From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of If You Tell comes the absolutely unputdownable and chilling true-crime story of Stella Nickell—a mother and wife who did the unthinkable… and the unforgiveable. At 5.02 pm on June 5, 1986, an emergency call came into the local sheriff's office in the small town of Auburn, Washington State. A distressed housewife, Stella Nickell, said her husband Bruce was having a seizure. Officers rushed to the Nickell's mobile home, to find Stella standing frozen at the door… Bruce was on the floor fighting for his life. As Stella became the beneficiary of over $175,000 in a life insurance pay-out, forensics discovered that Bruce had consumed painkillers laced with cyanide. A week later, fifteen-year-old Hayley was getting ready for another school day. Her mom, Sue, called out ‘I love you' before heading into the bathroom and moments later collapsed on the floor. Sue never regained consciousness, and the autopsy revealed she had been poisoned by cyanide tainted headache pills. Just like Bruce. While a daughter grieved the sudden and devastating loss of her mother, a young woman, Cindy, was thinking about her own mom Stella. She thought about the years of neglect and abuse, the tangled web of secrets Stella had shared with her, and Cindy contemplated turning her mom into the FBI… Gripping and heart-breaking, Gregg Olsen uncovers the shocking true story of a troubled family. He delves into a complex mother-daughter relationship rooted in mistrust and deception, and the journey of the sweet curly-haired little girl from Oregon whose fierce ambition to live the American Dream led her to make the ultimate betrayal. Gregg Olsen is a New York Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal bestselling author of nonfiction books and novels, most of which are crime-related.

So much to cover on a Monday edition of the show-the Orioles are still not good and Jahmai Jones isn't here, the Suns are on the verge of the NBA Finals, NC State is out of the College World Series and people are pissed, Glenn should NOT be betting soccer, Intern Jack has lots of stories from his 21st birthday celebration in New York but he will NOT share them, etc. Near the bottom of Hour 1, the great Gregg Olson joined us to discuss beating cancer, being inducted to the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the greatness of The Naked Gun and sticky stuff. At the end of Hour 2, 105.7 The Fan's Jeremy Conn checked in to discuss Tuckerfest, his WEIRD New York trip, sticky stuff and more.
Baseball season is in full swing and we’ve got you covered with all things Baltimore Orioles here on 105.7 The Fan. Jason and Ken got into it yesterday about what is considered a no hitter in baseball. On one hand Ken believes a no hitter can include a “team no hitter” while Jason believes the only no hitter that counts is when it’s only one pitcher involved.
On today's show, Bill and Dan are joined by Gregg Olson!
Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. In a podcast about baseball and about life, Riz & "The Dawg" Jeff Healy welcomed 1989 AL Rookie of the Year Gregg Olson to the show to tell his important story and harken back to his great career as one of the preeminent closers of his time. Olson explained the details of his recent prostate cancer diagnosis and how it came seemingly from out of nowhere, with no family history and being in otherwise excellent health. He explained his story, and in sharing his message gave the many reasons why anyone out there should get tested. Then it was on to brighter things. Riz threw some interesting stats at Gregg about his career, leading to discussions about current hot-button topics like the unwritten rules of baseball and the sticky stuff pitchers have been using to increase spin rates. Gregg also revealed what he would have patented from his playing days, as he was way ahead of his time! There was talk of radar guns, Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan, and what those flamethrowers would be throwing today. Since he is a closer, Gregg closed out the episode with a short story for Diehard Dads. Dawg kicked it off with Veteran of the Day. It was Navy Captain Paul "Puck" Esposito, a friend and colleague of Gregg's at Auburn. He served and deployed numerous times throughout his career. He accumulated over 4,300 flight hours in his distinguished career. Please check out our sponsor, FMS Graphics (https://www.fmsgraphics.com), for all your print and promotional needs. Joe Rizzo brings you baseball (now for a year!). Riz & "The Dawg" Jeff Healy brought the show over the one-year threshold as they welcomed in frequent co-host/guest Jerry Milani to celebrate the memorable moments from Year One of Diamond Diehards. If you're new to us, find out the backstories of how the show began and get some insight into the backgrounds of Riz, Dawg and Jerry, who have known one another for over 30 years (that means they've been friends for longer than most other podcasters have been alive ;-). This was not just a trip down (recent) memory lane, as Riz, Dawg and Jerry discussed the ramifications of injuries to White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez, closer Kirby Yates and CF George Springer of the Blue Jays, and Yankees 1B Luke Voit. There was some talk about a possible MLB misstep by not bringing enough televised content from Spring Training, and a quick preview of the upcoming Strat-O-Matic Elite Media Experts League Finals, between Riz (Cardinals) and Sportchie.com guru and MLB Network contributor Joe Lemire (Red Sox). In fact, Lemire is going to be on an upcoming show to discuss the Strat league and share his wealth of baseball knowledge! Our social media pal and teen baseball phenom Lillian Martineau aced her tryout and made the JV baseball team at her high school, so there was a pause for celebration of this inspiring young athlete. And the guys wished former Orioles closer Gregg Olson a healthy recovery from prostate cancer. Dawg got things going with Veteran of the Day. It was Dr Mary Walker, the only female Medal of Honor recipient in US history. Please check out our sponsor, FMS Graphics (https://www.fmsgraphics.com), for all print and promotional needs. Happy retirement to Gregg Olson, Brett finally admits that he doesn't completely hate Tom Brady, and Mahomes is doing Mahomes type things... Go Hawks!!
Gregg Olson talks about his time playing at Auburn, with Bo Jackson and Frank Thomas. Being drafted in 88, by the Orioles, with the 4th pick and being called up that same season to play in the MLB. He discusses his time playing in Baltimore, with some Mickey Tettleton stories and of course Cal Jr. stories. The Mickey stories are a must listen too! His one season in 94, with the Braves and dealing with an injury that eventually ended his career. The time he intentionally walked Barry Bonds, with the bases loaded. He talks about his only hit in the bigs, which turned out to be a homerun. What he's been up to since leaving baseball, which included being a pitching coach for the former Fox tv show, Pitch. Hey Creepy Crawlers! You're here again! Cool. This week, Brittany and Jaid discuss the gruesome book, If You Tell by Gregg Olson. It's a doozy. Don't worry, this could get scary.
Baseball is back. Back? Back! Back? Sure, back. Are we excited? Or is this too bastardized for us to care? Midway through Hour 1, SI's Joe Sheehan joined us to discuss how baseball is coming back and the impact not coming to an agreement might have on upcoming labor issues and free agency. Early in Hour 2, our friends Bradley & Nikki Bozeman joined us to discuss the time they spent with Mo Gaba last week, why they've been such vocal supporters of the #BlackLivesMatter movement and more. And at the bottom of Hour 2, Orioles radio network analyst and former closer Gregg Olson checked in to discuss why he thinks the short season can be exciting, whether the Orioles should put minor league players who are close on the major league roster and more.
CJ Hawk looks back on a crazy moment in MLB history. And he is excited to talk about The Giants. San Francisco Giant Barry Bonds is intentionally walked with the bases loaded by Gregg Olson of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the bottom of the 9th with the Diamondbacks leading 8-6. The first time a player had been intentionally walked with the bases loaded since it became a statistic in 1955. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ben9314/message
On May 27, 2000, Hal Baird coached his final game as Auburn's baseball coach. The Tiger fell to Stetson in the Atlanta Regional, 13-10. During his time at Auburn, Baird guided the Tigers to a pair of SEC Tournament Championships and two trips to the College World Series. Big leaguers Gregg Olson, Bo Jackson, Scott Sullivan, Frank Thomas, Mark Bellhorn, David Ross and Tim Hudson, to name a few, played college baseball for Hal. When he stepped down, Baird was the winningest coach in Auburn athletics history. That mark stands today. Since his time as baseball coach, Baird spent time in Administration for Auburn Athletics. Hal Baird is the subject of this Talking Tigers Podcast, presented by Wickles Pickles.

On the latest episode of Dirty Kurt's Dugout, host Kurt Bevacqua talks it out with former all-star closer Gregg Olson, who played 14 years in the big leagues after being a number-one draft pick in 1988. Then John Kentera takes a seat on the pine to talk about how the game is evolving at all levels. Who are the hitters who have the right approach against the shift?
