200 EPISODES!!!!!! A huge thank you to everyone! Let have some fun! Based out of Athens, GA, Ashes to Omens formed in late July 2017 as a 4 piece and have influences from Breaking Benjamin, Nothing More, Audioslave, Iron Maiden and more. Not long after their formation, vocalist James Branton was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and underwent treatment for it. The band quickly released their debut single “The Screws”, in August of 2017 and accompanied by a music video in February 2018. After overcoming cancer, Branton added a 2nd guitarist to the band and they became a 5 piece. Their self-titled indie album hit the indie charts in June 2018 and catapulted them to the number one position for Rock on Reverbnation in Athens, GA where it remained for 13 months. Not long after the release of their ep, they began work on their official full length album. The first release was "The Conflict Within". It was featured in Georgia Music Spotlight as being “energetic, straight ahead hard rock”. Full of monolithic mid-tempo hard rock riffs, anthemic (Slash-esque) guitar solos, and gritty, commanding vocals with the ideal level of attitude and energy for the genre. As well as getting a stellar review of their most recent single, "The Conflict Within" in Rawckus Magazine. In July-August 2018, the band opened for legendary Cinderella frontman, Tom Keifer to a sold out crowd at Innovation Amphitheater to an over-welmingly positive response and left with the crowd on their feet. They have also shared the stage with several national acts, including REHAB, Hallowpoint (Missouri) and Demon In Me (Cali). They are currently tracking their 2nd album with the incredible Led Belly Studios in Dawsonville, GA with engineer, Matt Washburn. Ledbelly is responsible for several releases from national acts, Mastadon, Artemis Pyledriver, Legion X and many more. The album will be produced by Billy Grey of Fozzy fame and mixed and mastered by Justin Davis of American Music out of Seattle, Washington. Justin is known for his amazing work with Lullwater's most recent album. Powering through 2020 they released "War Cry", a song about overcoming depression and ptsd during difficult times which was hosted on several hundred radio stations. Their upcoming single, "Speaking my mind" will be live June 11th, 2021 and will be the last single prior to their debut album release in October. https://www.ashestoomens.com/ This episode is proudly brought to you by: #Betterhelp : https://www.betterhelp.com/sipod for 10% off #Coldest Water Bottle: Use code "10DEREK" for 10% off https://thecoldestwater.com/ #LootCrate : http://loot.cr/3rWoAnw Code "Suckitpodcast" for 15% off BUY MERCH!!!!! #Merch Store: https://www.dckproductions.com/shop Follow me: https://www.instagram.com/suckitpodcast https://www.facebook.com/suckitpodcast https://www.twitter.com/suckit_podcast --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thedarksideofmusic/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thedarksideofmusic/support

Last week, the world lost one of the best, most innovative guitar players in history… the guy who created a movement, became part of the pop culture lexicon, and inspired (and continues to) generations of guitar players. The great Eddie Van Halen passed away October 6th at the age of 65 from cancer. So join Chris, and four of his guitar-playing friends who were all greatly inspired and influenced by Eddie – Trixter’s Steve Brown, who had a personal relationship with EVH; Steel Panther’s Satchel, an EVH disciple; Fozzy’s Billy Grey who picked up the guitar after hearing Eddie play; and Fozzy’s Rich Ward, who took from Eddie’s rhythm playing style. Together, they pay tribute – honoring Edward Van Halen’s playing prowess, his solos, his songwriting, his technical contributions to the guitar, and as you’ll hear, his incredibly friendly, warm human spirit – the inviting smile and humility that endured even when he wasn’t at his best. You’ll also hear EVH stories and memories from Charlie Benante, Mike Portnoy, Stryper’s Michael Sweet, AEW’s Frankie Kazarian, and Dave LaGreca from Busted Open Radio. And thanks to Steve Brown and Billy Grey for sharing some original EVH-inspired licks and music especially for this episode. RIP Eddie Van Halen. Rock & Roll is forever in your debt.

This episode features Billy Grey guitarist of Fozzy and Tattoo The Scars.
Before there was Fozzy, there was Method 54, Lethal Promise, Sleeze Patrol, Fatal Axe-dent, Disciples Of The Watch, and Scimitar. CJ, guitarists Rich Ward and Billy Grey, and drummer Frank Fontsere head back to highschool to share stories about their first bands, first live gigs, and first attempts at songwriting. You’ll hear how they learned their instruments, the first cover songs they attempted to play, the famous musicians and bands they emulated, and the path that eventually brought them all together!
We are joined by Fozzy guitarist Billy Grey to talk about their 2017 album 'Judas', the band's ever-increasing popularity, plus Billy's other projects both past and present. Scott vents steam on Axl Rose taking over Download Festival, and we also chat about DED's first ever show in Europe, which Scott got to witness. Songs played include killer cuts from the likes of Asking Alexandria, Avenged Sevenfold, Fozzy (of course), Soil and Fire From the Gods.
It’s Ozzy Osbourne’s “Diary Of A Madman” vs “Blizzard Of Ozz” on this edition of Classic Album Clash! And Fozzy guitarists Rich Ward and Billy Grey along with drummer Frank Fontsere, and special guest Merlin Alderslade, the editor of Metal Hammar magazine, join the debate over which album reigns supreme. They break them down track-by-track, share Ozzy stories and trivia in the process, discuss Randy Rhoads’ development and prowess as a guitarist, name favorite and not-so-favorite songs and solos, and cast a final vote for best album. Get in on the debate on twitter @TalkIsJericho!
Billy Grey is my guest for this bonus mini ep. Fozzy is playing a show here in Grand Rapids MI as part of their Judas Rising tour. Billy and I did a chat right before the band headed back out on the second leg of this tour. We go over how Billy got into Fozzy to the overwhelming success of the song "Judas" and the "Judas Effect" it has had for the band. We also get into how some may think this band has enjoyed instant success...after being a band for over 15 years. If the success of "Judas" will make people take them seriously, or still be known as the Chris Jericho's band and MUCH MUCH MORE. Short episode but lots of information contained within. We also have the answer to a question being asked on Moshpitnation's fb page that could help you win one of 2 pairs of tickets to see Fozzy at their stop here at The Intersection on March 29th.
