This is Draw The Line Radio Show with Jacki-E, presenting the best music from female producers and DJs. Helping me Draw the Line this week, with her guest mix in the 2nd hour, it's Klarabell who's from Cologne. She learnt to DJ during lockdown, using a pair of Technics turntables and a Xone mixer. In March 2022, when club events resumed, she played her first small gigs at the events promoted by BergWacht at Artheater and Odonien in Cologne. In September she played the opening set for Marius Drescher at Artheater and, as a result, was invited to become part of the BergWacht resident crew. Her style is a mix of melodic techno and uplifting peak-time techno. In this episode of The Connected Care Team podcast, Rebecca MacKinnon, founder, and CEO of 5th Dimension Strategies discusses her background in post-acute care and how technology factors into the shifting healthcare environment.Meeting Demand in Post-Acute CareAsk any healthcare professional why they joined the industry, and they will likely recount a personal story that motivated their decision. Rebecca MacKinnon's interest in post-acute care was sparked in the late eighties when patients were being encouraged to self-manage their recovery process much sooner than in previous decades. After welcoming her second child, Rebecca returned home after just a 24-hour hospital stay.“It always seemed an oddity to me that we spend less than 1% of our lives in a hospital or in a physician's office, but we spend probably 90% of our healthcare dollars in those two places. And so for me, post-acute just makes a lot of sense.” – Rebecca MacKinnonConsulting in Health Tech After founding Beyond Now, a home health EMR software company, Rebecca sold the company to Cerner. The experience revealed her passion for working with early-stage companies, leading to the creation of 5th Dimension Strategies, an early-stage consulting firm that supports healthcare technology companies. Rebecca has helped lead several companies through various growth cycles within acute care and other healthcare environments through her work. “I think that any innovator who's entering healthcare has to pay particular attention to workflow and figure out how to create strategic relationships that really allow you to get into the steps that healthcare clinicians take.” – Rebecca MacKinnonEngaging Patients in a Post-Acute Care EnvironmentAs healthcare continues to shift to a post-acute care environment, providers are looking for ways to engage with patients outside the hospital. One of the biggest hurdles they face is the resistance of older patient demographics. Particularly in home health care, older patients have been slow to adopt healthcare technology, including virtual care and remote patient monitoring tools. Rebecca notes that younger demographics, who she refers to as “the new parent,” are big adopters of health tech.“But I can say it's only the very oldest in, the 75 plus that are true resistance to tech because so much of the world has gone there. The rest of us know we have to adapt, it's just the pace of it.” – Rebecca MacKinnonRelated:● Connect with Rebecca MacKinnon on LinkedIn● Learn more about the TigerConnect Product SuiteFollow TigerConnect on LinkedIn for episodes, announcements, and news.Subscribe to The Connected Care Team on your favorite platform to get new episodes first.

Today I’m speaking with saxophonist and composer David Binney. Originally from Los Angeles, David lived in New York City for nearly 40 years until recently returning to the LA area. He has over 20 albums out as a leader, and has worked with an unbelievable cast of musicians in a wide array of circumstances. We discuss how he balanced having a day job with being a musician when he first moved to New York, how the advent of the internet has changed the music scene and recording industry, the things he thinks are key to making a living in music today, his composition process, and much more.Connect with David:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/davidbinney/Website: http://davidbinney.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Ven2ra1Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/davidbinneyfan/Connect with Bernie's Bootlegs:Website: http://podcast.berniesbootlegs.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/berniesbootlegsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/berniesbootlegsTwitter: https://twitter.com/berniesbootlegsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/berniesbootlegs1About David, courtesy of davidbinney.com:"Acclaimed as a considerable and highly individual compositional talent, saxophonist David Binney is one of the most prolific jazz musicians on the scene today. Winning praise from critics and colleagues alike, David was singled out by JazzTimes as one of a handful of “players who have created an alternative jazz scene… all of whom are playing adventurous, original music.”David’s distinctive saxophone sound and innovative compositions have been heard from basement clubs in New York to jazz festivals in Europe and the world. In addition to his extensive work as a leader, he has been sought after as a sideman, appearing on record with Medeski, Martin & Wood, Uri Caine’s Mahler Project, and hundreds of others. David has also appeared on stage with Aretha Franklin, at Carnegie Hall, and with Maceo Parker, to name a few. He has produced all of his own 22 albums, and many others including two of the Lost Tribe releases, Scott Colley’s The Architect of the Silent Moment, and 8 Donny McCaslin releases, including the highly acclaimed Casting For Gravity, Fast Future, and Beyond Now.He also put together and produces the band that became the band on David Bowie’s Blackstar.David started his record label, Mythology Records, in 1998.He has won the DownBeat Critics Poll 3 different times in the Alto Saxophone category. Being a sideman for David Bowie on "Blackstar" has changed Donny McCaslin's musical life. Bowie has somehow kept him busy throughout the year, both through the "Blackstar" effect and the world tour for his own, Bowie-inspired, "Beyond Now". On David Bowie's final studio album, Blackstar, his vision was manifested by jazz saxophonist Donny McCaslin. Although the collaboration instantly threw Donny (and his core group of musicians) into the consciousness of both Bowie fanatics and the general public, diehard jazzheads have long been privy to the three-time Grammy-nominee for decades. Over the course of eleven studio albums as a bandleader and countless guest spots and side gigs, Donny has continuously pushed himself to discover new landscapes with each album. The present one building on the foundation of its predecessor. Beyond Now, Donny's twelfth release, is a continuing representation of this truth, finding its roots in the dynamic between himself and Bowie. In a collection of originals, challenging electronica/pop interpretations and two Bowie covers, Beyond Now is the ultimate evidence of what the legend saw in Danny and his expansive work.
