In this heartfelt episode of Focused Healthy Family, Gina and Don Grothoff sit down with Jondi Whitis to explore her deeply personal journey navigating her parents' experience with Alzheimer's. Together, they discuss the challenges and insights gained from watching her mom and dad face the stages of aging, memory loss, and the emotional complexities that come with it. Jondi reflects on the importance of paying attention to the subtle signals of aging and cognitive decline—signs that often go unnoticed until it feels too late. The conversation highlights how her family, like many, found themselves a bit behind in building a strong support system and community as her parents grew older. As my friend Jondi Whitis likes to say, "At our core we are herd animals." This statement has some profound impact when it comes to how we see ourselves, the actions we take, and how self-sabotaging behaviors show up in our lives. When we are making choices and taking action, we aren't just considering facts and practicalities, we are also influenced by our genetic heritage. This week I explore how some of our hardwired survival instincts impact our ability to make choices that line up with our authentic selves AND how we can use tapping to get past this and live the lives we want. With great joy in today’s podcast I introduce you to a friend and colleague of mine Jondi Whitis. Today we are talking about her new book: “Compassion in Action: Emotional First Aid for Children: How to Quickly Help in Times of Trouble.” She teaches children about their human design and how to use it, to better weather whatever Life throws at them. She has expanded her trainings to include and emphasize the importance of Emotional First-Aid, the first step in preventing and recovering from the everyday traumatic experiences that not only define our times but can forever define children's meaning about themselves and the world. So in this podcast we are talking about how she uses Emotional First Aid in her practice and new book. So join me now for my interview with Jondi…
One of my favorite parts of the tapping community is people's willingness to share their experience and expertise. A few months ago I sent an email to a number of practitioners I admire and asked them if they would be willing to share their wisdom about the following: What lessons have clients taught you about healing? What is something you have changed your mind about when it comes to healing, working with clients, or your own transformation process? If you were to start your own healing journey over again, what would you do differently? What is one thing you wish your clients believed about themselves? What is one thing you wish your clients believed about the healing process? I received some wonderful responses from Kim D'Eramo, Alan Davidson, Jondi Whitis, Robin Bilazarian, Kris Ferraro, Gwyneth Moss, Deborah D Miller, Jake Khym, Tania A Prince, Ange Finn, Nancy Forester, Peta Stapleton, Julie Schiffman, Steve Wells, and Mary Ayers. You can read all their answers (and soak up their wisdom) right here. Reading through all of these amazing answers gave me the opportunity to reflect on those questions myself. In this week's podcast I share my own answers to the five questions. These lessons are just a taste of what I will be teaching in my Mastering the Art of Delivery training. If you join us, you will get more out of your tapping while working with clients and while tapping on your own. Use the coupon code "podcast" for 50% off the registration. Support the podcast! As someone who knows a lot about tapping, it's natural to want to share that knowledge with others, but sometimes we don't have the opportunity. This is especially true when dealing with a crisis in the moment, when we are working with children, or both. In this podcast Jondi Whitis and I talk about how to approach either of these situations and she shares strategies to avoid over-explaining or attempting to do too much, plus a simple formula for how we can be most helpful in the moment. The conversation is based on the book [Emotional First-Aid For Children}(https://amzn.to/3eaFesl) that Jondi co-wrote with Deborah Miller. If you spend time with children, this book is a must-have! Trauma doesn't have to be huge to be impactful, but if not treated right or well, the event and aftermath, and ideas and beliefs around the incident can define the rest of a person's life. My friends Deborah D. Miller, PhD. and Jondi Whitis, MToT, both highly experienced energy workers who love to work with kids, have written a new book that helps us practice simple, easy ways to deal with trauma. Not necessarily huge earthquake sized - maybe you dropped a gallon of milk and it was the last you had until shopping day, or you were in a mild fender-bender, or fell off the bottom step! Then again, maybe you were shocked immobile by a school shooting, or having gone through war, or an abusive relationship. Listen in as Deborah shares how she got from being a farm-girl, to studying science, to what it was like to work with kids with cancer - in Mexico - in Spanish! - and wrote the seminal book, Emotional First-Aid for Children, on how to prepare for and handle trauma - as it happens, during the event, and after. No matter what you, personally, have gone through, you will get a lot out of Emotional First-Aid for Children. You learn what to do to prepare and take care of you, first. You find out how to prepare and work with kids - verbal support, emotional support, simple easy exercises to get calm and grounded. Then you find out ... but you'll hear all about it on the show! Emotional First-Aid for Children is available on amazon HERE. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

33% Off Pain Relief Miracle One of the reasons that we love tapping so much is its versatility. Because we can use tapping in so many different settings it can often be confusing to know exactly how to tap in a given moment. For example, there is a huge difference between tapping with someone who is emotional in a public setting versus working with a client one-on-one in the safety of a practitioner's private office. Our primary goal when tapping with someone in a public setting or when we have limited time to deal with an issue is to return the person we are working with to a state of calm. By doing this we can keep them safe and also avoid uncovering a bigger issue that can't be resolved in the moment. Jondi Whitis has created a wonderful process, which she refers to as emotional first aid, which is a systematic way of helping someone to an emotionally safe space in public or in a short amount of time. In this week's podcast she shares how the process came about and how you can ensure that you are tapping with others in a safe way. When it comes to using EFT effectively I think that Jondi Whitis is one of the best. She is insightful, deliberate, and so compassionate. (She is also a great trainer if you are looking to up your tapping game.) Every year she hosts a wonderful event outside NYC called the Spring Energy Event. (You should join the mailing list and come along next year!) This year she gave a talk called "The Heart Of EFT!" It was one of the most thoughtful reflections I could imagine on the healing process. As I was sitting at the sound board making sure everyone could hear her clearly my thought was, "I have to share this on the podcast!" Jondi was kind enough to allow me to share her talk here. Take your time to savor this, it will inform not only the way you tap and the way you work, but also how you interact with others. It is good stuff!
We do not live in a vacuum. We are impacted by the issues others struggle with and vice versa. The healing process is also not something that takes place independently of others. Often our fastest route to healing is by walking that journey with others. Jondi Whitis has seen the impact of trauma on a community and the impact of a community on an individual’s trauma firsthand. She has worked with both the families of those directly impacted by the New Town shooting and also with veterans and veterans’ groups around the issue of PTSD. In this interview she shares what she has learned from this work, what can be applied to our own healing process, and how we can reach out to others. There is a great deal of wisdom to be learned from Jondi’s experiences. I encourage you to listen and take advantage of it.

The first weekend of April the 2nd annual Spring Energy Event was held outside NYC. My friend Jondi Whitis did an awesome job once again of putting together a great event. This year I was asked to talk about how we can use tapping to move ourselves to taking the action we want. My presentation was broken into three parts: Part 1: Tapping For Action v. Tapping For Relief Part 2: The 9 Immutable Laws Of Taking Action Part 3: 4 Ways To Use Tapping To Move You Towards Taking Action The version of the handout I created for the talk had a number of blanks for the audience to fill in while listening. I have provided the completed notes below. If you are looking for help taking action you will find over 200 audios, classes, and resources in the Ruach Center designed specifically to move you taking action.
Since Feb of 2011 I have had the opportunity to be part of teaching an advanced anger management class to inmates in a local jail. I consistently describe the experience as “the coolest thing in my life.” It has been a really amazing experience and I have learned a lot from it. I was lucky enough to be Jondi Whitis’ guest for the June episode of “eftTapFest” which is part of EFT Radio On-Line. In the conversation we talk about: What I have learned about teaching EFT by teaching it in a Jail What I have learned about creating a community to rally in support of one cause What I have learned about stretching myself What I have learned about crowd funding Even if you never intend to work with inmates, write a book, or lead a community of support, there is a lot you can learn in this conversation.
There is a lot of talk about the idea of what we manifest in our lives, both positive and negative. I personally think that we pay too much attention to manifesting and attracting and give nowhere near enough credit to personal choice and response. In this conversation with my friend Jondi Whitis we talk about what we can control, what we create, and what we are responsible for. This is just one point of view and I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic.
In this podcast my friend Jondi Whitis discuss a bunch of topics around tapping and healing. In the conversation we cover: Being able to be honest about where we really are and why that is paramount to healing. Using where we are to build on knowing where would like to be. How to stay in the moment (which leads to healthier choices). Noticing what is happening emotionally. Is tapping similar to hypnotic induction? Why we resist healing and how can we deal with it. Why tapping doesn't work when I tap on my own. How I can move forward and still feel like I am going backwards. What to do when I don't know what I want. What to do when a client doesn't know how to talk about their emotions. How do I continue to grow my understanding that I am enough.
This is a slightly different type of podcast. Instead of a straightforward teaching or an interview it is much more a conversation. The topic of the conversation with my friend Jondi Whitis where we talk about using tapping protocols and how we find our ways to core issues. Techniques/Tools v Art of Delivery Simple v Complex Stories about how we chance and how that effects how we chance How we find our ways the right tapping phrases Resistance and the absence of resistance The eraser in my pocket How do we find the core issues better How to get clients to find more information about the issues The power of shutting up and listening (aka the comfortable silence) Choosing the issue to start with Worry v Fear How to talk about issues (esp. with kids)
One of the conversations I have most often around Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT)/tapping is how it relates to religious traditions and spiritual practice. The questions range from, “Is it OK to tap based on my religion/belief system?” to “Can tapping help my spiritual practice?” I was interviewed by TapFest host Jondi Whitis and Co-Host Lillian Fimbres on EFT Radio and here is our complete conversation on the subject.
