That's why Rapid Response RN has teamed up with some of our favorite nursing podcasts for a pod crawl devoted to delirium. In this episode, Kati Kleber, MSN RN and host of the FreshRN® Podcast, joins our discussion on treating patients with delirium and avoiding its long-term effects. RaDonda Vaught, a Vanderbilt nurse, made a fatal med error. She has now lost her license and been charged with negligent homicide. But the story doesn't end there. Kati Kleber of FreshRN.com and I discuss the timeline, the charges and answer the question: “could this happen to anyone?”. We also discuss very interesting “politics” of the case. Who is the DA and what is his affiliation to Vanderbilt... to RaDonda's defense attorney? Why did the hospital initially list “natural causes” on the patient's death certificate? This is much deeper than a conclusion of guilty or innocent. It's a picture of inconsistency, corruption in healthcare, and has the potential to set precedent changing not only how nurses practice but overall willingness to take the risk of working at the bedside. www.theboomclapcommunity.com www.instagram.com/ritarogersco www.intstagram.com/cecily.dickey www.instagram.com/kati_kleber https://www.freshrn.com/radonda-vaught-trial/ Nursing license full complaint: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6483588-Vaught-RaDonda-NOC-9-27-19.html DA Discovery: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6785652-RaDonda-Vaught-DA-Discovery.html CMS remediation: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6535181-Vanderbilt-Corrective-Plan.html TN Health Dept Letters: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6785898-RaDonda-Vaught-Letters.html CMS complaint: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6542003-CMS-Complaint-Intake.html --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode Highlights: Where did Kati grow up and how did she transition into nursing? When did Kati realize her popular blog could become a business? What tips does she have for bloggers or someone building an online presence? How did Kati identify a need for online courses? How did she decide which courses to build and was that process like? What is her advice to someone who wants to create an online course but doesn't feel quite ready to take it on by themselves? How can someone present this opportunity to a co-instructor?
