Thanks to all the guests who appeared on the podcast this season. In this last episode Anjua shares how each guest was the embodiment of her favorite phrases, 'take up space'. In a society that is focused on keeping us in a assigned pre-determined boxes, being yourself seems to be one of the most difficult things to achieve. So much so that when we do meet someone who is being authentically themselves we actually comment on it like it's a phenomena, "Ally is such a breath a fresh air! It's so cool how she's so comfortable being herself." From Imani embracing the call to embody her feminine voice and energy through her creation of Imani Vanzap to Allison Cruz, a sexual abuse survivor who turned her pain into purpose each guest shared how they chose to be, do and say what was truest to them in order to live the life they wanted for themselves. It was an honor to speak with each guest and learn how we can continue to be the brightest version of ourselves. Thank you to all the listeners for your support and comments. In this episode, Anjua Maximo and I discuss how and why we've become so disconnected from our bodies, and how sensual movement can help us reconnect. It was as a manager for fitness apparel giant lululemon athletica that Anjua first fell in love with personal development. What she learned about leadership and entrepreneurship inspired her to join forces with her husband in launching a business venture in 2015 that became GrooveRyde - Cleveland's premier boutique micro-gym. While GrooveRyde's mission to transform you from the inside out was a labor of love, Anjua's true passion lies with her Electric Life personal development and leadership courses and Pure Mvmnt classes. In 2014 she became a certified Life & Leadership Coach through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). From teaching women to create a powerful vision for their lives to guiding them to a positive and powerful connection to their sensual energy, she has found ways to use movement and personal development to coach the ‘Whole Woman'. In this episode, we discuss: · The two major moments that changed the direction of her life. · How our childhood views and expectations of what we should look like can impact our connection to our bodies and our sexuality. · How reconnecting with our bodies through movement can lead to major emotional breakthroughs. · Our tendency to compartmentalize certain parts of ourselves, especially our sexuality and sensuality. · All the mixed messages we get about our sexuality and how that impacts with our view of ourselves. · The importance of only loosely holding onto goals so we can flow more with life. · What it means to live an electric life. · The power of making friends with and trying to understand the negative voice in your head. · The importance of understanding your energy and identifying the energetic drains in your life. · How we need to identify and question the values that were place upon us and choose which values are right for our lives. Episode 48 of Uncharted Performance presents two exciting new guests, Anjua Maximo and Jen Speed. Anjua is the creator of PURE MVMNT, a certified life coach and co-creator of GrooveRyde and Jen is the co-creator of IronWill and a coach at PURE MVMNT. This is not our usual “how to get stronger in your lifts ” type of episode as we explore an entirely different movement practice. Anjua and Jen take us on a journey into the world of sensual dance. They’ve build more than a fitness studio but a place for women to find connection, community and a no-judgement place for self-love to flourish by encouraging self-expression through movement. Their goal is for women to feel great in their bodies but we could all learn to slow down a little and move with intention.
