If you've ever felt like you're doing everything “right” with your health but still not seeing results, this episode is for you. I sit down with Dr. Jessica Knurick, a PhD in nutrition science and registered dietitian with over 15 years of experience in chronic disease prevention, to uncover why Americans are getting sicker. Spoiler: it's not just about diet or exercise—it's about the systems shaping our lives in ways we don't even realize. We dive deep into how our food environment, healthcare structure, and political systems were built for profit, not people, and how that reality quietly shapes everything from what ends up in our grocery stores to who can afford preventive care. We also tackle the viral health debates taking over social media—like the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, raw milk, and claims about Tylenol and autism—using the latest scientific research to separate fact from fiction. You'll leave feeling empowered to take action not just in your own kitchen, but in your community and at the ballot box.

This week we discuss the changing landscape of player health. Players no longer crawl and scrape to be on the field like they once did before guaranteed contracts, but do we think that's necessarily a bad thing? For our This Week In Baseball, we discuss Rickey breaking the single season stolen base record and stolen bases as a concept. Have stolen bases simply fallen out style in recent years or have they been deemed too risky buy the Moneyball and overoptimization crowds present in today's game? Our Hall of Famer this week is pitcher Mickey Welch. He presents us with bonkers complete games and innings pitched as many of his 19th century colleagues did, but was it good enough to garner our blessing for Cooperstown? In our singlular parting shot his week discuss the fate that befell J.R. Lesley Logan 0:03 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:44 Hi, Be It babe. How are you we're getting towards the end of August. Can you believe it? It is like the it's like the end of summer, this is when we start to get really sad about things, or maybe you're at the end of winter where you are, and you're like, thank God. So, so anyways, we're about to enter a different season in the world, and so I just want to say, make sure you take time for yourself to reflect back on what you did like about what you did, and what you want to change, because you have plenty of months to do that. Just plenty of time. There is, if we make it, you take time. And also, we don't try to be perfect, perfect about it, right? So on this episode, I share something that inspired me. I share one of yours. Hopefully it inspires you that there are wins everywhere in your life. I share a win of mine, and I share a mantra which may or may not have been skipped on those last three. Sometimes, again, I'm like, oh, I'm good. That was a great episode. And then I'm like, oh, there's a mantra. This is what happened, so I apologize if you missed the mantra. Lesley Logan 1:36 All right. So here we go. This inspired me, Seven Oddly Specific Spoken Affirmations. So, Your Spoken Spells for the Everyday. I kind of like, I like weird things like this, so hopefully you do, too. So we'll always put the link in the show notes, in case you want to, like, save any of them for your own life. And I would love to know which ones you saved. You can even send it in, you can DM us. You could also send in your wins and questions to the beitpod.com/questions. All right, so Seven Oddly Specific Affirmations, an affirmation for when time feels scarce and the to-do list won't quit. Ready? I am not behind. I am exactly where I need to be. Time expands for what matters, and I move through my tasks with ease. I release the illusion of urgency. What is mine to do will get done. That's for when you have an endless to do list. Okay. An affirmation for creative blocks and trust in your flow. I am a channel, not a critic. My creativity is alive and abundant. I do not force. I follow. I allow the ideas to move through me as they wish, knowing what an inspiration is cyclical and never lost. An affirmation for spring cleaning and clearing stagnant energy. So I know it's not springtime, but you know what it might be time to clear some stagnant energy where you are. As I clear my space, I clear my mind, I release what no longer aligns, making room for new energy to flow. My home is a reflection of me open, fresh and ready for what's next, a spoken manifesto for body gratitude beyond just movement. My body is not a problem to solve. My body is not waiting to be fixed. My body is a home, a landscape, a masterpiece in motion. I live here and I live well. A chant for expressing your personal style of confidence. I wear what makes me feel alive. My style is not for approval. It is my own joy. And I am bold. I am effortless. My style is extension of my inner beauty. A spell to banish the energy of an ex. Yes, really. I release what no longer holds me. I cut the cords. I reclaim my energy. I call my heart back home. What is gone is gone, and I no longer open doors to the past. An affirmation disrupt to disrupt self-doubt at work. I'm an asset, not an accident. I know my value. I own my ideas. I bring value to the team. My efforts are enough. I release the need to over-explain or prove myself. I already belong. So, hopefully those were fun for you. They were really fun for me. Lesley Logan 4:12 All right, time for a win of yours. All right. This is from Charlotte Coker. We know her from Agency, and she wrote, got a new private client who has never done Pilates, and she's loving it. She wants to attend two to three times weekly, heading to inbound studio shortly to attend for workshop with Carrie Pagès. Carrie is a dear friend of mine, so of course, it's so fun for me. So Charlotte, I hope you had the best time at Carrie's studio. Way to invest in yourself and give yourself permission to go do something that like lights you up, and way to be so passionate that someone who's never done Pilates before not only wants to do it with you, but wants to do it multiple times a week. That's huge. That's a big deal. Getting anyone to go from zero to three times in a week is a big deal. So congratulations. Thanks for sharing that with us. You guys, just being like, excited about what you do goes a long way. And I know not all of you are in business for yourself, and so that's not the point. But like, you are a magnet for great people to be in your lives. If you're passionate about things. I'm not saying, like, lie and fake it, but like, be it till you see it is about going well, who is it that I want to be? If the person I want to be doesn't complain and judge and criticize and mope, then what would I be doing? How would I be acting if I was already on the other side of this, right? And then it will help you. Oh, I need that version of me would have done therapy. That version of me would have moved. That version of me would have taken that new job, whatever it is, right? Like it helps you filter out what you're going to do. So thank you, Charlotte. Lesley Logan 5:40 Okay, a win of mine. I'm really proud of myself. I've got all my annual visits done. So, dermatologist, the mammogram, gynecologist, blood work, all is done. So, so excited to have to say that and share that and well, how is it a win? Because there's always a reason to postpone those things. There's always a reason to postpone those things. And when you do, my loves, you suffer because you actually, your body is able to, kind of like, tolerate some things. You can start to tolerate feeling moody, you can start to tolerate feeling uncomfortable. You can start to tolerate, oh, I'm just getting older, so that's why I have this or that. No, some of these things have solutions, right? And so I'm not saying, like, become obsessive, but get your annuals done. And I when I talked about a mammogram a year ago, I had a bunch of people, maybe not like, a dozen, but like, at least seven people from around the world going I heard mammograms aren't worth doing. And I said, oh, did they suggest something else for you? And they're like, No. And I'm like, why on earth would you listen to someone say that something doesn't work, but then they don't provide an option that does? You guys, like that kind of shit pisses me off, because making women scared of things that could save their lives, but not offering an alternative that will save their life. Fuck that like I'm not okay with that. So yeah, mammograms can miss things, and maybe they're not great for you, but they also can do ultrasounds, right? There's other things you can do. Please do not let people who sound very confident scare the heck out of you, out of preventative measures that can keep you from getting sick or dying, right? Please do your research. It's really, really, really important to me that you hear that and that you know that, like, do the research about and not, and this is the hard thing, right? Oh, when you hear people say, oh, go do your own research. A lot of the research out there that's a bunch of shit, because it's just some people, like, preponderance of crap scaring you. So truly, it's gonna be hard, especially flummo states, and they've gotten rid of some stuff, but, but do, do call your doctors? Do find out like, well, where, where did you get that information? Where can I read about it? How can what's the best resources I can look at? For the pros and cons, for me, they can help you, right? So don't go off on some influencer who says I'm a wellness doctor. Like, go, go. I'm not one. So go find go. Like, talk to the doctors that you'd love and trust and ask them where they you can do the research so that you can arm yourself with the best information they are in practice, they're not perfect. We don't do perfect around here. So anyways, I am so proud. I got all those done, and it's I got them done before the summer tour, so I don't have to worry about it, and now I can enjoy the rest of the year. Start them again next year, but we got to take care of ourselves. You know, getting older is not for the weak. It just really, really isn't. And so that's why I do Pilates. That's why I wear a weight vest. That's why I I check on my hormones. It's why I bring on all the guests that we bring on to help you make sure you can be till you see it all the way into the very end. Hopefully it's over 100 having the time of your life, enjoying what you do. Lesley Logan 8:39 Anyways, I do end these episodes usually with a mantra, so let me give you yours. Holy moly, can't believe this. We're coming okay, oh, this is great. I nourish myself with kind words and joyful foods. I nourish myself with kind words and joyful foods. I nourish myself with kind words and joyful foods. I love that go. Go be kind to yourself. Be your own best friend. All right, share this with a friend who needs to hear it and until next time, Be It Till You See It. Lesley Logan 9:09 That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. Talk quickly turns to Tamra's “former fatty” photo of Jenn, which Gina says Heather told her about. Heather arrives fresh from Paris, followed by Tamra, and the atmosphere is instantly awkward. The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
Would you die for your kids? Most dads would. But would you live for them? In this powerful episode of the Dad Edge Podcast, I sit down with Andrew Jax—father of three, Australian natural bodybuilding champion, and founder of the “Ditch the Dad Fat” program. Known as the “6 Pack Dad,” Andrew shares how optimizing your health isn't just about looking good—it's about leading with strength, energy, and integrity at home. We explore the silent leadership of fatherhood, why most men's health declines after marriage, and how to reverse that trend with small, sustainable changes. Andrew breaks down the real cost of saying “I don't have time,” the importance of emotional and physical energy for our families, and how you can enjoy your pizza and beer—and still lose the dad bod. Whether you're already committed to health or just thinking about getting back in the game, this episode will fire you up and equip you with strategies you can use today. Health Is a Legacy Issue Your kids aren't just watching—they're modeling. Leading with health means passing on a generational inheritance of physical, emotional, and mental well-being. They'll follow your example more than your advice. 2. Self-Care Is Not Selfish Skipping your workout may feel noble in the moment, but long-term neglect robs your family of your energy, presence, and vitality. When you take care of yourself, you increase your capacity to take care of others. 3. You Don't Need Hours or Perfection You don't need five workouts a week or chicken and broccoli forever. Andrew's clients are busy dads and business owners who see results with three efficient sessions per week and a flexible, sustainable eating plan. 4. Daily Accountability Changes Everything Forget once-a-week check-ins. Andrew's clients get results through daily guidance and support. If you want real change, don't go it alone—build a system that keeps you on track every single day. 5. Lead at Home Like You Lead at Work Andrew's success isn't just in coaching—it's in how he shows up as a husband and father. He shares how servant leadership, spiritual alignment, and presence fuel his connection with his wife and kids every day.
