We're going through Romans and today we'll see what it says about who we are in Christ and how to be successful in our battle against sin. Make your way over to chapter six as we uncover how to live the victorious Christian life. There's a lot to discover from this very valuable and practical passage of scripture. The truth is, we are going to either serve our sin nature, or serve the God if the universe! To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111

A true disciple of Jesus hears the word of God and keeps it, wholly serving Christ as his Savior and King.
Are we aware that we're serving someone every day—God, ourselves, or the kingdom of darkness? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses serving the Lord. Jesus calls us to be servant leaders for Him, and He demonstrates what that looks like in the Gospels. Pastor Allen teaches five characteristics of servants: surrendering our wills, practicing contentment, being entrusted with authority, understanding the limits of authority, and knowing who we are serving. We've been offered the highest invitation of our lives. Are we willing to serve the King?
Since the enlightenment, people have struggled with, or scoffed at, the idea of demons. But nobody has any doubt about possession. There are plenty of things that can exercise control over us. Can anything break their grip? Pastor Luke looks at Luke 8:26-39 in "You Gotta Serve Somebody."
Obedience and service are unavoidable. But the question is: who or what do you serve?

Gotta Serve Somebody A Sermon by Pastor Richard Sfameni, Lead Pastor of Victory Church in Providence, RI. Favor Freedom Fruit Romans 6:15-23 NKJV 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. In wilderness situations, it's common to feel stuck and to complain. However, God encourages us to move forward. Complaining can trap us in resentment, while lamenting allows for growth. If you're going through a difficult season, remember that God isn't judging you; instead, He wants to draw you closer to Him. The Lord will accompany you in the wilderness, helping you build trust for every season. He gives us permission to lament as we wait for Him to move. Watch "You Gotta Serve Somebody" to learn more about how to lament during difficult times.Link: https://restoration.subspla.sh/x3d23zq#thehappyrabbi #restorationseattle #JewishinSeattle

Sermon for the Seventh Sunday after TrinityPaul compares slaves to impurity and lawlessness to slaves of righteousness. As he says, when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Just like the slaves were free of all other duties, those who are enslaved to sin are certainly free from righteousness, from following God's way. You hear people flaunt this all the time. They say, it's so much more freeing not to live under those rules and morals, not to have guilt over what I do, I can do whatever I want! But in reality they are not free. You gotta serve somebody.

Modern people from all over the spectrum have all sorts of problems with Paul. Why? Because Paul was, in many ways, an anti-modern man who didn't share our love of individualism and freedom because he believed true freedom was not doing whatever you want but surrendering to and serving the God who made you. Scott talks about seeing one of his spiritual mentors in concert last week--the one and only Bob Dylan. Bob sang one of his Christian songs called "Gotta Serve Somebody," and Scott reflects on what the song means to him and how it connects with all things Living Compass. His only regret is that, due to copyright laws, he cannot play any portion of the song on the podcast!
