YHS on Monster Island returns and takes a look at the polarizing 2004 entry and finale of the Millennium series, Godzilla: Final Wars...and what better way to do that than have "The Tattooed Titan of Tokusatsu" Jacob Walsh reveal his Top 10 kaiju designs (or, more accurately, re-designs)? Our host minces no words as he discusses what went right, wrong...and very wrong...with the likes of Keizer Ghidorah, Anguirus, Monster X, and the entire Final Wars kaiju roster. On top of reviewing the film, Jacob and Jay touch on some recent toy news from Marusan, Star Ace/X-Plus, and compare the upcoming wacky Hedorah releases from Medicom Toy x Akashic Records and Swimmy Design Lab. Jay also provides a recap of Toku Toy Town's weekend at Retro Expo and his run-in with a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer! Of course, it wouldn't be YHS on Monster Island without weekly pick-ups...and though it's a light week on that front, it doesn't stop our dynamic duo of daikaiju devotees from detouring on topics such as Jay's fear of Harryhausen collecting and Super Mario Bros. toys. As always, please leave us a rating and review...and subscribe to the channel to get your latest on kaiju films, fandom, television, and toys! So it's come to this... we have a special announcement that feels like putting on an enormous clown nose. A clown nose big enough to fit a Godzilla. A Godzilla which may or may not have, at one point or another, fought a fellow kaiju named MONSTER X, which is also the name of some guys we know.
It's a three-part special! Kaiju meets Advance Wars in the loving videogame homage Kaiju Wars, Godzilla meets a smog monster in an Acid Jazz showdown, and the G8 Summit meets to see what to do about that Monster X striking back. This, and your continued rankings of all Kaiju Films in this week's special episode!

This episode of YHS on Monster Island is brought to you by the letter "X". "The Tattooed Titan of Tokusatsu" Jacob Walsh and his sidekick, Jay Key, tackle not one - but two- kaiju flicks from Shochiku: 1967's The X from Outer Space and 2008's follow-up, Monster X Strikes Back: Attack the G8 Summit. If you aren't already familiar with these films - hold on tight - because they offer a little bit of everything, from truly original kaiju design to moon dancing to famous cameos to Kim Jong-Il. Most notably, it demonstrates two very unique ways that kaiju can stop deadly missiles. So grab a cocktail, check for any Guilalanium, put on your headphones (make sure they aren't the brainwashing kind), and start chanting "Neci-Coma" - because YHS on Monster Island is taking you to GuiLALA-Land! In addition to reviewing these two movies, Jake and Jay discuss some big news items such as Apple TV+'s upcoming Monsterverse series, a new Marusan 350 BioGoji, and SH Monster Arts' Singular Point Rodan! Oh, and is there a new Guilala toy? Now that's timing. And don't forget weekly pick-ups!

Monster X host Shane Corson was part of a group of Bigfoot researchers that were harrassed by what very well could have been a Bigfoot while on a research trip in Washington State. Shane is joined by 3 other members of that excursion who share what they each experienced. Todd Hale, Chris Spencer and Rebecca Slick are field researchers who regularly spend time out in the woods collecting evidence for the existence of Bigfoot.
This week we review a parody film that also serves as a pseudo-sequel to The X from Outer Space titled Monster X Strikes Back: Attack the G8 Summit. Cameos and jokes abound, but is this film as funny as Guilala's design? Or does it run out of steam long before the credits roll? Listen and find out! Monster X Radio hosts Gunnar Monson and Shane Corson discuss Gunnar's recent Bigfoot documentary binge watching, Bigfoot TV shows, Small Town Monsters and Shane's trip to the nest site. Seth Breedlove and the Small Town Monster team have created a series of Bigfoot documentaries titled 'On the Trail of Bigfoot'. They will soon be filming another installment focused on the work of Washington State's Olympic Project (of which both Shane and Gunnar are members of). Seth and his team will be the first film crew allowed access to the nest site which has been well documented here on Monster X. Shane and Gunnar also discuss their efforts (along with Thomas Sewid) to bring Monster X to YouTube. You can check it out here https://www.youtube.com/c/MonsterXRadio1

It is difficult to take a piece of crap and turn it into something worth while. This may seem harsh, but it is very relevant. Earlier this year, we covered The X From Outer Space... and it didn't go too well. But 40 years later, they did a follow up and turned it into a parody movie. Was this a good decision? Join us and Jesse Candelori and find out!

On this episode of "On the Shoulders of Giants with Thomas Steenburg" Thomas and Julie discuss some interesting reports from her home state of North Carolina especially in the Uwharrie National Forest, which Julie happens to live just a few short miles from. Thomas is from British Columbia and has been researching the Sasquatch enigma since 1978 and is considered by many to be an "old school" investigator. He has authored three books on the topic: "The Sasquatch in Alberta"', 1989; “Sasquatch, Bigfoot, The Continuing Mystery", 1993; and "In search of Giants", 2000. Thomas has also co-authored two other titles: "Meet the Sasquatch", 2004 and "Sasquatch in British Columbia”, 2012. He has also written many articles and appeared on numerous television and Radio documentaries. Thomas is one of the last old school investigators who was privy to the stories and was friends with several of the “Squatchfathers”! Julie lives in her beautiful home state of North Carolina just outside of the Uwharrie Forest. She is intrigued by the possibility that the creature known as Sasquatch may exist and is a member of the Carolina Cryptid Field Research team. Powered by Sasquatch Coffee!

As Part Two of our discussion on Project Zoobook, Monster X continues the conversation with sasquatch researcher Amy Bue, and three very interesting & important members of the Project. We discuss a wide variety of topics on the show, engaging in some interesting questions. To top it off, we also get feedback from two of the individuals who were invited out to visit the Olympic Project's nest site in Washington State. Project Zoobook was started by Ohio's Amy Bue and a private group of primate zoologists interested in the possibility of Bigfoot being an unknown North American primate. It has since quickly grown to be an impressive collection of mainstream scientists working alongside dedicated Bigfoot field researchers from across the United States.
Monster X talks with Shane Land, Ph.D., and founder of the Hominology Magazine, about his NEW book coming out Nov 7th on Amazon- BIGFOOT ///UNCLASSIFIED///: An Unconventional Assessment. "Bigfoot ////UNCLASSIFIED////: An Unconventional Assessment" by L. Shane Land. Journey into the Bigfoot phenomenon with someone applying "a fresh set of eyes" to the Bigfoot question.'' Monster X welcomes sasquatch investigator Chris Spencer to the show to discuss long term audio placement in the field, as well as the use of pheremone chips. What exactly is a pheremone chip? Are pheremone chips all that they are cracked up to be? Can they possibly yield results and what pheremones are in use? Shane sits down with Chris to discuss this and a whole lot more.

Sick-Weird-Hard - Podcast #20 | by Stazma the Junglechrist (FR) Hailing from the same French stock as Monster X, Rotator and the infamous Peace Off imprint, Julien Guillot has been smashing up raves all across Europe since his first release on Peace Off in 2008 and is showing no signs of slowing down. Having taken the early breakcore ethos of genre mashing and amen splicing, Julien delivers his sound of rave, gabber, jungle and dub with a modern, tight production that seems synonymous with the French these days. Besides his Stazma alias he also produces weird acid / weird electro / weird ambient as Repeat Eater, is a Matering Sound Engineer and co-founded the label Concrete Collage. On this episode of "On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas" Julie and Thomas continue their discussions about habituation. What is it, why do some people do it, and why did Jane Goodall cease doing it with food in her research with primates? Why do people who claim to be habituating these creatures never seem to have any evidence to back up their claims? Tune in to find out! Julie is a Monster X Radio host and the host of Monster Xclusive's Eyewitness Enounter stories. She lives near the Uwharrie Forest in her beautiful home state of North Carolina. She delves into the history of the Sasquatch enigma and spends as much time investigating in the forest as she can. A milestone for the UTM research platform, controlling drones with brain waves, FAA approval for night flying, rules for sUAS get one step closer, more from the Drone Dealer Expo, and a Flirtey goes into the Smithsonian. Flirtey founder and CEO Matthew Sweeny News NASA Marks Success for Most Complex Drone Traffic Management Test Yet at FAA Test Sites A three-hour field test of NASA's UAS Traffic Management (UTM) research platform included 24 drones flying in all six FAA UAS test sites. Operators planned operations, entered flight plans, and used a variety of aircraft and software. Up to 22 drones were operated simultaneously. The UTM research platform checked for conflicts, approved or rejected the flight plans, and notified users of constraints. This Technical Capability Level One test addressed rural UAS operations within line-of-sight. University of Florida held the world's first brain-controlled drone race Sixteen pilots at the University of Florida used a brain-computer interface (BCI) to control DJI Phantoms down a 10-yard course. Each pilot was calibrated with electroencephalogram headsets measuring neuron activity, which was then bound to the controller for flight. Nocturnal UAV ops approved Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance has become the first commercial drone operator to be granted approval by the FAA to conduct UAV operations at night. Tremco plans to inspect buildings at night for energy leaks, rooftop damage, deteriorating façades, safety issues, etc. In partnership with Toronto-based Industrial SkyWorks, they've developed the SkyBEAM (Building Envelope Aerial Mapping) UAV using an Aeryon Skyranger quadcopter with HD video and infrared cameras. Big News: Small UAS Rule at OIRA for Final Review Law firm Hogan Lovells reports that “the FAA has sent the Small UAS NPRM to the White House for a final interagency review.” The Operation and Certification of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) rule must go through a review process at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) at the White House. OIRA received the FAA's Small UAS rule on April 20, 2016. Their review period averages 53 days. Interview with Drone Nerds from Drone Dealer Expo Continuing with Tim Trott's interviews recorded at Drone Dealer Expo, we bring you his conversation with Lance Knowles from Drone Nerds, Incorporated, a distributor for brands like DJI and Monster X heavylift craft for commercial applications. Tim and Lance talk about the impact of regulations, the responsibilities of drone manufacturers and dealers, knowledge exams and check rides for drone operators, and measuring commercial drone operator proficiency. Mentioned The Flirtey drone used to make the first FAA-approved delivery in the U.S. has been accepted into the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.
