR in the FA Cup, but the victory has been overshadowed by the €35 million transfer bid from Flamengo for Lucas Paquetá. This week on The West Ham Breakdown, Jack and Cal navigate the bittersweet aftermath of a cup win and the impossible choice facing the West Ham board: do you cash in on an talisman who wants a move back to Brazil, or is sanctioning his departure now tantamount to accepting relegation from the Premier League. They also break down the QPR match, analysing the shift to a 4-4-2 and how a front line featuring Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe changed the dynamic and discussing what lessons Nuno Espírito Santo could bring into games against Premier League opposition. Plus, a deep dive into the underlying data of our midfield and defence—comparing West Ham's central hubs to our direct relegation rivals to just how our squad stacks up against our opposition. We wrap up by looking at the January transfer window and whether the club should be recruiting for a survival fight or for life in the Championship. The latest episode of The Wednesday Week is out, and there's plenty to get stuck into. We look back at Sheffield Wednesday's away days at Preston and QPR — two trips, plenty of talking points, and unfortunately no points in the bag.As ever, it's not just about the football. We get into the latest takeover rumours, separating fact from fiction (and nonsense), before having a proper chat about the potential exits of Pierce Charles and Charlie McNeill. We also discuss the likely recall of Harry Amass by Manchester United and what that could mean for Wednesday going forward.Expect match reaction, opinions, a bit of frustration, a bit of gallows humour, and plenty of proper football banter — all from a Sheffield Wednesday point of view.
Send us a textThe silence after the last shift can be deafening. We dive into what really happens when the badge comes off and the calls stop, tracing the steep drop from team identity and adrenaline to isolation, substance use, and rising suicide risk. With honesty and urgency, we unpack why retirement hits first responders so hard and outline a practical safety net that works in the real world. We talk through the addictive rhythm of police, fire, EMS, and corrections work—why the culture bonds like family, and why role loss feels like grief, not change management. From the “greatest show in town” to the long, quiet afternoons, we map the transition pitfalls: relationship strain, gambling, financial pressure, heavy drinking, and access to means. Then we move to solutions that stick: QPR training for everyone, union-led outreach to members on injury or IA, and a retiree association built on peer mentors, quarterly meetups, and easy referral to culture-competent clinicians and recovery coaches.Therapy only helps when it respects the culture. We make the case for long-term, stigma-free care that starts at the kitchen table, not a clipboard wall. Leaders play a decisive role, too: fund peer teams, protect privacy, standardize evaluations, and create fair return-to-duty paths that treat mental health injuries like broken bones. Fire service models show how trust grows when unions hold the keys and chiefs clear the way. Our aim is simple—keep people connected, valued, and alive long after the radio goes quiet. If this conversation resonates, share it with your crew, subscribe for more candid tools and stories, and leave a review to help other first responders find us.
