What does it mean to encounter outsiders? A desperate mom approaches Jesus to free her daughter from the demonic. He is in Gentile territory. She is a Canaanite, a Syrophoenician, a Gentile. She is outside the covenant and the covenant people. The disciples want Jesus to send her away... they
God is committed to his people, and It's satisfying when God's people respond. But God's people continue to fail, but hope is coming.
To live well in exile, draw a line, hold a big picture of God, and believe that history is headed somewhere.
God will restore the world, and the center of this new creation will be God living with us, and this should change how we live.
Our problem is severe. The solution is that we need a new heart from God.
Life is hard, but God cares. Things might get worse, but it's not about us. It's about God.
Creation matters to God, true worship matters to him, and we matter to him!
God fights for his people, but he will fight against those who reject him.
The new creation will be a place of joy and restoration, and we're made to look forward to that day.
Isaiah 53 points us to the bridge that reconciles God's wrath and love.
One person can make a difference by leading others to worship, trusting God in times of trouble, and by repenting quickly when they sin.
God cares about issues of injustice. Those who are responsible will be judged by God. But God will pardon those who turn to him.
God's people can be the problem just as much as the world, and Jesus is our only hope.
God's people are often in trouble, but God is kind and has all the resources they need.
