This past week, President Trump suspended a program to expand the country’s network of electric vehicle chargers. It’s the latest in his series of efforts to undo Biden-era policies encouraging EV adoption. But in some parts of the country, EVs and other low-carbon technologies are becoming more popular not because of government policies, but because they make economic sense. Ali Rogin reports. How did the Los Angeles fires get so bad? Listen to this episode as we discuss how the Los Angeles fires are not natural disasters but policy-made disasters. California Democrats' disastrous policies led to no water in the Palisades reservoir, power being shut off, budget cuts to LAFD, and insurance companies pulling out of California. While Los Angeles was under a red flag warning, LA Mayor Karen Bass still went off to Ghana representing the Biden administration. Fires inevitably start during red flag warnings, but these fires should never have gotten as deadly as they did - all due to “going green” and progressive policies. This is not an episode you want to miss!

It's no secret that climate change has had a massive effect on population health, but it's also impacting healthcare business. Did you know that energy costs have gone up by 28% in the past five years? Health systems in particular can shave percentage points off their annual costs by reducing their energy consumption—but there is both a knowledge gap and an action gap keeping leaders from taking advantage of the opportunity. Advisory Board's Strategy Summit on September 10-11 is all about the pivots health systems need to make for a sustainable future – no better way to kick off our lead-up to the event than by taking that quite literally and talking about environmental sustainability. In this episode, host Abby Burns invites Advisory Board expert Miles Cottier to break down how and why health business leaders need to prioritize environmental sustainability. They explore the financial case for moving to renewable energy sources, how regulatory pressures may (or may not) shape the future of environmental action, and what leaders can do today to support their green initiatives. This is probably ignorance on my part but my eyebrow always went crooked when I heard digital agencies, hosting companies, saas products, or any online entrepreneur talking about how they're a “green” company. It's not like we're a manufacturing company or chemical plant with waste and pollutants. We work on a computer at home…so how can we “go green?” Use less paper? Recycle old equipment? What else can we do?Well, it turns out there are a lot of ways to contribute to sustainability and to do our part in protecting our environment even while working from home or in a coworking space as a web designer. That's why I'm excited to bring back onto the podcast Adela Mei, a trusted source for this topic because, while she's a web designer and strategist, she came from a previous career in environmental work and saw much of what most of us don't see first hand while working in the amazon. From what we as web designers can do day to day to help contribute to sustainability, to the surprising toll data storage takes on the environment globally and more, I found this conversation very educational and eye opening. And side note, if you heard the recent podcast on getting grant funding, one aspect to help your cause is to have green initiatives in your business (and on your website). So you could take what you learn in this convo and apply it to your green page if you're looking for just one additional aspect to help you get grant funding in your business. We cover:Going Green as a Web DesignerImpacts of Green Web DesignPersonal and Business Environmental ResponsibilityGreen Practices for Web DesignersGoing Green in Technology and BusinessSustainability and Green Business TipsIf you have any other tips for “going green” as a web designer, feel free to drop us a comment at joshhall.co/333.View all Web Design Business Podcasts with show notes and full transcriptions at: https://joshhall.co/podcastSupport the Show.Join Web Designer Pro™ before we hit the 250 member cap!https://joshhall.co/pro
