S'estan posant de moda els jocs de "llapis i paper" o el que a la BoardGameGeek denomina la família dels jocs Roll 'n Write?. Nosaltres creiem que sí. L'any 2014 van treure el cap a la fira d'Essen productes com Doodle City, dels mateixos autors danesos que signen aquest nou Avenida, o Rolling Japan (una raresa d'Hisashi Hayashi de la que ja vam parlar al podcast aquí). Aquest any tenim jocs de "paper i llapis" publicats per moltes editorials... alguns millors que d'altres, però només d'aquells que realment valguin la pena en parlarem pròximament. Els motius d'aquesta fal·lera dels editors per treure aquest tipus de jocs són diversos, però els principals són aquests: - Acostumen a ser el que diem "solitaris multijugador", i per tant poden ser jugats des d'una sola persona fins a molta gent alhora... l'únic límit és la quantitat de papers del bloc. - Com hem dit, el límit és el bloc... un cop s'esgota (si no has fet còpies o no ho has escanejat), has de tornar a comprar un bloc o, si l'editorial no en ven de blocs, un altre joc per poder tornar a jugar. Per tant, són jocs amb certa obsolescència programada (tot i que amb els temps que corren, fer-li a un joc més de 50 partides... és tota una fita!). - Finalment, l'argument més potent: són molt barats de produir i com que com a productes es barregen amb altres jocs de taula amb un PVP més alt... es pot augmentar lleugerament el PVP que realment haurien de tenir si ens fixem únicament en els components. Personalment m'estimo més pensar que aquest petit "sobrepreu" també va destinat a pagar una idea original com la que a Avenida se'ns proposa... tot i que no sé si els autors confirmaran això. Per acabar, vull que quedi constància (també per escrit) del pal o esbroncada a Morapiaf, l'editor en castellà d'aquest joc. Mai, però MAI, hauria d'haver-se dit Avenida per aterrar a un mercat amb recorregut i cultura vitivinícola suficient com per a entendre molt millor que aquest joc hauria d'haver-se dit Vendimia en castellà o Verema en català. Editar requereix prendre decisions com aquesta. Què en penseu vosaltres? Quins són els vostres jocs de "llapis i paper" preferits?

Dexterity games, dismissed by many in the board game world as children's toys (whereas, by contrast, we laud them as children's toys), can offer a unique window into the player's soul. A fine dexterity game is a crucible in which one's true character emerges. Are you an assertive, grandiose table-hog capable of great feats but undone by hubris? Are you a small-minded, plodding dilettante lacking in ambition or imagination? Is there a difference between a fruit salad and a fruit cup? I mean, the first question is whether a fruit cup contains a fruit salad, or if the contents are some other substance; then one can query whether the cup and its contents are a gestalt whole. Let us not forget the prospect of a fruit cup of Theseus, whereby each fruit piece is removed and replaced with an equivalent fruit (I would ask what an equivalent fruit is, but that's getting sidetracked)--is it the same fruit cup? Heraclitus would say you can't take a bite of the same fruit salad twice.
