IN THE STREETS FOR DEMOCRACY IN FLORIDA, OHIO & AT THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS/POWER PLANTS GREE-GREE # 153 begins with the great WENDI LEDERMAN's harrowing accounts of gathering signatures for Florida's pro-choice referendum. You can't hear these stories without worrying for the lives of those pounding the pavement for what's left of our democracy. RUTH STRAUSS and JUSTIN LEBLANC join in the dialog on this incredibly important life/death isue. Ohio's RACHEL COYLE explains the astounding “you can't make this stuff up” madness that's overtaken the Buckeye State on the issues of abortion, pot, democracy and more. At a key moment she connects with the great RAY MCCLENDON, hopefully leading to more grassroots democracy in the swing state heartland. STEVE CARUSO and SANDY BOLZENIUS also report in from Columbus with the latest mich-a-gass. Wendi then reports again, this time about the hideous Cop City project in Atlanta with a terrible fascistic crack-down on the basic rights of pro-democracy protestors. In our second hour we leap into the nuclear power issue and the desperate need to shut the Diablo Canyon reactors and all others throughout the world. The great KEVIN KAMPS of Beyond Nuclear joins LINDA SEELEY of the San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace (www.mothersforpeace.org) to discuss the strategies of fighting sick atomic reactors in Michigan and California. We also hear from DONNA GILMORE, TORGEN JOHNSON, TATANKA BRICCA, JENNIFER TANNER, ROBERT FREEHLING, KARL GROSSMAN, PAT MARIDA , MYLA RESON and more help us navigate the absolutely essential path to making our state and world post-nuclear. We also hear from DONNA GILMORE, TORGEN JOHNSON, TATANKA BRICCA, JIM HEDDLE, MARY BETH BRANGAN, JENNIFER TANNER, ROBERT FREEHLING, KARL GROSSMAN, PAT MARIDA , MYLA RESON and more help us navigate the absolutely essential path to making our state and world post-nuclear.
DIABLO ARMAGEDDON*ARIZONA BRAKEY*GRASSROOTS CONGRESS Our Green Grassroots Emergency Election Protection zoom opens with a tribute from WENDI LEDERMAN to Women's Equality. We also honor the great HOWARD ZINN, who would have been 100 years old this month. Zinn completely upended the popular view of our nation's story, and his PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES remains a foundational document. Thank you, Howard!!! We then do a deep dive into the decrepit, dangerous, earthquake-surrounded Diablo Canyon Nukes at San Luis Obispo, CA. Governor Gavin Newsom is pushing to keep them open indefinitely despite a broad-based agreement to shut them in 2024-5. The ramifications for the future health, safety, economy and ecological survival of the human race are without parallel. We hear from DONNA GILMORE, KEN COOK, DANETT ABBOTT, ACE HOFFMAN, MYLA RESON, JUSTIN LE BLANC, TATANKA BRICCA, LINDA SEELEY and many more. Arizona's great JOHN BRAKEY tells us of major victories there. Led by Wendi Lederman, we hear from grassroots activists ????

Today we’re talking about avoiding a nuclear crisis. Though the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in southern California was shut down in 2013, there are still major consequences that we could face because of the inefficient storage of nuclear waste. I'm joined today by two women whose expertise will not only enlighten, but hopefully spur us into taking the appropriate action to avoid a future nuclear crisis. Carrie Woodland, CEO of California Healthy Planet Solutions and founder of We The People San Diego, joins me today in an attempt to increase awareness of the San Onofre crisis and to explain why this is more than just a local issue - it's a global issue that affects everyone. Donna Gilmore, founder of San Onofre Safety, joins us to talk about the highly radioactive lethal nuclear waste being stored just north of Camp Pendleton in San Diego County. She shares how we can each take part in having basic storage requirements changed to eliminate the thin and inefficient canisters that are currently in use for the storage of this nuclear waste. We Discuss: Why new years resolutions have built-in problems and are inefficient for real change How resetting and course correcting are positive ways to encourage better choices The very serious situation that exists at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in California Why this potential nuclear crisis is not just local to San Diego and is a global issue Why the waste storage canisters are not at a standard they should be to keep us safe How these canisters are vulnerable to short-term cracking and environmental exposure What can be done to raise awareness and take action before a nuclear crisis occurs For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com
Donna Gilmore of San Onofre Safety with the latest bombshell revelation about the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s inadvertent admission of a lie about the canisters at San Onofre.
San Onofre nuclear nightmares continue: San Onofre Safety's Donna Gilmore w/latest bombshell on dangerous spent fuel incompetence & NRC/Edison lies. Excerpts from speakers at the October 8 music/rally Songs for SONGS (San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station – get it?) at San Clemente's famous Belly Up music club: Report on a videotaped Welcome by Gregory Jaczko, former Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Ian Cairns is a former champion surfer who was influential in establishing the world professional surfing circuit and particularly the World Championship Tour. Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Ian has lived in California for 27 years and has family in Laguna Beach. Cathy Iwane was living in Japan with her husband and two children when the Fukushima Daiichi triple meltdown happened. She shares how that event play out in her personal life and led to her leaving that country with her two children. Leona Morgan is a member of the Nuclear Issues Study Group, Haul No, and Diné No Nukes, and she traveled from her home in New Mexico to address the crowd on nuclear colonialism and the range of nuclear problems in her state. Filmmaker Adam Salkin gave a powerful presentation, based not only on what he has learned about nuclear in the process of shooting his latest film, but because it's an important part of his personal history growing up in the shadow of the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, just north of Los Angeles. A report on the speech by Admiral Len Hering on the need for risk management and why San Onofre scares him. (I was asked not to use the audio of his speech on Nuclear Hotseat, but a video has been posted and is available in its entirety HERE.)

SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR NEAR-MISS - A Nuclear Hotseat Full-Length SPECIAL Featuring: Charles Langley and Nina Babiarz of PublicWatchdogs return to Nuclear Hotseat to paint the picture of how Southern California Edison, Holtec, and the NRC continue to mishandle the forever-deadly radioactive legacy of San Onofre. The shocking statement by the San Onofre OSHA worker, whistleblower and HERO who blew everyone away (fortunately just figuratively… for now). It involves more than 30,000 lbs. of highly radioactive used fuel rods, equal to One Chernobyl of radiation that almost fell 18 feet! Doubletalking points from Southern California Edison’s Tom “Twitchy” Palmisano, showing that SCE was ready to “manage” awareness of the accident if necessary, BUT NOT TO REVEAL IT TO THE PUBLIC! Donna Gilmore of SanOnofreSafety.org , trying to call out Palmisano’s statements as a lie, which got her shouted down by the Edison cabal.
