What? You don't see the happy times? But they are right there!Right there inside you.Oh, I see. You have something that is keeping you from seeing and feeling and living the sparkling clear and happy times that are struggling to rise up from the depths of your soul.I see that you are worried. That's the problem.Worry is the cork that keeps the champagne of happiness from spraying a smile on your face and a sparkle in your eye and joy into your heartIf you will allow me, I will try to do for you what Julius Rosenwald and Thomas Jefferson did for me.Julius Rosenwald was an immensely successful businessman who used his money – all of it – to help people rise above their circumstances and experience the wonders of the world in which they lived. This is what Julius Rosenwald wrote to me 100 years ago:“Early in my business career I learned the folly of worrying about anything. I have always worked as hard as I could, but when a thing went wrong and could not be righted, I dismissed it from my mind.”Friend, when a thing goes wrong and cannot be righted, dismiss it from your mind.An army of people surround us whose only job is to make us fearful and afraid. You must not allow these people to capture your attention.Journalists have been shouting deceptive and inflammatory headlines at us since the days of the American Revolution. But the journalists and podcasters of today have discovered new ways of shouting. Emails and websites and Youtube and cable and streaming services promise, pledge and swear to keep us highly informed and deeply unhappy. They feed our worries like stokers feeding firewood into the boilers of steam trains. They want us to ride on their rails of steel so that they can take us where they want us to go.Don't ride their train. Jump off of it. Thomas Jefferson did.He said,“I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.”He went on to say,“Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper. The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”Thomas Jefferson avoided the news and said he was infinitely the happier for it.You should do it, too.Julius Rosenwald and Thomas Jefferson discovered that Jesus was telling the truth in Matthew chapter six when he said,“Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”Don't worry.Be happy.Roy H. WilliamsDavid Ackert is making his list and checking it twice — but he's no Santa Claus. The gifts David brings are powerful insights for professionals who want to grow. David Ackert challenges the long-held belief that success depends on building a massive network of connections. In his view, quantity is a distraction. The thing to do is cultivate a small, curated list of at least 9 not more than 30 “high-value” relationships with people who have the ability to help you reach your goals.Send everyone else a Christmas card.Rotbart goes roving with David Ackert this week, at MondayMorningRadio.com

Send us a textLooking for a wine that punches well above its price tag? The Compass Bridge Sonoma Pinot Noir from Trader Joe's might be your new favorite affordable discovery. This limited-edition $9.99 Pinot Noir comes from the powerhouse Delicato Family Vineyards, which recently acquired Coppola's Sonoma operations. Between these two wine giants, they've mastered the art of creating value-priced wines that deliver genuine quality without the premium price tag. What impressed me most about this Compass Bridge Pinot Noir is how it maintains authentic varietal character. At 14.5% alcohol, it could easily become overwhelming, yet it remains beautifully balanced with a medium-to-light body that Pinot lovers will appreciate. The flavor profile offers black cherry, raspberry, subtle herbs, and even hints of Dr. Pepper complexity, all with that characteristic Pinot Noir "funk" that might seem strange at first but quickly becomes addictive. While not as complex as premium Sonoma Pinots costing three or four times as much, this wine delivers surprising length, with flavors that linger pleasantly on the palate. It's part of a limited Trader Joe's collection that includes a $7.99 Chardonnay and $9.99 Cabernet Sauvignon, all from Sonoma County. If you enjoy discovering hidden gems and wines that overdeliver for their price, grab a bottle (or several) while you can. As with many Trader Joe's special wine finds, once this limited edition sells out, it's gone for good. Uncork a bottle tonight and experience how satisfying affordable wine can truly be!Check us out at www.cheapwinefinder.comor email us at podcast@cheapwinefinder.com

My conversation with Steve Hoffman was deep and engaging, largely due to his eloquence and profound self-reflection. Steve is a Minnesota tax preparer and a French-loving food & wine writer. I don't know if one person has ever been both of those things. His writing has garnered significant recognition, winning multiple awards, including the prestigious 2019 James Beard M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award. His work has been featured in Food & Wine, The Washington Post, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, and Artful Living. His first book, A Season for That: Lost and Found in the Other Southern France, was published this year. Steve doesn't consider himself retired, but he's already figured out that even in the present, you can start walking toward your future. He knows who he is, who he wants to be, and where those two things don't yet line up. I admire his tireless effort to become a better version of himself. Open a bottle of French wine, cleanse your palette, and get ready to imbibe some happy retirement wisdom from Midwest Francophile Steve Hoffman. 00:00-Introductions 04:44-A Rediscovery of Old Loves 06:32-An “Oscar” in Food Writing 12:16-Tennis for Longevity 15:08-An Ideal Retirement 18:12-Still: The Art of Noticing 20:17-Couch Time 27:36-Compounding Interest in Happiness 33:23-A Home Base to Return To 40:51-Retirement is an Extension, Not an Escape 43:13-A Transitional Character 49:07-Busyness as a Distraction Learn more about your ad choices. It was a totally fun pirate story with a lot of action and adventure that is still enjoyable to watch. You can still see it too. Listen in to hear how. Shua checked out Netflix's new anime adaptation of a pirate story called One Piece. The live action does a great job of using the weird, anime-like characteristics of the original cartoon. Enjoy Pirates! This week we celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day! In addition to annoying all your friends and family members by sounding like Long John Silver, you can also indulge in some pirate movies. Pirates have been characters in movies almost since the beginning of cinema. The adventure of swashbuckling adventurers made for an exciting movie-going experience for everyone. So we got to see Errol Flynn swinging from ship to ship and Kevin Kline singing very old Gilbert and Sullivan tunes and even Bob Hope as the buccaneer hero. Of course we also get classics like Disney classics Treasure Island, Peter Pan, and Pirates of the Caribbean and kept the genre going. There are so many more great adventures we can enjoy and some of them are on TV like Our Flag Means Death and One Piece. Plus we can even play video games like Broadsides and the Monkey Island Series. So long live pirates! (At least the harmless kind) Do you want to maraud and embezzle and even hijack? Well, drink up me hearties, yo ho! First person that emails me with the subject line, “A pirate's life for me” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. Uncork the champagne: we have a Trump indictment just in time for this week's show! Time to CONFESS! Listeners write in for this week's episode using our anonymous Confessional to detail their deep, dark, dirty secrets! Is there a nuanced interpretation to the ongoing debate about the national security risks Tiktok presents? It's ok to not love everything about Joe Biden - we don't believe in turning politicians into our entire personality. How do the hosts approach diet and fitness from a sustainable, healthy perspective? Is it normal for our sex drive to reduce as we get older? Managing expectations with family can be hard, especially when coming out. Should people feel guilty about taking advantage of working from home to sneak in a quick nap? We receive an update about a previous Confessional submission! This week's recommendations are practical with a side of entertainment: 'Did you know' that alarm clocks only snooze for 9 minutes because original clocks mechanically couldn't snooze for 10? (Andrew), don't forget your sunscreen! (Laura), and Showtime's 'Yellowjackets' (Pam). And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon: A new poll conducted by real estate advice website Home Bay inspires us to talk about our respective cities, and why people may (or may not) want to live there. It's "Atlanna" not "Atlanta." Dallas being in the top list of cities people want to move to seems wild. Why don't people want to move to Pam's home city of San Francisco?!
