The truth is finally out, and it goes about as well as you'd expect. Dave and Cody break down "Best Laid Plans," the seventh episode of From Season 4. Boyd and Tabitha tell the town about the reincarnations. Henry, full of Sophia's blood, rejects all of it. Boyd's plan to test the totem spear on the creatures goes catastrophically sideways. And Elgin — sweet, one-eyed, busted-handed Elgin — grabs a totem spear and saves Colony House. Plus a Fromspiracy connecting Abby's "it's all a dream" line back to season one, the second Roger RIP in three episodes, and Dave finally, fully, formally admitting that Cody was right about Elgin all along.
Damian Barrett and Joel Peterson bring you the latest news on AFL Daily. Adelaide put in their best performance of the season walking all over the Western Bulldogs with a 9 goal first quarter. from bigfinish website The Big Finish Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trip Opportunity honours the memory of our much-loved colleague and friend, a stalwart of the Big Finish production office who passed away suddenly on 8 May 2014. We're searching for an emerging talent to write a Doctor Who short story that will be released as an audiobook at Christmas – and this year, the topic is "The First Doctor". The competition runs for five weeks, starting today and closing in the middle of June. Commemorating Paul Big Finish's Executive Producer Nicholas Briggs said: "It's always a special time to remember our dear friend Paul. It's particularly exciting for me this year as we're focussing on the First Doctor, who has been something of a passion of mine recently. Can't wait to read the story submissions for this!" The First Doctor Range producer Peter Anghelides said: "In the ten years since we launched this memorial competition, we've never had a winning story featuring the First Doctor. This is the year we're changing that. "We want to read your proposal for a standalone Short Trip with a brand new idea that showcases him in a short story for a single reader that we'll publish at the end of this year. "Your story will be inspired by the character of the First Doctor as we saw him on TV. It's an era when each story naturally offered a new perspective on the continuing series – so we want your proposal to demonstrate that kind of originality and inventiveness. What fresh characters, adversaries, locations, concepts and perspectives can you devise for a compelling short story?" In addition to naming a winner, Big Finish will also identify a shortlist of commendations. "In recent competitions, the standard of entries has been wonderful," said Peter Anghelides. "Although we will have only one winner, we thought it appropriate this year to name and commend other strong contenders." Before you enter the competition, please carefully read the 2026 guidelines below and the accompanying terms and conditions on the Big Finish website. They contain important information that explains eligibility, theme, word count, deadline, and how to submit your story idea. We look forward to reading your entries. Good luck! Helpful advice from previous winners You can get a feeling for what a successful competition entry looks like by checking out the previous ten winners. Recordings of each are available on the Big Finish website as free downloads, along with the final script and the original winning submissions from each year. The Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trip Opportunity 2026 Guidelines The competition is to identify talent, enthusiasm, and ability to write to a specification – so everything you need to know is in these guidelines and the accompanying terms and conditions. Please note that no correspondence will be entered into, either during the entry period or afterwards, and the judges' decision is final. Entry into this competition requires that you have read and accepted the full terms and conditions. By entering, you indicate that you have done so. SUBMISSION PROCESS: All entries must be submitted electronically to competitions@bigfinish.com, either as a Word-compatible document or a PDF document, formatted as per these guidelines, and received by Big Finish before 23:59 (UK time) on Thursday 11 June 2026. YOUR EMAIL MESSAGE: Include the entrant's full name and a contact email address only in the body of your email. Include your title (e.g. Attack of the Glurgs) in the Subject line. Don't include any details of your background or previous writing experience – your submission should speak for itself. Attach your anonymised entry document to the email. THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT: The document must consist of two parts in a single document: a one page synopsis that is no more than 500 words, and a one-page excerpt from your story of a further 500 words maximum (prose, not drama script). This is to give an indication of the writer's ability and intentions for a 4,500-word story, which can change if the full story is commissioned. These word count limits for the synopsis and extract are a strict requirement this year. Name the attached file only with your story title (e.g. Attack of the Glurgs.PDF) Do NOT include personally identifying details in your document (for example, name or email address), or the entry will be disqualified. THEME AND CONTENT: Submissions should propose a short story featuring the First Doctor and set at any time in the universe of the Doctor Who television series between An Unearthly Child and The Tenth Planet. THINGS YOU MAY DO: You may use any of the First Doctor's regular companions (or none of them) as they appeared in TV episodes: Susan, Ian, Barbara, Vicki, Steven, Katarina, Dodo, Ben and Polly. Your story should feature the character of the First Doctor as we saw him on TV. We want your proposal to wow us with its originality and inventiveness. So what fresh characters, adversaries, locations, concepts and perspectives can you devise for a compelling short story? THINGS TO AVOID: Do NOT create a new companion for the Doctor, nor use other companions from TV or elsewhere. Do NOT include other Doctors or Time Lords. Do NOT include any established creatures (e.g. Voord, Sensorites, etc.) or established characters (e.g. Mavic Chen, the Toymaker, etc.) or established Doctor Who organisations (e.g. Coal Hill School, Space Security Service, etc.). Do NOT base any fictional characters on any real living person; you may include real historical people as characters, so long as they lived and died before the year 1900. EXAMPLES: If you've never heard a Doctor Who Short Trips story before, we recommend that you listen to some examples, to get a sense of how they sound and what can be done in the format. Each of the previous winning stories is available as a free download. When you add them to your Big Finish account, you also unlock bonus content that includes downloads of the original winning submissions and the final studio scripts. 2016: Forever Fallen by Joshua Wanisko (Seventh Doctor) 2017: Landbound by Selim Ulug (Third Doctor) 2018: The Last Day at Work by Harry Draper (Second Doctor) 2019: The Best Laid Plans by Ben Tedds (Twelfth Doctor) 2020: Free Speech by Eugenie Pusenjak (Tenth Doctor) 2021: The Lichyrwick Abomination by Joe Vevers (Ninth Doctor) 2022: The World Tree by Nick Slawicz (Eleventh Doctor) 2023: The Hoxteth Time Capsule by Paul Davis (Sixth Doctor) 2024: War Stories by Patrick Ross (Twelfth Doctor) 2025: The Wednesday that Wasn't by Luke Hollands (Thirteenth Doctor)

What happens when the thing you built gets taken away? Jodi Scott founded Green Goo with a simple mission: create clean, all-natural first aid products that actually work. What started in her kitchen grew into a nationally recognized brand. And then—just like that—it was gone. A financing deal fell apart. Ownership slipped away. And Jodi found herself on the outside of the very company she created. Most people would walk away. Jodi didn't. In this episode, Jodi shares the hard-earned wisdom from the fight to reclaim what was hers—and what that battle revealed about resilience, identity, and the courage to keep going when the outcome is uncertain. It is unamaginable losing a family member in an explosion - let alone three family members - nut in November 2018, that is exactly what Leicester Crown Court heard had happened back in February of that year - as the result of deliberate actions, and three men - Aram Kurd, Hawekar Hassan, and Arkan Ali - faced charges for this. The Crown painted a very clear cut, strong case against the three - but what did they have to say for themselves in the witness box?I tell you this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, in the penultimate part of Best Laid PlansThe episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in. The horrific explosion in Leicester, on 25th February 2018, which claimed the lives of five people, would have been terrible enough were it a tragic accident - but, what made it much worse, more inhumane, is that by just three days after the blast, police were convinced that it had been a deliberate act, and soon afterwards, charges were raised against three men for this - Arkan Ali, Hawkar Hassan, and Aram Kurd - the store's propreitor. This time around, in the second part of Best Laid Plans, i bring you the first part of the account of their resulting trial. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in. The quiet evening of Sunday 25th February 2018 in the Hinckley Road area of the city of Leicester was an unremarkable one - it was a cold night, and families were at home, glad to be in in the warmth. That quiet was to be disrupted, and the lives of so many people forever changed irreprably, when at 7:01pm, an explosion ripped through the night sky, a blast which claimed the lives of five people. A tragic accident, like so many before it?Or was it something else....?The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in. As a new year begins, so many of us want things to feel different, more intentional and less reactive, but don't know where to start. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger, pediatric endocrinologist, mom of three, and host of the Best Laid Plans podcast. We talk about why planning isn't about doing more, but about making room for what truly matters, like rest, relationships, and joy. Her new book, Best Laid Plans: A Simple Planning System for Living a Life You Love, offers a refreshing, flexible approach to creating a life that actually feels good. Sarah shares why daily to-do lists alone often keep us stuck in reactive mode and how planning at multiple levels, from yearly goals to weekly and daily rhythms helps us to stay focused on the bigger picture. We dive into simple, practical ideas like creating a true master calendar, communicating weekly plans with your family, and using tiny tweaks to reduce stress and decision fatigue. If you've ever said, “I'm just not a planner,” this conversation will encourage you to start small, personalize your approach, and remember that planning is a learnable skill. This episode is full of realistic encouragement and doable strategies for busy moms who want life to feel calmer and more intentional—without perfection or pressure. If you're ready to make one small change that leads to less friction and more peace, this conversation is for you. Mentioned in This Episode:

If you have a love-hate relationship with planning (like I do) or think planning sessions are unattainable for a busy, overwhelmed mom - today's episode is for you. I'm joined by Sarah Hart-Unger - practicing pediatric endocrinologist, mom of 3, writer, and co-host of the Best Laid Plans and Best of Both Worlds podcasts - for a refreshing, grace-filled conversation about planning that actually works in real life. Sarah shares the core ideas behind her book, Best Laid Plans: A Simple Planning System for Living a Life That You Love , including her flexible approach to nested goals, why “being perfect has no place in planning,” and how a solid master calendar and task management system can dramatically reduce mental load. We also talk about why moms of school-aged kids may benefit from seasonal (quintile) planning instead of quarterly planning, how to use an “ideal week” as a helpful reality check (not a source of guilt), and why making space for fun is a critical — not optional — part of any planning system. This episode is full of practical wisdom and encouragement for anyone who feels overwhelmed, behind, or convinced they “don't have time” to plan. Sarah Hart-Unger is a practicing pediatric endocrinologist, writer, and podcaster with a passion for planning. She loves to share her systems and techniques with others through courses and live planning retreats. She lives with her husband and three children in South Florida. She has been writing most days for over 20 years at theshubox.com. You're an institution. Time to invest like one.—-----------------------------What if planning wasn't about rigid to-do lists… but about carving out time for surfing with your kids, date nights, and saying “no” to overwhelm? In this practical episode, Dr. Bradley Block sits with Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger to explore her simple system for goal-setting and life management. Sarah reveals how she evolved from a time-strapped resident to a mom of three who balances medicine, podcasts, and adventure. Dive into yearly visioning (e.g., “What do I really want?”), quarterly goals, monthly calendars, and daily rituals that prevent fires from derailing your dreams. She shares pitfalls like neglecting partner time, the power of friend spreadsheets, and why spontaneity thrives on structure. Drawing from her book, “Best Laid Plans“ and courses, Sarah proves planning is the “knife-sharpening” for a delicious life—efficient, fun, and regret-free.If your to-do list runs you instead of the other way around, this is your blueprint to reclaim balance and build memories that matter.Three Actionable Takeaways:Start with yearly visioning: Dedicate hours annually to brainstorm big dreams (e.g., surfing with kids). List audacious goals, then revisit seasonally. Break into quarterly milestones like booking a trip, to keep them alive. This ensures daily life aligns with what excites you, turning “someday” into reality without overwhelm.Master task management: Use a “brain dump” to capture everything, then categorize into urgent vs. important. Schedule non-negotiables first (e.g., dates, friends), block deep work, and review weekly. Embrace tools like digital calendars or spreadsheets to track progress, preventing fires while creating space for spontaneity and joy.Evaluate opportunities thoughtfully: Before saying yes, scan your calendar for fit. Consider energy, family, and fun. Phases matter: Early career? Take more risks. With kids? Be selective. Prioritize relationships (e.g., friend tiers, date nights) to avoid regrets. Planning sharpens life like a chef's knife—efficient and delicious.About the Show:Succeed In Medicine covers patient interactions, burnout, career growth, personal finance, and more. Are you ready to hear all about Sarah Hart Unger's new book, "Best Laid Plans"? I learned new things from reading it and in this podcast I hope you too learn new ways to make yourself more efficient. Then grab your copy of her book. There are few people who love to plan as much as me and Sarah is one of them. Sarah shared all about planning with school aged children, how she's overcoming distractions and how to still dream. Closed Systems Input She had me by page 14! She was talking about all the input from closed systems that we are all overwhelmed with between an organization's app, Whatsapp, school apps, etc. It'd be nice if they all talked to each other…or would it be? I was so excited Grayson's school was able to populate my google calendar till I realized it was all events for the school. I guess I liked it better with manual entry but then we discussed there has to be a cadence to checking all the closed systems and knowing where to put it in your trusted system so you will see it when you need to. We also talked about the cognitive load and admin time it takes to collect all of the information that needs to be on the calendar. And for the love, people, plan your planning time; don't just try to work it into the nooks and cranny of your day. Long Range Planning Sarah offered such a powerful way to think of long range planning. Start with thinking of how old your children will be, you will be, and how you want life to look by that time. It's effective to zoom out to a bird's eye view to get a different perspective of time passing. I really loved that way of planning for the future and planning the next 5 years. She suggested thinking of milestones or big birthdays and how do you want to celebrate them? She envisioned a celebration which included travel for her 20th anniversary and now they are headed to HI next year to do just that. What you think about you bring about. Sarah did hers for travel but you could do it for your career, a PhD, your family, living location, type of house, or anything else. Time Blocking We learned something interesting here, I retroactively fill in how I spent my time if there's a blank space as a reminder to myself and my family that I did act as the wife, mother, and grandmother while I pursue my career and passions. And Sarah retroactively fills in her media use to hold herself accountable even podcasts she may have listened to. She got a gold star for having documented listening to the Organize 365® Podcast. Time Sucks Sarah shared that she doesn't have social media because she cannot trust herself on it. Some people can't have a little bit of chocolate and she cannot have a little bit of social media. Although we both laughed how we somehow got sucked into Reddit! I shared how I will be filling my old PhD time slot with the gym. Sarah said yes, to replace a time suck with something that you want to start to do or something more productive like audio books. We all have to fill our cups and you could be filling your cup instead of wasting time. Planner Privilege So imagine (these are general observations) the wife says "Let's plan next weekend." Husband replies he doesn't want to and "It always works out!" Sarah and I laughed because for the most part everything fun you have ever done was planned. It always "works out" for the other spouse because it was planned by the opposite spouse. We talked pros and cons of the white board and digital solutions. Then we talked about how you get your family involved with the system you've chosen and how to communicate the schedule. It was all so good!
