The cleanup operation continues in Clare today, in the wake of Storm Ashley. At least 247 homes and businesses in the greater Ennis, Drumquin, Ennistymon, Kilrush and Scariff areas remain without power this morning, after gusts of up to 106 kilometres per hour battered the county. ESB crews are working to restore power to those affected, with faults in most areas expected to be dealt with by half past two this afternoon, though some face a longer wait until evening. While all Shannon Airport services operated to schedule yesterday, thirteen flight diversions have been facilitated by the Midwest Airport, seven of those originally due to land at Cork Airport and six due at Dublin. Between 3am on Sunday and 2am this morning, Clare County Council and Clare County Fire Service responded to over 50 different callouts to incidents across the county due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Ashley. Clare's Chief Fire Officer, Adrian Kelly says it was a powerful storm that led to downed trees and power lines and debris on the roads and he's urging motorists and those out and about this morning to take extra care.

Want to learn more about holistic farming and food production systems that prioritize health? In today's episode with Pat, we will discuss how to support farmers who are looking for alternatives to synthetic chemicals, antibiotics, and artificial intervention, as well as how homeopathy can help farmers practice whole-health farming. Pat Aherne is a conventional farmer with an unconventional outlook. Pat is located on what is properly the last piece of farmland between Cork Airport and Cork City. He holds the title of being the last farmer in his parish of Ballyphehane, a once thriving farming community and home to the famous CMP Dairies. He owns a herd of 90 cows under the prefix AnnaMaria (named after his two daughters). Pat is the third generation on the farm. His grandmother bought the farm in 1958, Pat's father Patrick took over in 1970 and Pat took over in 2014. Pat started to explore a more unconventional approach to farming when he had a major outbreak of mastitis 13 years ago, with sixteen cases being treated at one time. Amazingly, he did get on top of the problem but swore that he would never subject his cows to the same level of antibiotic treatment again. Pat has transformed his herd's health and fertility while reducing antibiotic use through a homeopathic approach learned over the last 10 years. He is passionate about a naturopathic approach to his herd of 90 dairy cows and now leads the way in Ireland and the UK as a homeopath farmer. Check out these episode highlights: 01:47 - How Pat first introduce to homeopathy 07:32 - The power of homeopathic remedies in animals 16:21 - How do you use homeopathy on the farm 20:00 - Treating injuries through homeopathy 26:20 - Pat's best man's cancer diagnosis 29:07 - How to deal with depression 3145 - What happens when you don't want to be near animals 36:33 - Why sharing your story is so powerful 38:03 - How can people learn more about homeopathy through online courses Find out more about Pat Website: https://wholehealthag.org/ Link for more info about the online courses https://nots.ie/events/progressive-farm-homeopathy-online/ For international farmers https://learning.wholehealthag.org/farm-homeopathy-foundation-course Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehomeopathfarmer/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_homeopath_farmer_/ Support the Homeopathy Hangout Podcast by making a $5 once-off donation at www.buymeacoffee.com/hangout Join my Homeopathy Hangout Podcast Facebook community here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HelloHomies Follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/eugeniekrugerhomeopathy/ Here is the link to my free 30-minute Homeopathy@Home online course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqBUpxO4pZQ&t=438s Upon completion of the course - and if you live in Australia - you can join my Facebook group for free acute advice (you'll need to answer a couple of questions about the course upon request to join): www.facebook.com/groups/eughom

Back in 1957, planning was underway for an airport for Cork. After considering many sites in the area, it was agreed that the airport should be built in Ballygarvan. It was built at an estimated cost of £1 million. The airport was officially opened on 16 October 1961, following proving flights four days earlier by Aer Lingus and Cambrian Airways. In its first year, the airport handled 10,172 passengers – close to the average number of passengers handled each day at the airport in 2007. My guest today is Kevin Cullinane, Head of Communications at Cork Airport. Despite enormous negative impact of the pandemic on the whole aviation sector in Ireland, Kevin still sees a silver lining. Government´s strict position on protecting the health of the nation paid its dividends as Ireland has one of the lowest infection rates in Europe. Recently government also recognized the massive challenges the sector has to face. Kevin shared with us how they plan to invest those EUR 22M they will receive from the state next year. Most importantly, despite the ongoing pandemic, Cork Airport still supports the economy of this open and global city with vital connectivity to strategically important destinations, demonstrating the crucial role regional airports play and will play in the economic recovery. Scary Mysteries Twisted Twos: Sophia Toscan du Plantier & Susan Smith Tales of hauntings, murder and scary mysteries, Every week Twisted Two's dives into a pair of uniquely terrifying true stories that are worthy of a more in depth look. For this week we focus on a gruesome and mysterious death and a morbid story from a woman named Susan Smith. Get ready for scary mysteries Twisted Two's. #1 Sophia Toscan du Plantier Sophia Toscan du Plantier was a French Film producer born in Paris France in 1957. After marrying a fellow French film mogul, Daniel Toscan du Plantier, they bought a home in the town of Drinane in Schull, Ireland. This isolated house would serve as a retreat for the couple whenever they wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris. On December 20, 1996, Sophia arrived at the Cork Airport in Ireland and drove to her home in Schull. For the weekend, she visited friends and dropped by some of her favorite haunts. Afterwards, she decided to return to Paris on Christmas eve, phoning her husband the night before her departure at 11:00 PM, saying she would see him the next day. However, the next day at 10:00 AM, Sophia’s bludgeoned body would be found by her neighbor, Shirley Foster, in the laneway leading to her home. #2 Susan Smith On October 25, 1994, Susan Smith contacted police and told them she had been carjacked by a black man while stopped at an intersection. She pleaded with police for help because her two sons, 3-year old, Michael and 14-month old, Alex, were still inside the car when the man had driven away with the vehicle. For the next nine days, Susan went on various national television programs, pleading and asking for her boys’ safe return. A huge investigation followed along with a nationwide search. But police always had their suspicions from the start.
