EDC Las Vegas has moved from May to October and Burning Man is canceled for 2021, but California is loosening concert restrictions. HÄANA talks about her musical journey as a violinist, vocalist and electronic musician and how a trip to Iceland inspired her. HÄANA performed at Coachella 2017, the same day as Lady Gaga, at the DoLab in the afternoon heat. She explains why she and the avant garde ballerinas who perform with her had to stay away from the Super Soakers.   We talk about the magic of the DoLab and how it is a launchpad for artists and also a place where big artists can come back and perform secret sets, including Skrillex and Rüfüs Du Sol.  HÄANA shares experiences of performing at Burning Man alongside Skrillex on an art car tour, what happened when the lights went out at CES and playing in Abu Dhabi. Ed Lee - Do What You Feel [*Unreleased*] Q & A with Ed Lee 1. If you could eternally be stuck in one year's music scene, which year would it be & why? I'd love to travel back to the Paradise Garage in the early 80s and hear, experience Larry Levan first hand. I read how he could make certain groups of people go crazy on the dancefloor. 2. What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a DJ? As an attendee? Playing on a boat going across the Thames in London stands out. Floating passed Parliament while playing house music. One of my first records I brought was Jeff Mills - Kat Moda EP, I had a bit of a 360 moment when hearing him play The Bells in Space Ibiza. He was playing live with a Roland 909 doing some cool fills. 3. What is one track that never gets old to you no matter how many times you play it? Hard to name one but I'll give you three that I have rediscovered again recently. Electroliners - Loose Caboose (Bassbin Twins Remix) Classic breaks track that still works well today. Electribe 101 - Talking With Myself Before Billy Ray Martin did loving arms, it also had a really cool Frankie Knuckles remix. Microthol - Heliosphere An obscure electro track that has so much emotion. It came on limited clear vinyl. 4. If you could produce a track with anyone right now who would it be? There's so many great artists out there some that come to mind are, Jamie XX, Four Tet, John Talobot, Pional, Justin Martin, Koze... The list could go on 5. What advice would you give to an aspiring DJ? Just keep plugging away, there will be ups and downs. Remember why you got into it from the beginning. For me it was theI music and bringing people from all walks of life together. 6. If you could choose any venue or location to perform at where would it be? The Do Lab stage at Coachella looks special also one the Dirtybird campouts would be on my list. 7. What animal best describes you? In the Chinese zodiac I'm a dog, that pretty much describes me. Loyal, loving, needs a run out in the park, a little slobbery, loves food! 8. Name one thing you do aside from music that keeps you sane. I like to people watch some days, letting the world go by while you sit and take it all in. 6.15.18

Proud to be a woman in a male dominated industry, she employs an empathetic management style known as “compassionate leadership”, which is instrumental in understanding how individuals think, feel and get motivated. She sees this as an invaluable tool in retaining and grooming talent so that each of her team members have the opportunity to reach their highest potential both in the office and at home.Brown Girls Rising is a partnership with Nylon Espanol to elevate the conversation of feminist action, leadership, community involvement, and culture. "We are always looking at ways to curate and create more diversity in our community." - Monica Fernandez In this episode, we chat with Do LaB’s Executive Producer, Monica Fernandez about how she made a way for herself in a male dominated workplace. She also, goes on to talk about how they advice she gave herself back then probably wouldn’t be the advice she’d give young girls today.“I felt like pulling back my femininity, I started wearing more black and I always wore heels so I can be tall. It helped me be heard but, now looking back I don’t know how I feel about that anymore...”Monica also details one of her experiences with racism and otherness, she goes on to say how that has changed how she shows up in the workplace today.“I want to create an even playing for everybody. Whether it’s an actual playing field or the workplace. I want people to look at people as just people.”Audrey and Yvette talk about their experiences with raves (or lack thereof), how they deal with feminism in the workplace, and growing up with otherness."I want people to look at people as just people" - Monica FernandezThis episode, Brown Girls Rising Episode 15, can be found at BrownGirlsRising.com or on iTunes. This episode was recorded in sunny Downtown Los Angeles at Maker City LA.

He was on the bill with our pal, Krafty Kuts, and two of our own, Tamo and Zach Moore. For his appearance on the show this week, DJ Wolfie has thrown together this seventy-minute RIPEcast exclusive mix entitled, "Space Cowboys", a skillful arrangement of several different styles and tempos (breakbeat, house, nufunk and dubstep) which also includes two of his own remixes. He uses six channels of beats, meodies, hooks and accents to seamlessly blend an auditory garden of danceable delights. DJ Wolfie connects deeply with the dancers, and is known for exciting peak hour sets. Each Live set is backed by hours of rehearsal and prep work in the studio, custom tailoring the latest sounds to keep the evenings experience fresh and new. He plays world class festivals such as Coachella, Optimus Alive festival in Portugal, Electric Daisy Carnival, The Do Lab's Lightning in a Bottle, Opulent Temple at the Burning Man Festival, and many other 2000-4000 person festivals.
