In Part 2, Hari Prasada and Rasanath vividly share what it was like in the heat of the moment distributing books in the streets and subways of New York City. They open up more about pivotal struggles they faced, including feeling humiliation and imposter syndrome, and how letting go in the spirit of service made room for the transformation we all crave deep down. Beyond being a most vital practice of compassion by outreach, book distribution also became a mirror that reflected their concocted identities, resistance to change, and something of the true self that lies beneath all these coverings.Links Enneagram Certification Program Upbuild Coaching Certification Training (starts in October) Upbuild Website Instagram: @upbuildnycFacebook: UpbuildLinkedIn: Upbuild

When clients are not making the investment, they are less accountable. And, when a 3rd party pays, they have a lot of expectations.Let's talk through the pro's and con's of corporate paid clients so you can make an informed decision about your business model.I'd love to hear from you. Introduction: How do you dig deeper with your team to create real engagement? In part two, Shannon Nutter shares advanced strategies for innovation, avoiding the whack-a-mole trap of constant firefighting, and the critical skill of asking better questions as a leader-facilitator. Summary: This episode dives into the practical side of leadership development. Shannon explains why leaders should function as facilitators rather than directors, how to balance innovation with results, and the importance of slowing down to truly know your people. She shares personal stories about recognizing when team members need human connection over business conversations. Highlights: Why successful innovation requires a 70% failure rate (like baseball batting averages) The whack-a-mole syndrome that keeps teams busy but not productive How great leaders facilitate rather than dictate solutions The power of asking "What are we missing here?" and "How could that work?" When to pause business conversations for human moments Key Takeaways: Innovation means creating customer value in new ways, not just building new features Experimentation should include budget for learning, not just success metrics Leaders are facilitators who pull knowledge from the room rather than pushing their own Knowing your people deeply means understanding their motivations, frustrations, and insecurities Sometimes the most important conversation isn't about work at all Next Steps: Start one project as an experiment with defined learning goals, not just success metrics Practice facilitating meetings by asking questions instead of giving answers Create space in your schedule for unplanned human moments with team members Connect with Shannon on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shannon-nutter/

NFL Head Coach Kevin O'Connell of the Minnesota Vikings recently spoke at a leadership event— and I couldn't wait to hit record and share what I took away. In this episode, I walk through the powerful themes he shared, especially his two core pillars of leadership: authenticity and empathy. You'll hear how these human-centered values show up in his leadership style, how they connect to the servant leadership philosophy, and why these skills are more essential than ever in 2025. From leading in tough times to building a culture where people matter and belong, this is a reminder that leadership is deeply human - and that how we lead matters just as much as where we're going. Learn how to create a vision-driven exit while building a business that puts people first and generates exponential value In this powerful episode, I sit down with one of the most genuine entrepreneurs I know to explore how to achieve a vision-driven exit by focusing on the real drivers behind sustainable business growth. We dive deep into how solving critical customer problems rather than chasing trends, investing heavily in team development, and maintaining unwavering intentionality during major business decisions can transform a startup into a multi-million dollar success story with the perfect strategic partner. This conversation reveals the counterintuitive truth that putting people before profits and staying true to your vision actually generates far greater financial returns and creates the optionality needed for an ideal exit. My guest today is Raf Peeters, a goal-oriented entrepreneur who has built three successful startups and is known for his strong work ethic and total solution approach. Starting as a service engineer in the food industry, Raf traveled to over 40 countries, built trusted partnerships across multiple cultures, and scaled US operations from zero to over $4M in annual sales. As the founder of QFI, he transformed his deep industry knowledge into a food quality assurance equipment company that recently completed a strategic acquisition entirely on his terms. What sets Raf apart is his infectious positivity, genuine commitment to developing his team through substantial coaching investments, and his ability to maintain long-term vision while building sustainable business fundamentals. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Focus on solving "must-have" problems rather than "nice-to-have" solutions, as these survive economic downturns and drive consistent revenue growth. Spend substantial time with customers in their actual work environments to truly understand their pain points and identify business-critical needs. Trust your initial gut instincts about major decisions, as overthinking often leads you away from the right choice. The moments when you most want to quit are typically when you're closest to a major breakthrough - persistence through resistance pays off. Invest significantly in your team's development through coaching and growth opportunities, as this creates loyalty that transcends salary competition. Build your business with strong fundamentals and fix core issues early, because scaling amplifies both strengths and weaknesses exponentially. Maintain financial discipline to preserve optionality - having choices during acquisition discussions leads to better outcomes than desperation selling. Be intentional about partner selection during exits, prioritizing cultural alignment and shared values over purely financial metrics for long-term success. Growing your business is hard, but it doesn't have to be. In this podcast, we will be discussing top level strategies for both growing and expanding your business beyond seven figures. The show will feature a mix of pure content and expert interviews to present key concepts and fundamental topics in a variety of different formats. We believe that this format will enable our listeners to learn the most from the show, implement more in their businesses, and get real value out of the podcast. Enjoy the show. Great leadership isn't always comfortable – sometimes, it hurts. Not physically, but emotionally. In this episode of the LEITWOLF® Podcast, Stefan speaks about a side of leadership that is rarely talked about – yet many leaders know it well: making decisions that disappoint, speaking truths others avoid, and standing firm when it's unpopular. You'll learn why uncomfortable decisions are often a sign of strong leadership, how to give difficult feedback in a way that truly helps, and why it's essential to talk about these moments with other leaders. Leadership can hurt – especially when it drives real change. But that's often exactly when the most important things happen: growth, clarity, and trust. ––– Do you like the LEITWOLF® Leadership podcast? In this episode, I'm reflecting on a question that's been sitting with me lately: Does any of this really matter? It was sparked by a thoughtful LinkedIn post from Vanessa Forslev, and it's a question many of us ask - especially during times of chaos, uncertainty, or overwhelm. I talk about the very real pull to veer off course - even when the course still aligns with your purpose - and why it's so important to stay grounded in your “why.” I also share powerful lessons from a client organization that's staying the course despite external challenges, including funding cuts and political pressures. Their example is a beautiful reminder of what it looks like to lead with clarity, compassion, and courage. If you've ever felt discouraged, distracted, or tempted to abandon a path that once felt meaningful - this episode is for you. Enjoy! The discussion opened with insights from Amy Edmondson and Brené Brown, highlighting how trust is built incrementally through "micro moments" and the critical role of vulnerability. Asha shared a powerful personal anecdote of how her vulnerability during a challenging period in Bangladesh fostered deep team connection and enabled significant professional achievements. The conversation then expanded to practical strategies, including The Elevate School's CBI (Credibility, Benevolence, Integrity) framework for assessing and building trust. They also tackled the unique challenges of cultivating trust in today's unpredictable, hybrid work environments, emphasizing the paramount importance of a leader's consistent "presence." Finally, Smita and Asha offered actionable takeaways for both new and seasoned leaders to continuously strengthen trust, underscoring that a truly trustworthy leader models the desired behaviors and fosters a culture of open communication, accountability, and genuine human connection. Key Takeaways and Learnings: Trust as the Foundation of Teamwork: Trust is the "invisible thread" and "oxygen" that creates psychologically safe spaces, enabling individuals to be authentic, take risks, and foster high-performing collaboration.Micro Moments Build Macro Trust: Trust is not built through grand gestures but through consistent, small, daily interactions and acknowledgments, as highlighted by Brené Brown's "sliding door moments."The Power of Vulnerability (When Appropriate): Leaders' vulnerability, when coupled with steadiness and appropriate timing, fosters deeper connections and relatability. Asha's personal story exemplified how accepting help during a vulnerable time transformed her leadership journey and built immense trust. The CBI Framework for Trust: A robust framework for assessing and building trust involves:Credibility & Competence: Demonstrating knowledge, skills, and the ability to effectively fulfill responsibilities, proving you "walk the talk."Benevolence: Showing genuine care and concern for team well-being, consistency in kind actions, taking responsibility, and ensuring people feel seen and supported.Integrity: Maintaining consistency between words and actions, adhering to ethical principles, honesty, and giving credit where it is due.Consistency is Non-Negotiable: For all aspects of trust-building, consistency in a leader's behavior is vital for dependability and to avoid confusion or mistrust within the team.Strategic Presence in Hybrid Work: In remote or hybrid settings, maintaining a leader's "presence" (even virtually) is crucial for building trust, fostering connection, and ensuring team members feel engaged and not isolated. This requires intentional check-ins and empathetic communication.Tailored Trust-Building Approaches:For New Leaders: Focus on humility, active listening, observing, showing genuine respect for existing structures, and thoughtfully offering input that supports rather than overshadows. For Seasoned Leaders: Leverage immense wisdom and experience by continuing personal growth, learning, and adapting to new viewpoints and generations, becoming profoundly inspiring through evolving relevance.Indicators of High-Trust Teams: Teams with strong trust exhibit candid and respectful conversations, open sharing of diverse opinions, shared ownership of mistakes, reduced politics, increased collaboration, and a clear focus on collective goals.Practical Steps for Strengthening Trust: Regular practices include checking in personally (beyond just tasks), recognizing efforts and planning (not just outcomes), modeling accountability by owning mistakes, and leading with consistent, thoughtful intention. "Cultural listening" – observing subtle team dynamics – offers powerful insights.Model the Desired Behavior: The most effective way for leaders to build trustworthiness is to embody the behaviors they wish to see in their team, setting the "tone at the top" through their actions rather than just words. #LeadershipTrust #EcoSystemicLeadership #TeamBuilding #VulnerabilityInLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #WorkplaceCulture #CBITrust #OrganizationalDevelopment #HighPerformingTeams #CoachingCulture #EmployeeEngagement #FutureOfWork #AshaMinion #TheElevateSchool

This week's episode of "No More Leadership BS" tackles the uncomfortable truth about leadership perception that's been hiding in plain sight. The No More Leadership BS Gang dive deep into the fascinating disconnect between how leaders see themselves and how their teams actually experience them. While leaders obsess over vision, strategic thinking, and decision-making prowess, their people are desperately craving something entirely different: authenticity, consistency, and genuine human connection. The Leadership Reality Check ->What Leaders Think Matters Most: Vision, strategic thinking, decision-making under pressure, emotional intelligence ->What Followers Actually Crave: Consistency, trust, authentic communication, feeling valued and heard ->The Trust Factor: Why consistency of behavior trumps perfection every single time ->Communication Revolution: Moving from "need to know" to "trust them to know" The Bottom Line The most effective leaders understand this fundamental shift: it's not about what you DO, it's about who you ARE. Your character, how you make people feel, and whether they trust you with their professional lives matters infinitely more than your strategic brilliance. Tune In For: ->The myth-busting truth about why 86% of CEOs report mental health impacts ->Real stories from leaders who got it right (and what made them unforgettable) ->The three leadership courses that need to exist but don't ->Why "doing" your best isn't enough when "being" your best is what counts Ready to bridge the perception gap and become the leader people actually want to follow? Sometimes the most profound leadership insights come from simply asking: "How do I make my people feel?"

In this third episode of the Magic of a Quote series, I unpack one of Walt Disney's most well-known and powerful quotes: “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” I reflect on Walt's journey, the setbacks he faced, and how his unwavering belief in his vision inspires my own path. More importantly, I explore how this quote translates into real life—what it means to have courage, why it's often the missing ingredient in goal achievement, and how we can all take meaningful action despite fear or uncertainty. Together, they form a roadmap for leading with belief in yourself, building meaningful relationships, and staying anchored in self-awareness. Each of us is wired with a specific hierarchy of three core instinctual drives, shaping how we move through the world. The Instincts (sometimes referred to as Instinctual Variants) is part of the Enneagram framework and plays a powerful role in how our personalities form. One Instinct tends to dominate and demands most of our attention, a second supports it, while a third gets neglected and becomes a blind spot. In this episode, Michael, Hari, and Rasanath unpack the three Instincts—Sexual, Social, and Self-Preservation—and how they show up in our daily lives. They explore the energy behind each, how these Instincts function at their healthiest, and how they can create suffering. By understanding your “Instinctual Stack,” you can begin to shift from automatic patterns to conscious integration, creating space for real growth and movement toward the best version of yourself.Links Enneagram Certification Program (starts May 17th) Upbuild Coaching Certification Training (starts in October) Upbuild Website Instagram: @upbuildnycFacebook: UpbuildLinkedIn: Upbuild
