The golf world is full of great stories. PGA Professional Chandler Withington stepped away from the Director of Golf role at Hazeltine National Golf Club in 2021. He had an idea on how to create a better quality of life for he and his family. That idea took a little time to build, but his tremendous work ethic allowed him to persevere. Chandler loves the history of golf and is a tremendous artist. He combined that interest and talent and started Archive 22. Archive 22 is an unbelievable concept. Withington creates pieces of historic art displaying moments in the ecosystem of our game. Throughout our conversation, Keith and Chandler covered: The company's origin story Chandler's art and history interest PGA career path The company's name The challenge of creating historic golf art The first piece available from Chandler is a historic account of the US Open. He spoke with all 51 clubs that have hosted the tournament over its 127 year history. Collecting this style of art history is vanguard in the golf world. Getting your club to buy into the idea of social media and starting a Facebook or Twitter account is challenging enough. Getting your staff to participate with meaningful and helpful content can be even more difficult. Yet, Chris Tritabaugh, Superintendent at Hazeltine National Golf Club is elevating his club's international prominence, engaging members and building his personal brand through his Twitter handle @CT_turf. Chris started his account in 2009, a time when Twitter was just stepping into the light as a communication platform. At the time it had already established itself for those "in the know" as a new social media tool, but for most people in the private club space, it was perceived as risky at best and reckless at worst. Still, Tritabaugh began setting fire to a community of avid golf fans and turf experts around the globe.

Check it out.

If you want to take a trip to Minnesota and see the beautiful fall season while playing golf, visit www.golfminnesota.com. In the third segment of the show, Holly and Will welcome long time sports writer Mike Kern from Philadelphia Daily News. Mike talks about Arnold Palmer. We knew his health was fading and then he didn't show up at Oakmont for the U.S. Open. The writing was on the wall. Mike said that "You would be hard pressed to find someone who didn't like Arnie. "There were so many contributions that Arnold Palmer made to the game of golf. He invented the grand slam, the Golf Channel and he helped increase the tournament purses. 100 years from now when people go through the history of golf his name will stand out. Mike said that there used to be a Senior Tour event in Philadelphia in the twilight of Palmer's career, and more people showed up to watch Arnie play with one of the early tee times than would show up to watch the leaders. Holly and Mike tun their attention to this week's Ryder Cup. Mike says that in the past the problem has been that the Americans don't play well on Friday and Saturday. The Euros seem like they seem to play better together. In the final segment of the show, Dr Bob Winters, mental conditioning coach and author of Mistake-Free Golf, calls in to talk about the Ryder Cup and the mental aspects of the tournament. The Europeans have a strong team with six new players and they have no scar tissue from previous Ryder Cup emotional scar tissue ... and they know each other very well. Team USA is a collection of individual egos that comes together once every two years and try to create some cohesive bond. On the other hand Team Europe has a collective ego, and consciousness I call it "Eurogo." Basically wherever one goes the others go too. Dr Bob feels that Team Europe will win. There is a lot more pressure on the USA, even though there are so many things stacked in Team USA's favor that it adds more pressure and we want to win so badly. I think in the end Europe will win and we will look and say, Wow, what do they have that we don't? They have a team ego. Will asks if the team concept that is something that is taught with coaching over time? Dr Bob says that Together Everyone Achieves More - TEAM. The Europeans really like each other and hang out with one another. USA doesn't have that. Dr Bob feels that there are too many American brains involved --- five vice captains is too much over coaching. Check out Dr Bob's website at drbobwinters.com to see how he can help you with your game like he has helped so many pros and average Joes over the years.

On the show this week we are in full Ryder Cup mode. Everything seems to be pointing towards an epic battle and we do our best to discuss all the angles in our preview. How will the passing of The King, Arnold Palmer affect both sides and particularly the Americans and how will Rory's win boost him and the European team in their battle on US soil in Hazeltine National Golf Club. We break down the Captains, Vice Captains and the twelve men on both sides and still like everyone, struggle to come up with a winner...all we know is, we're going to love being in front of the TV this weekend. We'll be back next week to review what the 40th Ryder Cup and to preview The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship played on three of the finest links courses Scotland has to offer.

Holly G and Rich Bianco are in the studio talking about the upcoming Ryder Cup competition that starts Friday. This week's show is sponsored by Fields BMW. Brian Hewitt, Global Golf Post, calls in to talk to Holly and Rich about the Ryder Cup. Phil Mickelson was all over the news for his comments about the U.S. team not litigating against one another. He also talks about Tom Watson being very antsy and ready to get this thing under way since he has been the point man for the past two years. Brian says that there is no other event like this team competition and the dynamics of the event. Brian feels that the pressure is really on Ted Bishop, PGA of America President, because he is the one who picked Watson. He also mentions that there is no "bad guys" to root against on the European team. Brian feels that there are two X-factors, one for each team, Victor Dubuisson for the Europeans and Patrick Reed is the X-factor for the U.S. Holly talked to Bob Harig, ESPN.com, earlier in the day at Gleneagles, Scotland to talk about the Ryder Cup. Holly asks Bob about the U.S. team. Bob and Holly talk the captaincy for each team, especially Tom Watson. Bob said that Tom Watson said that the Ryder Cup is more pressure than a major championship. The players want to play well for one another and their countries. Everyone is exposed at the Ryder Cup. Bob talks to Holly about the atmosphere at the Ryder Cup and how many people come out to attend at that they clap for bad shots just as much as a great shot. Paul McGinely is a huge contrast to Tom Watson. Holly mentions that Paul got in to golf after suffering a major injury that ended his pro soccer hopes. Whereas Tom Watson has an amazing lineage in golf. Holly asks Bob about the European captain's templates to winning. Bob said that it is really hard to figure out what McGinley means by that. Maybe use the veterans be the mentors for the new players. Bob feels that one of the "unknowns" for the U.S. team is Patrick Reed who has a cocky attitude. Who will Reed be paired with? Holly and Bob talk about Gleneagles at how beautiful it is and the fact that it will make people want to travel to Scotland and play. Bob says that the course doesn't have to be that great like in a major championship. Holly mentions that there will be thousands of people watching every moment at every hole and how much pressure that will be. Rich announces that the U.S. team won the Jr. Ryder Cup. The 2016 Ryder Cup will be at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Jeff Shain, PGA Tour.com, calls in to wrap up the show. Jeff talks about the experience of the Europeans in his New York Times article. He feels that the more pressure that is felt at the Ryder Cup, the Europeans seem to relish it. Whereas, the Americans seem to tighten up under pressure and play to tightly. Jeff and Rich both feel that the Europeans will win the Ryder Cup. Holly goes with Team USA and Captain Tom Watson.
