Here is your chance to see if you can solve the crime before the solution is revealed to you by the "radio police". 1947-1950 from Mutual Broadcasting System. Syndicated to local radio stations so they could use them for brief interludes to promote some event or local business. The show had several elongated organ music breaks to allow local stations to do their things. Fun to try to solve the crime... listen for the clues. This track will be in the "Five Minute Mystery" Playlist on this Soundcloud.com Podcast.

Audio Introduction gives background on this Mutual Radio Network "Interactive" radio series from 1947-50. This is not to be confused with the Five Minute Mystery shorts... this is a 30 minute program with 5 individual mysteries which are attempted to be solved by selected members in the audience and compared to the professional sleuths who reveal the answers. If an audience member correctly identifies the suspect... they win a prize of $5.00... hey, it was 1947... my father was earning $25 a week at the time. See if you can solve the mysteries presented and you will win absolutely nothing, but it will make you feel good! This track will be stored in the "Mystery-Detective-Crime" Playlist on this Soundcloud.com podcast.
Another "Five Minute Mystery" to see if you can "out sleuth the sleuth!" In this case the FBI is trying to solve the case of some stolen jewels... can you determine who stole the jewels before the FBI agent solves the case? Give it a try and if you do solve the case... and you are not a FBI agent, well maybe there is a new career waiting for you! Good luck! This will be stored in the "Five Minute Mystery" Playlist.
On we have a replay of sorts. What is nice is that with the exception of a crazy Five Minute Mystery all of our stories came from you guys. We have two from Scotland and one from India. On this time we are full of spooky goodness! We have a brand new original Five Minute Mystery starring The British Guy! We review a Heathcliff Lennox mystery titled The Curse of Braeburn Castle. We will hear two listener tales that take us to a creepy hospital encounter and a Halloween night in a graveyard. Our featured story is the ghostly tale titled The Signal Man. Then we end the show with an original ghost story written by 11-year-old Amelia Allison. Featured Story - The Signal Man Our featured story comes from a little-known radio series called Beyond Midnight. It was a South African radio horror anthology that ran from 1968 to 1970 on Springbok Radio. This is a strange story, to say the least. At first, it seems to be a simple tale of ghosts haunting a man to the point of near insanity. But there is so much more. Hang out until the end and all will be made clear. The story is titled The Signal Man and it first aired in South Africa in the year 1969. Other Stories Include - Terasongoon, The Curse of Braeburn Castle, Ghost On The Nightshift, It Happened One Halloween, The Signal Man, and My friendly Ghost. Time to dig out that Sherlock Holmes magnifying lens and your deerstalker hat ... perhaps even a curved bowl pipe and see if you can figure out this "Five Minute Mystery" before the criminal is revealed to you... see if you can identify the clue(s) that lead to the charge of an "Ebb Tide Murder"... This track will be in the "Five Minute Mystery" Playlist.
These short programs were sent out to local stations and some network station during the late 40's and early 50's as "Time Fillers" where a station that had a 5 minute open space in their programming could toss in a Five Minute Mystery episode... and with all the organ music breaks, have a chance to get in some local announcements about the station or even some commercials. They were fun for listeners to try to solve the crimes before the solution is revealed... Good luck. This track will live in the Playlist "Five Minute Mysteries"
On this time we have a brand new Five Minute Mystery where diamonds are stolen and a murder committed. Then Jason Dowd joins us for The Paranormal With Jason. We talk about a frightening adventure sent in by Spencer Johnson titled Mantis Man. We end the program with the conclusion to last week's epic science fiction tale The Misplaced Battleship. Featured Story - The Misplaced Battle Ship Our featured story this week is the Conclusion to The Misplaced Battleship. The work was originally published in the April, 1960 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. If you missed parts one and two you can listen to it . Last week we met James DiGriss AKA the Stainless Steel Rat. He was a con man of skill, but was caught by Special Corps and given the choice of prison or becoming one of their agents. His first assignment was to track down and recover a missing space faring battleship. He heads to the second planet of a B star in Corona Borealis, where he impersonates a General to get to the bottom of the mystery. After much research James discovers an inspired master criminal. His name is Pepe Nero and his accomplice is a girl named Angelina. He thanked the people of Corona Borealis and parted with these words, “The League fleet is already closing in on the renegades and you will be informed of the capture. Thank you for your assistance." About Jason Dowd - From an early age, Jason has loved his art. Over the years he has used various mediums, but none was more profound to him than photography. He finds inspiration wherever he goes because he keeps his eyes open for things that will make the perfect photo. Jason lives in the great state of Florida and has been a part of Ron’s Amazing Stories since the beginning. He first appeared on the podcast in where he introduced us to his book . If that wasn’t enough Jason is our radio producer. He has been putting the podcast out on the radio for the last 5 years! Jason is also the CEO and founder of Gladys Goodies. On it is Western week and all our stories have that old west feel Including the Five Minute Mystery. Listener Gary Richards asked me to revisit a story from years ago called Stampede Messa and then we head to Fort Laramie to hear Captain Quince’s encounter with Yellow Horse at an officer's ball. Featured Story - The Stagecoach Our featured story comes from the classic OTR series Fort Laramie. Captain Quince is faced with a troubling problem. Yellow Horse is being held in the stock house for murder and his followers want to break him out. At the same time, the women of Fort Laramie are holding an Officer’s Ball that Quince is ordered to attend. Our tale is called The Stagecoach and it first aired on April 14, 1956. Ok, a snake charmer at a circus has been found dead... it is claimed to be a suicide, but maybe not. See if you can figure out it it was or wasn't and if it was a murder..."Who did it and how did you figure it out?" What was the clue that helped you identify the criminal... if there was one! This was a popular 5 minute "fill" program stations used to insert if their programming had a time gap. Also was used to advertise special events that a station may be planning, hence the interludes of organ music... that is when the announcer could do his or her thing! More Five Minute Mysteries in the playlist by the same name! Happy Sleuthing!
Another thrilling episode of "Five Minute Mystery"....see if you can ID the criminal before his/her identity is made known to you! More in our "Five Minute Mystery" Playlist!

A logic puzzle
Okay, Sherlocks... time to see if you can solve the crime before the criminal is revealed to you. You have about 2 min to solve the crime after the details are given to you. Good luck in solving "The Gas Station Shooting"... Who did it and how did you know? More "Five Minute Mystery episodes in the playlist by the same name.
"Five Minute Mystery" was a syndicated radio program in the early to mid-1950's that was used by local radio stations as a "Filler" when they had some time to kill or perhaps when they needed to advertise some promotion or event that the station was sponsoring. There were elongated breaks within the five minutes when organ music was played so that a voice over could be added to promote something related to the station ... and then "back to our Five Minute Mystery" for the conclusion. Listeners were encouraged to pit their "sleuthing and problem-solving skills" to use to try to figure out "Who did it and why?" all within 5 minutes. I took a little creative license here to help fill in the organ music time gaps.... more "5 Minute Mystery" episodes found in the playlist "5 Minute Mystery"
Yet another Five Minute Mystery is waiting to be solved. A crime is about to be committed and you have only a few minutes (five to be exact) to solve the crime. Now of course you would not know if you solved it correctly unless someone told you you did. Well, you are in luck because the announcer will give you a few moments to see if you solved the crime correctly before the criminal is identified. See if you can out sleuth the sleuths! There is "A Clue in the Hand" but who was murdered, how and why? Good luck. More mysteries in the "Five Minute Mystery" Playlist. These shows were often used by local radio stations as "fillers" ... when a schedule had 4 or 5 extra minutes with no content to air, out came a "Five Minute Mystery" They also used the long organ breaks to make announcements about local radio contests or some other promotion that a station might be offering. I must admit, I take a little dramatic license with the organ music sections... and now for something different...

Kelly and I are back at it again! It is a special one too! "Five Minute Mysteries" was broadcast on the MBS (Mutual Broadcasting System) from 08-10-1947 thru to 03-27-1950. Listening carefully to every word spoken about these terrific (but brief) mysteries was essential, as each mystery was very well written. Syndicated 5 minute program sold to radio stations across the USA in the late 1940's and early 1950's as "fillers"... when a station had a 5 minute time slot they needed to "fill" they could use this show to entertain while at the same time using the long organ pieces to hawk a station contest, a product, some sort of announcement... I have removed the rather tedious organ music on this track to offer something a little different... strange... but different. Some fun with sound effects. See if you can solve the mystery before the solution is revealed at the end of the 5 minutes. See more 5 Minute Mysteries on the "Five Minute Mystery" playlist, and thanks for listening.

On this week we have what I think is the funniest story we have ever had. Add to that a UFO story, a history lesson from New England and Tom is back with Growing Up - A Short Story. Also, we continue with the novel Anything You Can Do and of course a Five Minute Mystery. Featured Story - Chapter 4 of Anything You Can Do… On last week’s podcast we listened to chapter two of Anything You Can Do By Randall Garrett. I asked the question if we wanted to continue the book or move on to something else. I received several responses from folks that said that we should continue with the book. This is a classic science fiction story written by Garrett and published in 1963. In the story so far we met an alien called a Nipe. He had his first encounter with human kind in form of a park ranger by the name, Wang Kulichenko. Who the Nipe quickly killed. In this episode, the authorities discuss the Nipe and the findings so far. Ron’s Amazing Stories is produced and hosted by Ronald Hood Email: Facebook: Twitter:
