By Sunday lunchtime we had taken over the whole area in front of our home. The old engine was out and new (secondhand) engine hanging suspended over the engine bay. Things had gone remarkably well so far, although the whole project was causing some concern on the estate. I took great pains to explain to close neighbours that this was really not my new job and the pioneering poles pointing skywards like some huge wigwam structure without its cover, well above the height of the house would soon be gone again, fingers crossed.

Who Killed Karen Bodine?

Karen Bodine never did stray far from home.Even after she was grown and had three children of her own, she wasn’t in a hurry to leave the community near Tumwater where she grew up, where she had lived with her parents and big brother, Greg. It was a tight-knit family that Karen and her kids could always count on.In the fall of 2006, Karen’s oldest was starting her senior year in high school and  her youngest was starting middle school.  She’d broken up with their father, who turned out to be more interested in partying than parenting, and had taken her little family back home, to live with her parents.  They were short on money, but never short on love.  Karen would take every opportunity to make her kids feel special, leaving little notes in their backpacks and filling their home with her laughter. Then, Karen met a new beau. She started staying at his apartment nearby. Her children stayed with their grandparents, but their bond with their mother remained strong. On one Friday in January, her daughter Karlee stopped by after school, as she often did. They chatted and shared a few laughs, before Karlee got up to leave.  Karen didn’t want her to go. She never did.  "Just five more minutes," she begged.  "Just five more minutes."  But, Karlee had places to go and so much on her teenage mind.  She’d see her mother again soon.  Karen wasn’t going anywhere. At least, that was the plan. That night, Karen and her boyfriend had a fight.  Not just an argument, but a knock-down-drag-out battle that ended with police at their front door and Karen moving out.  But, she didn’t go back home.  Maybe it was embarrassment over another failed relationship. Or maybe she just preferred the comfort of her friends.Karen spent the weekend looking for a place to land. By Sunday, she was out of options and found herself calling home, looking for help, trying to reach her parents or Karlee, her oldest.  But, the phones just kept ringing….That’s how Karen found herself wandering down a residential street in Lacey. It was cold and she didn’t have a warm coat. A neighbor noticed Karen and was worried about her, so they called police. An officer stopped to see how she was doing. Karen waived them off. She was fine, she said, just thinking… trying to clear her head. But the officer wouldn’t let it go. He couldn’t leave this young woman out in the cold as day was turning to night.  He convinced her to go to a women’s shelter where she could warm her bones until she decided what to do next.At least, that’s what could have happened. What might have happened. If only Karen had not been so persistent. If only the officer had not given up.Instead, Karen wandered into the night, never to be seen alive again. It was just hours later, early on Monday morning, when Karen’s body would be found naked and posed along a country road nearly 30 miles from her home town. What’s worse, news reports declared the body of a transient and suspected drug addict had been dumped and Karen’s murder quickly fell off the radar. It felt like nobody cared. Like nobody saw Karen for who she really was.But with a new investigator on the case and a new effort to rekindle public interest, could they finally answer that burning question: Who killed Karen Bodine? There is a $50,000 reward being offered by the family of Karen Bodine and ...

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. On Friday, President Trump tweeted that the Deep State at the Food and Drug Administration has been slow-rolling promising treatments for the Chinese Communist Party virus for political reasons. By Sunday, he was able to announce that the FDA had cleared one called “convalescent plasma” for emergency use. Good news! Better yet, the President secured the agreement of the FDA’s Commissioner that – if a treatment is safe and effective – those afflicted with the CCP virus have a “Right to Try” it.  Dr. Stephen Hahn’s agency knows that the safety and effectiveness of an even-more-promising treatment called oleandrin has been established to the point where it should be made available for widespread, lifesaving human trials and sold as a natural supplement. We have a right to try oleandrin and the FDA must clear the way for us to do so. Now. This is Frank Gaffney.

In this latest issue of my weekly podcast, we discuss the possibility of future inflation. There are already multiple warnings signs that inflation is coming. The US dollar continues to fall as industrial metals and agricultural prices rise. Gold is up 18% since early May. And since mid-May, M2 is up YoY 23%. We've never seen such rapid YoY growth in the money supply since we have data (that is, going back nearly to the Civil War). One possible exception came in 1944, at the peak of global war. IMO, if C19 gets milder and a generous stimulus passes, get ready for rising inflation. Granted, these are big if's. Economic indicators remain mixed. The ISM Manf PMI came in at 54.2 for July, showing substantial growth. The Markit Services PMI came in at 49.6 for July, marking six straight months of contraction. Michigan Consumer Sentiment fell from 78.1 in June to 72.5 in July. And US GDP QoQ came in at -9.5% for Q2. That was significantly better than Europe's GDP readings in Q1, though the Eurozone is currently growing faster than the US.Trump targets TikTok. Last Friday, President Trump announced TikTok (owned by the Chinese company ByteDance) would be banned in the US over national security concerns. By Sunday, Microsoft announced it was in talks to but the US part of the company. Trump has given the two companies until September 15 to make a deal. Apple increases production in India. Foxconn, who produces Apple's products, has moved production of the IPhone 11 out of China and into India. This is the first time an Apple flagship product will be made outside of China. Apple is trying to diversify its production in advance of further deterioration in US relations with China. Libyan civil war reaches a decisive moment. The Turkish backed Tripoli government is placing troops around the city of Sirte. Russian mercenaries, supporting the eastern government of General Haftar, currently hold the city and are constructing defenses. Egypt has declared that if Sirte falls to Tripoli, they will invade Libya to repel Turkish influence. Is war looming between Turkey and Egypt?Neither party may accept the results of the 2020 election. As the 2020 election looms, Trump has repeated goaded liberals by refusing to say whether he will "accept" the results of the fall election. But a new report from the Transition Integrity Project says that the left may similarly reject the election results if Trump wins. With mail-in voting, results could take weeks to determine, and there is a significant chance that whoever looses will claim foul play. The only earlier parallel, suggests the report, may be the brokered election of 1876--after which the Democrats agreed to allow the Republican Rutherford B. Hayes to assume office only in return for putting an end to Reconstruction.**************The content featured here is a small part of Hedgeye’s Demography Unplugged, a game-changing market intelligence product brought to you by historian, demographer and best-selling author Neil Howe. The Burger Chef murders occurred on the night of Friday November 17th, 1978. Four teenage employees went missing in what was initially thought to be a petty theft of cash. By Sunday their bodies had been discovered and police launched what would prove to be one of the more baffling crimes in the history of the state of Indiana.. While investigators believe they have identified some or all of the perpetrators, the case remains unsolved given the lack of physical evidence and sheer volume of conspiracy theories that continue to haunt this tragic case. Internet Business Mastery | Escape the 9-to-5. Make More Money. Start an Freedom Business, Now!

I woke up this morning excited and out of my mind with joy. I couldn't wait to get up and write to you. I have a deep affinity for entrepreneurs and people that have the desire to be entrepreneurs. That's you or you wouldn't be seeing these words... Anyways, waking up like this wasn't always so joyous. Back in 2003, right before I started my entrepreneurial journey, I would wake up on a Sunday morning and for a few moments, I'd feel, at best, relief. Relief that it was Sunday and that I didn't have to go to work. Then I'd think of going back to work on Monday and dread would start to fill my mind. I'd do all I could to push the feeling of dread out of my mind. By Sunday night I'd have full on "Sunday Evening Dread". Most of my "days off" would be fighting off the feeling of dread or fully encased in it. That happened for YEARS. I heard a quote that escalated my dread to exasperation. This quote and my 3 "fake" heart attacks shocked me awake. Here it is: "Most people are just waiting to die" … Let that sink in. I don't remember who originally said the quote, but after I heard it I was dazed for weeks. I came out of that daze with one thought: FUCK THAT! I made the choice. I wasn't going to spend the rest of my life just "waiting to die"! I didn't know how, but I made the choice anyways. That choice lead me from playing by the status quo and feelings of being bored, annoyed, financially enslaved, unhappy, scared, and afraid of failure... To where I am now, nearly an eight figure business, high level of freedom, control over daily life, ability to print money on demand, surrounded by hand picked, high-level people, and excited to wake up every day to talk to people I respect and am on a mission to help. My journey started with a choice and small, simple steps. You can make the choice and take a small simple step right now. It seems like Almost Yesterday that the last of the unplanned and unscheduled steamboat races occurred on the Mississippi. On the evening of September 5, 1923, the steam boat, The Capitol, went out of Cape on a moonlight excursion. The Bald Eagle, one of the oldest river boats, was preparing for a late night departure for St. Louis. At approximately 10:00 P.M., the Bald Eagle pulled out of Cape and headed north. About a mile up river the two ships passed – passengers shouting, and the captains laying heavy on the whistles. Near midnight the Bald Eagle encountered thick fog and tied up for the night on the Illinois shore. By Sunday morning, September 6, the fog lifted, a bright sun shone, and the Capitol moved past the Bald Eagle. Someone shouted, “Get up, we’re having a race,” and soon crew and passengers were on deck. The captain screamed “More power! More steam!” And smoke poured, bells rang, steam hissed, people yelled, some cried, and everyone was covered with soot. The destination

[13:03] Liver Stress Maryann says: First, thank you and Nikki for all you have done and sacrificed to spread the message of clean eating and sustainability. Do you know of or have your read any research on possible liver stress associated with consuming the amounts of protein recommended in the keto gains calculator for a 57 year old female athlete?  I will elaborate if you need more background information. Sincerely, Listener #7 3. [16:38] Protein needs Bodybuilding Keto - Muscle Gain James says: For an intermediate to advanced ketogenic bodybuilder/powerlifter looking to maintain muscle mass during a cut; what would be your initial recommendation on protein consumption? Same question for building muscle. Also: much research seems to have been done on fat loss. Are there any studies showing the performance of the ketogenic diet when t comes to muscle gain versus a higher carb approach? Maybe less muscle gain but fat free? 4. [21:33] Keto and true HIIT Greg says: Hi, I eat a Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD) and do Crossfit.  I primarily consume more significant amounts of carbohydrates (max 20g for 195lb male) before doing classic CrossFit workouts where HIIT is part of the workout.  I do this because: 1.  I perform better than without the carbs. 2. I feel and recover better afterwards. 3.  I am afraid of my body going catabolic because it can't get energy fast enough during workouts. A lot of what I've read about Keto and exercise deals with endurance workout and weightlifting.  What is the best approach specifically for Keto and HIIT for optimizing performance and/or safety (avoid going catabolic)? Thank you! Greg 5. [27:12] A question about having carb withdrawal symptoms despite very high blood ketones. Rob says: Hi there, I was wondering if you could shed some light on my usual response to being in ketosis. I've been on a very strict ketogenic diet for about 6 months now. I've tested my blood ketones hundreds of times using an Abbot Freestyle meter and I'm almost always in the 1mmol to 3mmol range. I have experienced some of the commonly talked about keto symptoms such as occasional feelings of euphoria, appetite suppression (sometimes to the point of nausea if I've consumed a lot of fat), trouble sleeping due to that buzzing ketosis feeling in the body some speak of. The trouble is I don't seem to do well when my ketones are derived from my own body fat, or at least it appears that way. I say this because I still often feel classic "carb-starved" feelings if I haven't eaten (irritable, trouble concentrating, etc). Eating lunch solves that, but this seems strange given that my ketones could still be at 3 yet I experience those symptoms. Perhaps those very few carbs in the lunch are what my body wants or perhaps my body prefers ketones from other sources than my own body fat. What has pushed me to a breaking point is a water fast I attempted this weekend. I began my fast after lunch on Friday (extremely low carb high fat) and during the fast felt exactly the same as I have on any fast I've ever done pre-keto. It was really difficult. I was irritable, had headaches, trouble concentrating the exact same feeling as a carb withdrawal. I was testing my ketones frequently in the days leading up to the fast so it should have been a breeze, in theory. And yes, I took plenty of sodium, potassium and magnesium - it doesn't change it at all. To thicken the plot further, I tested my ketones regularly throughout the whole fast. On Friday night they were about 3mmol and by Saturday lunchtime they were up around 4. By Sunday lunchtime they were up at 5-6 mmol yet I still felt like I was in serious carb withdrawal! Is it possible that ketosis is just not for me? I've heard Dom D'agostino mention that a minority of people don't thrive in ketosis. Any help would be appreciated! Rob 6. [35:30] Keto and Picking a Primary Care Doctor Kilson says: Hey guys! Huge fan of the show! I just read through "Wired to Eat" and really enjoyed it. I think it is a really good "catalyst" for getting started in the right foot. I've been messing around with Keto for a while now. Almost 3 years ago I was walking around at 357lbs and found out about keto, started boxing and lifting and made it down to as low as 250lbs! After some injuries and some life struggles I flew back up too 300lbs. For the last few months I'm back on the grind and trying to make it back down to a weight I feel good at. Big part is thanks to podcast like yours! So thank you very much! Oh right!... The question... I haven't gotten a physical or seen a doctor in a while now. Maybe close to two years. I'm having some trouble picking a Primary Care Provider. What are some things you look for in a Doc? Do you use some sort of platform to find a doctor who is in the know about stuff like Paleo and keto? I really want to get on top of this and find a doctor. Im from New York which is flooded with doctors but not sure who to go with. Any suggestions on how to narrow the choices? THANKS! Notes: SteadyMD.com http://paleophysiciansnetwork.com/

Thank you   Mark, you called me out for being "competitive" and I am. Challenge accepted! Like I told you, we don't have "Church Micros" here in the states. What we have are "Spirit Quest" caches in cemeteries. In fact, of my 5700 finds I had found only two with the word "church" in the title. I did a quick search and found that there are exactly six caches containing the word "church" within a 30-mile radius of my house. I knew the chances were slim, but I wasn't about to let that stop me from trying. One of the caches had a string of DNFs and was clearly missing, so that one was dropped from my list right away.   I headed out Sunday afternoon, in 15*F temps and getting over a bad cold, to find the other 5. The first cache I went to was Church Road Park (GCX1W0), which was about a half an hour from my house. The park was not surprisingly abandoned, and I made the relatively easy trek to GZ where I stood scratching my head. It's very possible that the snow and frozen ground caused me to search the wrong part of the right host, but it's also a possibility that the host has been altered since the cache was last found. Or it's even more possible that I was searching the wrong host altogether, although I did expand my search by up to 50 feet in all directions. DNF. Bummer. I remembered that I had a backup "church" cache about 50 miles in the other direction that was near where I pick up my son from his dad's house, so there was still a chance of finding five.    I moved on to the second cache, Churchill Island (GC1N3CT). The walk to GZ was quiet and peaceful. I stopped for a few pictures along the way. I got to GZ and searched for a good half an hour, digging through the foot of snow on the ground with a stick, poking along in the hopes that I would stumble across the container. Unfortunately the snow made this one much too difficult, and the GPS bounce didn't help matters. Even a quick PAF didn't help. So I had to walk away without a smiley. Strike two. By this time I was cold and frustrated. But I am not a quitter.   I wasn't far from the third cache, Churchville Cemetery "Illinois Spirit Quest" (GC2V1M1), so I headed over. It's a multi placed by my friend, Dutchlandian, from Holland. (Hi Ans!) I arrived at the posted coords and thought there was no way I'd be able to read the headstone with all of the snow. Luckily though I was able to brush away the top few inches, which was enough to read all of the inscriptions. I did some quick calculations and was off to the final. Finally! I am so glad this one is hidden where and how it is, so that I could get at least one smiley today!    I was feeling a little more optimistic now, and moved on to Who Has a "Church Key" (GC29ZHV). The closest parking was about 500 feet away and I had to walk along a busy road to get to GZ. I wasn't sure what to expect here, given the large percentage of DNFs and the fact that the description says it's not winter friendly. I was happy to find that the "rock" (a Rolling Rock bottle cap) that the cache is under according to the hint was in full view! Somehow there was no snow on the ground in only this one small area. I seemed to be on a roll. But then ... I tried to pick up the cache. It wouldn't budge. I found a stick and tried to pry it up. It started to move a little, so I wedged my finger between it and the ground and pulled. Something came loose all right, but it was just the bottle cap, and the cache itself was still stuck in the frozen ground. The wire attaching the cap to the cache pulled right through the cap. Oh no! I broke the cache! (An apology email was sent to the C.O.) I tried and tried, but the ground was just too frozen and I could not get the container unstuck. Despite finding the cache, I could not put my signature on the log so no smiley here for me.   So at only one find out of four attempts, most people would probably just go home. Not me though. I was only a mile or so from the last cache, Anybody Got a Church Key? (GC5AF83), and had no choice but to finish my list. This one is on private property (with permission of course), around the back side of a small local brewery, Church Street Brewing Company. Even though it was Sunday and there was no one around, I still felt a bit uneasy walking around the building. I was very happy that this was a quick and easy find! Retrieval and replacement on the other hand, not so easy being only 5 feet tall. But I got the job done.    Final stats for the day: 4 hours, 70 miles, 5 attempts, 2 finds. February Challenge = DNF.   Thanks for the fun adventure! This week's episode has been sponsored by: This week, we are joined by Tika (host of Gives Good Knit) and Andrew. Events: (00:58) Stitches West meetup- Saturday, February 28th from 2-4 PM in the Purlescence Yarns booth. If you haven't bought your market passes yet, go to the Knitting Universe Website, and the online promo code (for $2 off admission) is: MPCW. Come meet us and get some sweet swag! On the Needles: (2:51) Gigi finished her second blue Regia Saturn sock. She has also found another two balls of duplicate Regia in her stash. She has finished her pair of vanilla Brown Eyed Girl handspun socks. She has finished a dark red stocking cap (out of Cascade 220 Superwash). Jasmin has started weaving in her own ends, inspired by Tika duplicate stitching in her ends. Jasmin, after a lack of knitting mojo on Monday, started her Twist in Apple Green Malabrigo worsted on Tuesday. By Sunday, the body was done and blocked. Jasmin is obsessed with this sweater. Also, the entire sweater will be knit in 4 skeins. Jasmin talks about her WIP storage/"organization"/green room system. Jasmin's changes to Twist: - The pattern is written to knit the body in 3 pieces, Jasmin knit it in one piece. - The pattern is written to knit the sleeves flat; Jasmin knit them in the round. - The pattern calls for US 6/7 needles; Jasmin is knitting them on US 5/6. Jasmin waxes poetic about Twist, and wanders around hollering "My kingdom for a bag of Cadmium!" (Malabrigo) Tika's Coraline gloves make Lime and Violet's Daily Chum AND Neil Gaiman's blog! Jasmin talks about Valentine's Day. Andrew bought her a pair of yarn ball earrings and a matching pendant from Rosemary Hill. He also found the perfect buttons for Jasmin's Twist cardigan. Gigi talks about the Mini Mochi sock, and noticed that knitting it center-pull untwists the yarn. Mother Knows Best: (26:45) Stitches West tips, part III, courtesy of Andrew. Andrew's theory of yarn quality: when buying a yarn for the first time, buy one skein (or one project's worth) in order to determine knots per skein, colorfastness, washability, etc.  He also talks about the importance of swatching right away. (If you hate swatching, knit an Elizabeth Zimmermann Swatch Cap!) Also, swatches can be saved for future blanket projects. Alternatively, you could use them as decor in a curio coffee table. When Knitting Attacks: (39:11) Tika and Bree are doing a virtual KAL. Tika forgot to mark where on the chart she was, rips out, and starts over. Jasmin attempts to be smarter than the Twist pattern. She discovers that she CAN follow directions! Tika suggests using a highlighter to highlight the "AT THE SAME TIME" in the patterns. Reviews: (48:08) SWTC Tofutsies sock yarn. Jasmin doesn't like it because she finds it splitty, Tika does like it, but isn't sure yet if she would purchase more.
