Trusting the Body's Wisdom – A Journey of Healing with Cheri Dostal Ryba

Episode Description: In this deeply moving and profoundly insightful episode, Amy Wheeler welcomes yoga therapist, author, and pelvic health expert Cheri Dostal Ryba to share her personal story of healing, embodiment, and reclamation. Cheri's journey touches on intergenerational trauma, family estrangement, caregiving for a parent in crisis, and the body's remarkable wisdom in processing, protecting, and ultimately guiding us toward healing.Cheri vulnerably recounts the transformative chapter of her life that unfolded after her family returned to Wisconsin, just as her book, Pelvic Yoga Therapy for the Whole Woman, was released. Amid navigating her family's unraveling, Cheri found herself in the heart of her own embodied healing journey — trusting the intelligence of her body, allowing grief to move through her, and reclaiming her own sense of safety, belonging, and joy. This conversation is a testament to the power of somatic practice, ancestral healing, and trusting the subtle (and not-so-subtle) signals our bodies give us, even when our minds may not yet have words for the story. Please note: This episode touches on sensitive topics, including family trauma, suicide attempts, and intergenerational wounding. It is love in the harshest, hardest form.” - Loren Ridinger “If I have a bad day personally—and a bad day could be I'm just sad, I don't want to get up, I feel heartbroken, I feel angry, I feel mad—I give myself grace for going through those emotions.” - Loren Ridinger “When you lose someone, you lose belief. You question God. You question all types of things. And then all of a sudden, it's God that helps you back out of it. It's Him who says, ‘We can get through anything.’” - Loren Ridinger “We're all going to have a death date. We all have that. But what we do with that line—that little dash—is what will make the difference. And that's what we do with our life. Let's make the biggest difference to help people. What are you going to do with the dash?” - Loren Ridinger, quoting her late husband JR Ridinger “We only get this lifetime that we know of, and the most important thing that you can do is enjoy the journey because life is short.” - Loren Ridinger “God used music in my life, not only as this instrument to encourage people and lift the hearts of people, but to help build bridges and communicate with people that maybe on any given day probably wouldn't even have me in their home.” - Lynda Randle “When you can't have a conversation with some people because they just don't want to talk or they are so angry, music has a way of melting the heart, calming the spirit.” - Lynda Randle “I know that the ministry that God's given me to build bridges is significant. It's necessary. And a lot of walls are coming down.” - Lynda Randle “I just want every woman to know no matter what the brokenness, no matter what the pain, no matter what the devastation—God sees you as a whole woman.” - Lynda Randle _______________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! We've all seen it: many coaching programs these days promise "ease," yet few incorporate somatic work, nervous system support, and a truly body-led business approach.  Yet what does ease really mean when our bodies and nervous systems are not prepared to receive it? If the cost of success is our nervous system health, peace of mind, quality of relationships, sexual polarity, and the freedom to spend time with loved ones, is this the cost you want to take?  Nourished and feminine leadership prioritizes success that comes with aliveness, love, spaciousness and peace. And somatic work helps you create sustainable business growth that is good both for your bank account and your peace. Whether you're launching a new coaching program or scaling your online course, integrating these practices is what is going to drive long-term, aligned success. While my work as a leader in the coaching industry brings immense joy and fulfillment, the truth is, it is not it at the end of the day… my heart is armored, my body is numb, or life is consumed with constant striving. True feminine energy in business requires nourishing practices that build nervous system capacity, encourage productivity without burnout, and support consistent MRR growth. In this episode, I dive into how our nervous systems often reject love, money, freedom, and success—especially when these come with ease—and how to navigate this challenge for consistent business growth, scaling for long-term results without sacrificing well-being.   HIGHLIGHTS:  Signs that your nervous system is calling for attention   Resolving the deeper unconscious beliefs in order to hold more wealth Why money has everything to do with somatic work Building a new identity for business success How we unconsciously sabotage our success The cost of the boss babe culture on our relationships Why prioritizing aliveness and love is good for your business   DIVE DEEPER INTO MY WORLD Holy Body –  somatic membership to grow your business, revolutionize your relationships and embody your power as a Whole Woman through the lenses of your nervous system FREE SOMATIC RESET QUIZ to discover which area in your life is needed a reset & get a somatic practice to nourish your biz, love life, or the woman at the center of it all Say hi to me on Insta

[Join the free HOLY WOMAN Somatic Experience on 31st Oct here]   We've all heard it: "gotta work hard in order to deserve pleasure". But we've got this completely upside down. What the female body needs is pleasure before productivity.  The truth is, by the time we're done with work at the end of the day, many of us find we don't have the nervous system capacity to give our best energy to our partner, family and community. But what if you could feel alive and nourished before starting your work? What if you start treating pleasure not only as a reward, but a necessity? What if you ended your work day still feeling open, relaxed, resourced? There are many ways to create that, but pleasure is included in all of them

It's quite something else to live in alignment with the wisdom of the body.   When you begin connecting with your body's wisdom and live in attunement to it, a whole new world opens up. The end of federal protection for abortion rights has led to a patchwork of state and local laws banning and even criminalizing healthcare choices that women continue to make every day. Amy Hagstrom Miller, founder and CEO of Whole Woman's Health, visits Will and Siva's class to discuss the implications of these developments for her work, as she combats a culture of shame and stigma around abortion. She says it's time to look for change beyond the judiciary — and to get men caring about reproductive justice.

In the wake of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, we check in with Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedi, an OB-GYN, abortion provider in Texas and founder Pegasus Health Justice Center.  Even before the ruling, thirteen states had “trigger” laws that enacted bans contingent on Roe being overturned and nine states had pre-existing bans which presumably go back in effect now that Roe has been overturned. Texas has both, and Planned Parenthood and Whole Woman's Health, along with other providers, stopped providing abortions as of Friday, based upon Attorney General Ken Paxton's statement that “abortion providers could be criminally liable for providing abortions starting today.” We spoke with Dr. Moayedi about where things go from here.

For years, McAllen, Texas, has been at the front lines in the struggle for reproductive access in the country. The city has only one abortion provider, the Whole Woman's Health Clinic, serving more than one million people in the area. It took them seven years, but filmmakers Maya Cueva and Leah Galant documented the community's story, trying to look past the polarizing sides of the debate, to focus on how people live in the gray areas of those two extremes. In this episode, they discuss their documentary “On the Divide” and explore the following question: What does choice mean without any options?
