#358: The Pros & Cons of Having a Business Credit Card

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 7, 2023 13:42

OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy podcast, presents the pros and cons of having a business credit card. If you choose to have one, he provides tips on how to use the card wisely. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason shares an example of someone who funded their startup with a business credit. He changed his mind on the business and presumed he wouldn't be held personally responsible for the debt. He was wrong. Jason explains the differences between a small business credit card and a corporate credit card. A corporate credit card is more difficult to set up but it holds only the business liable for expenses versus the person.  There are revenue requirements to set up a corporate credit card – $4million in gross revenue. Only C corps and S corps can apply – not LLCs.  The great value business credit cards provide is their point system. Jason's Chase Preferred card offers 3 points for every $1.00 he spends. For example, if he spends 10k in a year, using the 3-point system, that's 30k points or $300 in cash value.  Divide your credit card points by a hundred to get an estimate of its value in gift cards or if you were to cash it out. Set up reminders for your credit card payments to avoid paying interest. Jason advises not to trade interest for points.  TWEETABLE QUOTES: “If you're responsible and you've proven you have a great track record of financial and fiscal responsibility, go for it [a credit card]. Get the extra rewards.” – Jason Duprat “Be wise, be smart and be honest with your business transactions.” – Jason Duprat RESOURCES: Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses by heading over to https://healthcareboss.org/masterclass/ Have a healthcare business question? #357: Are You a Creator, Controller or Owner?

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 31, 2023 20:44

OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy talks about how to create wealth in today's economy, including the two ways to do this and the three types of people who create wealth through their assets.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: The right way to create passive or semi-passive wealth is to create multiple assets vs trading your time for money or ‘working your ass off.' There are three categories of people with assets: creators, controllers, and owners. Creators generate revenue using their mind to build or create something. Examples include online courses, coaching and consulting in a group setting, intellectual property and white label services.  Controllers generate revenue through syndication – in other words they don't own the assets but they control them. Examples here include managing an Airbnb, affiliate marketing and drop shipping.  Lastly, owners generate revenue through ownership of real estate. Property examples include car washes, storage rentals, laundromats, Redbox and rental properties.  The sharing economy is taking a liability and turning it into an asset, like renting out your background, pool, barn or garage for an event.  Peer-to-peer lending, often referred to as social lending, connects people or entities who are willing to loan money with people who need to borrow money.  To craft wealth, change your mindset from consumer to employee. Think like an entrepreneur or producer vs consumer.    TWEETABLE QUOTES: “If you're making it (money) with your ass, you're trading your time for dollars…the only way that you can make a dollar is to sell hours of your skills and life to an employer, and that is extremely limited.” – Jason Duprat “Basically, you can take what used to be your liability, something that used to be a cost to you, and help either reduce the liability or just flat out turn it into an asset. This is called the sharing economy.”  – Jason Duprat  “You do not have to be on the consuming end. If you are on the producing end, if you're adding value to people, that's where the real wealth is generated. That's how you become wealthy in today's economy.” – Jason Duprat RESOURCES: Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses by heading over to https://healthcareboss.org/masterclass/ Have a healthcare business question? OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy, talks about if and when you should consider looking into multiple streams of revenue – and how to systemize them.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Creating multiple streams of revenue may be the obvious way forward but it also has its pros and cons. Timing and taking little steps should always be your focus if you want all of them to succeed. Systemize your streams of revenue. Doing everything at once will only lead to inefficiency and even failure.  Stop pulling yourself into different directions, focus on your primary business before thinking about trying other ventures. Jason references Elon Musk and how he has built his companies through momentum and systemization. Think in a step-wise fashion! There's only so much you can do. Be conscious of your energy, time, and money. Not all streams of income should be active streams of income.  Entrepreneurship is flexible. Be in control, don't be afraid to go into something that you are passionate about. OVERVIEW: “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some hire public relations officers.” – Daniel J. Boorstin Jason A. Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy podcast, sits down with Paul Furiga, President and Chief Storyteller of WordWrite. In this episode, Paul shares decades' worth of knowledge on Public Relations, such as various PR concepts, how to use PR to gain success, and his take on the difference between Advertising and PR.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: He spent about 20 years in Journalism, wrote about 10,000 stories, and edited another 10,000. Along with his Journalism experience, he learned the value and skill of Storytelling. Advertising vs Public Relations analogy: Advertising is when you come into the office the morning after your big date and you tell everybody how great you were. PR is when you come into the office the morning after your big date and your date tells everybody how great you are. Paul and his company practice a 21st Century practice abbreviated as P.E.S.O. - Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned. Every healthcare client Paul works with needs these four categories of content to gain success. Pitching is the Psychology of "When is the right time and right place for the right story?" Three categories of measuring Public Relation success are Outputs, Outtakes, and Outcomes. Press Releases are good for SEO. When you put a Press Release on the internet, write it in plain, easy-to-understand English that can be understood by those outside your profession. You only need to spend a large amount of money if you are making a major national announcement. For regional announcements, there are much more affordable regional distributions. The best way to reach Paul would be through www.wordwritepr.com   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "If you can tell the story of why their life is going to be better or different because of the unique value you bring, you're going to have the best success possible." – Paul Furiga  "Don't ever measure impressions. OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy podcast talks about how – and if – you should start a business when you have student loan debt.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: In the US, student debt totals 1.6 trillion dollars. The average student graduates with just under 38k in student loans. And 15% of the US population currently has student loan debt. Jason shares five tips for those struggling with student loans yet still want to launch their business. First, choose your institution wisely. As a student, think about the return on your investment! Don't just pick the most expensive school. The odds of getting your money back, especially in the healthcare field, is relatively low.  Second, make sure you're paying the least amount of interest as possible after you graduate. Consider loan consolidation. Also, there are governmental loan forgiveness programs. They often have a strict contract so make sure you can commit to avoid penalties. Next, reduce the amount you owe. Jason joined the Navy Reserves and reduced his loans by 30k. This has its pros and cons, which you should consider when looking for new opportunities to repay your debt. Fourth, spend wisely and live lean. Self-discipline and self-control is a must to avoid ballooning student loans. Live well below your means and don't make expensive purchases like a new car or home.  Fifth, figure out a way to earn more. Work overtime and apply extra payments directly to your principal vs interest. Pick up a PRN job, which offers great flexibility and pays 25-50% higher than normal salaries.  Start lean and if possible start with a partner who can share expenses with you. Humble yourself. Start small and also consider online options, which have little to no startup costs, such as courses and books.  Once launched, and if possible, consider reinvesting your earnings vs paying off your student debt. This might allow you to move to a second business more quickly with a higher growth model.    TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Choose your degree wisely, choose your school wisely, and choose it based on your return on investment.” – Jason Duprat   “The key is to get started…start up lean, reinvest your earnings and keep pushing forward.”  – Jason Duprat   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT: LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Facebook Group   RESOURCES: Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses by heading over to https://healthcareboss.org/masterclass/ Have a healthcare business question? Duprat, MBA, CRNA, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy podcast, sits down with Katherine Saunders, Co-Founder of Intellihealth, Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and Host of the Weight Matters Podcast. Join us in this episode as we debunk the long-standing stigma surrounding obesity and learn more about Katherine and Intellihealth's mission to bring accessible medical obesity care for all.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS  Katherine's mentor had a predecessor company which she and her husband transitioned into Intellihealth, wherein they aim to democratize effective obesity treatment. Serving as a Primary Care physician, Katherine was overwhelmed with her patients' weight-related diseases which inspired her to pursue Obesity Medicine. Physiological and pathophysiological changes occur with excess weight that make it very difficult to lose weight and easy to gain weight. Obesity Medicine is a newer field of medicine. There are only under 6,000 physicians who are certified in Obesity Medicine, which is astoundingly low considering how rampant obesity is in America. The cornerstone of the field is dietary strategies, physical activity, and behavioral change. Medications come in only after comprehensive evaluations and needs assessments. Katherine mentions the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Obesity Medicine Associate, and conferences available to learn more about the field. She works closely with Software Developers in Intellihealth, combining two vastly different fields to make Obesity Medicine more accessible for all. One of their goals is to break the stigma, to educate people that obesity is a disease and not dependent on willpower alone.   TWEETABLE QUOTES  “Obesity is a disease. OVERVIEW Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about how to attract the top talent to your team when starting or running a new business. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: If you're launching or starting a new business, building a team of talented people is important for growth. When you have a great team, you can deliver great products and service.  When it comes to hiring new employees, position the benefits of working for your company, especially if you can't offer a big salary.  One advantage of working for an entrepreneur is autonomy – often not found in the corporate sector. There are layers, meetings and bureaucracy you have to go through with larger entities in the corporate world. Talented people want room to grow and the ability to make decisions. This includes managing budgets and teams, as well as being able to create and come up with solutions.  When employees can make decisions, they feel empowered and have a sense of pride in their work. Another perk you can promote is providing a title. This boosts morale and can serve as a stepping stone for your employees further down the road if they decide to pursue other opportunities.  Flexible hours help your employees improve their work-life balance. Beyond hours, flexibility can also include working remotely and having time to take vacations. If you want to attract the top talent to your team, verbalize, communicate and market the benefits of working for your new business. Do this across all channels including job boards, your website and during interview questions. Hiring the top talent allows you to take your business to the next level. OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks about the best way to manage irrational and overly demanding customers. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: When you own a business, complaints are something you can't escape. There are ways you can manage angry customers while maintaining the integrity of your company.  Be empathetic and listen to what unsatisfied customers are saying. Put yourself in their shoes and really listen to the core reason behind their complaint.  Unhappy customers are louder than happy customers. They're going to make more noise. Always try to resolve the situation before it gets worse. Managing customer expectations, especially customers who escalate easily, can be correlated to the price of your product or service. Minimize the opportunity to complain. If your costs are higher, you'll attract a higher quality customer.  Believe it or not, sometimes the customer isn't always right. Don't be afraid to discharge them from your business. Jason shares his former general manager's philosophy and how it resolved sticky situations in the past. Don't feel guilty about taking charge and putting a stop to irrational and insistent customers. TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Unhappy customers are louder. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, sits down with David Lu, Founder of Axon Video Strategy. In this episode, David shares how he combined his years of Pharmacy experience, passion for Business, and for Video Production expertise to build his value-driven career today. We also learn what separates a regular skill from an in-demand, client-centric service. Tune in to learn more of David's timeless wisdom. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: David grew up with a passion for business-related topics. David's sister started her own Film Production Company in LA and he worked for her for several shoots. He studied Video Production on his own and eventually did Video side projects alongside doing Pharmacy work. He wanted to do what he loved and empower others to do what they loved, so he combined his interest in business with his Video Production skills to pursue that. One of David's techniques for overcoming Impostor Syndrome is practicing gratitude. Whenever he feels discouraged, a trusted friend reminds him of his accomplishments and helps him to be grounded. It's one thing to provide a service, but another thing to provide a metrics-focused result. Rather than focusing on providing Video Production, the highlight of David's business is providing inquiries or leads for businesses. David niching down to serving medical practitioners came down to three factors: Leveraging his existing background in healthcare Who would benefit from his products and services Who is willing and able to pay for his services. When choosing an editor, choose someone who can tell your story. If they don't know the objective of the video, the edit's going to be pointless. You can reach David through axonvs.com or his email, david@davidlufilms.com. TWEETABLE QUOTES: “If someone has Impostor Syndrome, all it means is that they're human. OVERVIEW Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about why your business should get cybersecurity insurance and different ways to mitigate risks regarding your business' data being hacked or stolen.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Are you taking the right security measures when protecting yourself and your business' data? The recent attack on SolarWinds Orion software is one of the greatest US cybersecurity breaches and affected close to 18,000 companies. The breach led to massive data compromises in big corporations, including governmental agencies, and will take years to identify the damage that's been done. The cybersecurity of your business should always be one of your biggest priorities. Your online data footprint is vulnerable to an attack at any time so protect yourself by purchasing cybersecurity insurance.  Use two-factor authentication, which sends a pin code to your cellphone to verify logins. Review your password management protocol. Change your passwords every 6 months and use unpredictable passwords – including a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, along with symbols and numbers. You can also use third-party password software tools such as LastPass.  Never plug anything unknown into your computer, such as a thumb drive or CD. They can contain malicious codes that can compromise your computer's files.  Set up your routers properly. Change the username and password and check if your router password is encrypted. Make sure you turn on automatic updates for your software to periodically check for viruses. Remember to also include Windows Updates as well.  Use open networks with caution. Invest in your wifi hotspot on your phone to prevent unwanted data breaches from suspicious open networks. OVERVIEW: “Keep it simple, stupid!” – A design principle noted by the U.S. Navy Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about keeping your business “Simple.” Jason shares one of the most common traps new business owners fall into – chasing “Shiny Objects” or feeling the need to be “Extraordinary.” You don't need to do extraordinary things to achieve extraordinary results, and in this episode, Jason explains why. Tune in until the end to hear about Jason's new rank-topping book! EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: “Keep it simple, stupid” is a powerful motto Jason has followed since he heard it from his high school teacher. People often believe they need to be wildly “extraordinary” and accomplish “complex” feats. In an interview, Warren Buffet once said, “you don't have to do exceptional things to get exceptional results.” Instead of doing extraordinary things, strive to do simple things extraordinarily. In business, complex systems can cost you effectiveness and efficiency. Keep things at a level where it's easy for everyone to understand. Simple systems and processes benefit you during turnover, as it isn't difficult to pass on responsibilities if they are easy to understand. Pursue businesses that are simple and boring but deliver exceptional results. Business owners who dislike doing “boring” work and are distracted and chase down new, exciting, shiny objects usually deliver subpar results. Moving from “good to great” and “great to exceptional” takes a lot of time, effort, repetition, and going through the “boring” things that feel as if they don't make any progress. As an example, Jason and his team are in the process of simplifying their business. He will consolidate his different business entities into one overarching brand called “Healthcare Boss” to avoid the complexity of using several accounts for several apps. TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Keep it simple. If you have a complex business model with complex systems, you're setting yourself up for failure because those take a tremendous amount of resources and mental energy.” – Jason A. OVERVIEW: “Efficiency is doing better what is already being done.” – Peter Drucker Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the importance of systems and processes. In business, every single second of every single team member counts, so in this episode, Jason teaches us how to streamline workflows and maximize efficiency and productivity through automation, software, and A.I. tools.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: All businesses run on a series of workflows, wherein much of what our team members or we do is repetitive. Jason runs us through his repetitive workflow when producing and publishing his podcast as an example. Jason learned some of his workflow efficiency strategies from Richard Winters, part of his Mastermind Group and a previous guest on this podcast. Document every step of your or your team's tasks or job functions. All the individual steps in these processes require multiple clicks and much time. We can optimize any workflow by reducing repetitive tasks to a minimum. To help streamline his business processes, Jason ensures he's always up-to-date with the latest software and technology and utilizes whatever is most beneficial. A Standard Operating Procedure (S.O.P.) is a step-by-step list of instructions for doing something in your business. Start utilizing S.O.P.s, software tools, and automation strategies while your business is small. Once your business grows and is at max capacity, it'll be difficult to build these systems. A benefit of having S.O.P.s is it makes turnovers easier, as all the tasks new people need to be trained on are all located in the same place.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "Anytime a human is involved in anything, there's a chance of making errors. Software tools and automation help make workflow less error-prone." – Jason A. Duprat "Build your systems and processes while your business is still small or before you even start your practice. OVERVIEW: “People are not your most important asset. The right people are.” – Jim Collins Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the best practices when hiring for managerial roles. In this episode, Jason recalls his experiences with recent mis-hires, his key takeaways to avoid potential hiring mistakes, and red flags to consider when screening applicants. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason recently had mis-hires for the marketing director position of his business. He's since learned from these experiences and has solidified his hiring process. For your business to grow 3x or 5x, you'd want to hire someone with proven experience. Use personality tests to identify an applicant's compatibility with a role. Jason suggests doing a minimum of three interviews to evaluate an applicant thoroughly. Write precise job descriptions with included KPIs they'll be responsible for. To attract great people, ensure a great working environment with excellent company culture. Hire people who fit your company's culture and core values. Hire people who are genuinely passionate about what they do, not those who work for money alone. From Alex Hormozi: Don't hire entrepreneurs. Hire intrapreneurs. Avoid hiring unemployed managers, as they may be underperformers who were terminated. OVERVIEW: Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don't fight them. Just find a new way to stand.” – Oprah Winfrey. Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the Realities of Entrepreneurship through the "Bell Curve of Entrepreneurship." In this episode, Jason shares his advice on how to deal with frustration as a business owner, a challenge he has faced lately in his business, and how he overcome that situation.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Bell Curve of Entrepreneurship consists of X and Y axes, wherein the Y-axis indicates the probability, while the X-axis indicates the distribution of the dataset. Most entrepreneurs running decent businesses are in the middle (mean score) of the bell curve. On one side of the bell curve is Extreme Satisfaction or Elation, On the other side is Extreme Dissatisfaction or Frustration. As an entrepreneur, you won't always be satisfied with your business. There will be days when you will feel extreme frustration. One common challenge businesses face is finding great talent with adequate leadership skills, especially in marketing. It takes a lot of work to find online marketing experts. Those with marketing degrees are often into traditional marketing instead of the newer digital marketing. Marketing is one of the most critical business components you should invest in. You need a strong marketing arm to keep up with your business plans. Frustration is normal and makes you better. Don't beat yourself up about it. Keep your eyes on the prize, focus, and always seek the advice of experts who've overcome your same struggle multiple times. Jason recommends joining Masterminds to get together with like-minded experts miles ahead in their progress. If joining Masterminds has yet to be an option, you may also join communities.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "Not every day are you going to be satisfied with your business. There are going to be moments of frustration, and that's the reality of business." – Jason A. Duprat "If you're going through frustration in your business, it is normal. #341: How to Use the Value Ladder to Scale Your Business From Free to Premium

OVERVIEW: "When the customer comes first, the customer will last." - Robert Half   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the Value Ladder, a vital strategy to scale your business. In this episode, Jason shares the importance of the Value Ladder, how it can increase Customer Lifetime Value, and the examples of services included in his Value Ladder.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason enumerates various products and services that are part of his Value Ladder. The Value Ladder consists of low-level to high-level services. With each step up the value ladder, the higher the investment and the higher the value for the customers. The first step in Jason's Value Ladder is free services such as his Podcast and Newsletters. The second step is Jason's book, "Clinic Launch Secrets," launching soon. The third step is Jason's courses: Ketamine Academy, IV Therapy Academy, and the newly launched Med Spa Launch Academy. Jason and his team are working on tiers even higher than that, such as SEO tools. No matter the kind of business you own, always have free content or services available to your customers.  Jason recommends sharing free content on YouTube as it's the second-largest search engine and is run by Google.  As a customer, with free content, you have to do all the work yourself. However, when you pay more, you're paying for best practices to save yourself from potential mistakes of financial losses. Not everyone immediately jumps to the higher tiers. They may start with the free content or services and then move up when they're interested in more advanced services. The biggest challenge for clinic owners is the marketing of their service, lead generation, and customer retention. The essence of the Value Ladder is to keep your patients coming back or the Lifetime Customer Value (LCV).   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "If nobody knows about your business, you won't have any customers. The best way to get yourself out there is through free or low-cost entry points." – Jason A. In this episode, we'll learn how Cash Generation ties in with Cash Usage as Jason elaborates on the Growth Share Matrix and its four quadrants. Tune into this episode to learn more about leveraging your business income!   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason uses the BCG matrix, a diagram that helps to put things into perspective what big companies go through when they have multiple products and divisions and they're trying to work towards the following product or service line. The BCG Matrix is also referred to as the Growth Share Matrix. This applies to you if you have a business, big or small, whatever industry. If you want to keep growing, you must leverage your Cash Cow's revenue to start a new product or service line. The problem with cash cows is that the product can die down. The delivery can get stale, and new competition can come in.” You can't just sit on one Cash Cow and expect it to last forever. What most businesses do is they'll invest the money earned from that Cash Cow. Throughout the episode, Jason discusses different services they're working on as an example of how to leverage the BCG Matrix. While this isn't a hard rule, Jason suggests not putting all your time and investment into “Dogs” because that's not where the business growth opportunities are. Solving your existing customers' problems is much better for ROI and increases your Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). TWEETABLE QUOTES: "The Cash Cow is what your business leverages to produce the income necessary to develop, add, create, or build additional products or services." – Jason A. Coming from experience, Jason shares how side hustles should be done discreetly and wisely when you have a full-time job and the possible consequences of not doing so. Tune in until the end to hear about Jason's upcoming mastermind and book launch!   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Many individuals start their side hustles while working full-time for an employer. Jason highly encourages you to start a side hustle. Don't burn bridges along the way. Be careful not to let your employer find out about your side hustle, as they could view it as you not being fully committed to your job. In the worst-case scenario, you might get an ultimatum from your employer. If you are pursuing a side hustle, do it discreetly without revealing the details to everyone. Once your business is enough to sustain your cost of living, transition out of your job, which is what Jason did. To do your side hustle discreetly, refrain from doing things that will draw a lot of attention to you being the business owner, such as having your name in the business and having your face revealed on the business' website. Share your business ideas and express your enthusiasm only to your clients, team, and family, not your co-workers. There are substantial tax advantages, your business could scale and exceed the income from your full-time job, it is fun and challenging, and you have complete autonomy.    TWEETABLE QUOTES: "I encourage you to definitely start those side hustles because they can be life-changing." – Jason A. In this episode, Jason shares his experience with SEO, several components you should take note of, and how his business has grown and reached more audiences because of it. Tune into this episode to hear about a special service Jason wants to offer to his loyal podcast listeners.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Optimizing your clinic's website so various search engines can discover your website and rank it higher on searches. Get into the top 3-5 search rankings. An overwhelming majority of search clicks happen on the first 5 search results that pop up. Without SEO, to get people to your website, expect to pay a lot for ads, market yourself on social media, or rely on word-of-mouth referrals. The current recommendation is to have blog posts of no less than 500 words. The more words, the better, as long as they're high-quality keywords and topics. Ideally, you would want a blog or multiple blogs with relevant keywords and topics posted per week. Google has Web Crawlers which are AI that go to every page on every website and scans the data in the website. When writing blogs, consider which text you format as Headings as those are the tags targeted by Google when scanning pages. You can't duplicate content because Google tracks it and puts it lower on the search rankings.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Search Engine Optimization can help get you free patients.” – Jason A. OVERVIEW: To have it, you have to want it. Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, discusses defining your goal and achieving it. Jason teaches us how to block our time each day and identify if what we do each day is aligned with our goals. If you feel like you're falling short of what you want, tune into this episode.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: If you have big goals but haven't met those goals yet, Jason challenges you to do things differently. The overwhelming majority of successful people are not any smarter than the average person. However, they manage their time way better than the average person. One of the things that Thomas Jefferson did was manage his time into blocks. Jason recommends starting out by blocking your 24 hours a day to 4 hours each, leaving you with 6 chunks of 4-hour time blocks. 2 chunks (8 hours) are usually dedicated for sleep, leaving you with 4 chunks (16 hours). You have to make some extra sacrifices because you have less time in the day to build what you need to build. What separates high-level entrepreneurs from others is their ability to utilize their time to generate value better than the average person. Redefine your goals based on what you're willing to give up and sacrifice. If you want to be in the 1%, you have to do what the 1% does. There's nothing wrong with not striving to be part of the 1%. The idea is to understand exactly what you want and set your priorities accordingly.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "If you spend your time doing something else, it means you valued that more than your goal. In other words, you didn't want your goal bad enough." – Jason A. Duprat "You need to give up the things that need to be given up to get the results you're looking for." – Jason A. #334: How Do You Not Feel Like You Need To Be Working In Your Business 24/7 And Prioritize Some Downtime?

OVERVIEW: Rest is part of productivity. Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about taking the pressure off of being an entrepreneur. In today's episode, Jason's text community asks for advice on how to step away from the pressure of running their business and focus on downtime. If you're an entrepreneur who feels almost burnt out, working 24/7 non-stop while chasing success, this episode is for you.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Join Jason's text community, and send a message to 386-284-4955. Community Question #1: "How do you not feel like you need to be working in your business 24/7 so you can prioritize some downtime?" Jason was part of a mastermind group called 2CCX Mastermind with Russell Brunson. Jason's mindset Coach, Lindsey, was using a framework that was really common in the therapy and coaching space: "Your circumstances influence your thoughts. Your thoughts impact how you feel emotionally. How you feel emotionally is going to have a lot of control over the actions you take." You have no control over your circumstances, but you have control over your thoughts. If you're hitting 80-85% of what you would generally target, you're on the right trajectory and can make improvements to reach higher. Community Question #2: "How do I get comfortable stepping away from my clinic?" People commonly think that no one can do what they do as well as they can. If you're hiring the right people, that won't happen. Hire people who can do 80-85% of what you would normally do in terms of quality and standard. Have the proper training, systems, and procedures in place to delegate responsibilities while you're away.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "You can't control every single thought that enters your mind, but you can control how long that thought stays, your response to that thought, and your feelings towards that thought." – Jason A. Duprat "You will burn out as an entrepreneur if you put too much pressure on yourself to produce a certain level of results within too short of a time period." – Jason A. OVERVIEW: “If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.” – Warren Buffet Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, answers a question from his text community regarding making big purchases. In this episode, Jason runs us through a step-by-step calculation to determine whether or not an expensive purchase is worth it.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason features a question from his text community. The inquirer recently opened a MedSpa and is looking to purchase expensive equipment. They're wondering if now would be the right time to continue with that purchase. Purchasing the equipment will add five additional services to what they can offer. There are no consumables related to those offers, and they can buy the laser at a discount. Jason recommends going back to the numbers. Typically, you don't want to finance anything that loses you money. However, in business, if you can buy something and pay for it over time while it makes you money, it's called Leveraging. You can look up free Amortization Calculators on Google. Don't focus so much on that big number. Instead, focus on the monthly payments and the number of patients required to execute and pay for this particular device.  The first rule of business is to use Leverage to grow your business and your income.    TWEETABLE QUOTES: “If you want to get an opportunity to buy an expensive piece of equipment, try and sit on it for a day or two. Don't let anybody pressure you into making quick, rapid decisions. Let your emotions simmer down and look at it from a rational, financial standpoint.” – Jason A. Ready your notepads because this episode is filled with timeless, life-changing insights you would want to remember.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Mridu's journey of time management and productivity and created a business revolving around helping people "have a real life." The best measurement for productivity is how you feel at the end of the day. Productivity doesn't depend on how much you accomplish but on the significance of what you accomplish. A common struggle is we focus too much on clearing our to-do lists and too little on "what's going to make me feel successful." A common misconception for business owners is they think "success" equals "doing more." Focus more on planning, and you're gonna have less and better doing. The 5 Umbrella to get the most of being productive Mridu provides several real-life examples of how to say no without sounding too dismissive and maintain client relationships. The best project management tool is the one you're going to use. If you're comfortable with Google Docs and it works for you, then use that for now.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Life is life. In this episode, Guy shares the story of how he built his businesses from the ground up, the rationale behind each process, and how virtual care has contributed to the massive change in our healthcare system. Tune in to learn more about the greatest instrument he's wielded since childhood: his mindset.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Guy grew up questioning things and thinking of new innovative solutions to any problem he could think of. He started venturing into start-ups around 2010, then later translated his businesses into telehealth and digital health SteadyMD was the highest version of virtual primary care you could access online in 2017. In 2020, they had an influx of other digital health companies asking to hire Guy's clinicians on their platform. This signaled the existence of a large market, so they geared the business into an on-demand 50-state clinician workforce wherein digital health companies can tap into. When hiring programmers, Guy recommends outsourcing from other countries for cost-effectiveness but always prefers to have at least one person from the US. Guy spent six months doing extensive research on telehealth, and digital health, and identifying how the healthcare industry could be improved for all.  In fundraising, resign yourself to having hundreds of meetings and repeating yourself a lot. Do your best and keep grinding. Don't get discouraged and impatient. Treat it as a rite of passage, a battle you have to get through. Be diligent when listening to questions and adjust your pitch based on those, not on what you think is the most convincing argument. There's no excuse for not knowing everything about your industry, company, and competitors. With the convenience of the internet today, there's no excuse for not keeping up with the industry happenings. You can't fail if you don't give up.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "Always assume that systems aren't optimized in the best way possible; that there's room for innovation." – Guy Friedman "Do your research. He also discusses a great software tool that will help you manage your projects, team, and communications more efficiently.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Making mental to-do lists, using sticky notes, or keeping track of tasks through a calendar is fine, but having a systematized way to handle everything that needs to get done for your business is an absolute must.  Asana is one of the best software tools Jason uses across multiple projects. One of the benefits is creating teams and managing communications for specific projects within the software program. Asana can be used to organize personal tasks as well, which is something Jason does. When you log in to the dashboard, you can easily see your to-do list for the day. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks with Hilary Bricken, Partner and Attorney, and Ethan Minkin, Attorney with Harris Bricken, an international law firm. Hilary and Ethan discuss the legalities of psychedelics and ketamine. They also highlight the value of entrepreneurship for moving psychedelic efficacy and advocacy forward.     EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Ethan started his law career in 1999 with an interest in healthcare regulatory work, litigation, and transaction. He joined Harris Bricken 1.5 years ago with a focus on psychedelics.  Hilary is a partner at Harris Bricken, and her expertise is in controlled substances regulation, legal reform, and policy reform. Psychedelics and ketamine have a potentially broader reach if regulations are relaxed. The path of entrepreneurship is critical for building a full suite of services for psychedelics.  Hilary and Ethan are proponents of off-label ketamine because it's innovative, guarantees an income stream, and is advantageous over its traditional use. Controlled substances can be prescribed through telemedicine under certain circumstances. Ketamine should be part of a treatment plan and not a one-stop option. Therapists and psychologists should be involved in a patient's care plan.  In the last three years, many clinics have added mental health therapy as part of their provider services. Combining ketamine and concierge care is possible as long as it's compliant with laws and regulations. False advertising is penalized under consumer protection laws, so credible studies must be cited in the literature.    TWEETABLE QUOTES  “A first-mover advantage is a thing, but if it's ketamine, you're dealing with a very antiquated, heavily regulated, extremely consequential system, so proceed accordingly.” – Hilary Bricken “If you're treating someone for a mental health issue, make sure they're also seeing a therapist or a psychologist, and not just getting ketamine and being sent on their way.”    - Ethan Minkin   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT: LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Facebook Group   RESOURCES: Harris Bricken website Harris Bricken Psychedelics Law Blog Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses by heading over to https://healthcareboss.org/masterclass/ Have a healthcare business question? OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about creating a roadmap to becoming financially free through pseudo-passive income. He weighs in on three methods to do this. He also presents the advantages of owning a business - especially a medical practice - as one of the most effective methods for achieving financial gains using pseudo-passive income.      EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: There's no such thing as passive income because you always need to do initial legwork and research. Jason prefers to call it pseudo-passive income and has identified three methods for this type of income to become financially free.  One method is to decrease expenses. There are several experts on YouTube talking about how best to do this, many in the homestead space. This method also includes penny-pinching, clipping coupons, or searching for the best deals. This can be referred to as living a scarcity lifestyle.  The second method is to increase your income by starting new businesses and building new revenue-generating streams. This is often referred to as choosing an abundant lifestyle.  The third method is a hybrid model. It includes getting rid of bad debt and keeping your expenses reasonable while also increasing income. If you're a budding entrepreneur, it's better to build a new business from scratch rather than buy one and leverage its debt. When you build a business, you develop the necessary skills required to be an owner and generate cash flow. The ultra-rich invest and reinvest their cash flow into assets that don't require a lot of work. They build businesses they can eventually extract themselves from so the business can run on its own and/or by a team. This provides a compound effect that has the potential to massively change your life.  Jason encourages healthcare professionals to consider creating a business by owning a practice. Leverage the skills and the healthcare knowledge you have to further develop business skills. Then, hire an RN, NP, practice manager, and/or physician.  Have a plan in place and get the balling rolling!    TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Bad debt is anything that doesn't put money into your bank account on a daily basis.” - Jason Duprat “Building a business from scratch requires a lot of work, but, in my opinion, it's 100% worth it.” - Jason Duprat   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT: LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Facebook Group   RESOURCES: BiggerPockets Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses by heading over to https://healthcareboss.org/masterclass/ Have a healthcare business question? Do you need a Medical Director? How do you find a Medical Director? How much should you pay a Medical Director? Tune into this episode as Jason dives deep into each of these questions.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS A Medical Director's role would include overviewing everything clinical-related in your practice, such as protocols, forms, standing orders, etc. If you don't have a healthcare license, you need a Medical Director to oversee your practice. In some states, a physician is required to be the Medical Director and, sometimes, even own the medical practice or run a Management Services Organization. Review your state's Nurse Practice Act to see if you can practice independently. To find a Medical Director, start by scouring your network with someone you know, like, and trust or posting on job sites with a thoroughly detailed job description. Be prepared to pay a professional salary. A Medical Director's fee would be somewhere in the range of $750-$1,500 or more per month, depending on various factors. Have a backup plan. Use platforms to hire your Medical Director, and it will save you tons of time and money in instances where businesses shut down due to the absence of a Medical Director.   TWEETABLE QUOTES “Trying to find the cheapest way is not always the best idea. Dr. Sharon Grossman is a psychologist, coach, and author specializing in helping high achievers transform from exhausted to extraordinary. With over 19 years of experience, she has worked with physicians, entrepreneurs, and nurses, guiding them to regain control over their lives and thrive. Her book, "The 7E Solution to Burnout: Transforming High Achievers from Exhausted to Extraordinary," has helped countless individuals find balance and success in their personal and professional lives.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Sharon Grossman is a psychologist turned coach who focuses on helping physicians and entrepreneurs manage burnout. She transitioned from therapy to coaching, as she was more passionate about coaching and wanted to focus on something that had a significant impact on people's lives. A lot of people experience burnout without really understanding what it is, so she made it her mission to educate the public about burnout, its signs, and its symptoms. The way she defines burnout is chronic stress, which is different from acute stress, and it starts to take a toll on a person when they keep coming up against the same problems again and again. Burnout happens for different reasons, such as working in a toxic work environment or having too much work to do in a short amount of time. Sharon helps her clients manage their minds, optimize their time, and change their relationship with themselves to prevent burnout and enjoy their work without overwhelm. Emotional exhaustion is a common symptom of burnout that drains energy and can lead to negative thoughts. Changing scenery or location can help break the pattern of burnout. A customized recovery strategy that targets individual contributing factors is essential to combat burnout. Decoding your burnout to identify contributing factors, including examining your programming, environmental stressors, and other parts of your life.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Your burnout might look very different from everybody else's burnout. It doesn't mean that what they have is burnout and that what you have is something else. It just means that you have a different version.” – Sharon Grossman “Psychologically, burnout can lead to increased irritability, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, and a decreased sense of accomplishment or satisfaction with work. OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the value of high-level masterminds with entrepreneurs who are crushing it. He recorded this episode while in Mexico, where he was attending a five-day mastermind event with Russell Brunson, the co-founder of the software company ClickFunnels. Jason highlights the importance of learning from others so you can follow their path to build a successful business.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: When you attend a high-level mastermind, you can network with like-minded professionals who are steps ahead of you. They can shine a light on your path forward.  At this particular conference, there are a variety of entrepreneurial levels. Some are just getting their funnels off the ground and some have worked for decades. Some are bricks and mortar owners, and others have online businesses and agencies.  Jason believes your business is an asset, so you should continuously strive to build your asset. OVERVIEW: "Teaching in the Internet age means we must teach tomorrow's skills today.” – Jennifer Fleming   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, explains why he no longer provides one-on-one coaching or consulting. He highlights the advantages of transitioning to group coaching and creating online courses to help scale your business.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason generously shared his expertise in ketamine therapy by offering personalized consulting sessions from late 2017 to early 2018. His mission was to pay it forward and support others along their journey. Personalized consulting is effective but time-consuming and limited in growth potential. As an entrepreneur, it's crucial to build assets that generate consistent income and contribute to your financial stability. Instead of trading your time for money, focus on building assets that generate an income passively.  Opting for group coaching and online learning can help you utilize your time more efficiently, allowing you to build assets that pay you more per hour and reach a larger audience. If you're a new business owner, Jason recommends starting with one-on-one coaching to hone your skills and share your experiences. As you become more proficient, you can transition to group coaching. If you have a business that's 100% dependent on you and your ability to produce, you simply own your job. Recognize and appreciate your own achievements, and then use your experience to empower others to do the same. Turn your superpower into a business that can generate $5-10k per month. For Jason, his side hustle in ketamine therapy blew up. He now offers three online courses – the Cash-Based Practice course, the Ketamine Academy, and the IV Therapy Academy. The Ketamine and the IV programs generate more than six figures per month.   TWEETABLE QUOTES:  “That's what it boils down to… I didn't want to continue trading my time for dollars, and I also wanted to create an asset and build a real business.” – Jason Duprat “Once you start to train your mind to think like a business person… you'll start to pinpoint all sorts of different areas of inefficiencies in your business… even your personal life…” – Jason Duprat   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT: LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Facebook Group   RESOURCES: Sign up for one of our free business start-up Masterclasses at https://jasonduprat.com/freemasterclass Have a healthcare business question? OVERVIEW: "It's fine to celebrate success, but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure." — Bill Gates   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Boss Academy podcast, sits down with Dave Soltau, Co-Founder of Advanced Clinical Associates & A.C.A. Wellness Institute, Public Speaker, and Author of "The Student Entrepreneur." With multiple decades of experience in entrepreneurship and the people business, Dave has gone through both hardships and historical success in his career. Tune into this episode to learn more about his journey and hear his advice for starting.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Chasing "shiny objects" are always exciting, but the problem is that you'll always be starting from scratch with each new thing you chase. If you build your business from scratch, it will take a long time. However, if you buy an existing business, you may be buying a problem or an established potential success that tired owners have let go of. If a business relies on keeping a patient healthy, when that patient passes away, that business will die down along with them. It's safer to have a larger volume of clients over one or two that generate a lot of money. Your greatest assets are the essential people in your company who you put in the right seats. Many entrepreneurs stop in their tracks due to several possible reasons. One big reason could be the failure to reach the R.O.I. they envisioned. Mission first, people always. As long as you're taking good care of great people, there's no reason why you can't excel in this industry. To contact Dave, please visit their website at advancedclinicalaz.com or email him at dave@advancedclinicalaz.com. He is always available on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "The most interesting part about starting businesses is how many times you fail before you succeed, but when you finally do succeed, it's typically and historically a good success." — Dave Soltau "We know what we don't know, and it's okay. OVERVIEW: "Keep it simple, stupid!" - A design principle noted by the U.S. Navy   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about keeping your business "Simple." Jason shares one of the most common traps new business owners fall into – chasing "Shiny Objects" or feeling the need to be "Extraordinary." You don't need to do extraordinary things to achieve extraordinary results, and in this episode, Jason explains why. Tune in until the end to hear about Jason's new rank-topping book!   3 KEY POINTS: Always think of ways to simplify your business processes. Don't overthink, and don't overcomplicate. Think forward to the impact of your decision years down the line.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: "Keep it simple, stupid" is a powerful motto Jason has followed since he heard it from his high school teacher. People often believe they need to be wildly "extraordinary" and accomplish "complex" feats. In an interview, Warren Buffet once said, "you don't have to do exceptional things to get exceptional results." Instead of doing extraordinary things, strive to do simple things extraordinarily. Business owners who dislike doing "boring" work and are distracted and chase down new, exciting, shiny objects usually deliver subpar results. Moving from "good to great" and "great to exceptional" takes a lot of time, effort, repetition, and going through the "boring" things that feel as if they don't make any progress. As an example, Jason and his team are in the process of simplifying their business. He will consolidate his different business entities into one overarching brand called "Healthcare Boss" to avoid the complexity of using several accounts for several apps.   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube Email: support@jasonduprat.com Join our Facebook group: https://jasonduprat.com/group    RESOURCES Want to become an IV Nutritional Therapy provider? OVERVIEW: “Efficiency is doing better what is already being done.” – Peter Drucker   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the importance of systems and processes. In business, every single second of every single team member counts, so in this episode, Jason teaches us how to streamline workflows and maximize efficiency and productivity through automation, software, and A.I. tools. Tune in until the end to learn more about Jason's book!   3 KEY POINTS: Document every step of your team's tasks or job functions. Use software tools to lessen the risk of human errors. Build systems and processes while your business is still small or has yet to start.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: All businesses run on a series of workflows, wherein much of what our team members or we do is repetitive. In today's episode, Jason runs us through his repetitive workflow when producing and publishing his podcast as an example. Jason learned some of his workflow efficiency strategies from Richard Winters, part of his Mastermind Group and a previous guest on this podcast. Document every step of your or your team's tasks or job functions. A summary of Jason's workflow is that he records his podcast episodes and uploads the individual audio and video files on Google Drive to pass on to his podcast team. The team then has its own workflow with multiple steps from editing to publishing. All the individual steps in these processes require multiple clicks and much time. We can optimize any workflow by reducing repetitive tasks to a minimum. To help streamline his business processes, Jason ensures he's always up-to-date with the latest software and technology and utilizes whatever is most beneficial. Jason used to record his Podcast with his Rodecaster Pro and transfer the files to his desktop afterward. To make things easier, he now records on Riverside.fm and pairs it with Zapier to automatically upload his recordings to Google Drive and notify his team. The Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy Podcast uses Libsyn as its hosting platform. One of Libsyn's great features is connecting to Jason's website on WordPress, wherein published episodes will automatically be uploaded to Jason's page. Jason and his team use software and A.I. tools for various purposes: Recording Editing, Project Management, Password Management, and many more. Software tools not only improve efficiency. They help reduce human errors. OVERVIEW: “It's important to remember your competitor is only one mouse click away.” - Douglas Warner III Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, sits down with Justin Knott, CEO of Intrepy, a Healthcare Marketing Organization, and Host of the Patient Convert Podcast. In this episode, we dive into Justin's expertise in Marketing Strategy, Search Engine Optimization, and Paid Ads. He shares valuable tips on webpage creation, content creation, and many more. Tune in to learn how to get ahead of your competitors!   3 KEY POINTS: Create unique content that brings you ahead of the game. Plan a month ahead. Your time is worth more money than anything else. Maximize SEO to your advantage. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Justin is the CEO of the company and is running the day-to-day operations of their business, while Kelly, his wife, is the president and co-founder, focusing on content creation and helping Justin develop their sales pipeline. "Google My Business" is foundational for ranking in the top three for the conditions, treatments, and surgeries you provide. If you want to rank for it, you need a page. If you don't create unique content that gives you a fighting chance against your competitors, you're already way behind. According to Justin, when maximizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO), an example is putting 2,000 words on your page to get it to rank. However, focusing 100% on SEO sacrifices your page's web development, web design, and UX design aspects, and it may result in something not so enticing for your audiences to read. There are two good ways to remedy this. One is relying on Video content as it can help you rank and increases your consumers' page time while watching the video. Another workaround is to use Accordion-Style FAQs to your advantage, wherein you move a lot of content down the page without them overloading. When creating your page, the two most important things to include in a title tag are "What you do" and "Where you're at." The second most important piece is the H1 tag, typically a big, bold page title. After these, it all comes down to what the readers will see when they read your page. To maximize SEO for your page, ensure you have good section headers, as they're what Google Crawlers observe when scanning your page. If you're creating video content, you're ahead of the game. Many competitors generally never venture into video content because they "over-complicate." When starting something, don't overthink it, and keep it simple. Example: When creating video content, buy simple equipment, just the bare minimum of what you need. Not overthinking things means you're more likely to get it done. For video content, Justin highly recommends hosting on YouTube. It's the second-largest search engine and is owned by Google. Entering the top 3 Google Search Rankings should be your focus. 80-90% of all organic search clicks are pulled from the top 3 search results. Backlinks are links on any website that's not yours that point back to your page. They help build domain authority quickly by showing Google that other pages trust your page enough to provide your link on their page. Feel free to connect with Justin Knott on LinkedIn. If you need marketing assistance, visit www.intrepy.com to connect with their agency. They have a podcast called Patient Convert Podcast. They also have a free practice assessment. If you're trying to figure out where you're struggling to add value or how you can grow in 2023, consider booking a call with Justin. TWEETABLE QUOTES: "If you're doing video, you're ahead of the game. A lot of physicians, surgeons, practices in general never get started on video because they way overcomplicate it." – Justin Knott "Plan a month ahead. That's probably the biggest thing that I encourage physicians. Your schedule is crazier than anybody else's, and your time is worth more money than anybody else's." – Justin Knott   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube Email: support@jasonduprat.com Join our Facebook group: https://jasonduprat.com/group     RESOURCES Want to become an IV Nutritional Therapy provider? OVERVIEW: “People are not your most important asset. The right people are.” – Jim Collins Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the best practices when hiring for managerial roles. In this episode, Jason recalls his experiences with recent mis-hires, his key takeaways to avoid potential hiring mistakes, and red flags to consider when screening applicants. Tune in until the end to learn more about his recently launched book! 3 KEY POINTS: Don't hire managers with potential. Hire those with experience. Don't ever lowball your offer. If you want top-tier talent, you must be willing to pay well. Don't hire entrepreneurs. Hire intrapreneurs. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason recently had mis-hires for the marketing director position of his business. He's since learned from these experiences and has solidified his hiring process. He's also received advice from his mastermind group, the Board of Experts by Anik Singal. For your business to grow 3x or 5x, you'd want to hire someone with proven experience. Use personality tests to identify an applicant's compatibility with a role. Jason suggests doing a minimum of three interviews to evaluate an applicant thoroughly. He also recommends having other critical people in the business interview the applicants since they'll potentially be working with them. If even one interviewer isn't assured with an applicant, they won't go any further in the hiring process. Don't dwell on making everything perfect. Don't settle for less. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: As an entrepreneur, you've already created a solution for your clients. You have the foundation to be a great critical thinker. Beyond that, you must master being a critical thinker because there will be daily problems in your business. Jason and his team are currently handling multiple challenges inside the business, mainly his upcoming book launch. His first-ever book, "Clinic Launch Secrets: The Healthcare Professional's Playbook for Boosting Income and Autonomy through Practice Ownership," will be launched on March 12-18. When facing something for the first time, there will be more uncertainties, making the hurdle much steeper to overcome. You may shortcut your process with the help of assistants and consultants, but sometimes you have to do the work yourself. Jason's next challenge with his book launch is needing Amazon Reviews. The solution they thought of is, for one time only, to offer the book as a Kindle version for ¢99 on March 12-18. Jason highly recommends the book as it contains high-quality content, some even taken directly from his courses. In this episode, we hear the story of how two innovative minds came together to revolutionize Healthcare through their Entrepreneurial vision. From the challenges they've overcome to the solutions they create, Joey's innovation paved the path toward their "good fortune."   3 KEY POINTS: You'll get to where you need to be, but take it one step at a time. To start a business, know what you're good at and talk to people about that. Sales expertise boils down to repetition.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Joey has a strong passion for entrepreneurship, even as a child. He once veered away from his Entrepreneurial passion and pursued Nursing for its financial security. Later, upon meeting his now business partner, Taofiki, he realized he could pursue both Entrepreneurship and Healthcare without sacrificing either. They discovered they had the same entrepreneurial passion and decided to work together towards a common goal. Joey creates products for ether two reasons: Solving a problem and providing convenience, even without much financial gain Creating a viable and potential business opportunity When creating prototypes, it doesn't have to be the final product. You simply want to test, feel, and play with it. Be okay with accepting the solution that might look different than when you first started. Joey and Taofiki are registered nurses who invented a new way to pad bed rails for patients on seizure precautions in the hospital setting. They source their materials from Alibaba from a manufacturer who can make the products in their desired dimensions. Once their business got off the ground, the product's revenue fueled itself. They once had struggles with their inventory. Fortunately, they won the 2020 Innovation Award and received $50,000, wherein half was directly invested in solving their inventory concerns. Joey recommends Wave Apps, a free software for new businesses for handling invoices, adding various products, adding customers, etc. Joey recommends upgrading to a paid tool when your business begins to scale. Sales expertise boils down to repetition. If you're not too experienced in sales yet, you might feel as if you're "bothering" people. #313: Understanding The Bell Curve of Entrepreneurship

OVERVIEW: “Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don't fight them. Just find a new way to stand.” – Oprah Winfrey Jason A. 3 KEY POINTS: You won't always be satisfied with your business, but that frustration will improve you. It takes a lot of work to attract top talent, especially for a small business. Marketing is one of the most critical components of a business. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: For podcast listeners, a video version of the episode will be released on YouTube, showcasing the graphs Jason mentioned throughout the episode. Jason's Bell Curve of Entrepreneurship consists of X and Y axes, wherein the Y-axis indicates the probability, while the X-axis indicates the distribution of the dataset. Most entrepreneurs running decent businesses are in the middle (mean score) of the bell curve. The bell curve can be Extreme Satisfaction or Elation. On the other side is Extreme Dissatisfaction or Frustration. Frustration is normal and makes you better. Don't beat yourself up about it. Keep your eyes on the prize, focus, and always seek the advice of experts who've overcome your same struggle multiple times. It's challenging to attract top talent as a relatively unknown small business. Marketing is one of the most critical business components you should invest in. You need a strong marketing arm to keep up with your business plans. Keep your eye on the prize, stay focused, and listen to advice from entrepreneurs with a lot more experience." – Jason A. Duprat

Tune in until the end to learn more about Jason's upcoming services and book launch!   3 KEY POINTS: No matter your business, always have free content or services available to your customers. The biggest challenge for clinic owners is marketing, lead generation, and customer retention. The Value Ladder helps you increase your Customer Lifetime Value. Jason and his team are working on tiers even higher than that, such as SEO tools and Mastermind events. No matter the kind of business you own, always have free content or services available to your customers. Jason recommends sharing free content on YouTube as it's the second-largest search engine run by Google.  People with much business experience realize that when you pay more, you gain more. As a customer with free content, you must do all the work yourself. Jason will be hosting a virtual event on May 3-5. To get notified, text Jason at 407-972-0084.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: "If nobody knows about your business, you won't have any customers. OVERVIEW: “You don't build a business, you build people, then people build the business.” – Zig Ziglar   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, sits down with Eric Morin, Wealth and Business coach, Forbes Speaker, Author, and CEO & Founder of Tower Leadership. Eric's passion and wisdom for business are like no other, with expertise able to scale businesses up to tenfold in revenue. In this episode, we dive into the mind of this business expert, his story of becoming one, and his timeless advice for healthcare entrepreneurs.   3 KEY POINTS: Hire great talent and build great teams who can run the show. Solidify your business' Executive and Operations roles. Reflect on "Why" you need to scale your business and build a financial strategy around that.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Eric is an entrepreneur by nature and has always had a passion for business. He did consulting work for companies with up to $20 million in Revenue by himself. When he started a Dental Practice, he grew and scaled it so quickly that specialists asked him to help other general practitioners. They've taken people from $9 million to $100 million in revenue in 12 months. He considers taking his passion for business, finance, and math to help people grow to be "a lot of fun." During their start-up stages, he would focus on the business aspects while his wife, a Dentist, would focus on all the medicine. As a start-up, they focused on two things: Pre-marketing to make sure they had patients lined up before opening the practice Assembling ang great team. Large company leaders think, "How do assemble the best team?" while smaller company leaders try to do everything themselves, significantly hindering a business' scaling pace. For Eric, the thing that attracts great talent is the opportunity to show their capabilities and build their future. Get your team excited to go with you by finding out and giving what they want and showing them where their future is headed. When getting a business partner, you must know that person, their paradigm, and their financial strategies. There are only two reasons to give up equity: Capabilities or Capital Does this person bring capital to the table? Do they have capabilities or knowledge you don't have? The Executive and Operations Roles must be 100% solid and locked in for a business to scale. So many healthcare practices that scale do not track what made them great. Eric's method for scaling a business is first to identify "why" you want to scale, then to create a financial strategy around that. As capital rises, Growth Eats Cash. As you grow, it requires more cash, and you'll need a cash flow management strategy. Leadership teams in organizations can use scorecards to measure key metrics and determine whether the practice is on pace. Eric mentions the book "Measure What Matters" by John Doerr, which talks about systems such as OKRs that have integral in large organizations. Eric's business, Tower Leadership, works with healthcare entrepreneurs who have hit a roadblock and are trying to grow and scale.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: “Past success doesn't always equate to future success." – Eric Morin  "There are only two reasons that you should ever give up equity: Capabilities or Capital." – Eric Morin   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube Email: support@jasonduprat.com Join our Facebook group: https://jasonduprat.com/group    RESOURCES Want to become an IV Nutritional Therapy provider? #310: A Guide to the Product Life Cycle, Cash Generation, and the BCG Matrix

OVERVIEW:   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the Product Life Cycle and what it means for your business. In this episode, we'll learn how Cash Generation ties in with Cash Usage as Jason elaborates on the Growth Share Matrix and its four quadrants. Tune into this episode to learn more about leveraging your business income!   3 KEY POINTS: Cash Cows are the golden goose that funds your businesses. What you earn from Cash Cows is invested into “Question Marks.” Question Marks either become “Stars” or “Dogs.”   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason uses the BCG matrix, a diagram that helps to put things into perspective what big companies go through when they have multiple products and divisions, and they're trying to work towards the following product or service line. This applies to you if you have a business, big or small, whatever industry. The BCG Matrix is also referred to as the Growth Share Matrix. Stay tuned on YouTube for the Video version of the episode showcasing the diagram. The matrix is a Four-Quadrant Graph, having X and Y axes. The X-axis represents Cash Generation. The Y-axis represents Cash Usage. In the bottom-left corner, with Low Cash Usage & High Cash Generation, is what's called a "Cash Cow." If you want to keep growing, you have to leverage the revenue from your Cash Cow to start a new product or service line. The problem with cash cows is that the product can die down. The delivery can get stale, and new competition can come in." You can't just sit on one Cash Cow and expect it to last forever. What most businesses do is they'll invest the money earned from that Cash Cow. In the top-right corner, with Low Cash Generation & High Cash Usage, is the "Question Mark." You invest in this product or service to build it up. Everything starts as a question mark at some point. From a Question mark, it can quickly move over to a Star (top-left, High Cash Generation & High Cash Usage) or a dog (bottom-right, Low Cash Generation & Low Cash Usage). If you're very experienced, most of your question marks will turn into Stars, which is high in Cash Generation but also needs a good amount of Cash to operate continuously. Throughout the episode, Jason discusses different services they're working on as an example of how to leverage the BCG Matrix. While this isn't a hard rule, Jason suggests not putting all your time and investment into "Dogs" because that's not where the business growth opportunities are. Solving your existing customers' problems is much better for ROI and increases your Customer Lifetime Value (CLV).   TWEETABLE QUOTES:   "The Cash Cow is what your business leverages to produce the income necessary to develop, add, create, or build additional products or services." – Jason A. Duprat   "Start with just one or two products or services. If you get really good at those, at some point, you're going to develop a Cash Cow." – Jason A. OVERVIEW:   “Good things happen to those who hustle.” – Anais Nin   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, talks about the proper way to execute your side hustle. Coming from experience, Jason shares how side hustles should be done discreetly and wisely when you have a full-time job and the possible consequences of not doing so. Tune in until the end to hear about Jason's upcoming mastermind and book launch!   3 KEY POINTS: When starting your side hustle: Don't burn bridges. Do it discreetly. Do it wisely.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Many individuals start their side hustles while working full-time for an employer. Make sure you're not burning bridges along the way. Be careful not to let your employer find out about your side hustle, as they could view it as you not being fully committed to your job. In the worst-case scenario, you might get an ultimatum from your employer. If you are pursuing a side hustle, do it discreetly without revealing the details to everyone. Many start their side hustles to leave their full-time job eventually. Once their business is enough to sustain their cost of living, they transition out of their job, which is what Jason did. To do your side hustle discreetly, refrain from doing things that will draw a lot of attention to you being the business owner, such as having your name in the business and having your face revealed on the business' website. Share your business ideas and express your enthusiasm only to your clients, team, and family, not your co-workers. Jason highly encourages you to start a side hustle. There are substantial tax advantages, your business could scale and exceed the income from your full-time job, it is fun and challenging, and you have complete autonomy. This March, Jason will be launching his book entitled "Clinic Launch Secrets." Jason will be providing more details soon.   TWEETABLE QUOTES:   "I encourage you to definitely start those side hustles because they can be life-changing." – Jason A. "The wise young man or wage earner of today invests his money in real estate." – Andrew Carnegie.   Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, sits down with Trisha Talbot, Founder of Doc Properties and Real Estate Advisor in the Healthcare Space. In this episode, Trisha shares why it's always best to hire a competent Real Estate Professional: To help you make informed decisions, find the best deals, get the most out of your Real Estate, and many more. We also learn that NOT hiring a Real Estate professional backfired for some who chose to take matters into their own hands.   3 KEY POINTS: Hire Real Estate Professionals who can help you make well-informed Real Estate decisions. When getting into Real Estate, Hire an Accountant to help you with Tax Strategies. Never own any Real Estate, even your own residence, in your name.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Trisha has always been drawn to the performance-based atmosphere. She got into commercial Real Estate and worked with a developer that developed medical office buildings. This launched her into her current career. According to Trisha, one of the best things you can do, especially if you're an entrepreneur owning your own practice, is to own the Real Estate. It offers tax advantage, appreciates, is like another business line, and is safe because you're the tenant in the building. When you get into Real Estate, have an accountant to help you with tax strategies. Any time you own a building, you want to have a lease on it. Also, you'd want to pay yourself because the income from that lease is less than paying yourself W2 income which is taxed at a higher rate. If you buy a building and have to manage tenants, Trisha recommends hiring a Brokerage Firm to lease it out for you because they see more deals and know how to structure negotiations with changing market conditions. In the Triple Net Lease, since the tenant pays all the expenses, any increase in expenses is theirs to bear. You should never own a piece of Real Estate, or even your own residence, in your own name. There are some Trusts where you can put your assets to protect them from malpractice insurance. Find a Broker you can work with to make your life easier when looking into purchasing Real Estate properties. You can reach Trisha through her website, https://docproperties.com/, her email ttalbot@docproperties.com, or her number 480-369-7983. Trisha does Healthcare Real Estate and helps Clinicians with, typically, their physician-owned Real Estate. She also does Corporate Representation work and tackles the investment side as well.   TWEETABLE QUOTES:   "Before you can really help somebody pick a piece of Real Estate, you need to understand why they need that Real Estate." – Trisha Talbot   "You should never own a piece of Real Estate, even your own residence, in your name." – Trisha Talbot   CONNECT WITH JASON DUPRAT LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram | Youtube Email: support@jasonduprat.com Join our Facebook group: https://jasonduprat.com/group    RESOURCES Want to become a Ketamine Therapy provider?
