The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (06/16/2025): 3:05pm- Last week, Israel launched a series of preemptive strikes against Iranian nuclear development sites, ballistic missile launchers, and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership. While speaking with the press during the G7 Summit in Canada, President Donald Trump said the Iranians “would like to talk but they should have done that before.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated the United States played no role in the strikes—though, the administration continues to insist that Iran cannot be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei has vowed to punish Israel and the United States. 3:15pm- Lee Zeldin—Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, his proposal to repeal Biden-era EPA regulations on power plants, and President Donald Trump blocking California's ban on gas-powered vehicles. Meanwhile, in response to the parade, far-left protests broke out in major cities across the country—sometimes turning violent. 3:40pm- During a weekend interview, Gov. This is a re-upload for Spotify of a conversation originally held in November of 2023. Hit Factory wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and reverence to the National Music Publishers' Association - tireless defenders of intellectual property, guardians of taste, and brave crusaders against independent podcasts that allegedly included a brief clip of copyrighted music within a previous version of this episode.  Journalist and writer Séamus Malekafzali returns to the program for a lengthy conversation about Martin Scorsese's 1995 crime epic 'Casino'. Initially viewed by critics and audiences as a retread of Scorsese's masterful crime saga 'Goodfellas', the film has since been reevaluated as a masterpiece in its own right - one enriched by the director's late period films and preoccupations. We discuss the film's dizzying construction, effectively evoking the glitz and glam of the Vegas strip through extended montages and voiceover (an effect masterfully rendered by Scorsese's deft hands as a director, a firecracker script with co-writer Nicholas Pileggi, and the brilliant editing of longtime Scorsese collaborator Thelma Schoonmaker). Then, we examine the brilliant, career-defining performance of Sharon Stone as Ginger McKenna. It's a role that deserves every possible accolade, and strikes a note that no one but Stone could conceivably achieve. Finally, we discuss the film as capitalist allegory, and how Scorsese thoughtfully weaves commentary on the corporate centralization of the American economy and its steady collapsing of the middle class. We also offer some thoughts on Scorsese's latest, 'Killers of the Flower Moon', and the evolution of the director's views on capitalism, corruption, and consequence. “It's not ripped from the headlines. We're not using any of [the Buss family's] real-life stories and putting them into our show. Because Mindy [Kaling], Ike [Barinholtz], and I have so many influences like Arrested Development, 30 Rock, The Office and Succession, we're coming up with our own fun stories and fun situations to put this dysfunctional, very wealthy, successful family into a blender and then have them going back and forth and arguing and solving problems together and against each other,” says David Stassen, showrunner of Running Point, about taking inspiration from Los Angeles Lakers' President, Jeannie Buss's family and turning it into a hit TV show.   In this episode, we chat with David Stassen, showrunner and co-creator of the Netflix show, Running Point, that's just been given the greenlight for Season 2. The show centers on Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), the daughter of a powerful basketball magnate. She's now taken the helm of the legendary team with the help – or hindrance – of her four well-meaning but unpredictable brothers.    While firmly set in the brawny world of basketball, Stassen talks about the true core of Running Point, which revolves around the siblings trying to earn the love of their deceased father. To get this particular narrative right, Stassen says the writers room spent a lot of time focusing on the family dynamics and differentiating each character's struggles and traits. Much of the comedy in the show comes from the clashes between the siblings and their attempts to live up to their father's fierce expectations. Stassen also talks about how the character Isla, a woman at the center of a very male-dominated universe, relies on speeches from gangster films to communicate with her basketball team.  “Movies transcend our society. So, I think it's a great way to connect and even if you haven't seen Casino, most people know that Joe Pesci is viewed as a very scary person on film. We were lucky enough to get the rights to show a scene. So even if you didn't know anything about it, you got to see the moment. It's just a fun thing to have this beautiful, airy Kate Hudson taking on these roles of the tough Italian mobster or the contract killer getting revenge for his dead dog, like John Wick. And I guess it probably speaks to something bigger about this show – about a woman in a man's world. But at the same time, Isla is powerful in her own way, right? She's powerful 95% of the time just being herself and standing up for herself. And then the fun flourishes are maybe using a movie reference to illustrate a point,” says Stassen.    To hear more about Running Point and Stassen's advice to TV writers, listen to the podcast.

This week, we're busting out the slammer and potentially wishing we were back in it depending on who you ask, as we team up with the canary-clad copper to take down a star-studded mob in a wildly stylish and outlandishly conceived blockbuster starring a charming old man incapable of doing action scenes, that's been seemingly buried in the Disney vault in the years since. It's 1990's Dick Tracy, directed and produced by Warren Beatty, and starring Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino, Glenne Headly, Charlie Korsmo, Mandy Patinkin, Dustin Hoffman, Seymour Cassel, William Forsythe, Charles Durning, Dick Van Dyke, Paul Sorvino, James Caan, Kathy Bates and Catherine O'Hara. Most of these stars are unrecognizeable under the monstrous makeup required to make them look like their vintage crime comic strip counterparts, but Pacino made enough of an impression with a wildly comedic take on his typical mobster persona that he netted an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor, losing to Joe Pesci for GoodFellas. While Beatty is at least a decade too old to be proper fit as the movie's lead, it's his ambition behind the camera that makes the movie such a curiosity all these years later, as the film is either an enchanting dreamscape filled with unsolvable How Did They Do That movie magic puzzles, or a steaming pile of neon-drenched puke depending on which of our two hosts you ask. But that's okay, as we have some heated disagreement this week that is maybe the closest we've yet come to vintage Siskel & Ebert kinda stuff. Plus: We've both been to the theater and are happy to sound off on Ryan Coogler's latest as JMo and Hayley both greatly enjoyed Sinners in the cinema, and Justin's got a bonus theatrical field report on Drop, the latest from Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon. If you'd like to watch Dick Tracy before listening along to our conversation, good luck finding a physical copy, and Disney will seemingly never stream this thing on Disney+ -- possibly for rights reasons to avoid paying anything more to Warren Beatty, or possibly because they are cowards who are ashamed of the fun movie they made. Either way, it's tough to find outside of renting it on YouTube. Other works discussed in this episode include Creed, Fruitvale Station, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Mad Max: Fury Road, Loki, The Accountant, The Perfect Storm, Bridge of Spies, War Horse, The Adventures of Tintin, Red Eye, Trap, Reign of Fire, Surrogates, The Expendables 2, The Last Boy Scout, Princess Mononoke, Hook, This Is The Tom Green Documentary, Cutthroat Island, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, G20, The Silence of the Lambs, Longlegs, Resident Orca, Avatar: The Way of Water, Blackfish, Batman ('89), Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, X-Men, Blade, The Shadow, The Phantom, The Rocketeer, Darkman, Speed Racer, Furiosa, Challengers and Sin City, among others. We'll be back (more than likely) next week, with another special in-theaters spectacular, as 100+ episodes after we covered the original film, it is tax season once again and we're back for more Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal in The Accountant 2. So look for that next Friday, and until then we'll see you at the movies!!

The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder

The guys workshop an idea for a new show called "Hot Zero Tards" that will rival the very popular show "Hot Ones." Bobby and Jay tell voiceover stories where Bob becomes an angry baby and Jay gives an embarrassing impression of Charlie Sheen. Jacob and Bob were both extras in movies and the reality of acting was more difficult than imagined. Bob plays clips of a travel show he pitched that revolved around a U-Haul and Dan Soder performing stand-up on the street. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more FOLLOW THE CREW ON SOCIAL MEDIA: @thebonfiresxm @louisjohnson @christinemevans @bigjayoakerson @robertkellylive @louwitzkee @jjbwolfSubscribe to SiriusXM Podcasts+ to listen to new episodes of The Bonfire ad-free and a whole week early.  Start a free trial now on Apple Podcasts or by visiting siriusxm.com/podcastsplus.

Inspiration for the cold open obviously came from me watching Goodfellas for the 100th time. How freakin unbelievably good was Scorsese's mother in that. Possibly the best overall actor in a particular scene with Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta, all in their primes, she steals the screen and has a top 10 all-time scene in any movie. Picking up a shovel at my mother's keeps getting better every time I see it. '98 Braves slowed reverb is really fantastic. I'm seriously considering blasting some chopped and screwed country tunes next week. How wicked hot is that. George Jones and Randy Travis chopped and screwed get outta town. In other seriously fantastic news.. I'm a single 32 year old man with no children so that affords me the luxury of spending money on vinyl records to blast for you people every week that would be good for you good for me thank you now. I did just yesterday find a rare Jai Paul Demo drop of Jasmine to match my Demo drop record of BTSTU. It is not the limited Jasmine record that smells like Jasmine, it is the older original 2012 Demo drop vinyl of Jasmine and I do believe it is sealed. A sealed copy should be at least $100-$120 but basically only nerd losers like me know this so I found the Orig 2012 Demo for $16 on eBay with no other comparable sold items in history meaning its pretty wicked rare. I only need 3 records to complete the entire library of possible Jai Paul vinyl. He/Do you love her now single numbered to 500 and signed, going anywhere from $300-$500 a pop.. The white vinyl Bait Ones drop which is cheap I'm just lazy and already have 4 copies of Bait Ones. And the limited smelling Jasmine record would be the only ones I'm needing and I'd imagine I will break down and have them all within the next year or so as I expand this ever-increasing collection. I do actually need another shelf I've run out of room. Who typed this novel in the description of my Witwicky Juan Don installment? I did try a new coffee today and I do believe it just made me black out for a second. Thank you, as always, for being here and enduring this ear beating. I hope an individual out there somewhere enjoyed it. Until next time, I remain your faithful disc jockey on the internet.Your Host with the Most,Witwicka Juan Don

“Funny how?” 1990s Goodfellas set a new high watermark for the gangster movie. The Martin Scorsese classic starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta (along with, like, half the cast of The Sopranos) portrayed a world in which the mafia life itself was the main character. Clint, Cal and Nick talk about the origins of the famous Copacabana shot, the most brilliant insert shots in the history of film, and how over Christmas that year you could see Joe Pesci in both Home Alone and Goodfellas in theaters. Meanwhile, Dan's Algorithm wants two Lucky's and a Camel… CineFix Top 100 was created by Clint Gage and Dan Parkhurst and is produced by Tayo Oyekan, with Technical Producers, Marhyan Franzen and Amir Rakib. In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by Topo Athletic, we are A'in your Q's, with our pal and yours, the lightly bearded Jabba aka The Real Hiking Viking. In today's question and answer we dive into a host of nitty gritty backpacking details, including what exactly is in our first aid kit, electronics bag (down to the cords), and our stuff sac systems, including some specific product recommendations. We also chat about our least favorite backpacking trips, our thought process in choosing socks for a backpacking trip, and what we deem as the biggest misuse of money when on a thru-hike. Jabba also updates us on what life has been like sans-beard, the fallout with his girlfriend, and if he plans to bring it back. We wrap the show with our go to movie theater orders, why corn maintains its shape when shat, the triple crown of cities we'd add an NFL team and what their mascots would be, and we once again dive down the rabbit hole of how often peepee happens during poopoo.
