    718 | [AWKWARD…] “What do you do for a living?”

    Normally, when you get asked this obvious and persistent question it's pretty easy to answer. What do you do for a living? I'm a lawyer. I'm chief sandwich maker. I'm a professor. I'm President of the United States. The answer’s simple for most people. When I first started this journey to building a successful freedom business, I didn't know what to say. The answer was always slightly awkward. Since, "What do you do for a living?", is such a constantly used question I fumbled around for years with the answer. Basically, I was selling information, but most people don't understand that that is a thing. "I sell stuff online." Back in 2004, this answer seemed to lead to people thinking I was somehow into porn or I was doing spam. "I have an eBay business." This answer seemed to make people think I was going to yard sales, buying other peoples used junk, and selling it on eBay. "I'm a cubicle escape artist." This one would get a grin, but mostly I'd see the thought, "Fine, don't tell me..." Once Pat Flynn, my most visibly successful student, became a #1 bestseller and topped the podcasting charts, I'd say, "I make Pat Flynns." This one would get blank stares from people that didn't know him and surprised nods of approval from those that did. Now, I say what makes me happy. I realized that most people ask this question for something to say and really it's for me to declare my identity to others. My answer now: "I provide knowledge for potential winners to become successful winners." I'm told I'm a bit of an ass for saying it the way I say it, but most people just want the answer to easily categorize you. Since that is the case, I want them to either have no idea how to categorize me or think I'm a bit of an arrogant ass or, if they are a winner, they will ask me more about the specifics of what I do. When I taught Pat Flynn, it was quite clear to me he was already a winner (based on his actions and mindset) and just needed the direction and some specifics to become a successful winner. Winners are going to be successful, they just need some direction. Losers go for "free" and "how quickly can I be a millionaire?" and "Ooooo, let's get on this list, then this list, then this list, and on and on."     It’s time to pull another email out of the ol’ email bag. I get energy hearing excuses and tearing them to shreds... As always, my comments will follow. “Honestly, I am a waiter... and I don't mean that I serve tables, but that I'm waiting for that "right" feeling. I have tons of skills, but most of my energy is split between my daily employment which takes advantage of those skills and spending time with my family. I have a dream to one day be working for myself on projects I'm passionate about that can help other people, but when I start to plan out the process, I'm overwhelmed or procrastinate. I've owned tons of domains. I have the technical expertise to pull off a good business online... Yet, I'm still living pay to pay working for companies that don't really mentor and guide me to that next level.” ~David P --I was recently reading a book about the U.S Navy Seal team. If somehow you don’t know what they are, they are an elite military unit and they have one of the most grueling, mind and body shredding training there is. Most of the people that try out don’t make it past the initial training. The book is written by one of these elite Navy Seals. One of the things he talked about was the difference between regular people and people who pass the Seal training and go on to become one of this elite fighting force. He said that most people are run by their feelings. They have a feeling, that feeling dictates their behavior and their behaviors are what build their identity. So, David, in your case you are waiting for a feeling to push you to action, so you can take the actions (behavior) needed to become a successful freedom business owner. The Seal said that successful people do it just the opposite. He said the guys that successfully finish the toughest, grueling Seal training ACT like a Navy Seal from the beginning. They take on the identity of a Seal FIRST. They know that ALL the Navy Seals have gone through and FINISHED the exact training they are about to go through, so they decide they are going to finish it before they start, no matter what. They take on the identity FIRST. They decide to be U.S. Navy Seals before they go through the training that is designed to weed out the humans not fit to be Seals. That identity is what decides their behaviors. When they don’t want to or think they can’t do something, the Navy Seal identity they took on says they will. A Navy Seal passes the training no matter what, so they take the actions that lead them to feel like a Seal. This is the mindset you need to take David.     As I mentioned recently, I sold my home and gentleman's farm. What triggered me to sell my "dream" home? Lifestyle design. I always wanted to try the gentleman's farm, but with a big modern home. I did, done. I also wanted to pair down Internet Business Mastery and instead of having 10 huge funnels going and a bunch of employees and a bunch of tasks to do constantly, I pared it down to an email a day and ONE full-time employee.     A few episodes ago I told you about the top level, secret mastermind group I made my way into with the guys that make the *real* money online.     My life changed the day I watched the movie, the Matrix. I saw it in the theater back in 1999. In fact, I watched it twice in one day and another 3 times in the theater. It seemed like they made the movie for me. No really, I had the creepy feeling that the filmmakers were making movie just for me and where I was in my life. It was eerie. Generally, it's about a bored, office dweller at the point of nihilism that is searching for the truth about life. Boy, does he get it. His world is rocked. It ends up being 1000 bigger than he ever imagined. I was a bored, office dweller too. Like Neo, in the movie, I felt there was more. I felt I was stuck. Life wasn't a movie, it was life, but I wanted something big. It took my almost 5 years from seeing the movie to escape the Matrix myself (triggered by a book, more on that another time,) and now I'm offering you the chance.     In my reading time yesterday I came across a quote I want to share with you. I committed knowing there was going to be some high prices to pay. In just over a week, "providence moved" and things I thought would be nearly financially fatal shifted and went in the other direction. 2 weeks after I committed I've already had, as the quote suggested, unforeseen events, meetings and material assistance which I couldn't have dreamed would come my way.     That was the last thing my last boss ever said to me just over 13 years ago. I don't know if he meant to be cliche, it was Hollywood, but he sure was. I was excited to go on the adventure of learning how to start a business and the moment did feel a bit like a movie, but I couldn't believe he said it. "You'll never work in this town again!" I had just quit so I could go start a business. I felt like I couldn't go any further unless I went on this quest. You didn't quit the job you worked that hard to get. I was one of the youngest guys to get THAT job at Warner Brothers movie studio and I can't imagine anyone ever quit that highly coveted job before. I did. I had to. My boss was astonished when I said I quit. He just stood there staring at me. His brow furrowed and he slowly started shaking his head as if to say, you can't do this. Then he blurted it out. "You'll never work in this town again!" Thus ending the 'working for the man' era of my life. He was right, though, I have never worked in Hollywood since. What I have done is dedicate my life to helping others and I was able to make a 7 figure business doing it.     I’ve been seeing an annoying trend recently. To be different and “edgy”, I see a lot of people saying that finding your purpose and building a business around it is NOT the way to do it. They say that you should simply find a good market and that is really the only thing to think about. I see a LOT of people saying this now like it’s the new “cool” thing to say. I think that’s stupid. Let’s see what a world famous psychologist that created the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has to say about the subject after spending his entire career on the study: “The most beautiful fate, the most wonderful good fortune that can happen to any human being, is to be paid for doing that which he passionately loves to do.” ~Abraham Maslow I think I’ll stick to a world-renowned expert rather than an edgy newcomers trying to get attention by being contrarian. My 13+ years of experience proves out Maslow’s quote as well. What I think happens, other than just trying to get attention is that these edgy newcomers can’t figure out how to find their purpose so they can’t be passionate about. So, to cover up their failings, they change the rules. Don’t buy into, it’s crap.     710 | Another dose of tough love…

    A couple weeks ago I asked a question. “What the hell is holding you back?” I got a LOT of responses. Here is one, but it is the big daddy of responses. It’s one that I think everyone thinks, no matter what other issues they might have. Here is the response and my tough love comment after: “Im afraid of failing and losing money.” ~Cartlon --Here comes my one two punch, ready? 1- There are only two ways to fail. Quitting and not starting. By not starting, you ARE failing. You shouldn’t be afraid of failing in the future, you already are failing RIGHT NOW by not putting your all into starting a freedom business. If you start and decide you are going to keep going UNTIL you succeed, you will never fail. Succeed or die, that is what I decided when I got started. I knew there would be massive challenges and that I wouldn’t get the results I want most of the time, but the only way to fail is to quit… once you get started. 2- Here is the next hard truth, you are already losing money. Had you started when you realized you had the desire to have a freedom business, you’d very likely be making money already. Your hesitance is what you should be fearing. It’s ruining everything. It’s making you fail AND lose money, every single day you don’t go after your dream. It’s no joke. You are already living the nightmare of failing and losing money, my friend. There is one more hard truth for you. 3- You are also completely letting down the audience you could be creating value for RIGHT NOW. Your audience is out there right now, waiting for you to help solve their issue and you are failing at that too. Get your ass in gear. You wouldn’t have the desire to create a freedom business that helps you have the lifestyle you dream about and help your chosen audience if you didn’t have the ability to make it happen. I’ve talked about before, most people don’t even have the desire to create a freedom business. You do! Get your ass in gear and stop failing by committing to succeed or die.     709 | Do you have a fake life?

    About 15 years ago, while sitting in my cubicle office, I realized something horrifying. I realized I had fallen into a trap. I was bored and unhappy with most of the day. This was not supposed to be my life. I'd drive 45 minutes to a job that was only 13 miles away from my house. I'd sit in my cubicle office on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, bored. The day was going to be long and just like the last. After about 10 or more hours I'd drive home, it'd take about an hour to get through those 13 miles to get home. L.A. traffic, ya know... I might make it home in time to kiss my young daughters good-night, if traffic wasn't too bad, or they'd be asleep and I didn't even get to see them that day. Then on to the next day... This day would be like all the rest, except my wife and kids would be at Disneyland with my visiting family. My kids were experiencing something they still remember to this day, the first time they went to Disneyland as kids. I remember it too, sitting in my office, since I realized I was living someone else's life. It certainly wasn't my life. When I graduated high school, with the entire world as a possibility, I wasn't hoping that I could spend most of my day, everyday, in a boring job. Missing my kids growing up. Wondering what fun they were up to while I inched towards death being about as fulfilled with life as a rock. I couldn't take it anymore. I decided to refuse to live that fake life.     708 | Immortality is right around the corner, you better be prepared.

    This morning I watched a video about how scientists now have a device that can keep a heart beating perfectly FOREVER! Wa-What? I read about stuff like this everyday. I'm totally a futurist tech junkie. I actually use my personal Facebook feed to see everything I can about biomed, the singularity, transhumanism, AI, robotics, anti-aging, nanotech, biohacking, and more. Because of this guilty pleasure, I got some really crazy looks from a bunch of fellow business owners in the Dan Sullivan Strategic Coaching group I was in. The first task we had in the group was to write down the age we expected to die. Sound morbid? I liked it! After we wrote the age, we all had to say the age out loud one at a time, for all to hear. 78. 84. 87. 152. That last one got a chuckle from the room and the coach stopped everyone and asked me... “Why 152?” I answered, “Because that's about double what the 'normal' death rate is now.” I went on to back my crazy number by talking about a handful of scientific breakthroughs that already exist now. Some of the smartest people in these fields say that a doubling of our life expectancy will be possible in our lifetime. These same scientists and PHD's have a united goal: Live long enough to live forever. BOOM. Science fiction? Maybe not. I choose to believe it anyways. Pick the delusion that works, as Scott Adams says. So what does this have to do with having a freedom business? Great question. Here goes… Choosing to start your freedom business now is more important than ever. We already know that life expectancy is going up, maybe not to 152 (yet), but people are already living longer. This means that you'll have more time to hate that soul-sucking job you have far longer than age 65. This is one of the reasons that I decided to fight the fear of failure and just go for it 13 years ago. I couldn't imagine another 30-50-75+ more years of trudging through traffic to get to a job I hated so some idiot could dictate what I do and how to act for 8-12 hours a day. I wanted freedom the day I started my entrepreneurial journey and I'll fight to gain more freedom and give more value in order to keep the freedom I already have.     I have recently hit just over 100 emails written since I started writing daily emails for Internet Business Mastery. Recently a friend of mine asked me about these daily emails. She asked, "Is it hard coming up with what to write every single day?" At the time I said, "No, not at all." But this morning it happened. I woke up a few minutes ago, excited to write to you but no subject came to mind. I was actually a bit shocked. Usually I have 2-3 things I could write and I have to just choose one and make a note of the others for days like this. I have a huge mindmap of things to write about, so I went to that and nothing stood out as something I wanted to talk about. I sat there a moment and thought... What advice would I give to someone that feels stuck? I'd normally say, just start. Take action. Even if it doesn't seem like much, do something. So I did, I wrote about having hit over 100 emails.     706 | The most powerful word in business…

    When I had decided absolutely to start a freedom business a strange thing happened. I learned about the Value Cycle, (entire video discussing what it is and how to use it is in the Freedom Club), and it lit my mind on fire! I went from having NO ideas on what niche to go into or products or anything specific to 1000's of ideas. It's like the act of deciding I was going to do it FOR SURE turned on something in me. At first, I really liked it. I was a business idea generator. 1000's of business ideas. 1000's of different avatars I wanted to help. 1000's product idea's I had so many business ideas it was hard to sleep. It actually became a bit of a burden. I didn't know which idea I should focus my time on. At first, I decided to pick about 5 businesses and give them all a shot, which I did. It was chaos. Couple 5 businesses with FOMO (fear of missing out) on all the shiny and new techniques the big-wig goo roos were tempting me with so they could make more dollars and I was making very little progress in ANY of my business. This actually went on for years until I ended up in a very special local mastermind group. There was only 5 of us and we'd meet once, sometimes twice a month. Every time we'd meet we'd all get a turn chatting about our businesses, what worked, what didn't work, and what we needed help on. There were some big hitters in the group, but one specifically taught me a very important lesson. We'll call him "Mike". Mike had a big business. Mike was making about 1 million dollars a month, no joke. Mike didn't say too much, but when he did it was usually life altering. One time, I was blathering on about several problems I was having in several of my businesses. I realized that the Mike didn't really say anything after I blathered on and on and I made a mental note to talk to in after, which I did. I asked him what he thought about my general issues with business and if he had any advice. He said my main problem was that I couldn't say the most magic and important word in business… NO. He said I’d make as much money as he does from saying no to everything except what will help his ONE audience the most and that makes him the most money. That's it. One business, one issue. That changed everything for me. I started learning to say no. One of the 5 business I had was Internet Business Mastery and it was a "whenever we get around to it" business. I talked to my business partner, Jason, and we decided to say no to everything else and just focus. That one act changed our future. We doubled our profits each year for the next 4 years (and had nice steady growth for years after) all by saying NO to everything but what would help our audience most. No. No. NO. No really comes down to focus, learning about the Value Cycle, and picking one audience to help. Building a business around that is what changed everything for me.     I'm reading a fantastic book again. It's called "Making Hope Happen" by Shane Lopez. One of the main points of this book is that you have to design your future before you can set and achieve goals. Shane calls this Futurecasting. This is such an important idea I added it into the first course in the Freedom Club. Most people miss the specifics of how to do this when they make their goals. Usually, they just pick a goal. Then 6 months later they realize they didn't do anything substantial towards getting the goal. I searched for this book because I found that I was getting only about a 10% success rate on my goals. I couldn't figure out why. I did all the thing you're supposed to do, be specific, set a date, backwards plan, etc. Even after doing it all "right" for so many years, still only about a 10% success rate. That is until I learned about futurecasting. Because of it, I was able to double my business income 5 years in a row, and that is just success in the business arena. I was able to do similar things in other parts of my life. I started using it with my coaching students and saw massive results. That is when I decided to mix it into my cornerstone, starter course, the Freedom Formula.     704 | 4 things you should really fear!

    Recently I talked about what seems to be the #1 fear of most people that desire to start a freedom business. Do you remember what it is? If you haven’t heard that episode yet, but you're like most people you just have to look inside for one second for the answer... Most people fear failure. What's the #1 thing they do so they don't have to feel like a failure? They don't go after their dreams and desires! They believe that they cannot fail if they don't try. (Of course not even trying leads to failure 100% of the time...) Getting over that fear is one of the steps to success. Failure is PART of success, so to fear it is to fear success too. I read that most big successes you’ve heard about failed a bunch of times before they succeeded so I welcomed failure and ran towards it. Remember, I said I mistakenly started a bunch of businesses so that many could fail and I could find the one that would worked as soon as possible. I wanted to fail as many times as needed until I got to success. It doesn't have to be that way, I just didn't have someone showing the exact steps to start a business or how to get my mindset right, but at least I started... To help you stop focusing on the fear of failure, I'm going to list some things you should be afraid of. 1- Aging. As you may know, I'm closely watching the anti-aging/transhumanist science and I plan on living to at least 152. Why did I get into that? I want as much life as possible and aging is a bitch. Did you know that as you age you start to lose the hormones that drive your ambition to take action? Losing your drive is terrifying to me and it should be to you too. 2- Scarcity Mentality Believing that the things you want in life are scarce is a major cause of unhappiness in a lot of people. One way to get over that is to create a freedom business where you give your all for an audience you choose. Learning about the Value Cycle (In the Freedom Club) and taking part in it to help others can really assist you get over the limiting scarcity mentality. 3- Running out of time This kinda connects to the aging fear you should have, but overall it's just running out of time to finally go after the things you desire, then living your final days with anger and regret. Ugh, what a shit life that would be, which leads too: 4- Living a crappy life I read yesterday that 88% of people are doing jobs they don't want to do. 88%!!! Who would ever choose that? 88% of people do! I am viciously afraid of living a crappy life and I do a lot of things to make sure I don't. I know you at least don't want to live a crappy life anymore or you wouldn't be listening to this podcast. Be afraid of CRAPPY! So, there are 4 things you should be afraid of instead of failure.     This morning I was going through my notes on a book I really enjoy and I found a quote I want to share with you. It’s one of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard goes something like this: "If you want success, figure out the price, then pay it. It sounds trivial and obvious, but if you unpack the idea it has extraordinary power." ~Scott Adams, How to fail at almost everything and still win big. I'm not so sure it seems obvious now days, as I see so many people trying to avoid the price (responsibility). They want the outcome without the price, (remember a few episodes ago I talked about how my family and friends started believing in my freedom business once I started showing major signs of success, then they all wanted my outcome, but didn't want to pay the price of really starting a freedom business?) You can see this now with the heavy focus on information being FREE. Everything has to be free. "Want to know about starting a business online? It's all on the internet for free just go find all the free info about it and you can start a business just reading a couple blogs and listening to a couple podcasts." This is the FREE trap. The GooRoos know it's easy to make people believe this and string them along with "free" courses and "free" advice, but it's designed NOT to be enough info to work, making you frustrated. When they finally offer you the paid course that actually might have the information you need, you are so frustrated you'll either quit trying or buy their overpriced course just to get out the the FREE trap. They create the problem and solution. What's worse, they dole it out piece by piece every step of the way so you end up paying a fortune. The FREE trap is extremely expensive. Don't fall for it. Know the price and be willing to pay it. Here’s a success system and real price. 1-You must take small steps each day towards creating your business. 2-You must find a mentor and/or course that shows you the way and pay for it. 3-You must find and give your all to helping a specific audience. 4-You must create amazing value for them. 5-You must keep going even when it seems hard.     Recently I've gathered a handful of email replies to the podcast episodes I've shot out into the world. Many prompted a deep smirk, so I'll share them with you. My switching to a daily podcast and email model has had a polarizing effect. It's fascinating to think that everyone is seeing the same emails, and hearing the same podcast episodes, but the response is so different. It's like a theater full of people who are looking at the same screen watching the same movie. Yet, one group is seeing an epic, adventure and some, seeing the exact same movie, are having the hallucination of seeing a horror movie. Here's a couple of reply emails from the horror hallucination crowd: "D*ck toned email...bye bye." ~Sharon B. "I don't know who you are but you are very rude. What a way to drum up business and get people to part with their money? Seriously I'm sure you're a decent guy but the tone of your emails were offensive and you'll turn people away." ~Alison P. Now, here's those smart enough to see the intended epic, adventure: "THIS is what I need, Jeremy. Thanks!" ~Mark A. "That was a refreshing yet harsh newsletter. ;) I love you and your work…" ~Leanne P. "Inspiring story. Thank you." ~Chad S. Again, these people are looking at the same emails. Not to worry, this is exactly what I was shooting for. This is why I said I smirked. I’m speaking to the people who want the power that comes with freedom. I'm talking about being in control of your financial success. I'm speaking to those that see the epic, adventure movie. I'm on a mission. My mission isn't to coddle and stroke peoples feelies. That's what indoctrinated them with a loser and whiner mindset. They have to get over that if they ever want the success they desire. My mission is freedom for all that are willing to **deserve** it. To deserve it one has to stop trying to manipulate others by being offended all the time and instead be willing to take the small steps each day that lead to success.     I get asked a lot of questions about business Wanna know what the most requested question I get is about? Accountability. People tell me that they want someone to make them do it. I just got another one of these questions this morning and I haven't responded to them, because I thought I might be TOO harsh and I really needed to give myself time to calm down about it. The email said they would join the Freedom Club if I would personally hold their hand and make sure they did the work everyday. Really?! I'm finally ready to answer this accountability issue.     I quit my job once and for all on October 15, 2004, 13 years ago this month. It was a six figure job with really good health insurance and all the trimmings, a job I could have kept for life. My wife (now ex-wife) and I moved from Los Angeles back to Salt Lake City, Utah because the cost of living was about 1/6th the price and our families were there. A couple months later, at a christmas party put on by my X's family, her sister was grilling me on why were were back. "Soooo... You quit your job and moved back to Salt Lake..." She said, it was more of a statement than a question. I answered anyway. "Yep." I said. "Didn't it take you like 12 years to get your "dream" job?" She used her fingers to make quote motions when she said the word dream. She had heard her sister talk about how hard I had worked for a job I had considered my dream job. "Ya." I said. "And you just quit...gave it all up?" She said with obvious confusion mixed with disgust. "Ya." I said. "Do you have another job?" She said. "No, I'm going to figure out how to start a business, so I don't have to work a boring ass job ever again." I said. "Have you ever started a business before?" She pressed. "Nope, I'm going to figure it out." I said. She stared at me a few moments, brow furrowed. "You're weird..." She exclaimed and that was that. I don't think she ever talked to me again before I got divorced from her sister. Some people just don't get it. But you do. Know how I know? You're listening to this podcast. You have the desire to be in control of your life and how you create and receive value. Now, you don't need to quit before you get started, looking back it was extremely risky of me to do that. I had to go after the dream, for myself and my family. I had a savings and I happen to work well in very risky situations. I didn't know where to start or how to do any of it, but I had to go for it.     698 | Cut it out!

    About 5 years ago I got into a movement called Minimalism. I met a couple guys running a very popular blog on the subject, so I checked it out. During my search I found a lot of other blogs about it. Everyone seemed to have taking the concept in a slightly different direction. The extreme was someone that gave all their possessions away except 87 items. All 87 items they could fit in a backpack that they could take at any time to travel the world. One couple got rid of their huge house and mortgage payment and bought a tiny house, so they only kept things in their life that could fit in 200 square feet of space. Some of the blogs were just deliberate about what they kept around them. They didn't want to fall into the trap that Tyler Durden warns against in the movie, the Fight Club: "The things you own end up owning you." There are a lot of different version of Minimalism. I don't think there is one "official" definition for it, so I'll just tell you what I think it is. I consider Minimalism the practice of being extremely focused on what will bring you happiness, comfort, beauty, and practical use. I started by getting rid of about half the stuff I had in storage and in boxes in my garage. I was somewhat deliberate on what I wanted to keep. If I hadn't used it in over 6 months and I didn't see myself using it in the next six months, I cut it out of my life for good. I then bought a smaller house. I went down about 1000 square feet. I then cut what I owned down by 50% again. How could I have so much stuff I wasn't using? I then took the concept of Minimalism to my business and knowledge life. I stopped focusing on 100 things and cut it down to the 20 most important things. I stopped collecting so much "free" crap on subjects I was trying to learn about and decided to find the best teachers, the ones that really did what they taught, and invest in their teaching. When I started to focus to this level a couple things happened. I had less distractions and I had more time to be grateful for what I did have in my life, especially since it was all purposely chosen. My income doubled each year to crazy heights. Focus became a cherished practice and what I consider the core of Minimalism: Cut out the distractions and the unneeded and focus on what matters. Being able to focus enough time and energy on ONE project is one of the main keys to your successfully building your freedom business. I studied focus for years and got really good at it. About a year ago, Jason and I put together a training about everything we knew about razor sharp focus and we made a full training on it.     I recently got an email I wanted to share with you. My comments will follow. Here goes... Valerie writes: "I like your emails and because you are being bold, I applaud you. I can hardly wait to see what the Freedom Club is about. I want self-employment as soon as possible. Keep up the tone of your emails. Just thought you would enjoy some feedback from a 62-year-old lady who doesn't want to live on Social Security or eat cat food when she is even OLDER. By the way, I do think the Internet business crowd pretty much ignores older people -- many of us are fairly tech savvy. I've hesitated to purchase things from online marketers who seem to target only one demographic." ----Thanks for the applause, I'll take it! As I've said before, I love entrepreneurs. All kinds. Young, old, man, woman, makes no difference to me. If you have a desire to create massive value in the world with a freedom business, you're my type of person. I wonder if most of the internet business crowd seems to focus on the young is because they are young themselves? Most of the main people I see all over the web seem to be kids themselves. Pretty kids just getting started themselves. Cool, more power to them. I'm 46 and I could care less about my age and the age of others. It's the entrepreneurial mindset, desire, and ability to take action that I focus on in my message and in the Freedom Club. If you're older and about to retire, awesome! You'll have more time to create your freedom business. RANT ALERT: I've never really understood retirement. A person is at their peak of skill and knowledge and then they check out. Time to go play or sit home and watch dumbass daytime TV until death (as I've seen most of my family do.) Why not create a life you don't need vacations from?     695 | WARNING: Be careful if you’re listening to THIS…

    I just got an email that I'm going to share with you. I think a lot of people feel this way and I want to comment on it. Here is the email and my comments will follow. "Hi Jeremy, I emailed you yesterday about joining (the Freedom Club) after being at my friend's funeral. But now I'm having seconds thoughts. I'm going to be 50 years old I don't have any kind of a business idea and people are telling me I'm too old that online businesses are young man's game. I'm starting to believe in the negative people. Can anyone really do this? Please don't think I'm whining just unsure of myself. Thanks, Bill" --No, not just anyone can do it. That's good and bad news. Here's the good news part. The one thing you need to be able to create a successful freedom business - *you already have* or you wouldn't be on my list, emailing me, wanting to be a part of the Freedom Club. That one thing is the DESIRE to be an entrepreneur. It seems like a simple thing to have, but almost NO ONE has it. Think about it. How many people do you know actually want to be a real, live entrepreneur? How many people want to create a business that will help a specific audience that they get to choose? No one in my family or old group of friends did. At all the places I was employed, before I started my first online business, only one other person ever talked about owning their own business. One. And I worked at big businesses and worked directly with 100's of people. (That one person, Marcello, gave me the book that made me Unemployable within 24 hours! More on that another time...) I know most people want the EFFECTS of running a freedom business, like they want the freedom and money and recognition, but they don't want to actually create and run the business and really help an audience they choose. Does that make sense? As a side note, the age thing is nonsense. I'm 46. Most of my online mentors are in their 50's and 60's! Now the bad news... STOP taking advice from the wrong people. You have to be extremely picky about who you take your advice from. If the person that is telling you that you can't do something isn't doing it themselves and they actually know the in's and out's of what they are giving the advice about, their advice is worthless. Ya, hardcore, but true. Maybe the Negative Ned/Nancy that is giving you the dumb advice doesn't have the desire to create a freedom business and doesn't think you should. Maybe they don't want you to succeed and have a better life than they do. Maybe they have good intentions and don't want you to be sad if it doesn't work out the way you want. It doesn't matter why they give crap advice, just stop listening to them. Most of my friends and family told me that I shouldn't leave a 6 figure job to go "waste my time and money on something that doesn't exist." They thought you couldn't make money on the internet 14 years ago when I started. Well, they thought you had to do unsavory things or sell garbage from your attic or garage on eBay... When things started going extremely well and I moved onto the beach in San Diego and traveled first class to England, France, and Scotland and put my kids into awesome private schools, suddenly they all changed their tune about my starting a freedom business... (Though none of them really had the desire, so they didn't do it. They just wanted the effects that I had earned.) So, stop listening to people that don't know what they are talking about. No matter what their intentions, they clearly don't have what it takes to counsel you. That's the first step. Now, the second step. Take action towards your desire.     694 | Are you in this dangerous, endless loop?

    Yesterday I finished my 3rd watching of the new HBO show, Westworld. I very much love this show. The thing to know about me is I'm a long form story connoisseur, that's a fancy way of saying I am a very picky TV show watcher. I worked in Hollywood and studied screenwriting for about 14 years ending my career as an editor at Warner Brothers. I am one of these snobby artists that was very picky and particular, so I don't just like any TV shows. It's very trendy to say, "I don't watch TV, I don't even have a TV in my house." Well good for you, superstar, I happen to love watching and analyzing *ONLY THE BEST* shows. They have to be really good to get the full treatment... Speaking of good, back to the really good Westworld. Most people still haven't heard about Westworld. It came out a couple months ago and, thankfully, got enough people watching it that it is going to have a second season. The show revolves around a sort of theme park for adults. It's set in the future... Has robots that look exactly like humans with near human artificial intelligence and... The theme park is set in the old west and... Anthony Hopkins plays the Godlike creator of the park and... ...it's awesome! It's awesome because it dives deep into what it's like to be human. Like any really good tv shows, you can learn a lot about yourself when watching them. (That doesn't happen to you? You must be watching crappy tv shows!) One of the ideas I really liked in Westworld is the idea that the robot "host" characters are stuck in their prewritten loops. A loop is a specific story that was written for them and they really can't deviate too much from it. So if you are the beautiful and innocent rancher's daughter that loves to paint and help your father you can't just change your mind and go off and join the cavalry to chase bandits or become a hooker at Mave's brothel. You have to stay in the story loop that was written for you. That got me thinking, that is what most people are living out everyday. We are mostly moist robots (Scott Adam's term) caught in our own story loops. Is your story loop that you have no time to start your freedom business, but you will as soon as you're done with X? Is your story loop that you just can't think of a business idea or audience you'd want to create value for? Are you stuck in the story loop of collecting tons of information that you will use "one day" once you gather enough and that "one day" never comes? Is your story loop that you are not good enough to change people's lives with fascinating and useful content? If you are stuck in these endless story loops you are in danger of feeling the dreaded, "death's door" emotion: Regret. There are a group of people out in the world that are waiting for you to break free of those negative story loops and help them change their lives. If I hadn't broke free of my bullshit, restrictive story loops you wouldn't be reading this right now, the Freedom Club wouldn't exist and I wouldn't have been able to help the people I've helped.     Yesterday morning, at 9:30am, I took my youngest daughter to her doctor's appointment. I didn't have to reschedule work or rush from her appointment to work or find someone to cover my shift at a crappy job. We spent the morning together talking about new plans for our life, we went to the appointment and then had lunch together. Being there for my kids at a higher degree is something I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Before I became my own boss I didn't get to be there with them at this level, it was all rush and rush and maybe I'll see you a bit on the weekend, even though we live in the same house. A freedom business allows for quality AND quantity of time with those you love. "Hi Jeremy, I live in the Philippines. I know this is an online course but based on my experience I suck at online courses." ----I have to stop you already. It's unlikely you suck at online courses. It's more like you've been through some crappy online courses. I've been through many of them too. They suck. They aren't step by step and most of them are designed to make you have a bunch of questions so you have to buy the teachers other courses. Shady and disgusting, I know. Could i apply ideas instantly as i get them through the course? Or do i have to comple a course to get started?" ---You don't need to go through the whole 10 courses before taking action.     I love getting success stories and breakthrough stories, even after all these years. Every one of them makes me excited and proud for doing what I do. Success can be just getting yourself started and taking daily action after years of being crippled with doubt.     When I started on this journey to create a freedom business, no one believed in this freedom business thing. Even my wife (now X wife) didn't believe. She supported my decision to try, barely, but I could see the fear and doubt in her eyes. I became extremely unemployable after reading the book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and I couldn't keep working in my boring, 'one day closer to death' job anymore. The day I gathered the courage to start, I could hardly see straight I was so excited, but I was equally afraid. The fear of failure is HUGE. I didn't have any idea what business I was going to start. I didn't have my niche. I didn't have my avatar. I didn't have a clear plan on how or where to start. I *DID* have a burning desire and I was tired of no one believing in my dream. I believed. The fear was real, but my desire was greater. Back then, I couldn't find anyone teaching step by step instructions on starting a freedom business, this was back in 2004. I did understand I needed instruction, but what I found was vague and most of the times I bought something to help me it was a total waste of time. Nothing showed specific steps and phases of getting started, let alone success behaviors and mindset shifts needed to make it much easier.     I first met Pat Flynn in 2009 when I moved down to San Diego to live on the beach. I mentioned I was moving down there in our Academy forums, (it's the older version of the Freedom Club Facebook Mastermind Group.) I put together a San Diego LIVE meet up and that is where I first met Pat. He had just started my course and was very excited. I didn't notice anything different about him in that first meeting, but I ended up getting to know him very well over the next 18 months. During that time quite a few things happened. My Academy forum exploded and there was more activity than I could handle. Pat had gone through our course and started helping me respond to the multitude of questions happening in my forum, so I invited him to be a moderator. He agreed. We had lunch not long after that and I found out that he had followed my course advice and had already made $7000. We talked about his business and I gave him 2 pieces of advice, as a test. About a month later I started a mastermind group for the San Diego area. I invited 2 students to join us and Pat was one of them. The group would go to lunch and then go play frisbee golf by the ocean. During lunch, Pat said he had taken both pieces of my advice and was able to double his money from the last time we met. He said he was making $14,000 a month. I was astounded and he passed the test. I gave business advice all the time and almost no one had ever actually taken it, especially that fast. I had given friend's advice, family advice, and other members of my course advice. Pat was the first to actually put my direct advice into action. We continued the mastermind group for several months and I watched Pat's business grow. He was doing very well with the course I asked him if he would like to work with me on Internet Business Mastery, which would require we meet weekly and I'd teach him in return. He agreed. I really got to know Pat well during this time and several things about him stood out. The first was that he took fast action. When we met the first time, I gave him 2 pieces of advice. He went home after our lunch and did the two things right away. He didn't wait till later or when the time was right or when he felt like it or when the moon was aligned with Saturn, he did it ASAP. The second was that he actually followed my course, step by step. He didn't skip around or add stuff from someone else, he actually took the course exactly as it was meant to be taken. He took fast action and actually followed the instructions on the course step by step. At first glance, it might seem simple and no big deal, but it is HUGE. Almost nobody does it like that. He is now reaping the benefits of these simple actions. Last time I checked, his site says he made $148,006.06 a month. That is the kind of money he makes now because of those two actions. The bad thing was that he sucked at frisbee golf! Luckily, frisbee golf was just something to do while we all talked about business. Take fast action and follow the course step by step...     When I started my entrepreneurial journey, my desire was quite simple. I wanted to work from a home office so I could actually be a part of my family’s lives, instead of a haggard figure they might see as I leave early in the morning or as I come home right before they go to bed. I had no grand visions of a monster-sized house, stacks of cash, exotic cars, a jet, a butler, or a hot tub full of models (YET). Back in those days (2004) I only needed about $2500 a month to cover expenses and would get my desire! (Though it might as well have been a million dollars as I didn’t know how to get the money to cover expenses.) I had a small house, a wife, and 2 very young daughters, so the stakes were high, but my expenses were not. I wasn’t even to a point of dreaming about a million dollars. That wasn’t the goal in the beginning. It so wasn’t in my vision that I didn’t even notice when it happened, I was busy working my mission and enjoying my family. That was over 13 years ago and I’ve refined my dream quite a bit. I thought I’d share it with you, to help you get really clear on what you want. I call this clarity your Freedom Factors. You may want the monster sized house, stacks of cash, exotic cars, a jet, a butler, or a hot tub full of models. That’s fine, it’s your dream.     Not long ago I flew into San Francisco to mastermind with some heavy hitters. The group consisted of John Lee Dumas from Entrepreneur on Fire, Greg Hickman from Mobile Mixed, And Rick Mulready from the Art of Paid Traffic (and our Facebook Ads guru) We rented a beautiful, modern, SanFran house next to some famous park (whose name I can't remember for the life of me) for a few days and got right to masterminding. Each person would get a turn presenting a problem we were having in our businesses and everyone else would talk about all the different solutions they could think up to fix the problem. Then, each person would share tips, secret resources, and big breakthroughs so we could all benefit from them. This went on all of the first day and then the evening was time to 'party' mastermind with a bunch of internet business people who live in San Francisco. There are a lot... The late, great Scott Dinsmore of Live Your Legend and Andrew Warner of Mixergy and a handful of other well-known influencers joined us at a crazy bar/mini-golf/burger joint. The second day was filled with insights and big breakthroughs, and we had a special guest in the afternoon. He lived only a few blocks from our secret mastermind lair. I didn't know Tim Ferriss was supposed to be joining us, but there was a knock at the door and he strolled in. Tims the author of Tools of titans and all the 4-hour books, like four our chef and four our body. I hadn't seen Tim in person since I first met him back in 2007 when he asked to be on my podcast to pitch a little ol' book called, The Four Hour Work Week. (I said no cause we already had a productivity guy, the book became huge, and of course I changed my mind. He did our show a couple months later from his bathroom while he was having a large birthday party at his house, but that's another story...) We spent the entire afternoon getting in-depth and personal with Tim, his business, and some of the investment opportunities he was currently looking into. This continued on throughout the night and into the next morning as Tim showed us around the thriving food and bar scene. The specifics of what is said in a mastermind is confidential and if you share them with others you'll never be invited again, but I can tell you one mindset shift I had from what Tim shared. He was playing at such a high level and had so many possibilities when it came to business that he had a very specific rule when it came to analyzing new ventures. Keep in mind, Tim is very public about being one of the first round of investors in Uber, so he is playing a different level than the rest of us. His rule was that the new venture had to make at least 10 million dollars a year for him to take the time to consider it. No joke, he had so many offers at that level, he wouldn't consider anything not in that realm. I was amazed to hear that, to say the least. What it made me do is shift my mindset to 10x everything I was considering. I had a goal to help 10,000 entrepreneurs get their freedom business started, which I hit, and I decided to 10x that to 100,000!     I recently asked my future Freedom Club members, why they didn't buy when I opened the doors to freedom paradise. I got a lot of questions, many of them the same, so I'm going to group them and answer them here. I'm going to be a little briefer as I have to get my chickens all taken care of before the big storm that is supposed to hit this afternoon. I turned off cable, stopped going out to eat so much, and anything else "extra" that wasn't helping me achieve my dream. I knew I had to invest in my dream and actually do the daily steps needed to make it happen.     684 | Are you just waiting to die?

    I woke up this morning excited and out of my mind with joy. I couldn't wait to get up and write to you. I have a deep affinity for entrepreneurs and people that have the desire to be entrepreneurs. That's you or you wouldn't be seeing these words... Anyways, waking up like this wasn't always so joyous. Back in 2003, right before I started my entrepreneurial journey, I would wake up on a Sunday morning and for a few moments, I'd feel, at best, relief. Relief that it was Sunday and that I didn't have to go to work. Then I'd think of going back to work on Monday and dread would start to fill my mind. I'd do all I could to push the feeling of dread out of my mind. By Sunday night I'd have full on "Sunday Evening Dread". Most of my "days off" would be fighting off the feeling of dread or fully encased in it. That happened for YEARS. I heard a quote that escalated my dread to exasperation. This quote and my 3 "fake" heart attacks shocked me awake. Here it is: "Most people are just waiting to die" … Let that sink in. I don't remember who originally said the quote, but after I heard it I was dazed for weeks. I came out of that daze with one thought: FUCK THAT! I made the choice. I wasn't going to spend the rest of my life just "waiting to die"! I didn't know how, but I made the choice anyways. That choice lead me from playing by the status quo and feelings of being bored, annoyed, financially enslaved, unhappy, scared, and afraid of failure... To where I am now, nearly an eight figure business, high level of freedom, control over daily life, ability to print money on demand, surrounded by hand picked, high-level people, and excited to wake up every day to talk to people I respect and am on a mission to help.     683 | What will you do with your new found freedom?

    I get asked, from time to time, what's the first thing I did when I started to feel successful. I have to admit, what I did was pretty cliché. It's so cliché that most internet "gurus" point to it in their free content or their ads. You've seen the ad, pretty girl sitting on the beach with a laptop or a young guy sitting in a beach chair, with a laptop and an umbrella drink... It's so cliché that when I ask people this question, "what will you do with your new found freedom?", 48.754% of them say the first thing I did… No, it wasn't, "go to Disneyland". I'm a grown man, after all. Alright, so what is it? "Live on the beach." Yep, I moved to the beach. Funny thing is, I didn't originally feel successful because of money. My first million came and went and I didn't even notice. I know that sounds stupid and unrealistic, but I was totally engaged in my business. I enjoyed the "work" I was doing and I just got in the habit of doing it. That wasn't the thing that triggered me to be cliché. At that time, I lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. If you don't know Salt Lake, it's mostly surrounded by mountains and is at a high altitude. The winters can be brutal. That winter WAS brutal and I had enough. Summer came and the feeling of annoyance was decreasing because of all the snow was melting away. Then it happened. It snowed on June 3rd. I kid you not, it snowed in the summer. It snowed about a foot and a half. I fumed all day as I watched snow fall in front of my home office window, IN JUNE. Then it struck me. I didn't HAVE to live here. I had the money and freedom to live where ever I wanted. So I moved. The first thing I did with my new found freedom was move to the beach in San Diego, California.     682 | Become your own drug dealer

    This morning I was reading a fascinating book about being able to manipulate the naturally occurring drugs in your brain. You've probably heard of these happiness drugs, like dopamine, endorphin, oxytocin, and serotonin. Dopamine produces the joy of finding the rewards you seek. Endorphin produces the oblivion that masks pain. Serotonin produces the feeling of being respected by others - pride. Oxytocin produces the comfort of social alliances. What's awesome is that the PHD that wrote this books says you can consciously take specific actions to make these drugs release getting a certain level of the feeling they produce. Most people don't understand these drugs and how important they are, which leads them to taking actions that could hurt them in the long run, just so they can trigger these drugs. To trigger these drugs many people use alcohol, food, money, "illegal" and legal drugs, sex and other risky behavior. If we understand these brain drugs instead, we could learn to trigger them with the actions we consciously choose! I love knowing stuff like this. This is why I'm a knowledge geek... I think knowing this is not only useful in becoming your own brain drug dealer, but it's very important in how you deal with your future customers. Knowing how to help your customers trigger the good drugs could be very powerful. There aren't only "good" drugs in the brain. There is a "unhappiness" drug called Cortisol. The last thing you want to do is trigger Cortisol in your potential customers and leave them with it. Having a freedom business triggers most of the happiness drugs in me every day. That's one of the main, mostly unconscious goals of having a freedom business, to create happiness with the use of the Value Cycle. What I mostly see in beginners is a trigger of the "bad" stuff, Cortisol. I believe this to be mostly from the fear of failure, so we'll be talking about how to avoid that in the future. For now, just know you can take daily actions to trigger your own happiness brain drugs. This is something to be celebrated and rejoiced!     681 | 3 Heart Attacks and 1 New Life

    My eyes were shut and I could hear a lot of activity going on in the room. I was laying on a bed. I felt weak and disoriented. I could hear my wife talking to a man with a deep voice and a handful of other voices moving around the room. I finally dared to open my eyes. I was clearly in a large hospital room. There was a lot of medical stands and devices around the bed, some making very light noises. My wife was talking to a tall doctor when she noticed I was awake. They looked at me, concerned. She looked like she was going to faint… The doctor told me I had been through 2 major heart attacks. I was in the ICU and I’d be taking a bunch of pills for the rest of my life. My heart would be very damaged and I wouldn’t be running around playing soccer with my two daughters again anytime soon. Overwhelmed, I shut my eyes. The last 2 days came flooding back into my mind. The massive chest pain on Christmas night, with my entire extended family around me. The ambulance coming, my family crowded in the front window, watching, Christmas tree lighted up behind them, as I was rushed to the local hospital. The rest of the time was a blur as I remember chest pain so bad I passed out in the ambulance. Hours later I had to be moved to a larger, city hospital and I remember the chest pain being so intense that I thought I was about to die. I passed out, again. That is when I work up in the room with the doctor and my wife and about 5 nurses or so, all busy doing who knows what. I was numb. I was only 28. No history of heart problems in the family. I didn’t drink, smoke or do drugs of any kind. I had a fairly low-stress office job and had risen through the ranks, making it out of the cubicle farm into an office. Why me?! How did this happen? My mind was racing and then I felt it. Like a UFC fighter punching me in the chest with all his power. Consciousness faded as did the massive strike of sudden pain. I woke up again, in another room. It looked like a simple hospital room instead of a packed, state of the art ICU room I was in before. No one was in the room. What if I had another heart attack and I simply died? What would my family do? Was this life I had what I had really wanted? Have you ever heard Tony Robbins talk about the rocking chair thought exercise? It’s where you pretend you are at the end of your life, sitting in a rocking chair, thinking It’s where you pretend you are at the end of your life, sitting in a rocking chair, thinking about all the decisions and actions you had taken or not taken in life. Would you be proud of your life or completely regretful? I spent about an hour going through that exercise, with what I thought could really be the end of my life. I realized I was proud of a few things and totally regretful about many others and I wasn’t even 30 yet. Long story short, the doctor came in and told me that they had called a specialist. They didn’t find any blocked arteries, I had no health risks, I was young, and the cardio unit couldn’t figure out why I had had 3 massive heart attacks in 2 days. The specialist did a simple test and found that I had a virus in the sack around my heart. It was no worse than getting the flu virus. I wouldn’t have to take all the pills the rest of my life and my heart was NOT damaged. The virus SIMULATES a heart attack, with no lasting damage. I was to take some antibiotics and I’d be fine in 7 days… I was completely shocked, again. I felt complete relief. While I was being checked out of the hospital, I made a commitment to myself not to play it safe anymore. Not to live a life that bored me. Not to pretend to be average anymore. Not to die with regret. Fast-forward a bunch of years to today. Lot’s has happened since my 3 simulated heart attacks. I’m sure I’ll be telling you about some of those things another time, but I wanted to share where this journey began.

    A week or so ago I was talking about the way to build confidence is to act courageously by taking the first step. In my studies, I found some more great info for you. You begin by asking, "who am I going to be?" You decided to be courageous again. So what's next? Act that way. Act with courage. And here comes the part that's so simple it's easy to miss: the way you act will shape the way you feel. When you act with courage, immediately your fears start to shrink and you begin to grow. If you want to feel different, act differently. This isn't complicated, but it's amazing how many get it wrong. Cato (one of the original stoics) was a man who decided at an early age what kind of person he wanted to be – someone who was stoic, tough, self-sacrificing - and then he set out to become that person. When you put identity first – when you start from your conscious choice to be a certain kind of person – the way you think about achievement changes too. You see that character precedes achievement. I don't mean that good things only happen to good people, or that there's no such thing as luck.     This morning I was reflecting on the last few months. In 2017 I decided I was going to totally change my life and go after another dream. Since then I’ve gotten rid of more than 90% of my stuff. I’ve sold my home and gentleman’s farm. I’ve streamlined this business even more. I’ve gotten a new place in a different city and moved there. I’ve set up my life to be perfect for my next hero’s journey. Once I make a decision, I move fast. Why? I took to heart a what author Phil Stutz said in his book The Tools. Phil said that the longer we wait between feeling inspired to do something and actually doing it, the more our confidence and self-respect erodes. When I make a decision now I take action as fast as possible. I also prefer to lead by example, not just theory. How long has it been since you realized you had a dream to create a freedom business?     As I am about to start a new business my mind drifted back thinking about how I originally started this business, Internet Business Mastery. I made a ton of mistakes. I'm going to list a few of them in hopes you can learn from my past ignorance and then I'm going to give you the plan that finally made it all work. As I said, I made a ton of mistakes. I didn't choose my mentors wisely, I picked who ever was most seen and was putting out the most info. I got on over 30 emails lists and I buried myself in beginner information and I let it go on for far too long. I let my fear stop me for far too long. When I finally started, I started a bunch of businesses. I tried mashing all the different business plans and advice into a Frankenstein hybrid business. I picked the wrong business model and one of my businesses actually became successful, which made it so I had to work at least 12 hours a day, seven days a week. I ended up hating that business and business model. I kept starting different projects, but never finishing them. I could go on and on, but there is a little taste. Now I'm going to tell what finally started working. I learned it from a guy in the first group mastermind I was in. This guy made over 1 million dollars a month with his business. 1 MILLION DOLLARS A MONTH! I told him all the problems I was having and I asked him why he didn't have the same problems and here is what he said he did: He understood the power of ONE. ONE BUSINESS He choose to work on one business at a time. He said he'd get it to a place where he was happy with the money and then he'd just hire a CEO to run it exactly the way he did. ONE MENTOR He choose one mentor at a time to take advice from. He said they had to have been doing whatever they were teaching successfully for more than 7 years and he didn't want to hear about fads. No fads in business plans and no fads in traffic generation and no fads in sales and marketing. Just fundamentals. He said the power of one was how he was able to get his business to 1 million dollars a month. I decided to take his advice and everything changed for me after that. I stopped building businesses and I focused on one business, this one. Internet Business Mastery double in size and profit each year for the next four years in a row.     Back when I got started I had a major fear. Actually, I had a lot of fears, but one especially stood out. I looked out over the internet and saw a LOT of people already successful doing the exact thing I wanted to do. I had the mistaken belief that if someone was already doing it, in my case a LOT of someones, then there was no room for me. I recently found a quote I saw years ago that helped: "Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But, since no one was listening, everything must be said again." ~Andre Gide You can say what has already been said, but add YOU to it. This is another reason I love the personality-based, relationship business I teach. You learn the ins and outs of the subject you want to teach and add YOU to it. No one can copy YOU. I'm a combination of my mentors, my thoughts, my actions, and what I've learned (and didn't learn) from my actions. That makes me different from anyone else, even if we talk about the same things. I'm going to say something that has been said a different way than anyone else. I bring a different angle, a different voice, and different view and so do you… See, I bet if you were to write an email based on this quote, you'd make a different point, maybe a better point. Maybe you'd make the same point, but make it more clear. You'd use a better story and point out someone that did an action that proves your point. Maybe you'd be sarcastic or more optimistic or use your dog as an example. Maybe you'd decide this quote is dumb and find a different one. No matter what, if you have a desire to be heard and create value for others, do it. It may have already been "said", but not by you.     My youngest sister asked me about how I got started recently and I began telling her the story again. She stopped me. She said, "I've heard the story, I want to know how you got the confidence to get started knowing nothing about business." I said, "I'll get back to you..." I actually thought about it for days and I came up with this answer. "Confidence comes when you have the courage to start without confidence." That was it. I decided to commit to the desire to start a freedom business and I mustered all my courage and I just started. I slowly, but surely gathered the information to get started and I tested and tested. I finally got to know my audience and I focused on getting them the value they wanted. After doing that, I got more and more confident. It was really blind, tiny courage that got me started. "Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the Freedom Club and how much it has to offer. My question is how should I be going through the course work. My philosophy is to go through everything first and digest it all. Then, look further in detail by going into it a second time and start to take action. Is this a plausible way of doing things, or do you suggest taking action as you go along with the modules. Just curious if am doing things correctly and the most beneficial. Thanks, Erik" --I totally know where you are coming from. I use to do this as well, in fact, I'm doing it right now with a personal development course I'm going through. I listen and watch it all, to sorta get the gist of it. I do take notes if I get a real, "ah ha!" moment, but I don't do my extensive notes till the second pass. The Freedom Club is a bit different.     670 | All the ingredients needed for the secret sauce of success.

    For the first 6 years of my entrepreneurial journey I was completely obsessed with finding the secret sauce needed for success. I figured the "GURU's" kept the secrets to themselves, but I was determined to find them anyways. Secret sauce means the exact combination of abilities, skills, knowledge, mindset, etc, that makes success inevitable. I had found a type of secret sauce in the J-O-B I had before I became an entrepreneur, so there had to be with this. For 7-10 years of my entrepreneurial journey I no longer believed in a secret sauce. I had a lot of successful friends and I wrongly thought I couldn't really see a specific combination of traits that was in each of them. Or so I thought. Then, I found my way into a top level, secret mastermind group. Actually I earned my way in. I was one of the top affiliates for a BIG internet marketing duo. A couple of the biggest guys in the business. You probably know them, if you've been around for even 5 minutes. This mastermind group was held at a very ritzy hotel Even the room the mastermind was held in seemed classy and upscale, not like those low end, crummy hotel seminar rooms you've probably been in before. There were about 18 people in the room, including me. Half the people in the room were extremely well known to me, in many different markets. The other half where the “behind the curtain” guys behind the "GURU's", the guys that made the *real* money. I was blown away over the two long days I spent with them and I learned things about myself and business that changed me forever. One of those things was the 3 ingredients in the secret sauce of success. When I left this magical place I was shocked, angered, and extremely excited. I was shocked that I didn't know most of the massive secrets I learned in that room. Secrets that could have made my entrepreneurial struggle lessened to the point of ease. I was angered that no one taught the specifics of all I learned there. These big guys and "GURU's" keep the info for themselves, as I suspected they did! I was right all along... I was extremely excited that I had the knowledge and could put it to use right away. I generally knew about the 3 secret ingredients. They all seemed obvious once I knew about them, but I never have seen anyone focus on them to the degree they need to be focused on. I started focusing on them right away. The first ingredient is that you have to *deserve* success. You have to take the small steps everyday that lead to the success you desire. I actually talked about this quite a bit on this daily show and I'll be talking about it a LOT more. It seems simple, but it's massively important and there is a lot behind it's simple looking exterior. I had used this first ingredient myself and was able to help 1,000's of people and enjoy 7 figure paydays because of it and that was without focusing on it! This is why freeloaders and get rich quickers will never be successful, they want to simply "push a button once and money endlessly comes out" opportunity, but that doesn't exist and it's a loser mindset from the get go. Deserving success isn't hard, but it cannot be skipped. I built this first ingredient into every course I've made. Simple, step by step plans on how to deserve success is really what all 10 courses are in the Freedom Club are designed as. I've gotten really good at adding it for you. The next ingredient seems to have a bit of a negative vibe around it. I have a Facebook group I run JUST about this second ingredient. I asked the members what emotions came up about this ingredient and mostly seemed to be negative. Don't be tricked into thinking it is negative, it's extremely powerful and extremely important. The second ingredient is *persuasion*. I've currently dedicated myself to mastery with this subject. I love learning about it.

I believe that when you have a dream, you give your all towards achieving it. I believed it and went after it when I left my 6 figure career 14 years ago and ended up starting Internet Business Mastery and now it's time to do it again.
