Actress Kylie Bunbury is intentionally vulnerable enough to discover her true self. In her conversation with close friend Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins, Kylie lets go of her “armor” and reveals secrets from her past to tell her most authentic story. Kylie opens up about the sexual abuse she experienced growing up, and how she's healing on the other side of it. Kylie believes that as long as she's honest with herself, she's moving forward.Want more podcasts from OWN? Happy Wine Wednesday, Pitches! Sheena joins me this week to discuss a beloved show that was cancelled far too soon - Pitch. We unpack the pilot episode of the show and work through some of our salty feelings about this fantastic series only getting one season. We kick off by discussing our introduction to Ginny Baker - portrayed by the amazing Kylie Bunbury - and the use of sports commentary to help us get acquainted with the glass ceiling smashing pitcher and the world in which she is making her debut as the first woman to be called up to a Major League Baseball team. Next, we get into memorable character introductions outside of Ginny. We talk about the influence and abuse of her father Bill Baker (Michael Beach). We discuss Amelia (Ali Larter) as Ginny's no nonsense agent and we swoon over Blip Sanders (Mo McRae). We share our thoughts on what worked well in the pilot and whether there was anything we would have done differently. And as always, you know we got into our thirsty thoughts inspired by this very hot cast. Friendly reminder: we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time. Thanks so much for listening! I love this movie!!! I had Movie Pass, don't we miss that option, and saw this movie 7 times in theaters (3 of those times were with other people). I have the giant wall hanging poster in my guest room. It stars Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, along with Kyle Chandler, Sharon Horgan, Billy Magnussen, Lamorne Morris, Kylie Bunbury, Jesse Plemons, and more. This was co-written and co-directed by John Francis Daley who you might remember as Sweets in Bones, his dad is the bartender in the movie. So for this episode the tables were turned and I was one of the ones that had to drink more and drink during the recording. The Big Sky Pilot on ABC wasn't as big of a success as I was hoping for. It's a good story with lots of potential, but couldn't quite seem to put it all together.
Today we're joined by the Mayor of Red Sox Nation (Los Angeles Chapter), actress Hilary Barraford! (4:08) A long time baseball and A League of Their Own fan, she anoints Tierney a true Bostonian, declares the TV series to be in good hands, and shares what it was like to have Penny Marshall “whispering” in her ear while working on The United States of Tara. There are plenty of surprises along the way involving Kylie Bunbury, Becky the Icebox, and David Ortiz, as well as important questions like what's the last great baseball movie? Be sure to check out Ellen Adair's podcast Take Me in to the Ballgame after listening to our latest episode.
