I tell the whole story about meeting and partying with them. 2. Shaun and I recap our story from Friday about lobbyist and legislators partying and "allegedly" doing body shots off of a waitress at a local, legendary restaurant. The reaction over the weekend makes me believe it's true, take a listen and you decide what you think. 3. MSNBC say that rural white voters are a bunch of racist and are the greatest threat to democracy, since Shaun is a democrat I wanted his reaction and opinion on this. It turned into a good 20 minutes conversation. 4. I have unearthed some video of Joe Biden giving the Democrat response to a State of the Union address from George H. Bush. If this Joe Biden were running today I'd vote for him, it's a complete 180 from his current platform and sounds like Donald Trump speaking.

He talked about touring with Zombie last year as kind of a "feeling out" to see what could happen with the band. He talked about all the places in the world he'd like to hit on this tour. He told me about playing some different songs on this tour, that they hadn't played before. As far as their cover of the Police song "King Of Pain", don't expect them to be doing that one any time soon. "It just did not sound good....it sounds wonky" He explained that whole thing about the tuning of the song. It was really interesting talking about a conversation he had with the late Vinnie Paul, about how big Pantera was even though they hadn't played in a very long time. Chad said there's all sorts of fans seeing Mudvayne for the first time. From very young kids to "old guys like us." There's a lot of music talk with Chad, although he says he doesn't listen to much new music, he said he has his staples. "I just don't go searching for new music." He mentioned how music takes him back many year like a "Sonic Fountain Of Youth". Great line! What made Pantera so good? He talked about how they wrote songs. "Those MFers played to the song." He spoke to writing with V.P. during his time in Hell Yeah. He talked to meeting one of his heroes, James Hetfield of Metallica. He went on and on about what a treasure James is, and a little secret he gave him to help his performance as far as singing goes. All and all, a great conversation with Chad. Loved talking to him, as always. -Meltdown-

He explained how they tour on a completely different circuit that is new to him. He recalled touring with Motley Crue in the mid-90s. "It was a tough tour for them" he said about the guys in Crue. He also shared some other tour horror stories. As far as playing with a guy like Rudy Sarzo? "It's surreal". He went into what it's like to play with such a rock legend. He admitted he was somewhat start struck, but now has become a friend. Johnny also tells me what Jizzy Pearl is like. I've never had the chance to meet him before, so I'm looking forward to it. Of course we had to talk a little hockey. He's a big hockey fan, so I had to ask him about his thoughts on the Stanley Cup playoffs. He also told me who he thinks the late Vinnie Paul would've been rooting for. He's in a new band called Eye Am. How did that start? What's going on with that project? Johnny fills us in on all things about that band too. Great to catch up with one of my favorite dudes! -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

Dem Vinyl Boyz are listening to some 90s rock in the form of "Vulgar Display of Power" by the band Pantera which had a multitude of hits through out the 90s. Pantera was a heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas in 1981. The band was composed of vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, drummer Vinnie Paul, and bassist Rex Brown. Over the course of their career, Pantera released several successful albums and established themselves as one of the most influential bands in the heavy metal genre. However, it was their 1992 album, "Vulgar Display of Power," that solidified their place in the heavy metal pantheon. The album is considered by many to be their magnum opus, showcasing the band's raw power, aggression, and technical prowess. It features classic tracks such as "Walk," "Mouth for War," and "This Love," all of which have become staples of heavy metal radio. "Vulgar Display of Power" marked a shift in Pantera's sound, moving away from their earlier glam metal influences and toward a heavier, more aggressive sound. The album's guitar riffs are some of the most memorable in heavy metal history, and Dimebag Darrell's virtuosic solos continue to inspire aspiring guitarists to this day. Unfortunately, Pantera's success was not without tragedy. In 2004, during a performance with his new band Damageplan, Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed by a fan who rushed the stage. The incident shocked the heavy metal community, and Darrell's death was felt deeply by his bandmates and fans around the world. Despite this tragedy, the legacy of Pantera and "Vulgar Display of Power" endures. The album remains a touchstone for heavy metal fans and musicians alike, and continues to influence new generations of heavy metal artists. The band's music continues to be celebrated for its raw power, intensity, and technical proficiency, and Dimebag Darrell's virtuosity on the guitar continues to be remembered as one of the greatest in heavy metal history. In conclusion, Pantera and "Vulgar Display of Power" remain a legendary presence in heavy metal music. Their influence on the genre cannot be overstated, and their legacy continues to inspire fans and musicians alike. While the tragic death of Dimebag Darrell was a devastating loss, his music and legacy continue to live on. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Far Beyond Driven - The Story of Jose Mangin & The Pantera Limo

Talk Is Jericho

Pantera brothers Vinnie Paul and Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott loved riding in limos so they got one of their own! Vinnie used it extensively after Dime's death, and when Vinnie Paul passed in 2018, the limo was given to longtime, diehard Pantera fan and SiriusXM Octane host, Jose Mangin! Jose explains how he found about the generous gift, what it took to get the limo from Texas to Southern California with almost no notice, and how he went about getting the limo fully restored! Jose spared no expense when it came to the restoration and added some amazing tributes to the Abbott brothers in the limo's interior along with a very cool salute to the fans who contributed to the GoFundMe to help raise money for the process. Jose walks us through the year-plus long journey to get the limo restored and running again, and shares the feedback he got from Dime's widow, Rita, and the rest of the Pantera family. Jose & Chris detail the adventures they each had in the limo with Vinnie Paul, and Jose reveals his plans for the limo's future and how YOU can experience it (and party in it) for yourself!
