Last week news broke that streaming giant Netflix has acquired the rights to the full back catalogue of the works of 20th Century author Roald Dahl. It had to spend a huge amount of cash to get the Roald Dahl Story Company, and Netflix has committed to a production budget of over one billion dollars to create series and one off productions out of Dahl's stories. It's the latest in a series of big scale "content" acquisitions in the fierce competition between streaming services. To try and figure out what is going on, and what this might mean for what turns up on our screens, I'm joined by Tamaki-Makaurau based director and producer Amanda Robinson.

Amanda Robinson, the Founder of The Digital Gal, joins the Social Pros Podcast to discuss her new book, “Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing,” and the power of messenger chatbots, and why more businesses need to embrace this incredible technology. Huge thanks to our amazing sponsors for helping us make this happen. Please support them; we couldn't do it without their help! This week: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Full Episode Details Everyone has a superpower. You could be a master on Instagram, a LinkedIn expert, or a pro at social media marketing. Whatever your superpower is, you need to find it and leverage it. However, although your powers may reside with one social platform, you need to know what’s going on around you. Amanda Robinson, the Founder of The Digital Gal, suggests that every social pro must identify their superpower and then strive to understand other platforms. If you just operate in your lane, you won’t be prepared to handle something unexpected up ahead. In this episode, we talk to Amanda, The Digital Gal herself, about her new book, “Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing,” and how to use Facebook ads and messenger bots for maximum results. Many people misconstrue messenger bots to be invasive and problematic. According to Amanda, that’s not what a messenger bot is at all – “A messenger bot is about giving - giving back to people, giving value, giving a better experience, & giving faster information.” In This Episode: 04:16 – The challenges of writing a book about social media 06:24 – Why you need to find your social media superpower while having general knowledge about other platforms 09:47 – What people are doing wrong on social media 13:59 – What messenger marketing chatbots are and what you need to know about them 21:59 – How to manage messenger marketing chatbots 26:02 – How to measure the performance of chatbots 30:58 – How to convince others about the value and importance of chatbots 33:30 – How Amanda’s workshop students differ from those that came before Resources Get the new State of Marketing report for free from Salesforce Find out more about the community at SocialMedia.org with a special form for Social Pros listeners Learn more about The Digital Gal Read “Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing” Visit SocialPros.com for more insights from your favorite social media marketers.

Whether you make plans based on calendar year or just want to think ahead, having a proper marketing strategy in place is an essential part of your business success. Think of it like planning a vacation. You need to decide where you’re going to go and how long you’re going to stay there. You will need to buy plane tickets and make a hotel reservation. And some of you may cover your desk in post it notes with specific things to do. You create the overall plan and the structure that’s needed for the vacation to be a success, then allow yourself to have a great time while you’re there. Imagine if, however, instead of booking a hotel room, you simply decided to show up in Aspen one weekend. Would you be able to stay at the hotel you wanted? Probably not. And you’d waste a lot of time trying to find a room while you were supposed to be relaxing. Social Media Marketing is the same way. Being flexible and timely and posting ‘in the moment’ are all great things. But without a strategy in place, you’ll waste a lot of time trying to figure out what to say, where, when you’re supposed to be executing and driving engagement. That’s where the 360 Marketing Squad can help! Based on years of experience, Jenn Herman, Stephanie Liu, Amanda Robinson and Mike Allton are going to share with you their best practices and forward-thinking advice. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: Where to start your Marketing Strategy planning The key elements of a successful Marketing Strategy Pitfalls to avoid Great tools or techniques to use
Let’s face it, we’ve all experienced some of the worst parts of social media. Trolls and haters who land in our post comments and fill them with unbounded negativity. How do you protect yourself or your family or your business from these online predators? The 360 Marketing Squad has years of experience dealing with these issues and more. In this episode of 360 Marketing Live, Jenn Herman, Stephanie Liu, Amanda Robinson and Mike Allton are going to share with you their recommendations on how to keep yourself safe and secure, across all your social networks. IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN: ▸ How concerned should you be about privacy on social media? ▸ What are some ways you can check or change your privacy settings? ▸ What can you do if you find that someone has invaded your privacy, like creating a duplicate profile? ▸ What about trolls? What can you do about argumentative, negative, harassing people on social media? ▸ Is there any benefit to allowing comments on social media, or even blog posts these days?

Anything bots can do I can do better, and we don’t want them to take over the world and put us all out of jobs right? So just how useful is this tech? Surely it can’t do anything you can’t already do yourself? Today I talk to Amanda Robinson about the myriad of things that bots can do to enhance the marketing you’re already doing, or take a few things off your hands so you can get back to doing what you do best.
Emotional marketing is hard to get right, especially on Instagram. When I think about Instagram marketing and getting it right, who else could I ask but the famous Jenn Herman?! After speaking to Katie Clift, in episode 7, about PR and Marketing in a digital world, I thought Jenn would be a perfect guest to drill down into the topic of emotional marketing, specifically Instagram. In this episode, Jenn and I cover a ton of topics and get a bit sidetracked when we learn about the official 'death' of Google Plus. Honestly, the entire episode I was a bit 'star struck' since Jenn has been one of my go-to gals for everything Instagram. Her live content and extremely engaging posts really show her true value. A Bit About the Guest Jenn Herman is one of the best Instagram and overall social media strategists I know. Her content is on point and always relevant. Since starting Jenn’s Trends in 2013, she's become a globally recognized expert in Instagram marketing and the forefront blogger on Instagram marketing. Her content has been featured in various media and publications including major media articles, radio interviews, podcasts, magazines, and guest blogs.
