Idea: A lifestyle where you party on the weekend and go into an intentional coma during the week (or longer if necessary), during which you're weened off drugs, you lose weight (if necessary), basic and cosmetic hygiene (such as getting a tattoo) is performed on you, etc. and you afford the "coma punk" lifestyle by being an influencer, letting scientists experiment on your body, and/or by saving money by not needing an apartment. Also: you could do it temporarily during a flight, to recover from a bachelor party, or to lose weight instead of making it a lifestyle; if you were a "coma punk" during summer break in college, maybe you wouldn't be conscious long enough to forget your studies; the risk of waking up in a bad state hooked up to machines in a drawer, or waking up at the correct time but having floppy weak muscles like in "Kill Bill"; maybe this isn't plausible in real life but it would make a great movie plot Tyler Beans (facebook.com/tyler.warmbein.3) Emeka Nriagu (facebook.com/emeka.nriagu instagram.com/emurkadurk) Ben Champion (instagram.com/_champ_is.here facebook.com/ben.champion.39) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com x.com/thomaswalma twitch.tv/gameymcfitness) This podcast is part of Planet Ant Podcasts (https://planetant.com) This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Send us a textKatie and Bridget promise to be each other's Huckleberries as they re-watch the cowboy classic: Tombstone! It's a movie all about how when there's no sound law and order the people will go crazy, and having free access to guns will result in murders, and peaceful protests won't do shit when the crazies are still walking around free!!!!! ...We swear this movie takes place in the 1800s! Come along as we meet Wyatt Earp, a lawman who's just trying to retire to the up and coming town of Tombstone Arizona with his brothers and BFF Doc Holiday. When reckless cowboys start messing up the town, Wyatt takes the law into his own hands and basically goes on a Kill Bill inspired killing spree across the desert - with friends! It's got action, laughs, Billy Zane, a kind of love story, and most importantly mustaches. Lots and lots of mustaches. Released in 1993 (the best year for movies), it stars an insane amount of actors including: Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, Powers Boothe, Dana Delany, Billy Bob Thornton, and Billy Zane.

In Episode 407 of Friends Talking Nerdy, Professor Aubrey and Tim the Nerd dive into a packed lineup of topics, mixing nerd culture, activism, and a little wrestling nostalgia! The episode kicks off with a lively new segment, Best Film/Worst Film, inspired by The John Campea Show. This week, Aubrey and Tim put three legendary directors under the microscope: Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner, and Quentin Tarantino. They debate and discuss the highs and lows from each filmmaker's career, covering classics like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2, and more — as well as some controversial misfires like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Expect a spirited, insightful discussion full of hot takes and surprising opinions!Next, Professor Aubrey shares her experience participating in another Tesla Takedown protest. Dressed as a narwhal with a sign that boldly declared "Narwhals Against Nazis," she recounts the energy, creativity, and importance of standing up for what's right, blending humor with powerful activism.Tim the Nerd also has a lot to celebrate this week. He talks about his guest spot on The MCU's Bleeding Edge YouTube show, where he joined the crew to break down the 1985 action classic Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Get Tim's behind-the-scenes take and hear why this cheesy, bullet-riddled movie still holds a special place in action movie history. Finally, Tim discusses the WWE's recent efforts to upload more classic content to their official YouTube channel. He reflects on how YouTube may actually be a better home for some older, niche content — compared to platforms like Peacock — and draws interesting parallels to how beloved shows like Jeopardy find new life through accessible streaming options. As always, we wish to thank Christopher Lazarek for his wonderful theme song. I'm not sure how to show my love for this film. It did so much for my love of cinematic diversity. Watching kung-fu movies on TBS or USA or whatever was always a treat but I had not idea what was going on or if there was a plot. Kill Bill became a widely loved film of cinephiles who gushed over the camera action and the screenplay. At the time, I had no idea it borrowed so much material from Japanese cinema. Kill Bill, while clearly Americanized, is a revenge movie and cultural soup that gives the American audience a violence they so desire wrapped in a revenge narrative few Hollywood films dare to explore. If you like Kill Bill, please watch Lady Snowblood to witness the inspiration.

Welcome to the DMF. I'm Justin Younts. In this video, I dive into the filmmakers who have inspired me the most throughout my journey in filmmaking. From Quentin Tarantino's unique storytelling style to Christopher Nolan's innovative techniques, I share my thoughts on what makes their work so impactful. Tarantino's use of violence as a stylistic choice and his chapter-based storytelling in films like 'Kill Bill' have always fascinated me. I appreciate how he keeps audiences guessing about how the chapters connect, creating a compelling narrative. Wes Anderson's attention to detail, especially in films like 'Asteroid City,' captivates me as well. I often find myself watching films on airplanes, fully immersed in the experience, and Anderson's work is no exception. His characters and storytelling approach resonate deeply with me. Then there's Christopher Nolan, who I admire for his ability to tell complex stories in a concise manner. His background in commercial advertising has shaped his storytelling skills, allowing him to convey powerful narratives in a short amount of time. I discuss how his films, like 'Interstellar,' explore profound themes of family and sacrifice, and how his commitment to practical effects enhances the viewing experience. I also touch on the importance of a strong script, as seen in shows like 'Westworld,' and how it can keep viewers engaged across multiple episodes. I reflect on the emotional depth of films like 'Interstellar' and 'Oppenheimer,' and how they leave a lasting impact on audiences. Join me as I explore these filmmakers' influences and share my passion for cinema. Whether you're a budding filmmaker or a film enthusiast, there's something to learn from these masters of storytelling. Marina Anderson Ex-Wife of David Carradine, The Eye of My Tornado / Four Feet to Fame: A Hollywood Dog Trainer's Journeyop culture/Memoir/autobiography.This is a significant and very personal book. This book has been inducted into the Johnny Grant Hollywood Walk of Fame Library."...it was one long rollercoaster thrill... Mr. Toad's wild ride...intense passion and emotion. He was the eye of my tornado." Marina Anderson.Marina Anderson was just starting out taking acting lessons at Warner Bros., when she wandered one afternoon onto the candlelit set of a Shaolin temple and met for the first time, the volatile, dark and brilliant personality that was actor and icon, David Carradine. Two dynamic people merging into a karmic-destined, intense and turbulent love relationship. Each struggling with their own demons including sexual abuse and incest. Their private life was replete with love, passion, erotic pleasure and eventually bondage, sexual experimentation, and pain as an avenue to pleasure. Their marriage was marred by a toxic secret that could not be ignored. Her writing speaks to readers universally by focusing on their personal journey, revealing the truth about the couple, addresses conquering fear and overcoming obstacles, self discovery, recovery, re-inventing and rebuilding one's self. It's her personal survival while desperately trying to save the marriage as well as Carradine's constant struggle to be someone he wasn't, but wished he could be. Spirituality, psychic John Edward, other psychics and astrologers who helped her are written about in the book as well. They were married on the Warner Bros. back lot and their six-year relationship was a whirl of auditions, star-studded parties, exotic locations, red carpets and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Marina, who was already an established actress, became Carradine's personal manager and set about rehabilitating the career of an actor who was now known for his heavy drinking. She introduced him to Quentin Tarantino, who cast David in a lead role in the popular Kill Bill films. This vaulted Carradine back onto the Hollywood A-list.After their divorce with the help of re-known celebrity Dr. Drew Pinsky (Celebrity Rehab, Sober House), issues are addressed in the consultation verbatim, occupying an entire chapter. Anderson was able to finally exorcise the demons that have haunted her for so long about their relationship and herself that almost destroyed her. "This book is an avenue for his fans and the general public to know, understand and hopefully accept him as a man, not a celluloid fantasy...to be admired for his talents and the motivations behind certain issues in his life understood. It's also to reveal the very personal interior of a marriage that people can relate to. What we do for love. We are all human beings with our faults. He was afraid people wouldn't remember him. That will never happen. The legend continues."David Carradine's acting career spanned four decades onstage, television and cinema. He became an international sensation as Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s hit television series Kung Fu and cemented his cult hero status with his role in the classic movie Death Race 2000. He portrayed Woody Guthrie in Hal Ashby's Bound for Glory and Bill in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films. Carradine received four Golden Globe nominations. He was a talented songwriter and musician and performed in a band called Cosmic Rescue Team.He died in a Bangkok hotel room, June 3, 2009, an apparent victim of autoerotic asphyxiation. Amid sensational media speculation, Marina refused to let David's death remain stigmatized like it was and launched her own investigation into the death of her ex-husband. Suicide? Foul play? A sex act gone wrong? Was he alone? Was there a cover-up? Her conclusions are startling.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

The Great Women Artists

I am so excited to say that my guest on the GWA Podcast is the acclaimed painter, Rose Wylie! Born in 1934, as the youngest of seven children to Victorian parents, Wylie spent her early childhood in India before coming to England aged 5. This was in 1939, in the midst of a bomb-filled Second World War and increasingly fractured world. She went on to study figurative painting, at Folkestone and Dover College of Art in Kent from 1952–56, at a time when tutors would say to her ‘It's no good bothering with you, you're a girl, you'll get married, have children and that'll be that.' … It was then to a teacher training programme at Goldsmiths before putting art aside to raise three children. This was, until 1979 when Wylie returned to the studio enrolling at the Royal College of Art, in her early 40s. Her first solo exhibition came a few years later in 1985, but despite Wylie working in her cottage-slash-studio in Kent for the last 50+ years – where we are very excitingly recording today – it was not until the last 10–15 years that her work has been given the attention and acclaim it has always deserved. Playful and fractured, featuring text overlaid with image, witnessing a Rose Wylie painting in person is to see the world in a different way. Wylie takes recognisable elements from pop culture, history, mythology, sport, even the Bible – from flowers, battenberg cakes, sportstars, queens, to the likes of Nicole Kidman and Emily Maitlis – and shows us them anew, in her paintings that are void of perspective to the point that there is no indication of where the work starts or ends. Her paintings are sometimes full of movement – like a football being kicked, almost balletically, with players, clad in yellow, darting across the dotty canvas that surrounds its viewer. At other times they remind me of a film playing out – like the blood-clad figure lying on the floor in Kill Bill – or even a script with stage directions featuring phrases like “getting dark” or “yellow” … Wylie's paintings are full of decisions, ideas, and the more I look at them, the more her world opens up… Now 90 years old, after a celebrity-filled birthday bash, Wylie is back better than ever for her exhibition at David Zwirner London “When Found becomes Given”, opening on April 3rd, and I couldn't be more delighted to be speaking to her at her Kent-based studio today. Click here to try it out!Welcome back to Bad Dads Film Review! This episode, we're diving into the Top 5 Tarantino Moments, revisiting the high-stakes drama of ER, and wrapping up with some animated sci-fi fun with Duck Dodgers.Top 5 Tarantino MomentsQuentin Tarantino has given us some of the most unforgettable moments in modern cinema. His signature mix of sharp dialogue, brutal violence, and unexpected humor makes his films stand out. Here are five of his most iconic moments:The “Royale with Cheese” Conversation – Pulp Fiction (1994) Before anything even happens, Vincent (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) discuss European fast food with absurd detail, setting the tone for Tarantino's unique blend of casual conversation and impending violence. The Tavern Standoff – Inglourious Basterds (2009) What starts as a simple undercover mission turns into a slow-burn, tension-filled masterpiece. The suspense, the performances, and that final explosion of violence make this one of Tarantino's greatest scenes.Mr. Blonde's Dance – Reservoir Dogs (1992) Michael Madsen's sadistic yet strangely charming dance to Stuck in the Middle with You before torturing a cop is pure Tarantino—cool, unsettling, and unforgettable. The Bride vs. The Crazy 88 – Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) Uma Thurman's battle against a seemingly endless wave of sword-wielding assassins is one of the greatest action sequences in modern cinema, complete with Tarantino's love for stylized violence.Candyland Dinner – Django Unchained (2012) Leonardo DiCaprio's chilling performance as Calvin Candie reaches its peak during this tense dinner scene. The reveal of Django's plan and the real-life glass-smashing moment make this unforgettable.Main Feature: ERBefore Tarantino became a household name, he directed an episode of ER in 1995 titled Motherhood. While he didn't get to add any of his trademark bloodbaths, his influence is evident in the episode's fast-paced, chaotic energy, whip-smart dialogue, and stylish camera work.Beyond Tarantino's contribution, ER was one of the defining medical dramas of the ‘90s and early 2000s. It delivered intense, emotionally charged episodes with a cast led by George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, and Noah Wyle. The series set the gold standard for hospital dramas, balancing medical realism with compelling character arcs.Kids Feature: Duck DodgersShifting gears completely, we end this episode on a lighter note with Duck Dodgers, the hilarious sci-fi spin on Daffy Duck's adventures. Originally appearing in the 1953 short Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century, the series expanded in the early 2000s, bringing us more of Daffy's over-the-top antics as an incompetent space hero battling the evil Martian Commander.Final ThoughtsFrom Tarantino's most iconic moments to high-stakes hospital drama and Looney Tunes in space, this episode has something for everyone. Movie reviews #49 coming in hot today.
Just 5 70's movies to review, sooooo let's review the review.
1. (The Andromeda Strain 1971) Epic movie Director Robert Wise is at the helm here, with a movie Based on a Michael Crichton novel way before it was a 90's standard thing to do.
That statement is dead wrong though, there are 9 MC novels or short stories adapted into films in the 70's, 3 in the 80's, and 7 in the 90's. I think it's only because Jurassic Park had the hype of like 6 70's movies, shit, I dunno. This movie is about a deadly element from space, SCIENCE, and a real cool facility that gives you paper clothes.
2. (Boxcar Bertha 1972) Not to jump the shark but I think this one's easy, we all agree that we love Bertha, but not so much this early Martin Scorsese film. Barbara Hershey rules, also Bill of Kill Bill, and the history teacher of Bill and Ted are here.
3. (In this house of Brede 1975) Don't yuk this bizarre recovering catholic's yum, but here we have Diana Ring as Nun, say no more!
ok just a bit more she is a woman who is sick of all the shitty men and bullshit and goes to the convent to get away from it all and do rad shit in peace, apparently I should read the book too.
4. (Death on the Nile 1978) I'm sorry but I do love me some Peter Ustinov, He is Agatha Christie's Poirot here, along with flippin every one else.
Mia Farrow, Bette Davis, Miss murder she done sat down and wrote, David Niven, Jack Warden, and Professor McGonagall, to name a few.
This time they are on a boat not a train.
5. (Birth of the Beatles 1979) Waited for the encore tv airing of this so I could record it with a video cassette that I had bought. This one hugely influenced me to want to play music. Wonderful to finally see this again with friends and review. This movie is from the director of Return of the Jedi.
we out, thanks for listening.
