In our inaugural episode of "Terrified Together," we partnered with Chris and Ed from "Scared All the Time Podcast" to dive into spine-chilling listener submissions that had us questioning reality itself. We kicked things off with Taylor's haunting tale from Marietta, Ohio - a 21-year-old who bought what seemed like the perfect starter home, only to discover it came with some very unwelcome residents. From mysterious footsteps in a locked attic to pets behaving in ways that would make any animal lover's blood run cold, Taylor's experience had us all leaning into our mics with genuine concern and fascination. Our second story transported us across the pond to Ireland, where our listener Carrie Anne's life took a dramatic turn after an innocent hike in the mountains of Sligo. What started as a family walk through familiar terrain became something far more sinister when she encountered an ancient stone monument and made the fateful decision to explore a forbidden fairy fort. In this chilling episode of Believing the Bizarre, we dive into two haunting tales that'll make you question what lurks in the shadows. First, we explore Kay's family home in Pennsylvania, where for thirteen years they endured relentless paranormal activity. From mysterious voices calling out from empty rooms to unexplained tugging at feet and hands, this suburban house seemed determined to make its presence known. The most unsettling revelation? Those voices Kaye heard calling her name may not have been coming from downstairs at all, but from something much closer to home. Our second story takes a dramatically darker turn with Anthony's submission about his paranormal investigation group, the Midnight Men. What started as a simple case to help an old friend spiraled into something far more sinister than anyone could have imagined. When a seasoned medium abruptly cut all ties after meeting the affected family, it should have been a red flag. Instead, Anthony and his team pressed forward, only to discover that some entities don't wait for you to visit them – they come to you first. This tragic tale serves as a sobering reminder that in the world of paranormal investigation, there are forces that even the most experienced shouldn't dare to challenge. Cursed Games and Rituals: Part 5This week, we explore three eerie cursed games that blur the line between ritual and entertainment. We first discuss the Binoculars Game (also known as Eye Spy), where participants must secure a friend with rope while searching for a mysterious approaching figure through windows.Next, we delve into Cat Scratch, a seemingly innocent party game where one person lies with their head in another's lap while hearing a creepy story, potentially resulting in unexplained scratch marks appearing on their back.We also discuss the Witch's Window ritual, which involves setting up a mirror with candles and salt to communicate with spirits from the beyond. This particular game requires specific safety precautions to ensure you're only creating a "window" rather than a "door" for entities to pass through. As with all our cursed games episodes, we emphasize that while these rituals might seem far-fetched, we don't endorse trying them yourself - the line between skepticism and genuine paranormal experience often blurs when you're sitting alone in the dark, following strange instructions that might invite something unexpected into your world.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? The Japanese Teke Teke and 8 Foot Tall WomanIn this episode, we explore two fascinating Japanese Yokai legends: the Teke Teke and the Hachishakusama (Eight-Foot-Tall Woman). The Teke Teke is the vengeful spirit of a schoolgirl who was bullied, fell onto train tracks, and was cut in half by a train. Now she drags her torso around with her spine exposed, making a distinctive "teke teke" sound with her claw-like fingers, asking victims where her legs are.Only a specific answer will save you from being torn apart. We also discuss the frightening Hachishakusama, an eight-foot-tall woman in white who haunts children, making a deep "po po po" sound before taking them away forever. Unlike many other Yokai, she's not bound to a specific location, making her particularly dangerous. We share a detailed encounter story that illustrates the elaborate protective measures Japanese families might take to shield children who have been "liked" by this entity, including the use of religious artifacts and specific rituals to confuse and evade her.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? The House that Belonged to HimIn this episode of Believing the Bizarre, we explore two chilling listener encounters centered around haunted homes. The first story comes from a listener named Ghost in Canada, who experienced strange knocking on their window while studying late at night, followed by hearing their name called in a distorted, underwater-like voice that mimicked their mother. The second tale from an anonymous submitter (aja "Sofia," iykyk) in West Georgia involves a couple who purchased a charming 1939 farmhouse where they constantly felt watched. Their experiences escalated from feeling a weight on an air mattress during illness to lights turning on and off mysteriously, culminating in an intruder being spotted outside - potentially after the protective spirit alerted them to danger. We discuss potential explanations for both encounters, from the possibility of mimics or doppelgangers in Ghost's case to the likelihood of a benevolent protective spirit in the Georgia farmhouse.Get 50% off Magic Mind here with our link and code: https://magicmind.com/bizzareEDU & BIZZARE50#magicmind #mentalperformancePatreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? In our latest episode of Believe in the Bizarre, we dive into the fascinating alien abduction case of Betty Andreasson from 1967.Betty, a devout Christian mother of seven whose husband was hospitalized after an accident, experienced strange phenomena in her South Ashburnham, Massachusetts home when pink pulsating lights appeared outside her kitchen window. What started as flickering lights and strange silhouettes led to a blackout, with Betty's conscious memories ending there. The majority of our discussion explores the extraordinary details revealed a decade later through hypnotic regression sessions conducted in the mid-1970s, where Betty recalled encounters with gray entities led by one named "Quazga" and a journey that took her far beyond her home.Throughout our conversation, we debate whether these entities had benevolent intentions or something more mysterious, comparing elements of Betty's experience to other abduction cases like the Betty and Barney Hill incident. The level of detail in Betty's regression testimony is remarkable - from physical examinations aboard a craft to visits to strange environments with unique creatures. 100% credit goes to the book: The Andreasson Affair: The Documented Investigation of a Woman's Abduction Aboard a Ufo. Champ the Lake Champlain MonsterThis week we dive into the legend of Champ, the Lake Champlain Monster, exploring over 300 reported sightings dating back to 1609 when Samuel de Champlain claimed to witness a 20-foot serpent-like creature. We chronicle key evidence including Sandra Mansi's famous 1977 photograph, sonar readings capturing unusual shapes, and alleged echolocation recordings from cryptozoologist Katy Elizabeth.Throughout the episode, we discuss theories about whether Champ could be a prehistoric survivor like a plesiosaur or tanystropheus, citing Lake Champlain's substantial depth of 400 feet as a potential habitat. We also look at alternative explanations for the Lake Champlain cryptid, including large sturgeon (which can reach 27 feet), groups of otters swimming in formation creating a serpentine illusion, or partially submerged logs moved by underwater currents called seiches.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? 2025 Plane Crash ConspiraciesIn this episode, we discuss a series of plane crashes that occurred in early 2025, examining potential conspiracy theories surrounding these incidents. We analyze five fatal crashes that happened within weeks of each other, including a military helicopter collision with a commercial plane in Washington DC, a medical evacuation jet crash in Philadelphia, and several other aviation incidents across the United States.Charlie presents a timeline of these events while questioning whether these crashes represent random accidents or something more orchestrated. Throughout our discussion, we explore three main conspiracy theories: that the crashes serve as a distraction from other major events, that they represent targeted silencing of specific individuals, or that they're part of a fear-mongering campaign to discourage travel.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? It is Extraterrestrial Encounters time! This week, we have four compelling UFO sighting accounts across North America and Egypt, where witnesses encountered unexplained aerial phenomena that defied conventional explanation. In Alberta, Gracie and her family observed a bright red unidentified object moving toward their vehicle during a stargazing trip; in Arizona, Bridget experienced missing time and strange lights surrounding her car; in Cairo, a family witnessed three flying saucers forming a triangle constellation before mysteriously vanishing; and in rural Florida, Taylor spotted an unusually bright star-like UFO that disappeared without explanation, accompanied by the distinct feeling of being watched. Each alien sighting presents compelling UFO evidence through detailed first-hand accounts, from the strange lights in the sky that prompted Gracie's family to flee, to Bridget's missing phone call and lost time, to the Egyptian family's collective silence after their alien spacecraft encounter, and finally to Taylor's bewilderment at the vanishing star-like object.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? Spring-Heeled Jack and the Gorbals VampireThis week, we explore two British urban legends: the Gorbals Vampire and Spring-heeled Jack.In 1954 Glasgow, hundreds of children armed with knives and homemade weapons descended on the Southern Necropolis cemetery hunting a supernatural entity with iron teeth that allegedly killed two local boys.Meanwhile, in Victorian London, Spring-heeled Jack terrorized citizens from 1837 to 1904, described as a well-dressed gentleman with glowing eyes who could make impossible leaps, breathe blue and white fire, and attack victims with metallic claws. Both cases sparked significant paranormal panic and were documented in the Victorian press. We debate whether these incidents represent historical mass hysteria or genuine supernatural encounters with entities from British folklore. In addition, we examine how Scottish urban myths, Victorian era monsters, and paranormal history might explain the phenomena, while considering how both stories reflect societal fears of their time.Or is it possible that Spring-heeled Jack might have been a demonic figure or one of the mysterious jumping entities from British supernatural folklore? Could the Gorbals incident represent children's folklore and cemetery legends manifesting during a period of societal tension?Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? The Skunk ApeDeep in the swamps and forests of the southeastern United States lurks the legendary florida cryptid known as the Skunk Ape, a close cousin to the more famous sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest.Standing between 5 and 8 feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds, this florida bigfoot has earned its distinctive name from the powerful sulfuric odor it reportedly emits. Historical sightings of this swamp creature date back to 1818, with Native American Seminole tribes referring to it as the Esti Capcaki, or "Hairy Giant," believing it to be the mystical protector of the woods. From the mysterious Myakka skunk ape photographs of 2000 to the numerous documented encounters in the Everglades, this southern bigfoot continues to captivate researchers and witnesses alike. The everglades monster has been the subject of multiple credible sightings by law enforcement officers, fire chiefs, and everyday citizens, with reports describing a massive, hair-covered humanoid that moves with surprising agility through the dense Florida wilderness. The creature's most distinguishing characteristics, beyond its imposing size and reddish-brown fur, are its distinctive four-toed footprints and that unforgettable stench that often announces its presence before it's even seen.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? Standing 7-8 feet tall with reddish-brown fur and weighing over 300 pounds, this bipedal creature is often considered the southeastern United States' answer to the Pacific Northwest's Bigfoot. Historical records date back to 1818, including Native American Seminole tribes who called it "Esti Capcaki" (the Furry Tall Man) and believed it to be a mystical protector of the forests. Notable sightings have been documented by law enforcement officers, fire chiefs, and countless civilians, with significant clusters of activity in the Everglades, Ocala National Forest, and various swamplands throughout Florida. David Shealy, a prominent Skunk Ape researcher, has dedicated his life to studying the creature and operates the Skunk Ape Headquarters, housing photographs, footprint casts, and research materials. The creature is known for its distinctive characteristics, including four-toed footprints, long arms that hang past its knees, and an ability to move swiftly through dense swamp terrain despite its size. While skeptics suggest it might be misidentified black bears with mange or elaborate hoaxes, continued sightings by credible witnesses and consistent physical descriptions across decades have maintained the Skunk Ape's status as one of America's most intriguing cryptozoological mysteries.
It's listener submission time and we have four strange stories for you this week!Nicole's Story: Greg, who died in a motorcycle accident, appeared to check on his baby son after death, and years later the child inexplicably described the exact way his father had died. Nicole also experienced a vivid vision where she found herself wearing moccasins in a snowy mountain landscape while crossing a summer street, suggesting a possible past life connection.Adrian's Parents' Story: Adrian's parents independently received accurate predictions about their future children from Ouija boards, and later shared an identical dream about meeting at a specific location. His father also survived a seemingly unsurvivable parachuting accident right when his grandmother had a premonition and called his mother to pray.Sofia's Story: Sofia experienced recurring encounters with dark figures in her hallway and other paranormal activity in her childhood home, which her mother attempted to combat by putting olive oil handprints on the walls as protection. The haunting followed her to new locations, including a black figure that waits outside her salon, which her mother (who dabbled in witchcraft while pregnant) can see.Molly's Story: Molly had an intensely vivid dream about a horrific gas chamber scenario in a concentration camp that left her with physical sensations upon waking. She also had a dream about being in a city under aerial attack two weeks before the Ukraine conflict began, and woke up with a bruise where she was struck by debris in the dream.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? In “How Pineywoods Cattle Bucks Big Beef,” Gravy producer Stephanie Burt takes listeners out to the rolling pastures of the South to meet Pineywoods cattle, a breed that's been grazing in the Southern region of the United States since the 1500s. The cow that some see as old fashioned is being considered in new ways when it comes to farming in the twenty-first century. Beef is big business in the U.S. In 2022, the country's beef consumption was the highest it's been since 2010, and the industry prizes big cows for efficient processing and big bottom lines. And this is despite the rise in what overall is termed “plant-based meat alternatives,” a response to the argument that raising cattle the way most American ranchers do, with mass production methods that don't take into account the health of the land, is a contributor to climate change. But not all cows are built the same, and one rare breed is gaining attention for its adaptability to the Southern environment. Pineywoods is well suited to the growing use of regenerative farming methods that are aiming to address beef-raising climate questions. It can positively impact a farm's ecosystem instead of harming it. Plus, it has an ability to withstand hot summers. And it tastes delicious. In this episode, Burt talks to D. Phillip Sponenberg, professor of Pathology and Genetics in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, to find out what makes Pineywoods perfectly suited to the American South. She also introduces listeners to three cattle ranchers experienced with the breed: Cristiaan Steenkamp of BDA Farms in Uniontown, Alabama; Will Harris of White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Georgia; and Mike Hansen of Ozark Akerz, a small farm in Coleridge, North Carolina. Together, they explain how Pineywoods contributes to the larger ecosystem of the South and how industry norms present barriers to its growth. Finally, chef Scott Peacock of Marion, Alabama, describes the distinctive flavor of Pineywoods beef on the plate. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A 55-year-old Pennsylvania man, Arthur "Art" Eugene Guty, Jr., once targeted in a murder-for-hire plot by his ex-wife, has been arrested in Las Vegas as the prime suspect in the death of his 26-year-old current wife, Nicole Zambrano. Nicole Zambrano's body was discovered at their Uniontown home on New Year's Day, following a missing person report filed by co-workers who became concerned when she failed to show up for work. The investigation intensified after Guty provided inconsistent and contradictory information about Zambrano's whereabouts. Zambrano, who last spoke with her family members on Christmas Eve and had not been spotted by neighbors since then, was reported missing by co-workers — not her husband — who worried when the housekeeper uncharacteristically did not show up for work for days. Uniontown Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik stated that Guty's evasive responses and false statements, including telling a neighbor they were headed to the Grand Canyon, raised suspicions. The neighbor, Bob Luick, recalled Guty expressing anger a month ago, suspecting Zambrano of infidelity and making a chilling remark, "If I find out she's messing around, I'll kill her." On Monday, Zambrano was found shot at her Uniontown home, leading to a homicide warrant against Guty, who was subsequently arrested in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Images released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department depict Guty on his knees, hands restrained behind his back. The case takes a disturbing twist as it unfolds against the backdrop of Guty's past troubles. In 2019, his ex-wife, Roxanne Guty, was accused of attempting to hire a hitman to kill him. However, she pleaded no contest in February 2021 to a misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person, resulting in probation and a directive not to contact Art Guty except through counsel for divorce proceedings. Authorities later obtained a search warrant and located him at the Mardi Gras Casino in Las Vegas with $100,000 cash on him after pinging his cell phone. "He was on his way, we believe, out of the country with a significant amount of cash and was going to avoid, or try to avoid, any responsibility for what happened here," said Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele. He's now facing charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault. As the investigation continues, Guty awaits extradition to Pennsylvania to face charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Alyssa and Hadley explore the haunting past of the Hardie-Coleman House—or, as it's better known online, the Lucy Murder House—in Uniontown, Alabama, where the remains of 13-year-old Allan Lucy were found buried beneath the front porch in January of 1994. Allan, who lived at the home with his adoptive parents, Phillip and Margaret Lucy, disappeared without a trace in May of 1985. In the months that followed, Jason Lucy, Phillip and Margaret's biological son, told classmates that his father killed Allan and buried him in the backyard. As they work to uncover what really happened, the hosts hear from former Uniontown resident David B. House, who explains why, at the time, no one believed Jason's story, and shares the rumors that were circulating about the Lucy family long before Allan disappeared. Later, in trying to understand why—even years after Allan Lucy's murderer was brought to justice—the house has still not recovered, Hadley and Alyssa discuss the environmental issues that have driven many residents out of Uniontown, and left those who remain fighting for justice of their own. Kaitlyn Johnson is a swimmer/crossfitter from Morgantown, WV who recently qualified for the 2024 Olympic Swim Trials in the 50 meter freestyle. Born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, she played different sports growing up but ultimately stuck with swimming. She continued to swim in college at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, ending her collegiate career as a 28x All American (one of only two people to achieve this in school history) and 9x school record holder. She retired from swimming after the 2016 Olympic Trials and found crossfit a couple years later. In 2022, after only swimming here and there since 2016, she decided to add swimming into her crossfit training as recovery once a week. She signed up for a local swim meet for fun in April 2022 to find herself qualifying for U.S. Summer Nationals in Irvine, California in July. At Nationals, she ended up placing 13th overall with two lifetime best swims, both times being under the 2024 Olympic Trial cut. Kaitlyn achieved qualification for the trials doing Crossfit 5x/week and only swimming once a week. Exclusive to WODcast listeners: 2POOD The official belt of USA Weightlifting.
