Why cross-training staff and keeping up with staff training is critical right now, especially during the Great Resignation. Why you need to capture and write down the processes for various roles. The importance of trust in associations—with members, with staff leaders and co-workers, with your content. Distrust has become exacerbated in times of uncertainty, such as the #MeToo movement, Black Lives Matter and the COVID-19 pandemic. How to endeavor trust in member relations and content. How much trust do you have in yourself? Do you keep your promises to yourself? How the pandemic increased local and regional member participation. Most holistic practitioners think they’ll take the straight road to success. They believe one thing will lead to the next and they’ll see dozens of smiling patients per day. But when reality kicks in and things outside of their control happen, they fight what’s happening instead of focusing on making a bigger impact and building their dream practice. In this episode, you’ll hear all about how to avoid this trap and use whatever is happening to your advantage. You’ll not only grow your practice quicker–you’ll also be happier and more at peace instead of worrying about what happens around you. Show highlights include: How holistic practitioners suffocate their own success right as it begins to happen. (3:20) How to use your way of treatment on your own practice. (6:25) The secret to “healing” your practice and making it the haven you want it to be. (12:40) The worst (yet most common) way of responding to pressure. (15:35) Ready to fill your practice and keep it full? Sometimes I do interviews that don’t have a live audience and I try to figure out when and where to add them to what I’m already doing with the Association Chat podcast. When I had a chance to catch up with my good friend, event designer Tahira Endean, it was as she was wrapping up a world tour of experiences, including attending The College of Extraordinary Experiences in Poland. We talked about all kinds of things, but the theme of our conversation, the through line, was designing experience. Here is a little piece of that discussion. I’ll be sharing more from that interview (and others from 2018 on the same topic) in the coming days. As we went into this part of our conversation, Tahira had just started talking about the importance of rapid prototyping. For more on this topic, watch the Amplified Growth blog in the coming days.

Adrian is an acknowledged innovator and speaker on participant-led event design, and facilitates two popular opening and closing plenaries. His latest book, The Power of Participation: Creating Conferences That Deliver Learning, Connection, Engagement, and Action—described by Paul Salinger, VP of Marketing, Oracle, as a book that “should be OPEN on every meeting planner’s and event marketer’s desk, and used every day”—is a compendium of participation techniques that meeting planners and presenters can use to significantly improve any meeting session.
