In this episode we discuss the Sasquatch Genome Project, Bigfoot, Jeff Meldrum, Melba Ketchum, The Olympic Project, Derek Randles, BIGFOOT DNA, genomics, skepticism, science, myth, and much much more! YouTube
On this special edition of Sasquatch Tracks, the team is joined by researchers David Ellis and Julie Rench, who discuss their ongoing research with audio recordings of unknown provenance in various parts of the United States. Joining us to discuss this unique research, Julie brings us a remarkable selection of recordings she has made near the Uwharrie National Forest in North Carolina, with comparisons to similar recording types David has been collecting for years in the Pacific Northwest. David Ellis was born and currently lives in Washington State. He obtained his BA degree in Psychology from the University of Washington in 1974, and now retired, David lives in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. Ellis has followed the Bigfoot Phenomenon since 1963, but became involved in the field in 2006, and joined the Olympic Project with Derek Randles in 2010. In addition to field studies and track casting methods, Ellis also taught himself to record and edit field recordings. This analysis led him to collect hundreds of suspicious audio vocalizations clips. To date, he has reviewed 1,000s of hours of audio using Bio-acoustics methods of analysis, which we’ll have him tell us more about over the course of this discussion. Julie Rench has been a field investigator for many years now, focusing her attention on the area near where she resides, the Uwharrie National Forest, which in recent years has become a focal point of activity right here in the Old North State. Like David, investigates the possibility that Sasquatch exists, and has had an interest in unknown phenomena for several years. She is a member of the Carolina Cryptid Research Group, a co-host on Monster X Radio’s podcast “On the Shoulders of Giants with Thomas Steenburg” and others. Julie has been conducting an audio collection and analysis project in the area, and tonight both of them join us not only to discuss this, but also to analyze some of that audio they have collected, which we’ll be featuring over the course of this discussion. Many people have long held comfort in their confidence that mankind isn't the only highly intelligent species in the world, and have embarked on countless journeys to find evidence to prove their belief. For centuries, cultures have collected proof of their experiences with the hominids, which are often referred to as Bigfoot in North American folklore, but much to their dismay, there are still a multitude of non-believers. That journey to share their documentation will be highlighted in the upcoming documentary, ‘Sasquatch Among Wildmen.' availaible on such digital platforms as iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Xbox, Vudu, Fandango Now, Direct TV, Dish Network, Comcast/Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox and Verizon Fios, as well as through local cable providers, on November 10. In honor of ‘Sasquatch Among Wildmen's upcoming release. Darcy Weir directed the documentary, which features Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum, Derek Randles, Shane Corson, David Ellis, Darcy Weir and Lee Lustig. Uncork'd Entertainment has unveiled the following synopsis for ‘Sasquatch Among Wildmen': Throughout history, ape-like humanoids have appeared in myths and legends of cultures from around the world. Filmmaker Darcy Weir (UFO Events - The Best of Third Phase, Occult Journeys, Beyond the Spectrum - Humanoids) continues his adventures in the world of Cryptozoology with his latest documentary, Sasquatch Among the Wildmen. Weir covers the topic of this species and their cousins in East Asia, China specifically with the Yeren. The Yeren is much shorter than Bigfoot, standing between 6' to 6'5" in height, making them easier to disappear in the the Chinese forests, and to the average skeptic, a bit more believable. Sasquatch Among the Wildmen also features Dr. Jeff Meldrum is a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology at Idaho State University, a man who has quickly become the leading Bigfoot researcher based on his expertise on foot morphology and locomotion in primates. I spoke with Weir about his take on the alternative science theories about these wildmen, the notion that Bigfoot uses wormholes to travel around the Pacific Northwest and where he stood in regards to scientific evidence regarding these creatures. From the Olympic Bigfoot Research Project, we are joined by Dave Ellis, Shane Corson, and Derek Randles, to talk about their findings on the reigning hide and seek champion.
Join Monster X as we discuss Bigfoot, Research, Science, and Nests with the Olympic Project's Derek Randles. Derek Randles has been involved in Bigfoot research for 29 years. His first encounter with Bigfoot was in 1985 in the Olympic National Park in Washington State. Since then, Derek has worked with many researchers, scientists and wild life biologists along the way. In 1997 Derek was invited to join the North American Ape project with Jeff Meldrum and Ron Brown. In September of 2000 he was invited to join the BFRO and attend their first Bigfoot expedition in Skookum Meadows near Mt. Saint Helens. During that expedition, Derek was one of the three people who found and cast the Skookum impression. Derek owns and operates a wilderness guide service in Washington state. The Olympic Project is an association of dedicated researchers, investigators, biologists and trackers committed to documenting the existence of Sasquatch through science and education. Through comprehensive habitat study, DNA analysis and game camera deployment, our goal is to obtain as much information and empirical evidence as we can, with hopes of being as prepared as possible when and if species verification comes to fruition. Our studies are conducted in a non-invasive manor with respect and sensitivity to probable habitat we believe this amazing species inhabits. John A. Bindernagel (born 1941 - January 18, 2018) was a wildlife biologist who sought evidence for Bigfoot since 1963. He published a book in 1998 entitled North America's Great Ape: the Sasquatch. Bindernagel grew up in Ontario, attended the University of Guelph, and received a PhD in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He moved to British Columbia in 1975, largely because the region was a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings. I have invited many friends of the Doc to come on and talk about what John meant to them, and share their memories of him. I will also be playing some clips of past shows with John. Tonight I will be joined by Bob Gimlin, Russell Acord, Derek Randles, Ron Morehead, Paul Graves, Marc Myrsell, Thomas Sewid, Rictor Riolo, Shane Corson, and Todd and Diane Neiss. I know so many people wanted to come on and talk about John and I tried to fit in as many as possible. I think I can sum up the show tonight like this: John was an example of how to be a great human being. He always treated people with respect and was loved and admired by many. I hope when you hear the show you remember John. Check out his website HERE.

At 9:00 pm, Eric and Marie welcome Musician Walter Shrum and local TV Personality and star of Fright Night Theatre, Harry A. Metz. Walt the Music Man is a Uniontown singer/songwriter's who's inspiration to sing a song about Bigfoot has inspired an entire album dedicated to those who hunt the legendary beast of debatable mythology. Walter Shrum has been writing and singing songs for 20 years and even turned his attic into a makeshift recording studio, but a bit of inspiration took him down an unusual songwriting path. It was something about Bigfoot — a.k.a Sasquatch, Yeti, Hairy Stinka Boo, Skunk Ape, Momo and Windego — that Shrum was looking into that caused him to come up with a song and contact his friend and local television personality Harry Metz to shoot a music video to the song “Searching For Bigfoot.” The song's music video, which can be found on YouTube under “Searching for Bigfoot Music Video,” features areas like the Brownsville Drive-In and the Route 40 Diner. The video scored more than 8,000 hits on YouTube, but one of those hits came from Rick Dyer, a Bigfoot hunter who has gained national attention over the years and who shared the music video on his website. The 21-song CD titled “Tribute to the Stars of Bigfoot” not only mentions up to 25 of those Bigfoot hunters who have gained national press and have their own shows, but also includes autographs from them on the CD case, including Rick Dyer, Derek Randles, Biff Burke, Dallas Gilbert, Justin Smeja, Stacy Brown, Tammy Murray, Michael Merchant. Others cited include Matt Moneymaker, Cliff Barackman, James “Bobo” Fay and Ranae Holland from the television show “Finding Bigfoot,” and Beyond The Edge Radio Host and Bigfoot Hunter Eric Altman. Shrum said he plans on shopping his songs to local radio stations and is trying to get the album in mom and pop stores in the area. For those who need to satisfy their Bigfoot serenade fix, the songs can be purchased on iTunes or viewed on YouTube under “waltthemusicman”. People can even purchase the entire CD for $12.99 on Pay Pal by contacting Shrum on his facebook page. Harry Metz AKA Scary Harry AKA the Spooky Spectre is a videographer and owner of Scary Harry Video. Harry is also a local tv personality and hails from the Uniontown area as well.
