Summary: Personal Experience and Faith: Leah shares her personal journey through multiple hardships, including the loss of her house, her son's addiction, and her mother's cancer. She emphasizes how these experiences have deepened her intimacy with God and strengthened her faith. Permission to Feel and Wrestle with God: The discussion touches on the importance of embracing emotions and being transparent with God. Leah explains that acknowledging and wrestling with feelings of grief and suffering can lead to experiencing God's peace and presence more profoundly. Community and Support: Leah highlights the significance of community support during times of grief. She shares examples from her own life where friends and community members provided crucial support, reinforcing the idea that healing often involves others helping to "unravel our grave clothes." Message of Hope and Redemption**: Throughout the conversation, Leah and Speaker 1 underscore the message of hope in Christ. They stress that while grief and suffering are inevitable, turning towards God and trusting in His plan of redemption can lead to healing and transformation. Podcast Intro: My guest is Lea Turner, a wife, a mom to 5 children, she's an author and a grief coach. When you hear just a little bit of her story today, you'll see how much experience she's had in the area of grief and it will explain why she's the perfect one to come alongside grieving hearts and help them navigate the seasons of life when we live with loss and uncertainty. A quick overview of her grief journeys (with an S - plural)…within a very short time period of 3 years it included death, cancer, a house fire where she and her family lost absolutely everything include the family dog), her son battling addiction, shattered dreams, heart surgery…and just recently her mom's cancer journey has shifted and is adding yet more uncertainty for the days ahead. Our conversation focuses on Lea's book, The Freedom to Feel: Finding God in Grief and Trauma, Her book goes into greater depth with regard to what we discussed plus additional topics that we didn't have time to discuss. I really picked around in Lea's pain and she was gracious enough to answer every question. She explains how her relationship with God has evolved through each season of loss, emphasizing the importance of building a foundation with God to weather difficult times. She shares a story about a pastor's advice that spending time with God is preparation for future hardships. Lea highlights the importance of embracing feelings of grief and suffering rather than running from them and she explains that acknowledging and feeling pain allows the Holy Spirit to provide comfort, contrasting this with numbing behaviors like alcohol or excessive activities. She also discusses the importance of not becoming a victim of grief, suggesting that continually dwelling on hard stories can trap a person in their suffering. Instead, she recommends balancing necessary daily responsibilities with the need to process emotions and seek God's guidance. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did as we discussed the hope and transformation that comes from a relationship with God. All that she shared is very encouraging but I especially loved the reminder when she said that as believers we lament, meaning we grieve with hope. I'd say that Leah's over all message and I whole heartedly agree with it….is the importance of continually turning towards God. Even in the midst of grief and heartache we can count on God's character and presence to remain constant through every crashing wave of any storm we endure. Let's listen in for encouragement and a reminder that God has a plan of redemption for every form of suffering they endure. On Palm Sunday, we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem a week before his crucifixion. Yet to better appreciate why He entered in the way He did, we look at a couple preceding stories to gain a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and why He came. The resurrection of Lazarus shows us God's power and grace, even in the most difficult of circumstances. The anointing of Jesus shows us sacrificial worship that He most certainly deserves.

Have you noticed the amount of people that are hopeless today? Depressed, Dispirited, unambitious just given up on life? It's really impossible to not notice it, we are without question living in the last days. The Bible says that Hopelessness will make you sick "Hope Deferred Makes the Heart Sick" (Proverbs 13:12) I've seen so many reports of teenagers committing suicide with their whole lives ahead of them. People in their 30s and 40s just giving up on life. 50 years old with no purpose or direction. God gave me this message to deliver to us in these last days. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 Send a Tithe, Donation, and/or Offerings at: https://leodunson.com/donate/Cash App $LeoDunson - https://Cash.App/$LeoDunsonBecome a Member! - https://ministries.leodunson.com/chec... “Gods Laws, Commandments, & Statutes” (Book): https://tinyurl.com/33j95pbc“Precept Upon Precept” (Book) on Amazon at: https://tinyurl.com/z2uu46ez Subscribe to support Leo Dunson Ministries to gain access to "Exclusive Content" & Early Release videos: https://ministries.leodunson.com/chec... What happens to our hearts when we encounter trial, pain, hopelessness, and disappointment? If we are not careful to watch over our hearts then when trouble or difficulty comes we can end up with a heart that is sick. Our hearts were never meant to carry the burden of processing life on our own. We have to open up and allow the Lord into our hearts and have Him become our longing fulfilled.  “God wants us to process our hearts with Him. He wants to take our hope deferred places and He wants to fill those places with His hope and His life.”

It was June 15 1993, three days after the June 12 election and the National Electoral Commission had released results from 14 states, including the Federal Capital Territory. From the results, MKO Abiola was in the clear lead. It seemed like MKO had won the election. All around Nigeria, people were hopeful and eager for a democratic future with a leader they had chosen.  But on June 16, the Abuja High Court called for the suspension of the remaining results. Shock rippled through Nigeria. To many Nigerians, the election had been fair and unproblematic, so the suspension immediately raised some red flags. Protests took over the streets. Lawyers got busy preparing to contest the suspension. Then on the 23rd of June, just eleven days after the election that had inspired so much hope, Nigerians had their fears materialize when IBB announced he was annulling the election. How did Nigerians react to this? In this episode, Wale Lawal finds some answers. Learn more at republic.com.ng/podcasts/.

Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick (weak), but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Hope deferred refers to hope that is delayed!  Have you ever felt like your hope is delayed or that the promise is delayed?  Hope in Hebrew means to wait it out, staying the course as long as it takes. You are  waiting for God's outcome with faith-hoping and triumphant endurance, looking to the end. I love what David said about hope Psalm 27:13-14 New King James Version 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. 14  Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!   Wait in Hebrew: ) tied to its expectation Say this with me, “I am tied to my hope and my hope is tied to me!  We all know what Jeremiah 29:11 says, but it is so powerful. God wants to give us a future full of HOPE!  Have you ever prayed this prayer before?  Psalm 42:11 Why, my soul, are you downcast (despair)? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. GOD KNOWS I HAVE!!  Despair in Hebrew: shāḥaḥ – bowed down, crouched in submission, Disturb in Hebrew: hāmâ –, growl, roar; (figuratively) be in commotion ("deeply stirred"), implying boisterous, turbulent behavior like howling, mourning, tumultuous wailing ("roaring"); the rush and roar of a throng.  BUT DAVID HAD A “YET PRAISE” Yet Praise Yet: ʽôd̠ –continuance ("still persisting") referring to "continuance and persistence. . . for still expressing addition or repetition  It's translated as moreover, besides, still, yet, again. In  each case the core-idea is continuance (persistence). It literally means do again – "keep something going in a cycle" which persists or still happens ("yet," “more"). Praise: yād̠â – to cast, throw on-target (hit the "bull's-eye") – acknowledge as "spot on"; grateful recognition which includes thanksgiving, confession, or praise – Yodah To lift or throw arms upward in praise and surrender. The word yodah is a gesture of throwing out one's arms in celebration or confession. You may already pray this way at your church. People raise their hands, but they are as if they are tossing something. With yodah, the picture of arms extended also connotes the idea of confession in the word. Does praise include confession? Indeed, to praise in this manner is to extend our arms as an expression of our need for God. What an encouragement to know that the presence of God is help to us!  Here are a few more passages in Psalms for further devotion and study. When you read the following passages, extend your arms toward God. It may even be your palms raised. The important part is to admit your need for God and his presences. Psalm 43:4 – Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and upon the lyre, I shall praise You, O God, my God. Psalm 71:22 – I will also praise You with a harp, even Your truth, O my God, to You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. Psalm 89:5 – The heavens will praise Your wonders, O lord, Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. I encourage to hang this scriptures in your home or put them in your car!  Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Romans 5:1-5 (read in your Bible)  Psalm 119:114 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Micah 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.   HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023!!!

Hope Deferred with Lainie Stubblefield - Marriage and Children God's word says, hope deferred makes the heart sick but desire fulfilled is a tree of life. If so, then why would it seem that God withholds good things from us? Specifically for this conversation, withhold marriage and children from my guest Lainie Stubblefield? If you've longed for something for many years and it feels as though you've been overlooked, let Lainie's story encourage your heart because she shares how she struggles with God about her pain and the revelations she receives by engaging God's heart in her journey of deeply desiring to be a wife and mom. Hope deferred can be about many different desires of the heart. It's longing for something but not seeing it come to fruition. As mentioned, Lainie's heart desire has been for marriage and children and as a Christian she's chosen to wait on God's timing. A double edged sword for sure. On the one hand, I consider it a sliver of gold, being confident that God knows the man whom has He chosen to be my spouse. At the very least, when marriage gets tough I could rest in the fact that everything's going to be okay because God picked this one for me. And yet, when it's taking so long for God to answer, it's very easy to also blame Him when things don't turn out like I want or had envisioned. Lainie reminded me of my friend Kathrine. They are steadfast in their waiting. I'm not saying it's easy. Both women are transparent about their experiences with pain and struggle but they stay the course until God moves His hand. And by move His hand, I am also not saying that He answers in the way they wanted or desired. In their struggling well with God they discover new intimacies about His heart for them. They find that God is enough in every situation. I can't count the times when I was waiting on the Lord to answer a prayer and then at some point I get it in my head that He needs help. I jump in and "help out" aka take control. I've got this mindset that surely I missed what He was saying or where He was leading so I'm going to steer this prayer request in the right direction and get the answer I'm looking for, pronto. So, more times than I can count I have returned to the Lord in repentance with more baggage attached to my original request. Good news though, God's unfazed with my antics. In the past, He's spoken into my spirit something along the lines of, sweet child I could have saved you all of that if you'd just been patient. I say that to say this, we can get out there and make things happen. There are other options to waiting on Christ. Lainie has other options. One of those options being that she could stay focused on her struggle and pain becoming bitter but she has set it in her heart and has chosen to submit herself to God's timing and His wisdom. To some it may look like God has forgotten Lainie or is withholding this good thing, even Laine has asked God that question. But Lainie has pressed deeply into the heart of God to discover the beauty of intimacy with Christ. In doing so, Christ has revealed His sufficiency in singleness. So you might be thinking, what is the importance of waiting on God? For Christians, it's in the waiting that our faith is exercised. It's where we discover new levels of relationship with God, where He reveals hidden things, gives us access to new dimensions of His heart. It's where we explore and discover things we didn't even imagine to know or ask. After all, an immediate gratification God does not require faith and certainly no relationship. There is beauty to be found in the midst of the pain and waiting.  Lainie is warm, friendly and easy to. She talks about the various revelations that God shared with her and I loved that she had a strong understanding of the importance of both married couples and the singles with regard to the body of Christ. She has, what I would call, an intuitive understanding and even shares what she discerns with her pastor (who is very open to her input) from a singles perspective. She shares how to blend the two (married and single) in various ways for a mutually beneficial experience that edifies the whole body of Christ. Listen in to hear all that God revealed and how Lainie has applied it to her life so that hope deferred doesn't become the sole pursuit of her life.
