For decades, the hunting and conservation community has advocated—through organizations, programs, and initiatives—for educating the non-hunting majority on the value of hunting to wildlife and habitat conservation. This need is even enshrined in the Wild Sheep Foundation mission: to educate the public and youth on sustainable use. But have we succeeded? Is this focus still critical? And how do we move the needle on public perception? In this episode, Mark Hall of the Wild Origins Canada Foundation joins Gray N. Thornton to explore how storytelling can reach the "moderate middle"—impacting, educating, informing, and challenging thought around hunting and conservation. They discuss what messages resonate, which fall flat, and how to shape hearts and minds in a changing landscape. Mark also shares the vision behind Project Grizzly Balance—an effort to restore the sustainable use of grizzly bears across British Columbia and beyond for the benefit of both wildlife and people.
Dessutom reder Dick Harrison ut sanningshalten i Röde Orm!
Mark Hall returns to the podcast to discuss the reemergence of Christian nationalism as a topic of interest to the Washington media.Mark and I review some of his work on White House-appointed advisory boards related to religious liberty and how that ties in to (or doesn't) the conversation on Christian nationalism. We then pivot to breaking down a recent survey by PRRI that seems to have contributed to renewed concerns about Christian nationalism' prevalence in conservative politics. We find that much of the pearl clutching seems to stem from a misreading of the data, or rather, reading the data through preestablished lenses, despite there being no meaningful change in terms of actual numbers of Christian nationalists in America. In the course of the discussion, we also uncover a key data point in the survey that undermines a significant driver of the alarmism that often accompanies reporting on Christian nationalism.Subscribe to Tim Talks Politics on Substack for the full show notes (30% off for podcast listeners)!
In this episode of the Panoramic Outdoors Podcast, we sit down with wildlife advocate and filmmaker Mark Hall to talk about the idea of “grizzly bear balance” in British Columbia. As grizzly populations continue to grow and expand into areas with more human activity, the conversation around how these iconic predators should be managed has become increasingly polarized. Mark shares his perspective on the importance of looking at the full ecosystem when discussing predators, prey populations, habitat, and human use of the landscape. We discuss the role of science in wildlife management, how politics can shape conservation policy, and why honest conversations about predator numbers are often difficult to have. The discussion also touches on human–bear conflicts, the role hunters historically played in wildlife conservation, and why finding a practical balance between people and predators is critical for the long-term future of wildlife in the province. Josh, Mark Hall, Wade Graskewicz and Steve Yant sit down pre super hunt
I greet you in Jesus precious name. It is Sunday morning, the 14th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Mark 8:36:”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? “ Where are we putting all our effort? What are we doing in this life? What are we trying to build up? What legacy are we leaving for our families? I looked up the dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “legacy.” It means “an amount of money or property left to someone in a will.” Casting Crowns is a very, very popular Christian band, and they have made many hit songs. They are one of my favourite groups and there is one song that they sing, it is called, “Only Jesus - take everything else I have just leave me Jesus.” There's a little video goes with that song and I watched it and the lead singer, Mark Hall, is driving an old pick-up to the rubbish dump, to the pit, and he stops in the middle of the pit and of course his whole band is playing in the background. He opens the back of the jeep and brings out a box full of trophies that have been won in sporting and different disciplines in life, and he throws them into the rubbish bin. “Take the world but give me Jesus!” I want to say to you today that we need to have a good look at what our priorities are in life.I met a gentleman a while back, a very good friend of mine, he's a very senior gentleman at the moment, and we were sitting talking. I was just encouraging him on the great job that he has done with his family, with his children. They are all serving the Lord - but he got a bit tearful and he said to me, ”But I haven't left anything for them in terms of a legacy. I haven't left them any money, any possessions because I don't have any.” And I said to him, ”You have left them the best thing you could have ever left them. You have left them Jesus Christ. They know Him as their Lord and Saviour, and they are serving Him.”There are many others who leave vast fortunes to their children but their children have never met the Man from Galilee. Today, let's throw all this worldly stuff aside and let us concentrate on leaving a legacy for our families that will last forever.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

In this powerful episode of the Panoramic Outdoors Podcast, Sheldon welcomes Mark Hall from Wild Origins Canada to take a hard look at the growing crisis surrounding moose populations in Manitoba. What begins as a broad conversation on moose biology and behaviour quickly focuses in on a serious and complex issue: the sharp decline in moose numbers across key areas of the province. Mark brings his years of experience in wildlife conservation and backcountry ecology to the table, helping unpack the layered challenges facing moose in Manitoba. Together, Sheldon and Mark discuss how habitat loss, increasing predation, and changing environmental conditions have collided with deeper social and political tensions around wildlife management. At the heart of the conversation is the evolving relationship between Indigenous communities and the provincial government. Mark and Sheldon explore how treaty rights, conservation priorities, and differing management philosophies are intersecting—sometimes clashing—as all parties try to protect what remains of Manitoba's moose populations. It's a difficult but necessary conversation, and one that demands attention from anyone who cares about the future of wildlife in Canada. This episode doesn't offer easy answers, but it does shine a light on the critical need for collaboration, respect for Indigenous knowledge systems, and science-based decision-making. Whether you're a hunter, a conservationist, or someone who simply values the wild places of Manitoba, this episode will leave you with a lot to think about. Send us a textWhat's the point of gates, guards, and security cameras if you're letting hundreds of unscreened workers into your community? On this week's episode of Take It To The Board podcast, host Donna DiMaggio Berger talks with security expert Mark Hall to reveal the alarming blind spot in most residential communities' protection plans. After spending over two decades in law enforcement, Mark identified a critical vulnerability: communities invest heavily in perimeter security while opening their gates to thousands of unknown service providers each year. This realization, coupled with a horrifying incident where an air conditioning technician with a criminal record took a family hostage, led him to create the Safe Communities Vendor ID Program. The program's findings are eye-opening. Since 2016, they've identified and prevented 81 registered sex offenders and over 900 recently convicted burglars and thieves from accessing participating communities. Donna and Mark walk listeners through the program's three-tiered screening protocol, which includes five-year bans for theft-related offenses, ten-year bans for violent crimes, and lifetime bans for sexual offenders and homicide perpetrators. They explain how the program accommodates immigrant workers through foreign government ID verification, addresses identity verification challenges, and operates without cost to associations or residents. If your community is serious about security, listen now to learn how you can close this critical gap. Conversation Highlights Include:The security gaps in the marketplace that inspired the creation of the Safe Communities Vendor ID programDetails on the program's screening protocolsHow Safe Communities communicates with vendors after screening employees, including reports and follow-upsAddressing concerns about second chances for individuals with prior convictionsThe frequency with which employers fail to use rigorous screening protocolsTraining programs and ongoing evaluations offered to vendors to stay updated on best practicesSafeguards in place to avoid mistaken identity and minimize legal liabilityHow the program has grown since its inception in 2016Vendor screening expansion into industries beyond community associationsRelated Links:Podcast: Checking In On Background Checks: What's In, What's Out and What's Questionable? with Robert E. Kaitlin Collins left the White House with some lumps to the noggin yesterday. As President Trump and El Salvador President Nayib Bukele held a press conference, Collins asked about deported gang member Abrego Garcia. Well, Pam Bondi, Marco Rubio and President Bukele all teed-off on Collins and her reporting. The "Maryland man" is actually a citizen of El Salvador and was ordered to be deported in 2019. On today's show we are going to take a look at our national borders and what a difference a president can make. Ron Vitiello is the senior advisor to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection with the Department of Homeland Security. Mark Hall is the Deputy U.S. Border Czar, working directly with Tom Homan. With decades of experience in border protection and law enforcement, both men point to our robust laws concerning immigration. Our immigration laws and procedures are fair and work when they are enforced. Now that President Trump is enforcing our laws, what was 7,000 crossing per day under Biden has plummeted to below 300 under President Trump. Ron and Mark fill us in on cartel activity, stopping deadly fentanyl precursors from China and how Mexico and Canada have stepped up to do their part. With exceptional leadership from the likes of Pam Bondi, Tom Homan and Kristi Noem, we might already have the most secure border in U.S. history. Featuring: Ron Vitiello Senior Advisor to U.S. Customs and Border Protection within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Former Chief of Border Patrol & Acting ICE Director Mark Hall Deputy US Border Czar | Trump Administration Distinguished Veteran U.S. Customs and Border Protection It's Tuesday, which means there is NEW, FREE content in my newsletter: https://www.seanspicer.com/p/bill-maher-changes-his-tune-on-trump Today's show is brought to you by these great sponsors: Beam For a limited time got 40% of Beam's Dream Powder.
