how do we explore the truth of the word, claiming that we will be blessed and prosper if we meditate on it day and night?
The godly person walks in happiness when they separate from the ungodly influence of the world by filling their mind with the truth of God's Word. They delight in God's Word. They meditate upon God's Word. Reading the Bible will not be the only thing we do, but it should fill our hearts and minds in everything we do! The Word of God must be our delight and meditation throughout the entire day. The blessed man has two attitudes towards God's Word in Psalm 1:2: He Delights in God's Word - His pleasure and desire are centered upon the Bible. He Meditates on God's Word - He thinks on the Bible throughout his day. How's your relationship with God's Word? May we grow deeper in our love for the Bible. May we be more faithful in our obedience to the Bible. May we be stronger in our meditation upon the Bible!
Are we feasting on the word?
Our prayers are effective and we can bank on God's Word. Today make your boast in Christ. Listen • Subscribe • Share

Psalms 19 1The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. The Nutritional Value of the Word of God (7-9) "The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul." 1 : Perfect! 2 : Sure! "The Testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple." 3 : Right! "The statues of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart." 4 : Pure! "The Commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." 5 : Clean! "The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever." 6 : True! "The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether." Before I read the longest psalm and chapter in the entire Bible, you may find it interesting to know that this psalm is a bit odd. It’s divided into 22 stanzas representing the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. In the NASB it’s subtitled as "Meditations and Prayers Relating to the Law of God." Almost every verse says something about God’s Word, common synonyms would be statutes, law, commandments, precepts, ordinances. Also used frequently are the words revive, heart, love, delight. You’ll hear me try to pronounce the Hebrew letter of the alphabet that preludes each stanza. The written Hebrew alphabet is fascinating to me! I enjoy studying the connections between the ancient pictographic Hebrew and the paleo-Hebrew symbol. It's a lot of fun, and I'll give you a mini-Hebrew lesson in this episode!! Also, I would love to know how you might answer these questions: 1) How is God’s Word a lamp to your feet and a light to your path? Specifically, how do you apply God’s Word to your life in practical ways? 2) How is it good to be afflicted? 3) Is God your portion? In what ways? What does this mean? 4) How do we connect Jesus with this beautiful psalm? Email me your answers! :) I would LOVE to hear from you! Until next time, Brain Changer! Let's choose 2 think! Jez wants us to be mindful of what influences shape us and why we need the Word to be the ultimate influence in our life. He reminds us of three reasons we should build our lives in the Word: first it has authority, second it has clarity, and finally it is necessary and sufficient.

We Stand in Awe of God's Word - Psalm 19 // Curry Kennedy by Wellspring Church
For someone following Jesus for any length of time, God's Word can unfortunately become something we know we should engage, but don't necessarily want to engage. But the writer of Psalm 119 sees God's Word very differently. He loves God's Word. How can we move from just seeing God's Word as important to enjoying it and yearning to know it and do it more?
"There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death." Proverbs 14:12 In the age of Google, our desire for wisdom is constantly growing but rarely satisfied and this made me think of the story of The Fall found in Genesis 3. Eve too desired wisdom, but because she sought it outside of God, it changed the lives of all of humanity. In today's episode we're discussing three keys found in Genesis 3 and why it's so important to know the word of God for yourself to avoid being deceived. Scripture references: The Fall: Genesis 3:1-8 Wisdom: James 1:5-7 How to Deal with Trials: James 1:2-4 What God's Word Says About Fortune Telling, Horoscopes, Psychics: Deuteronomy 4:19, Deuteronomy 5:17, Deuteronomy 18:9-14 Trustworthiness of God's Word: Psalm 19:8, Proverbs 15:16 You Are God's Masterpiece: Psalm 139:13-14 Flee Temptation: 2 Timothy 2:22-24 Sexual Immorality: Ephesians 5:3, Colossians 3:5 True vs. False Wisdom: James 3:13-18 Check out Priscilla Shirer's Armor of God Bible Study: https://bit.ly/2Eepgyo Stay connected with the Black Girls with Purpose community by visiting blackgirlswithpurpose.org/join. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
The waters of our soul are deep. The cry of the song "Oh My Soul" by Casting Crowns reminds us that we can bare our souls to the One who created us inside and out. If we spend some time tending to our souls, we can experience the faithfulness of God in the deepest places of our being. The Psalms include many soul-baring moments, and Psalm 42 contains an example of this. It won't be hard to relate to the psalmist this week! On this episode I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Read in context Consult outside resources (I used Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem this week) Read in several translations Repetition The story behind the writing of the song "Oh My Soul" - YouTube Video The cry of the heart of David that inspired us to consider all of Psalm 42 - Psalm 42:11 My favorite lyric - "There's a place where fear has to face the God you know." What exactly is our soul? Some characteristics of a soul: Our soul can worship God - Psalm 103:1, Luke 1:46-47 Our soul can pray to God - 1 Samuel 1:15 Our soul can love God - Deuteronomy 6:5, Mark 12:30 Our soul can rejoice and delight in God - Psalm 35:9, Isaiah 61:10 Our soul can desire God's Word - Psalm 119:20, Psalm 119:167 Our soul can long and thirst for God - Psalm 42:1-2 Our soul can hope in God - Psalm 42:5 The poetic picture of longing for God from our very depths - Psalm 42:1,2 The opposite of longing for God The example of Psalm 42 when faced with deep sorrow and outside jeers Remember God's faithfulness Pour out your soul to God Giving our souls a good talking to Additional Resources Purchase the single or album on Amazon Lyrics The Story Behind the Song "Oh My Soul" by Mark Hall with Casting Crowns - YouTube Video This Week's Challenge Read Psalm 42 for yourself.
